Dear Paizo team,

please cancel my Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription.
I thank you for your awesome support and look forward to re-subcribing once a more interesting AP is announced!

Thanks,
CHRISTOPH

Nooooooooooooooo. Too late. Stupid holidays. So sad to have missed out on such a great (sculpted and painted) mini.

There's hope you can still die during character creation! *smirks*

Dear Paizo customer team,

it seems that the above mentioned order #3852313 will not reach me.
It amounts to over €100 in total which means I have to pay customs--which I expected.
A problem arose when it was delivered to our home and the postal service agent would only accept the exact fee which I couldn't provide.
He told me he would come back the next day(s) so I could have the exact fee ready.
No problem I thought... but he has not yet returned (two weeks+) and I have no receipt, tracking number or what-not to go and pick it up at the customs myself.

I expect it to be returned to you. If that's the case I'd wanted to ask whether it is possible to notify me and arrange for a new attempt where you bill me for the postal fee or something?

Thanks,
CHRISTOPH

Dear Paizo team,

thanks for your customer-friendly policy which showed again in my last email where you would replace my lost-in-the-post items from a former shipment and resolved the issue with my free Wayfinder #13 copy.

One question I have concerns payment: the email I received on December 9th states that my credit card will be/is charged with $44.64 whereas the order total says $31.90.
How is this going to be sorted out?

Thanks and regards,
Ruyan.

Dear Paizo team,

this shipment left your warehouse somewhere at the beginning of September.
Unfortunately, I moved during shipping time and have no access to the mail reaching my former home address.
Thus, I never got the notification to pick it up at my local post office.

Could you please advice me what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Haha. Love the quote!

Greetings, fellow travellers.

My search function failed me so please help me out here.

We're playing in a homebrew campaign, books are CRB and APG only.
Our (current) nemesis is an adult black dragon (CR11) which harrasses us while we're travelling overland on foot/horse back trying to outrun an approaching army of giants.
Terrain is hills, steppe, woodlands; we're headed towards a big swamp (sic!). No towns, no magic shops in sight.

Group consists of:
dwarven cleric (lvl9, domains: strength, protection), human fighter (lvl9, bastard sword, AC34+) and my human druid (lvl8, caster, big cat ac).
So far the dragon has always attacked us at night and we were able to drive it away but couldn't kill it: bad rolls on our side, good rolls--particularly saves--on its side and due to the fact that we have to spend a lot of resources on casting daylight.

My question is: how do we shut down the dragon so it can't fly off or reduce its speed so we can follow it while flying ourselves?
Or is our best bet on finding a sufficiently large cave where we lure the dragon and seal the entrance?

Thanks.

Dark Archive

While i find an additional price increase of $5 an impertinence for the people who want to play part 4 of an ongoing campaign ultimately I am willing to pay it ONLY because of the included postermap.

There are an additional 32 pages which is a plus of 33.33% so there is that too. That is a very good value...

I find the article about Aroden very interesting and hope it will shed light on what happened to him and i am also curious about the AP retrospective.

All in all it is a must buy for Pathfinder and Paizo fans and i am very excited but i feel a little sorry for people who just want to play the AP.

So here it is. Although it's going to be a while before I will (have to) GM this AP, I thought I get this thread going the more to know where even mythic heros might fail (or just to observe player stupidity when power drunken is followed by brain drain)--and yes, I've seen this thread.

Here we go:

Name:
Race:
Classes/levels:
Adventure:
Location:
Catalyst:
The Gory Details: (optional)

If I remember correctly the Hellknight is a female in the AP--any experience how this is reflected within the mini?

Hi there,

I just received the above mentioned order and noticed to my great dismay that my printed copy of Wayfinder #8 starts with the last page first.

Has that happened to other copies as well or did I just receive a super-uber valuable printed version of Wayfinder?
Might there be a possibility to exchange that for a regular one?

Thanks for your efforts and keep up the great work!

Greetings, fellow travellers.

My search didn't reveal anything useful, so without further a-do:

Is it possible to re-design magic weapons?
My ranger has a +1 coldiron greatsword which I would like to become a +1 cold iron bardiche.
Do you know any ruling, where it says yay or nay or could you direct me to a thread where that has been discussed already?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings, fellow travellers.

While doing some research for a certain fanzine, I discovered this site with a nice list of nautical terms, I thought I'd share with you:

Clicking takes you to the Age of Sail ship and ship building terminology site.

Greetings, fellow travellers.

It might have been asked already, but by Cayden, last night was a long one (or short, depending on one's perception) and I wouldn't be able to find way into my own pants as it stands.

I usually start roaming the forums without logging in. Only if something strikes me as interesting I log in and add my gibberish to the discussion.
Now. Everything's fine except for the Product Discussion section. If I want to answer a post and log in while in that section, it does not take me to the discussion but shows the product information site - is that intentional?

Can I circumvent that behaviour? If so: how?

Ruyan.

PS: I realize the discussion is only 2(?) clicks away, but me being lazy and old and in a hurry... you get it *wink*

Greetings, fellow travellers.

Paizo gives us new plant companions available to (elven) druids with a certain archetype.
How cool! WTF!?

Right, having decided as GM that I will allow plant companions to be available to all druids, I had the idea of creating a halfling druid being carried around by its treant - exactly, just like in LotR!

Ok, while I really like the fluff, I am concerned about the mechanics and how to make the little fella viable.
Sources allowed are CRB and APG, assume 25 pt buy, plus I don't like dipping.

The treant becomes large at lvl 4. With the picture above in mind, I imagined something like the treant doing melee and the druid engaging in ranged combat - either spells or ranged weapons.

I know the halfling is not really out of reach for most monsters, but I'd like to hear about your ideas how you would play one.
Would you go for an archer with this druid? I assume mounted combat rules apply here as well.

TL, DR:
In general: what feats do you recommend. What should be spells he usually has prepared?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings, fellow travellers.

I am toying with the idea of adding a different encounter to the island in the middle of the Candlemere.

Please bear with me - I'd appreciate your feedback.

Spoiler for Serpent's Skull AP:
Basically I think about placing the upper level of the great fortress of Thousand Fangs (from Serpent Skull #5) here instead of the ruined tower.

The serpent's head rears up to 100 ft above the water of the lake and is camouflaged under a tangle of briars, small trees and bushes. The fortress was once built to watch the uneasy East and its growing Cyclops' empire.

Recently, a small group of serpentfolk, led by Sskahvo and Khavith, have entered the ruin and try to open up the way further down the outer corridor (the corridor is clogged here from an avalanche) which would give them access to the other rooms as described in the Serpent Skull AP.
Sskahvo and Khavith are accompanied by a serpentfolk expert (profession: miner), 8 degenerate serpentfolk and a dozen kobolds as slaves for manual labor.
Sskahvo, Khavith and the miner are serpentfolk with 3 class levels each, the others are unmodified as found in Bestiary 2. The rooms are more or less empty/void of the former riches, the thought lens is dormant.

Your thoughts?
I am especially concerned with (in no particular order):

  • Timeline: is the Cyclops Empire and the Serpentfolk "in phase"?
  • Are there similar structures in Golarion outside Mwangi (source?)? Where could they've come from?
  • Would this mash up spoil the atmosphere of the area/the AP?
  • What if the PCs want to explore further - would you grant them their way? At what level?
  • The PCs would be about lvl 6 to 7 - could they tackle the garrison?

Thanks again for staying with me!

Ruyan.

Right. This one makes me feel a little bit silly for having to ask that question after such a long time in RPG, but anyways, here it goes:

Say, I have three iterative attacks due to high BAB and my initiative is 16. When do I get to make the second and third attack?
In our groups it is handeled like this: 1st attack on initiative, second (and third) at the end of the round (initiative count 0).
After several encounters with monsters who had multiple attacks as well but dishing out their damage all in one go, I started thinking.
'Cause the ruling as we have it at our tables seems to penalize PCs heavily.

The search function didn't provide any useful information and I cannot find anything useful in the books either.

Help me out, folks! Thanks in advance.

Ruyan.

Greetings, fellow travellers.

Couldn't find an answer to that question - so here is my go at it:

Our party got ambushed and we were peppered with arrows which were poisoned with blue whinnis.
Two of our party members failed both saves and fell unconscious.
Can we wake them up just like that (cold water in the face, kicking or shaking them) or does the poison have to run its course and we have to wait the 1d3 hours as written in the description before they regain consciousness?

Thanks in advance!

Ruyan.

Greetings, fellow travellers.

After my wizard bit the dust (damned Ibixians), I finally have the posssibility to play a ranger.

Group consists of:

  • dwarven cleric (melee oriented)
  • human wizard (conjurer)
  • human fighter
  • dwarven ranger (skirmisher)
  • me (CRB vanilla version, switch hitter, no prestige classes or dips)

Books allowed are CRB and APG, setting is homebrew, relatively low on magic (no shops!) and character wealth, campaign will be mostly wilderness/exploration/dungeons (no, or only a few traps), lasting propably to lvl 12.

We are currently at lvl 4 and that's where the "problems" start.
My stats are STR 20, DEX 17, CON 14, INT 12, WIS 14, CHA 11.
I am wielding a greatsword or guisarme, ranged weapon is a comp. longbow (+3 STR), wearing a breastplate and spiked gauntlet.

Ok, first thing. Ability increase: I am strongly leaning towards STR, but increasing DEX will show immediate results. Thoughts?

Next thing will be feats. So far I have taken Power Attack, Cleave, Deadly Aim (combat style is archery, so Rapid Shot got taken at lvl 2, for lvl 6 it will be Manyshot).

What to do at lvl 5? I am torn between Improved Sunder and Improved Bullrush.
Imp. BR will synergize with the wizard using pit spells and for protecting the wizard (fly is not a well-received spell with this DM) and cleric while casting.
Imp. Sunder will help the party overall.
Now - how feasible are the combat manouvers when it gets to higher levels (lvl 8+) - we have had encounters with trolls and their CMD is already at sitting at 22.

Are there any other thoughts and ideas what feats I should consider (Iron Will, Weapon Focus, ...).
I would like to take Imp. Critical (greatsword), Critical Focus and depending on circumstances I am considering Toughness.

Phew, quite a long text - anybody who has made it 'til here: my thanks!
    Looking forward to your advice.

  • Dear Paizo team,

I have a question concerning shipment. As I have learned recently you do not offer tracking for overseas shipment, which I do not get, but anyways:

Yesterday I received my order # 1737499, submitted July 5, 2011 but I am still waiting for my order Paizo Order # 1710833, submitted June 3, 2011 (Carrion Crown #4 and Undead Revisited).

My question is: can I conclude from this, that my previous order is gone/destroyed/dead/eaten by the big kraken lurking between there and here?

I know transit times can be long for the option I have chosen, but this strikes me as rather long and the overtaking issue makes me wonder.

Thanks for your answer, which is really appreciated!

    Ruyan.

Wooooooot! Scroll to the bottom and find more treasures. This is a miniture I highly anticipate. I am GM in a Kingmaker campaign. Due to time and money consraints I have shifted to paper minis fore the bulk of the opponents, but I a very happy that I might be yet able to use a 3D mini for him! Make haste, I pray thee!

    Greetings, fellow travellers.

As of yesterday's evening I am blessed with rather high (rolled) stats:

    18, 18, 16, 14, 12, 9

This puts me into some dilemma. I intended to play a wizard but I feel these stats are rather wasted on him.
My second option would be to go bard (and then later into DD).

Let me give you a little background information on our campaign:

  • homebrew, rather low-magic
  • 5 PCs: dwarven ranger, human ranger, human wizard, dwarven cleric and me
  • campaign will probably go up to lvl15
  • good alignment

Now. My original idea was to simulate Karzoug from RotRL, namely a pure transmuter. Giving him most of the features described in the AP, including the crafting of a glaive, the robe, and possibly the talons. What I would not be able to copy would be the inherent bonusses and the implanted ioun stones.

With the rolled stat array and because we have another wizard (universalist) in our group I thought about going bard. Since the cleric also wants to focus on melee, together with the rangers and their pets, the buffing a bard could provide should be well received.
That's not where I want to stop though. Together with the DD (would be bard5/dd8/bard2-7) and a longspear focusing on sunder, I should be able to issue some damage as well.

The other option would be straight archer bard (none of the rangers will focus on ranged combat), which looks - on paper - even better concerning damage and arcane/bardic support.

Any thoughts? Please, focus on the class combinations I gave you. I am aware of... more optimal combinations, but either straight wizard, straight bard or bard/dd are the options I want insight into.
Ah, and I've read the guides by TM.

Thanks for your time, insight and help!

  • Let me start by saying, I love the content of all shippings I received from you guys, be it AP, hardcover books, stand alone adventures, modules, chronicles, what-not.

Let me follow that by saying that your packaging has left me wanting three times already.

I live overseas from you guys and every bigger order I've placed has come in a heavily dented cardboard box! With that few "bumper material" put inside besides the books, they are jostled around and all corners are dented and bent.

As I've read this complaint has come up a couple of times already.

You know the size of your books published and you know the size of the boxes you use for mailing - why can't you either stuff more fluffy flakes inside or get the books wrapped in cardbord prior to putting them loosely in the US postal standard boxes to protect the edges?

    Greetings, fellow travellers.

I have gone through almost all threads on item creation, but I just want to be sure, I got this correct, since I am the one bringing up magic item creation as a player action in my group for the first time.

    OK, here we go:

My druid needs better armor. We do not have access to dragon hide/scales or what not and the whole decision is really based on fluff.
I am about to hit lvl 11 - so I thought about using the iron wood spell, the wild enchantment and my wooden breastplate to create myself the armor that fits my druid.

The pricing would be - [b]and please correct me, where I am wrong[\b]:

  • breastplate 200gp (might be less or zero, since i will use wood shape...)
  • masterwork 150gp
  • +1 enchantment 1000gp
  • wild enchantment 9000gp
  • continous iron wood 66000gp (6 x 11 x 2000gp/2)

for a total of 76350gp, which will take 76 days to make (rounded donw).

I know, it will be a lot cheaper if I just stick with the first four items and cast iron wood every eleventh day - but again, the decision would be based on fluff reasons.

    Ruyan.
