Also, I've never heard of vanities before. Are those unlockable items/perks from chronicle sheets?

Vanities are from the Pathfinder Society Primer.

You get it from the Skull and Shackles chronicles. The chronicles award you Disrepute and tell you what you can spend it on.

Alkarion nods as Raynor relates the events. "I would only add that the compulsion to eat the flesh of another sentient was quite strange ... I plan to do some research to see what specific nourishment that might have provided, and see if there is a way to synthesize it alchemically. While digging out the buried chamber, I did have a number of thoughts that might lead to improvements in the physical labor industry, but that might be a discussion best suited for another time. In terms of our mission, I believe that covers it."

I assume we've already given her the sphere, since that was our specific goal.

Alkarion picks up his own notes and smiles at Frau Blucher. "Of course, my dear! Please, lead the way!"

"Yes, let us be off. Everyone grab a bag or an orb!"

Alkarion pats Garrapata on the back. "Well done! Remarkable reflexes! Please, take one of my cards. I'd love to have you come in so I can research your musculature and reflex pattern. If I can reproduce that in chemical form, so many Pathfinders could benefit!"

If everyone is willing to give him a minute, he whips up an infusion of Heightened Awareness. He then takes 10 for 22 Perception.

He then steps carefully into the room, checking for further traps and dangers before waving everyone in. He then checks the sphere itself, then says, "I believe that is our goal! Can anyone check for magic before we take it?"

Alkarion will happily contribute all but his last two bombs to destroying the flesh blob; he'll save the last two in case we encounter trouble on the way out.

Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Bolstered by his alchemical concoctions, Alkarion labors without complaint, though he does periodically stop to take notes, muttering things like, double reversed knees for better support and some sort of direct opening to attach a waterskin to for continuous hydration.

"I really don't recommend going down those stairs ... our instructions said not to go deeper into the tomb ..."

Alkarion will spend a minute whipping up an extract of Ant Haul to increase his carrying capacity, then join in the digging and clearing.

Just as a reminder, our instructions specifically say "Check around the top level, but don’t go any deeper than you have to to find the Orb." That's what I'm basing my comment on.

Alkarion looks down the stairs, then back at the others. "I do believe we were warned not to venture too deep into this tomb without backup. Perhaps we should note this for future exploration, and return to the digging."

GM: When you said a "long" time to clear the rubble, are we talking hours, days ... ? Do we see any other secret doors or unexplored areas?

No, I don't think a 6 hour search is reasonable.

"I agree with El Garrapata - this might bypass the problem. Watching the rate at which you have moved the rock so far ... estimating the average size of rocks within ... carry the two ... rounding ... that comes to ...

(something that is likely to take a loooong time).

Alkarion looks over the secret door, making sure it seems safe, then waits for the others to be ready before opening it.

Give the door itself another Perception check (take 10 for 29) looking for traps or other dangers, and listen to hear if any sounds are audible through it.

I was hoping the search of the room might reveal something useful before we start pounding on the blob. We also might wait until we've revealed the last room before expending resources on it.

"It did recover fairly quickly from our attempts to harm it ... perhaps we will find helpful information either here, or past the blockade?"

Alkarion will begin a thorough inspection of the room.

First take 10 for 29 Perception, then if that turns up nothing and we have the time, take 20 for 39 to be absolutely sure.

Hanging on to the wall, Alkarion quickly pulls two vials from vest pockets, pours one into the other, and tosses the oddly shaped container at Rajhan-Vol, spinning it as he does.

Maintain Controlled Rage and throw a bomb, using Precise Bombs to select out Raynor's square from the splash.

Alarmed but not surprised by the turn of events, Alkarion rides up the wall to get above Borox, then tosses the flask of holy water he was carrying at Rajhan-Vol.

Free action to enter Controlled Rage for +4 Dex, move and throw. Point-blank, precise shot, rage, mutagen.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 Damage vs Undead: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7

"I think I can speak for the entire 'crew' when I say that none of us will volunteer to become food."

Alkarion looks a bit uneasy.

"Uh, 'King' ... perhaps you could speak up a bit, not all of us can hear you, and we are a team ... "

Alkarion listens to the "parley", but keeps at the ready, expecting a fight to break out at any moment ...

To be fair, I can think of one or two at least - Sarenrae comes to mind.

Alkarion sees Raynor hesitate, an does the same. He hangs back to hear what is said, but takes out a flask of holy water just for insurance. He also pops a small wad of some sort of waxy substance in his mouth.

Taking a barbarian chew, then getting out a holy water while waiting to hear what the ghast has to say.

"Oh, certainly! I was just pointing it out. Never leaf your back to a potential threat!"

Alkarion takes notes on the resiliency of the bizarre fleshy tower as Raynor attacks it.

He then takes out the original note from Venture-Captain Benarry. "Well, it says here that Thrennt hid the Orb in a side chamber off of a "Hall of Flesh-Eaters" and collapsed the entrance. This room would certainly qualify as a Hall of Flesh-Eaters, so I suspect that rubble there might be our target."

"What do ye think we should do about that blob thing?"

"It didn't like your holy light ... perhaps you could call on more power from your god? I have seen other priests use their healing energy to burn undead, perhaps that would work? Holy water might have a similar effect."

Borox calls down more blinding divine light from his scroll.

It turns the approaching festrog to ash, and elicits a loud "MEEP!" from behind the pillar.

Hearing a sound, the wayang moves to see what produced it.

Move action to get a view behind the pillar; I'd like to reserve my standard until I know what I see.

"I was DEVOURED BY CRABS once. IT WASN'T MUCH FUN!"

Despite the battle going on, Alkarion is fascinated by Garrapata's claim. "Truly? You must tell me how you survived, it may be a useful mutation that I could work on passing along to others!"

Seeing the undead close in, Alkarion drops another bomb. "This is a fascinating experiment, I've never actually had this many undead trying to eat me at once. I wonder who will be faster?"

Move up the wall 10 feet and around the room to get above and to the other side of the ghouls, then aim a bomb at solid orange, splashing dotted blue and dotted purple.

Alkarion scratches his head as Raynor and Garrapata run on into the room full of undead, and looks at the bomb he was preparing to throw. He shrugs, and follows on in.

Move action to get past Raynor along the wall, then throw a bomb at Solid Purple, aiming to splash Solid Red and Dotted Red.

Once everyone is ready, Alkarion joins in the surprise assault, then backs up a bit, guiding his mount out of the exposed doorway.

The wayang guides his gecko up onto the wall where he can still reach the door handle, but will leave room for others to move past.
Once everyone says they are ready, he will do the count then throw the door open dramatically.

I didn't see a response to this ... is the chanting behind the door in front of us? Is there anything else interesting or unusual about the open area once we get past the leech pond?

Alkarion retrieves the scrap and brings it back to the group.

"Oh my ... "Hall of the Flesh Eaters" .. sounds ominous, though with the cannibals above I guess we shouldn't be too surprised. Necromantic horror, eh ...?" The wayang checks his magical pack and nods. "I have two vials of holy water, anyone else? I also have fire ... most things burn."

"Ho there, that looks like something!"

Alkario makes his way up the wall, across the ceiling toward the tree.

If he can reach it from the ceiling or wall, he will simply take the leather; if not, he will lower his grappling hook on a rope and try to fish it out of wherever it is.

Also, remember that Alkarion has the Elixir of Vision bonus, so his perception is +19 (the value in the parentheses in his header). It didn't matter for this roll, but it could for a future one.

"Oh my, that water is just swarming with leeches ... Raynor, if I gave Mozza a potion to increase her strength, could you ferry people over along the wall?"

I have a potion of Ant Haul that would triple her carrying capacity for an hour. That should let her carry an extra person while you hold them into the saddle. What do you think?

Alkarion's ears perk up, and he holds up a hand. Speaking quietly, he tells everyone, "I hear a faint, rhythmic chanting coming from the the other side ... I can't make out words, just that there a lot of people murmuring together something. Advance with caution!"

Once the front-liners are in, Alkarion will crawl along the wall (thanks Garrapata and Borox!) to avoid the water.

Stopping a dominated PC from hurting another isn't PvP, it's just common courtesy. ;-) Please do what you can to keep me from eating my party members or their animals, no matter how appetizing they may be!

Oh, no worries there ... I'll keep you alive and make sure you have time to regrow parts that get eaten. I'll even brew up potions to help you grow new parts JUST for eating!

Everyone else is finishing healing. On that note, the the moderately sized giant gecko may be merely unconscious after the super heroic actions of El Garrapata.

GM: Can we say as Standard Operating Procedure, that Alkarion takes 10 for 29 Perception as we enter each room, looking for signs of trouble, traps, etc.? Saves me from having to repeat it every time we open a door. :) Also, he has 60' of Darkvision, so he'll move in to each room behind Raynor and get a look around.

Alkarion follows the knight into the room, and notices the statue. "That's unusual ... Raynor, it seems to like you." He looks back at the rest of the group. "Any of you good at detecting magic?"

And there was no way to notice it before it happened? I am sporting a +20 Perception currently ... *sigh* At least it wasn't an animal companion.

Helpless to do anything but fall, Alkarion lands in a heap with his gecko. Barely conscious, the wayang extricates himself from the saddle and checks his wounds, then looks over his mount. "Well, that is most unfortunate. You deserved a better end, my friend. If circumstances allow, I will return for your body, but alas you may be entombed here forever."

He pulls out a wand and begins to recover from the assault and the fall.

He takes his magical haversack off the deceased gecko and puts it on. He takes out a small vial of viscous green liquid and downs it. His skin thickens even as his muscles elongate slightly, and his fingers gain a bit of webbing. Feral Mutagen: +4 DEX, -2 WIS, +2 Natural AC, 30' swim speed; duration: 40 minutes

He makes sure everything is settled, then says, "Well, please allow my currently enhanced senses to check to see if *this* hall is going to attack us..."

Take 10 for 29 Perception in the hallway and on the door.

Alkarion is buckled into his saddle, so as the gecko, so goes the wayang. The gecko effectively has permanent Spider Climb, so does that give him any bonuses? Looks like a +1 will be sufficient. Let me know.

Ack. Whether he gets a bonus or not is the difference between injured gecko and dead gecko. :-|

Alkarion will wait for the others to climb down the rope, then he will go down last, gecko-style. Once in the room, he will go all the way to the floor, having had one too many headaches from staying upside down too long.

Works for me.

Alkarion buckles into his saddle and prepares to descend into the pit. "Isn't this exciting? Who knows what bizarre mutations we might find down here!"

"Our biggest issue is time -- remember it took us quite a while to get here, and we have to be back before time runs out on things holding still. "

GM, how long does it look like it will take to clear the opening? Is this even a conversation we need to bother having? If it's five minutes, just do it. If it's five hours, maybe not.

Raynor looks at the group as he is cutting a stubborn root with a shovel, and says, "I assure you that it's worth it. Mozza can walk underground upside down. That's why I got that fancy harness on his back."

Prof. Alkarion: what is the sourcebook allowing a medium-sized giant gecko as a combat trained mount? Is yours a class ability? Mine is from Ultimate Equipment (400gp).
