The dwarf looks at the golems. Arcana: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42 Then Rogar puffs on his cigar and glances at his jacket. "I got a few tricks up my sleeve? Err spells that will work against those things"
About Layla SettNinja progressing to Red Mantis Assassin Prestige Class

Background:
Layla shares several qualities with her twin sister Aloysia. Their mother’s drive for gold was so deep that they each quickly learned that there is no other thing worth valuing. The twins are much the same in this respect; however, their methods for obtaining gold are quite different. While Aloysia is more apt to use her feminine whiles to manipulate her targets into doing what she wants, Layla finds little use for words and seldom speaks. She embodies efficiency wholly and completely. Layla finds her sister’s tactics to take far too long to reach payday. She is far more apt to kill her target and take what she wants than anything else. Aloysia may be just as inclined to take a life, but her motivations are far different than Layla’s. Aloysia has a deep cruel streak and takes pleasure in causing pain and death, but this is simply a function of the brief time she spent as a sex slave. The emotional damage from that ran too deep, and left little else than cruel motivations. Regardless of her cruelty, manipulation is Aloysia’s tactic of choice for her payday. Layla, on the other hand, finds no real pleasure in killing. It is simply a means to an end, one that is incredibly quick and efficient. This difference in method resulted in very different lives during adolescence and on. Each sister is very intelligent, but while Alyosia used her intellect to study human behavior and anatomy in order to manipulate more effectively, Layla used her intellect for other studies. Layla found that relying on one’s self is far more productive than relying on another party to be involved in her payday. While Aloysia spent her time among people to learn her craft, albeit in the shadows, Layla isolated herself from humanity. She spent far more time working on her physical prowess. Training her body to be stronger, faster, and more resilient was how she spent most of her earlier years. In her studies on how best to improve her body she also happened upon some texts describing the way of the ninja. She quickly realized that this was the perfect path for her. A way of life that is one part stealth and one part quick and efficient methods of ending life fit perfectly into her idea of how best to generate wealth in this existence. Layla, of course, looks much like her sister. She has the same raven black hair, deep blue eyes, and supple olive skin. They are both quite beautiful, but Layla takes the opposite path of Aloysia’s penchant to use her appearance for gain. Layla keeps her face hidden at all times simply because it is logical to remain unrecognizable. It is no surprise that Layla deviates quite far from her sister in this way. Aloysia lives in the moment, acting on impulse with little regard for consequences. Layla, conversely, lives with constant foresight. Actions have consequences, and a reputation gained is just as likely to leave her dead or in a cell if she is not careful. Layla has little regard for her sister for this reason. They will acknowledge each other, but the drive for gold goes too deep. They both care for little else and since they have polar opposite methods for their personal gain they rarely come into contact any more. |
