![]() So option 9 Summons a Giant Stag Beetle and option 31 summons an Elephant. The table says the Beetle is a 5th-level summon and the Elephant a 6th-level summon. However, per the summon animal spell, they're actually 4th-level and 7th-level summons. Does it matter? Should I just accept that a level 8 item has a 1% chance to cast a 7th-level summon spell? ![]()

This isn't too hard to get done using layers in Photoshop or similar. (I use pixlr myself). just load up the ungrided map. Then layer the marked up one on top. Cut out the big red Ss so the map below shows through. It should all line up perfectly. Of course then you have the problem of making it fit to the grid with in roll20 or such. Plus, not sure you noticed, but the grid on the ship doesn't match up with the rest of the map. All the squares are at an angle. It's honestly much easier to take the unmarked up map and just let the Roll20 grid show through. ![]()
![]() I have a basic crafters book, so I can craft a dagger by paying 1sp spending 4 days downtime and a DC 14 crafting check. Finally finishing it off for another 1sp in materials. For a cold iron (or silver) dagger I need to use at least 20sp+2sp per bulk in cold iron, yeah? So I can pay 11sp in materials up front 4 days downtime and a DC 16 expert crafting check. Finishing off with the remaining 11sp in cold iron. Is this correct? Did I miss something? Do I need to purchase a level 2 formula for a cold iron dagger? ![]()
![]() If you randomly vanish and reappear into an occupied square or wall 10 feet away, what happens? Do you blink short, does the blink fail all together, do you blink further in that direction until you find an unoccupied square? What if you are huge and only some of your squares are occupied by other things when you blink? ![]()

![]() Okay lets talk DRUGS: You ingest some pesh and willing fail the save so you get the positive effect for an hour. Then, since you failed your save, you take the negative effects and move down on the Strength poison track to Weakened. Then what? There isn't any frequency on drugs, so how do you get off the Strength Poison track? When do you make your next save? If you take another dose, do you move even further down the track? Meaning you die after 5 doses? ![]()
![]() Note that example on page 11 also shows that you don't roll for damage every round. When you crit you give the target the Burning condition with a set amount of damage each round based on that initial role. In Patryn's Example the soldier would give the target the burning condition 3 times. The first condition would be 4d8(12), the second 4d8(15), the third 4d8(19). So at the start of the targets turn each round they'd take 46 damage until they saved. And if they take another burn crit, that damage will add to what they are already taking each round. Also note that while the damage is cumulative, the target still only has to make a single save to remove the Burning condition. ![]()
![]() So when I ran this scenario, I had many issues with the PCs trying to be creative in their problem solving. Shame on them, yeah? At any rate, I did change a few things about the scenario on the fly. But kept the intent of the scenario pretty much unchanged. First thing the PCs did when boarding the ship was head right for the captains cabin.
Now I know they are suppose to need the key card, but there is no logical reason for any room on this ship to have a lock on it that a DC30 couldn't open. So I let them in to fight the undead. This really didn't change the flow of the adventure at all. In fact it strengthened their belief that the undead was the only threat on board. And they were under the impression that the rest was just going to be solving the puzzle of the doors. Speaking of; Next they did like every other logical thinking PC did, and jammed the mess room door and tried moving the battery. Believing the intent of the scenario was to have both batteries in place, I simply told the engineer that while the one battery had enough power to open the single door it wasn't enough to open the double doors. So they'd need another battery. So they continued to search the rest of the ship that they'd not gotten to yet. All in all, it worked out well, and I believe they had a good time despite me continually telling them they couldn't do something for some unknown reason. ![]()
![]() Who says he's not the reason Golarion is gone. Perhaps he escaped or was let free and it took so much magic to finally defeat him (or reseal him) that the backlash/repercussions created the Gap. I want to know why Asmodeus doesn't rule over us all. I mean come on, everyone wakes up with no memory, and he doesn't take advantage of that situation? He could have come out and said "here's what happened, I won! mwahaha!" ![]()
![]() (Note that all of this is in the Starfinder guide, so there aren't any spoilers about it. It all happened before the current season of SFS started. So everyone should know about it.) A little over a century ago, the Society banned people from going to the Scoured Stars sector of space because it was too dangerous. I think when Jadnura found the Tear and was later elevated to First Seeker, then him saying it was the key to safely explore the region at long last, was what inspired people to go with him. I think it was entirely voluntary. But the Society is full of explorers and he was offering a once in a life time opportunity. He promised great things and a successful mission. He was wrong. I think your interpretation of the Society is spot on. ![]()

Ah but that just because the axe has a special slot on it that reads "feed me" :-) I can see where you are coming from. I just think the rules as they are written have them as two separate things. Where one of those things adds more damage to the other. ![]()

![]() Oh I'm not saying crystals aren't weapons. You can totally make that argument. They are in the weapons section, they are on the weapons tables, they are described under weapons, etc.
"You can seize your solar mote in one hand to form a melee weapon out of stellar energy."

![]() Oh I'm not saying it's useless, I think it's better than any of the level 1-2 upgrades. I'm just not sure it's really worth the 2 upgrade slots and 1600 credits. I've had arguments with people about the usefulness of DR 1/- as far back as 3.0. People often under estimate how nice it is to to look your GM in the eye when he says "you take 50 damage" and say back "49!" with a sneer and gleeful laugh. ![]()

I've not seen anything that limits the level of the upgrade you can put in armor like with weapon fusions. Did I miss something? Or maybe character level is what you are referring to. I have noticed that all armor upgrades only take 1 slot, with the only exception being force fields. But to the original question: I think this is to be expected. If you had to go and complete upgrade just your weapons and armor every level, you'd run out of cash quick. So it makes since that there would be certain level plateaus. I've not looked to closely to see when those might be though. I'm only now getting to my 2nd 3rd level character. ![]()
![]() You know if you are worried about spoilers, you could just not put all the text from the boon on the cards. You could just put a spot to write the chronicle number so if you ever need to know the exact wording you can look it up. Here's an example of what I use: https://imgur.com/Mw4JMgl I put these in a standard 9 card sleeve page with all of one type of boon in one slot. Then just move which ever boon I've slotted for that scenario to the top of the stack so it's the only one showing. However, I really like what you've done here and my have to use it myself. Very nice work. ![]()

![]() What the crystal is made of has no impact on your solarian weapon. Whether it's made of silver or a pine cone makes no difference whatsoever. The crystals are designed to impart a specific effect onto your weapon. The properties of the material it's made of are irrelevant. Could a crystal be made to impart an effect that allows it to bypass DR? Absolutely. Does one currently exist? No ![]()
![]() On page 152 under Prerequisites, it says: "She can gain a feat at the same level at which she gains its prerequisites." So I'd rule that they can still select the feat as they are gaining those skill ranks this level. Although I agree its a strange departure from all previous d20 systems I've seen. And could create some unnecessary confusion. ![]()

![]() So I posted my starship role forms over on Google Drive. And I'd like to get some feedback from y'all on ways that they could possibly be improved. ![]() So in SFS scenario 1-01: The Commencement we are told:
This raises many questions for me. Like, where did we graduate from? Is there a Starfinder university/academy? What kind of degree did we get? Are there other types of degrees offered at this academy? We aren't just becoming Starfinders, but Starfinder "field agents". What other types of agents are there in this organization? Are they all called agents? Are there analist like in the CIA? Are we the CIA of the Pact Worlds? Can an analist become a field agent? Do they need a different degree from SFU? ![]()
![]() My main concern is playing 1 character through the entire AP. I've got an operative I've played through 1-05 with. So he is now level 3. So when I go and play the AP in a couple of weeks I need a new character. This new soldier I've created is going to get to play through Into the Unknown before the AP. So when he's done he'll be level 2 (4xp). Even if I play that character through 1-01 again, he'll still be only level 2 and unable to play the second part of the AP. Now I need to decided if I want to ignore the AP or start playing my soldier though the regular scenarios as well. Which would mean my operative could miss something. 1-06 is coming out as a level 3-6. So I'll be running my Operative through that. 7&8 will be 1-4 so that will be when I have to decided where I need to go with these 2 characters. And that's as far ahead as I'm looking at the moment. I'd really like to play my Operative through all the regular scenarios this season and My Soldier through the AP. I'm just not seeing how that will be possible ::shrugs:: ![]()
