Again, apologies for lack of posting. I'm going to try to catch up this evening, will try to post this week, but will then be very limited again through late August.

Summer plans! Ahhh!

Roscoe feels a sense of pride as the Captain discusses the power of those that might have built a bridge for giants.

I didn't build it--get out of my head!

The halfling stares at the island as they approach, worried about the growing influence of the archmages.

At least I have learned what they are. Perhaps I will discover how to defeat them. Or maybe take their power as my own and be rid of them.

Fingering his Sihedron medallion, now different but still omnipresent. Somehow already awake and unsure where the night went, he speaks to his allies.

"Hey guys--we're here."

I'm thinking I might try Trickster today--I haven't used that one before. Also, I'll try to update character sheet but I have to level up six sheets--grrr.

@GM: I know there's a lot to keep track of in this campaign, and which spirits I have access to in a given day may not be the biggest priority.

Should I take a little liberty to choose a spirit based on our location? You could always chime in and tell me when I only have certain ones I can access. But when my spirits change how I RP each day, I hate to not have one selected.

Roscoe boards the gangplank, still needing to prepare himself for the day. Could I know which spirits I might channel for seance today?

The halfling hasn't spent much time on ships, but generally does well with physical challenges.

He looks at the pale man protecting the crate.

"Whatcha got there?" he asks. "I'm Rosoce--who are you?"

Roscoe, who had indeed had to tap into the power of the Thassilonian spirits to help win the difficult battle, took some time to settle down.

That is a connection I need to be careful with. But I have this totally under control, right? Right?!

When the group discusses next steps, he nods at the mention of Magnimar.

"Anyone who can give us more information on what we're dealing with here--what I'm dealing with, is someone I'd like to meet. I suggest we rest, get some much-needed equipment, and then leave immediately."

Hey all, sorry for my absence. I had a vacation to Mexico and we were stuck in travel purgatory at LAX trying to get back (bumped an extra day and then our direct flight was changed to a 20-hour trip back--ouch!).

Anyway, I'm back and will get myself leveled (this is the hardest character to level--basically 6 character sheets, and the sheet I'd been using was lost and I have to start over!).

Another character sounds great--I still think it's funny that I wanted to be the arcane caster first, then two people that have now dropped wanted to play wizards and made me switch to Roscoe. Ha.

Anyway, so the final loot for me is 1,363? Thanks for doing the division, Nasir!

Roscoe rolls his eyes at the thought of pulling out his coin purse.

"Three coppers! You've got to be kidding me! You should be paying us for doing good things--or at least letting us go for free! Good grief!"

Placing each copper in her hand is nearly as difficult as having three teeth extracted.

The halfling stows his coin purse on the bottom of his backpack. "I'll spend no more today. If I have to cross this again, I'll swim back," he says, eyeing the distant shore. "And why did he get a discount!?"

As they prepare to board, the halfling takes his breastplate off. "Is anyone else feeling--weak today?" he asks.

Also, my Taboo for today is:

you must not pass up the opportunity to learn something new and significant (a nontrivial piece of information with a Knowledge check of DC 20 or higher) when that opportunity is directly present.

GM, this gives me 2 uses of Spirit Surge (I can add a 1d6 to a roll) without the spirit gaining any influence on me.

I should also note that I have a feat, Legendary Influence, that automatically starts me with an additional point of influence. So I start each day with the spirit I channel already having 2 points of influence over me.

"Your loss, friend," he says. "I've totally got this under control--you'll see."

Gathering those that do want to participate, Roscoe lights some candles and places his Sihedron medallion next to them. With the others in a circle, he closes his eyes and focuses on the spirits--or personalities--or whatever they are--in the medallion, and can feel closer to one of them.

He feels one of them enter into him, and with a shudder opens his eyes.

"Power--I can feel it!" he exclaims. "Is everyone else feeling that, too?" he asks.

Pick your power from the ones I listed. Today, you get to pick. Other days, it will just benefit some of you.

GM, I have to have a Taboo (something I won't do). I'm picking this one today: you must embrace any opportunity to spread the legend of yourself and your allies, even when a low profile would be helpful.

Once they finish the ritual actually took an hour!, Roscoe says "Well, I suppose we can ask around about the gang war. Let's do that and meet back after."

Roscoe listens to the virtues and vices as thoughts go through his mind.

They aren't all that corrupted, really. Being better than everyone is pretty great. That's honest pride, isn't it?

Roscoe paid great attention to everything the scholar said.

This amulet--maybe it will keep giving me more powers! It seems like maybe part of the Runelord personalities are in this amulet or something. They must have chosen me because I'm destined for greatness. Maybe it wants me to bear the mantle of Thassilon now.

He asks the scholar another question. "So, as far as Thassilonian ruins close to here--where would you look if you wanted to check it out a little more? Are there some closer than Sandpoint or Riddleport?"

Sounds like I better explain a bit and give more detail. Every day, I channel a different spirit (depending on the location, different ones are available). Some spirits only give one benefit (called Boons). For example, if I'm the Archmage spirit, I can only do the +2 dmg for spells, so then probably only one or two of you would benefit. However, the Marshal I'm channeling today lets you pick. So this won't be every day, but the Marshall's seance benefit is you get to pick from the other spirit benefits, so it's probably the best for benefiting the whole group. For today, pick your favorite (assuming you want to participate)! Here are the full boons:

Archmage Seance Boon: Your damaging spells deal an additional 2 points of damage of the same type that they would normally deal to each target.
Champion Seance Boon: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Guardian Seance Boon: You gain a +1 bonus to CMD.
Heirophant Seance Boon: Your healing spells and abilities heal an additional 2 points of damage to each target. This does not affect healing conferred by magic items, nor does it add to fast healing or similar effects.
Marshal Seance Boon: Choose a seance boon from any of the other legends to benefit from. When using the shared seance class feature, each participant can choose a different boon.
Trickster Seance Boon: Choose one skill when you gain this seance boon. You gain a +1 bonus on skill checks using that skill, and that skill counts as a class skill for you.

Everything that had been happening to Roscoe gave him an epiphany, and his eyes go wide as he stares at his medallion.

"So each of these points on this medallion--is a different Runelord and virtue--vice, whatever? So maybe this is why I'm so amazing--practically perfect in every way? Maybe this is giving me all these powers! Maybe I'm on track to take on the mantle of their powers! Very nice. I'm liking this amulet more and more all the time."

He considers his level of preparedness to go to the Churlwood.

"I may want to buy a thing or two before we go. Oh, and I feel like I can share some of my powers with the rest of you. If anyone wants to join me for a little ritual, I think I can help you be a little more amazing like I am. Well, maybe not quite as amazing as me."

If anyone wants to join in a seance with me, you can have any of these bonuses the rest of the day:

+2 points of damage per target for damaging spells
+2 damage for weapons
+1 CMD (lame)
+2 healing spells
Choose a skill, get +1 bonus and counts as class skill

Leveled! Wow, that's a hard character to level. I basically have to level up 7 times (once for standard Roscoe, and one for each of the six spirits). It's a little hard to keep track of, but I have a separate document to hopefully keep it all in one place. But if anyone sees any errors in any of my sheets, feel free to let me know.

The biggest changes for my character are:

Shared Seance (Su) (BIG one for the party, potentially. Unfortunately, it will change from day to day, so we'll need to go over this each "morning" to see who wants to participate).

Shared Seance:
At 2nd level, a medium can share his channeled spirit’s aid with his allies. All allies who participate in the medium’s seance gain the channeled spirit’s seance boon for 24 hours.

Bonuses to be shared are:

Archmage: +2 points of damage per target for damaging spells
Champion: +2 damage for weapons
Guardian: +1 CMD (lame)
Heirophant: +2 healing spells
Marshal: Choose one of the other benefits on this list (this is today's)
Trickster: Choose a skill, get +1 bonus and counts as class skill

Taboo (Ex)

Taboo (this one really only applies to me):
At 2nd level, during his daily seance, a medium can accept a taboo in order to appease his spirit. Each spirit lists example taboos, and the GM may allow additional taboos as well. Accepting a taboo allows the medium to use his spirit surge ability twice without incurring influence. The medium can select only a single taboo. The medium is not magically prevented from breaking his taboo, but if he breaks the taboo for any reason, he takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and saving throws for 1 hour and his spirit gains 1 point of influence over him. If the medium continues violating the taboo while taking the penalty, the duration of the penalty extends, but the spirit doesn’t gain additional influence over the medium. If a spirit attains 5 points of influence because of a violated taboo, instead of possessing the medium, the spirit leaves the medium’s body entirely, and the medium loses access to his spirit powers, spirit bonus, and spirit surge abilities until the next time he can perform a seance. Banishing a spirit in this way damages the medium’s connection to that spirit’s legend; the medium cannot channel spirits of that legend for 1 week, and the next time the medium channels a spirit of that legend, it starts with 2 points of influence over him instead of 1.

Sorry, Rona making her rounds at our house this week (kids, not me or my wife), so it's been a busy weekend.

Roscoe places his amulet on the table. "Here's this amulet I found--it's special and has a lot of powers. It's like it picked me or something. Probably because I'm amazing. But it's interesting, because the runes are not the same as the other Thassilonian ones we've found. What do you make of it?" he asks.

Roscoe had been listening in on Ayita's problems and Nasir's questions.

"Listen, Ayita," he says. "I've got your back. I'm the toughest halfling you'll ever see, and anyone would be a fool to mess with me. And as long as you're with me, I've got your back," he says with his chest puffed out proudly.

Roscoe shakes his head at Nasir. "It may be a curse, but it's the best one there is. I have all kinds of powers I didn't have before after I found this. Now--it does sometimes feel like there are some kind of--personalities running around in my head," he says with a thump to his noggin.

"But I've totally got it under control. Trust me."

He looks at the amulet and the runes. The amulet has runes associated with each Sin at the tip of each starpoint. Each is positioned identically, with the starpoints touching the bottom of the rune.

It appears this is different than the Sihedron rune on the torn corner of the map. The runes are oriented differently, some 90 degrees, some 270 degrees, some 180 degrees. They're all over the place.

"I'm not sure why these are so different," he muses.
