Merry Christmas all, deep apologies for being gone for a month and a half, moving has been inCREDibly stressful and took up a great deal more of my free time than I had expected or properly budgeted for, but I am committed to returning if y'all'll have me. I would love love love to see this game thru to the end with you folk. :)

Move action to flex into Ghostslayer(which I had previously been unaware of, and renders the brace of arrows entirely moot since Sara has no other use for swift actions anyhow), standard to close in.

Sara stands there waiting with a brace of arrows and one of Maria's infusions, ready to drink it as soon as she sees or hears the thing.

Readied action to drink the True Strike infusion upon its appearance, which I'm hoping she gets off during this round?

I once shoplifted a $300 pair of sunglasses and used them every day for two years until a roommate's dog ate them.

@Maria: True Strike would be good on Sara to ensure that I can beat its CMD; if I make it blind it might not make its gaze attacks on us.

Did we buy shades when we fought that medusa?

I'll take two doses of the ghost salts so I can do with my shoes as well as the brace of arrows. Has anyone managed to identify it?

If we can catch it in a surprise round (or I can blind it round one and continue the wombo combo round two), I can potentially make it entirely immobile with Entangle and then Pin or Dazzle then Daze, but it's got a super high f!%&ing CMD

Since it covers ten pieces of ammunition, Sara could cover ten arrows, flex into Quick Draw and get off ten attacks with the ghost salt, each hitting for 3d8+7+10+1d4

She leans down over him with tears in her eyes. "You and your mother will be reunited in life, Taldogis. We'll see to that."

I found out today for the first time that clerics and shamans and other prepared divine casters don't hafta prep all their spells all at once. Way more versatility than I had thought previously.

Unsatisfied with her interviews, Sara heads to Zileska and sadly asks her a favor. "I realize it's a lot to ask of you and Calistria, but would you be able and willing to Raise Taldogis? He was such a good and brave boy, protecting his mommy like that. And maybe he can tell us something new and important, I, I don't know."

Sara sits down first with the Palace Guards, one by one, and then with various service staff, especially groundskeepers, and, to her great distaste, Bartleby.

She asks first about the events of the evening itself, and then about their normal routines, variations in that routine spanning the last few weeks, changes anyone may have noticed in the Princess's behavior, as well as new figures in and around the palace.

"Has anyone thought, er," she lowers her voice to a whisper, "could it be the Duchess in her painting?"

Oh I the player loved Axis and thought it was a surprising and amusing diversion. Sara the character hated it; so much that she might even shift over to CN after being exposed to the bureaucracy. I'd love to play this AP as a hardcore worshiper of Norgorber, either as the assassin or as the Reaper of Reputation, it'd be great for this AP.

Yeah going to Axis really threw a wrenxh in my plans, cause I was gonna have Sara spend this book learning magic from the person who sent her the letter (who I had a whole plotline in mind for even), but now I can't super justify her going one level of wizard in the storyline just for +5 to Diplomacy. Like sure she's interested but ain't no one taught her anything.

So I'm guessing she'll be taking another level of fighter?

She's gonna immediately sell that Orb of Law for the 30k and the bulk of that is gonna go to Bartleby to upgrade her +4 CHA headband to a +4 everything headband, skill points are gonna go into UMD and K. Arcana. The other 6k will go to pay back Maria from the end of the last book, as will 4k of the rest of our loot.

Increase STR to 24 which does a lot for a lot of things, my combat feat'll be Shinigami Manipulation to turn my light improvised weapons to 3d8s and my two handers to 5d8 I think?

Skills: Dip, Intimidate, Perception and Sense Motive. Sleight of Hand and Handle Animal, as always.

Fort and BAB up by one, extra iterative attack, a couple of my weird cad stuff goes up by one.

Also unless she destroyed it, Sara's going to keep the Stabbing Beast's scorpion tail as a trophy and a weapon.

Going off the previous ruling of what damage a corpse deals, see here, combined with my Improvised Weapon Mastery and my two Shikigami Style feats raises the d10 damage to 4d8, as per the Enlarge Person table. As an interesting aside in re Chairbreaker, if the last crit confirms, his body is utterly destroyed instead of just gaining the broken condition.

Before the devil leaves, Sara makes good on her word and hands Phlagomi what is admittedly quite a weighty bag of coinage and a bottle of fine Chelish wine dating quite a ways back.

"We made out quite nice on that deal," says Sara, wiping her mouth. "That was mostly coppers."

She sits with their three new tagalongs, trying to find out more about them.

Taldaris interests her most, of course, but in her nerves, she turns first to Imaro, the petitioner.

"You say you found forbidden knowledge. Did your torturers ever find that knowledge? And are you willing to share it here, with allies?"

Sara gestures at the accompanying spirits, first to the two still in their cages. "What are your names and why are you in here?" And second, she turns to Phalagomi and Wyssilka, who seem more familiar with the lay of the land than she. "Where in this realm could we make a safe space?"

"Yes, but we need to prepare. The more we know, the better we can defend ourselves, the better we can strike back. I think it's useless to concern ourselves with going back to the inn; let us make safe this room, it already has meager bedding. We can rest here, that's my vote."

Sara nods at Taldaris' words, assenting, and turns to Phlagomi, Wyssilka and the other two prisoners. "Anyone here know how we can draw out this Secret Shade and kill it?"

Damn, its CMD was over 33 even with no DEX mod? Awful. Also I doubt it would affect things one way or the other but I realize now I forgot to roll damage on that first heel strike.

Sara, astounded by being in the presence of the First Emperor, quickly loses all interest as he reveals himself to be bothered by this concept.

"Yeah, well there's gonna be one, so get used to it," she says curtly, looking over the other prisoners. "The commoners are uprising too, but they just want fair representation. Lots changed buddy boy."

Sara kicks at the shadow's face and legs, destroying the bricks behind it, and obscuring its vision, hampering its movement.

"Zhi, Maria, hit it!" she shouts, worried for Melodie.
