Poterol steps forward and bows. "Lord Mayor, as it should be obvious by now, we do not actually know the direction of the fiendish plot is taking. We believe that a simple village was burned to hide the death of one man, but we know not the fates of those also of his line. As well, at this point it seems more prudent to spread our warning far and wide, to Lord Mayor Vertin and yourself. At this point, my Lord, our searchings end. We were attacked on the way to Endurant. We were attacked on the way here. We know not where or when the next spark shall be ignited." Poterol bows again, and steps back.

Poterol looks around at his cousins. "Regrouping to be a bit more presentable is a good idea, but disseminating this information quickly, now that we have the information to do so, is more important, I would think. I would rather not split up to speak to both, and it is unlikely that we will be able to get them both in one room in a timely manner."

I'm actually split between #2 and #3. We have a lot of those of 'Priestly bent' in our group to make sense that we would go to the church and make contact there. However, Poterol has been a scribe before, and knows the power of word, as well, the gazette will have the lay of the land, what attitudes people have at current in what direction, so we can tailor any meetings to be favorable to that person/group. The military might answer to the mayor, but that doesn't mean that they'll like it if the orders are strange or come from a group of wandering vagabonds with no references that they can see. The mayor might get upset if the pope suddenly makes decrees about flinging sand or flour everywhere for no reason. The church might start wondering what's going on when the military suddenly up their presence in the city and start carrying strange weapons for no reason. Suffice to say, there's power plays going on in the upper echelons of any settlement, but getting background info on everyone can help sooth feathers when the time comes. So, um... I say #2 first, then #3.

Poterol glances up at the others after studying the necklace again. "Cousin, I would advise we be careful with this item. I believe it now to be what the imp was using to cause the explosions, and it still has some beads of power attached to it. I'd rather we keep hold of it, but I am unsure that carrying it around at the present time is the wisest option. There is the possibility of the remaining beads to detonate as they did when we were attacked if they are damaged by fire." He hands the Necklace of Fireballs back to Eli. "In your hands, cousin." If its the new day I should pour on some more healing, yesno?

Poterol knows from looking at the necklace while Detecting Magic that there is something about the necklace that is magical. He will try one more time to Identify the necklace. Id'ing NoF: 1d20 + 7 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 10 = 29

I *completely* forgot about Identify. Its one of my Spirit magics, so being Lore I should have remembered... Sheesh. Poterol glances at the necklace for a moment, then frowns. "Cousin, will you let me examine that for a moment?" Spellcraft with Identify: 1d20 + 7 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 10 = 20

Okay, have to be more through when I go back through posts then! Healed so far Chap, Shyness, Arabeth, Cernan, and Eli. Marius: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Edit: O_o Oh, dice, where have you been the last few weeks?!

As soon as the blaze at the cart is contained, Poterol steps to Eli and places a hand on his shoulder. "Bravely fought cousin, we should all be as vigilant." Healing Hex-Eli: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Healed Today: Arabeth, Cernan, Eli

Poterol sees the imp, but knows that nothing he can do will hurt it. He instead turns to the cart and casts Create Water to try to dampen the fires enough to pull his companions out of it.

Poterol bows at the waist to Natanja, doing his best to keep Oko steady on his shoulder. As he straightens, Merry clambers up to his other shoulder, looks between the hawk and her companion, then chatters a greeting to the fiery bird. "May wisdom guide your path cousin, and the flame guide your sight. Oko shall be as my own Merry while in my company."

Not entirely sure what magic Eli's talking about, but please remember that my healing hex can only be applied to a creature once per day, but as many creatures as I can target. So that's pretty much a free 1d8+2 to cure up lethal damage, and double that for non-lethal.

Inn Guardians: "We do what we can, friend." Poterol gestures around, seeming to not only encompass Shyness and Natanja, but the sleepers and those out and about in the city. "We all were brought together by a higher purpose, one that I do not believe that any of us truly understand yet. If we can aid other, though, it is worth it. As for what else we can prepare for? I know not at this juncture. Perhaps our guardian angel will let those who now sleep greater insight into the workings behind all this."

Stables: "Arabeth is correct in that knowledge is important. We have a great deal of it among us, cousins. As well, a great diversity of skills." Poterol waves around the stable, "We have a good beginning here. Let us work towards the protection and happiness of those around us."

Stable: "We have returned to the Treekeeps, cousin." He aids her in removing the straw, Merry chittering and pointing out strands. "The others are out informing the hierarchy of the city of what happened in Endurant. As well, finding the young Miss Gina's relative here."

Stable Talk: "I must say, Marius, I've not heard of such things as we have encountered happening elsewhere in any Lore." Poterol shakes his head. "But then, compared to the aggregate of knowledge we cousins share, mine own is but a small part. I've not the skill nor ability to see the future - yet."

Poterol sets himself down on a handy box in the stables. Merry chatters at him from his perch on the wagon, quietly enough not to disturb those still sleeping. "I know. This is a great deal larger than anything we have come across before, my friend. My cousins..." he trails off considering the words and the feelings they invoke. "My cousins, however distant, rely upon each other to support and aid, where one falters, another is there to pick up. That is the very definition of family, I would believe." He looks at the covered wagon, and murmurs, "Sleep well, my cousins. May your dreams be untroubled and your rest glad."

Report to the group:
Poterol is downtrodden when he returns with the others. "No sign of anything but wildlife after a bit. They gathered berries, went to the stream, and used a small latrine. However, other than that... nothing." He shakes his head. "Disturbingly nothing. Children play in the woods. Young lovers take walks. Yet, no sign of that for longer than we thing the fire began. If possible, someone should ask the child, Gina? of what her schedule favored, and what the others of the Endurant did, if she can recall." At the grave, Poterol bows his head, and murmurs prayers for the lost, hoping to guide their path to their last destination.

For Trakers, Natanja & Marius: Poterol looks at the two with earnest eyes, saying, "We may blow away as flames, but I am too very curious about something now. As you said, there are little tracks to the water... and none other save animals. It is worrysome. Where are the children playing in the woods? Where are the men, coming home from field and hunt? The small traffic to the river does not seem enough to handle water for drinking, much less washing or playing.
His eyes turn back to the village. "I would ask that child why none left the main area of the village. It is worrysome. Something kept them in their homes, even before whatever attack happened."

Poterol listens to the goings on of the morning, but the destroyed town still unnerves him enough that he would be out of it. He decides to go with Nata and Marius in checking around the camp. And please add my +7 survival to the aid another. Poterol is sick to the heart and upset about the town.

"Marauding fiends? Likely not." Poterol gazes off into the sky. "They had guards up. The imps, you recall. It is likely that they were here until warned that a large group, [i]us[/u], and defeated their sentries." He sighs, and feeds Merry a small nut. "In a camp, you place sentries to warn of those coming close. What were they doing here that required a warning such as that... Aside from the obvious, of course."
