"Glad to see that everyone made it. I think we have a few things we need to discuss. First off, who is the mysterious Mr. E that seemed to lure all of us to the Bizarre Bazaar. Why did he lure all of us there last night as well? What ties us together to this man?" Saliger stops for a second and lets everything sink in. Saliger continues "While I really don't know, I believe that the mysterious Mr. E is actually your old student Exetor, you remember him Xzavier, kind of a punk, not sure if he was a genius or a drug addict type. Anyway, thats all I can think of. So we all went to meet him, but why? He told me he had a tome on creation that he would sell at market value, how about you two?"
"Well, look what the cat drug in! Good to see you Xzavier, you had me a little worried. While I'm not sure what you are talking about, I hope that you weren't doing anything immoral last night." Saliger gives Xzavier a quick wink and continues "Class is almost finished for the day, so why don't you go rest off your hangover and get a quick bath. Also Shari was looking for you. Why don't you tell Jerall and the three of us meet up in the library this afternoon."
Knowledge (religion):
Saliger kind of smirks, slowly shaking his head. He tries to dismiss the subject by standing up from his chair, and giving a slight wave. Hoping to get back to teaching the class, Saligers looks at Shari hoping she gets the clue so he can dismiss the subject gracefully.
Saliger ponders this newest development for a few moment, before beginning "Unfortunately I am ill equipped to handle matters of a religious nature, but your insight into the dark side seems very likely now that I think of it..hmmmm..very intelligently said Jerall though I will likely need more insight into this nature." Saliger claps his hands together, notifying that he has done his thinking on this matter. Then he looks at Jerall and says "Oh, and Jerall, there's no need to use that accusatory tongue here, among friends. Besides the burden of proof lies on the one making the statement or assumption, not the other way around."
"Oh...my poorest deluded child. Dead god's and other gods coming to speak with you? You must have bumped your head or something. The god's don't exist, they are a silly figment of some people in white suits imaginations. It gives them the ability to control mass amounts of wealth, power and influence. Think of it, if you could tell people you had control over universal forces that control what happens to them for eternity, it gives you an ability to bend the people's will." Saliger appears as if he's been in this discussion before, and looks as if he's about to start again, then he bust out in extremely inappropriate laughter: "Oh my..hahaha...I just thought we were trying to have a serious..haha..conversation. My you certainly..haha...pulled a fast one." Saliger is now laughing so hard he grips his stomach and looks as if he might fall out of the chair.
Saliger chuckles and little at this intrusion. "Oh Jerall, there is no such thing as prophecy, I thought a man as educated a you would know that...Unfortunately a number of academia believe in such silly notions." Saliger shakes his head sadly as thoughts drift through his mind. He continues "Perhaps the demon child is a manifestation of Shari's dark side trying to break free...there really is a lot of variables in this particular dream, so any insights on what we've spoke about so far Shari?" Saliger looks over the class as well, trying to see if any other student has anything to add to the subject.
"Well Shari, dreams are usually the subconscious mind expressing it self to you." Saliger is very excited as the mind and its inner workings is one of his specilties and he is almost positive of the working of this poor deluded girls mind, and how to help her. Continuing on excitedly "As such, your own personal symbology would play a large part in what this might actually mean. For instance, a demon child with five wings would likely represent a force of chaos or unnaturalness, as no natural thing has five wings. As it is descending out of the heavens, and most people's symbology of heaven is a place of good things and light it would represent that this force is a good thing in your life. Fire is often a symbol of cleansing or renewal to the subconscious, and as it is destroying the evil this seems to fit the current meaning. The taking of the mantle and the subsequent battle with the gods likely represents you giving up your foolish belief in a deity and taking a more worldly view of the universe. So if this makes sense with your symbology, the discarding of the unnatural, chaotic and religious things in your life is a necessary battle that you must take on and cleanse yourself from to get better. Do any of the symbol mean anything to you personally so I might help you decipher this dream."
"Well Shari, I certainly have my strengths in the philosophies. You know, come to think of it, yes, yes I am. I am practically a genius in such areas. Xzavier is such a stickler as well, no flexibility on his outlook. But me, I'm always learning the best way to cut through to a core value, and I'm willing to adjust as circumstances change. Anyway Shari, why do you ask?"
Saliger is perplexed, but knows he better cover for his taller, less attractive friend. During class Saliger is going to teach about the variable effects of symbols while spellcasting to produce variant results with spells. "So adding a horizontal line through the focus of any spell can help add to it properties that can actually knock your foes to the ground, but it only works on spells that drive with force."
"No way, he told me he wouldn't part with it for...." he goes silent for a minute while he ponders thoughtfully, getting a little scowl on his face. "Thanks Jerall, your not to bad for a human type. Well, I'm gonna plan on teaching class alone then". For any time before class I will try and analyze the scroll.
Saliger is pretty beat up, so he is going to go to sleep and rest and recover. If I have time I'd like to copy grease into my spell book and make a scroll of it as well. I'd also like to make a scroll of vanish. This would take 5 hours of time, so not sure if we'll have that before something happens. After all that I go to the library to speak with Jerall. "Glad you made it out of there in one piece, heck I'm glad I made it out in one piece. Obviously the bazaar was a bad idea.. Any word from Xzavier, we have a class to teach in a couple hours..."
I will slip into the alley way and use my scroll of disguise self on myself to look like an old bum, and I will use my diviners fortune roll for my disguise check (giving me a total of 25 disguise). I'll add a good looking effect with prestidigitation as well, some mud on my clothes and the smell of boozes. I will also manifest precognition. I will very slowly(as I am staggered and acting old) begin to move back towards the university, trying to remain out of sight, and will burn my precognition: Stealth Thats a pretty bad roll, I am going to use my reroll ability on that
Fortitude Save= Diviners Fortune= All right, so assuming that is good enough I am joining the group who is rushing the group at front, having my summoned eagle distract the ones closest to the side of the door I am trying to get through. I am going to try and stay lost with in the crowd, and cast vanish from my scroll going through the largest gap I can find (invisible as well for this action).
I forgot to mention, the party has no rogue, and the DM has said this is a pretty trap intensive campaign and that Disable Device is very useful, so I was trying to find a way to fill that role too. She said its fine if I don't, but I kind of feel like I should. I don't necessarily need to be the best in combat, but I don't want to be the gimp either. Last rogue I played only had one combat feat(weapon finesse), but thanks to sneak attack was still effective in combat, but my outside of combat utility was the best, and I saved the party a few times in out of combat situations, 2 of which would have been TPKs. Trying to do the same kind of thing here but with a whip build.
If there is no decent alternative route for escape Saliger is going to command his eagle to fly through the guards at the entrance way causing a diversion, making it fly the opposite way than I am passing. Saliger is going to try and stay as out of sight as possible and walk through during the distraction, while getting out a scroll of vanish and a scroll of disguise self in case things go poorly. If he notices an alternate route, I will likely take a different set of actions.
Saliger looks around at his companions and gathers them all around. It looks as if a flash of inspiration has finally come to him. "Do you remember that lad Exetor from the college? I don't know why I didn't see it, but I think there is a fair chance that he is the the Mr. E we are seeking. I know he just disappeared one day, but maybe that was to involve himself in this new persona. I bet one of the other students would know. I say we go investigate with them, maybe we could even offer a little extra credit to someone who can point us the right way." finishes Saliger, looking to Xzavier for an ok on bribing students with grades. Saliger winks slyly.
Perception: Saliger looks at the boy and back to the whole in the ceiling. He hopes this isn't an ambush, and that Jerall can keep them out of danger with his quick wit and charming attitude. He tries to get the attention of anyone not directly engaged in conversation and lets them know:
People not in conversation: "Two shadows moving across the roof, could be nothing but I'd keep my eyes peeled."
"Ahh, well, its a little to rich for me. I only have an assistant teachers salary, its not a lot. I kind of think they were ripping me off anyway. I need to save some capitol anyway to make more scrolls with. Myabe i should set up a shop here, at these prices I could make a killing..." Saliger says unable to hold eye contact.
