Man, so many times, I felt like I could read your mind, GM Rat Sass. I felt like we really connected. Hope your next turn at GMing is rewarding, but if you're taking some time away to energize, I can totally understand. I'm gonna do the same, reflecting on the gnome's golden years...

Pent looks about the upper district of Kelmarane, and debates his options, now that he has been better blessed by Sarah, with the return of Hyami, and the other gnomettes. There is the Church of Sarah, decimated, but a definite fixer-upper. Then there is the Battle Market, which he's pretty sure will be rebuilt in the reflection of the Kelmarane which once was. Then there are the familiar offices of Almah Rovshki, Administrator par excellence of Kelmarane, which becomes Pent's primary focus.

The gnome turns to his wife. "I think we're going to be at the epicenter of great change in Kelmarane, my love. There are going to be monumental happenings, once we consult our djinni princess regarding the destruction heretofore of the invading forces. There will be great demand for organization, and I aim for us, our crinkled-together family, to be there for Almah, as long as she requires our services."

With a wink and a nod from Hyami, Pent moves off to secure several things within the walls of Kelmarane. First, a domicile within which he'll host his 'harem' of gnomes. Second, a workspace outside his home, within which he'll be able to grow the stores of information regarding the comings and goings of the town soon to become a city. He plans for some of his personal wealth to become the seed monies of the town, to see to the restoration of the people's faith in the security and safety of the region, now that Jhahvul et al have been summarily dismissed from any threat ongoing. With all of this well within his ability to enforce, at least by his thinks, Pent returns to the others, and addresses them as thankfully as possible.

"Odie, you are always welcome here, and when you return from your return to your clan and stone city, let me be the first to see you well-fed and drank. Given your permanent place in Bayt al-Umniyya, just make sure Frederick knows your comings and goings, so he'll have everything stocked that you'll enjoy when you get back. Heck, I'd even escort you myself to the Shrine of Nethys, just to supervise your inhalations of that special smoke. It's not as good as pesh, mind you, but where in Golarion are you going to find an experience like that?" The gnome pats the dwarf's lower back in friendship.

"Aldi, I'm glad to know you're staying. Kelmarane will grow strong in your light, and I'm sure Abadar is quite proud of the half, uh, halfling you've become. You almost sacrificed yourself to the cause, and I won't forget that, and I hope that Kelmarane Herself doesn't, as well. Many a prayer in Sarah's name will be said, in your honor."

"Amiamble, uh, you just, uh, do your thing, out there in the desert. Just, try and clean Yeen up a bit before walking him back into the town all bloody about his maw. He'll scare the wee folk. I suppose that as long as your brother is about, you'll root yourself locally. I've never thought about you two ever separate from the other, so if one of you dies, I imagine the other won't be long for Pharasma's Fields. Your selfless act of healing your brother at the feet of Jhahvul, well, that was pretty amazing, and I'm sure Kelmarane will sing songs of your exploits, or at least Yeen's, as you seem to shy away from pretty much everything other than bloodlust for Rovagug's minion massacres..." The gnome bucks up, and strides towards the brothers al-Jabira.

"Mahdi, you are a wonder. I am grateful for all the stories that will fall from my mouth, uttering your name at times to complete them. The love of a brother, the ascension into Janni hoodlumdom, there are so many moments I could recall that would color you epic, but here is neither the time nor the place. We'll have to gather in the restaurants soon to populate our popular growing city, and recount all the deeds you did in support of our inevitable victory over that boastful efreeti prince. Just, you know, don't come to town and not pop your head in to say hullo, alright? I'll be plenty busy, between Kelmarane and Katapesh, but I'll always make time for you and Hazim, when you visit."

Pent feels like he's said enough words to express his heart, so pats his belly, and returns to his purpose about town. When Nefeshti calls them to each morning meeting through the week, Pent will garb himself differently by his Sleeves of Many Garments, so as to bring the gravity of a gnome's participation in expending several Wishes in the hopes of restoring Kelmarane to its former glory, as well as seeing his companions made stronger for their continued good health and travels.

The gnome sighs deeply, smells the scent of Kelmarane as it is now, and pictures in his mind's eye what Kelmarane will fast become, and he smiles. Sarah, You have truly blessed me, and I will forever be in Your debt. I just hope the rest of my life pleases You, even as my bones become brittle, and my mind dulls with time. I expect that my moppets will continue to please You, well beyond my little life.

Pent hoots loudly, despite the early morning. Halfway through his hoot, he does his best to convert a gnome hoot into a rooster hoot, so as to minimize the auditory alarm he might raise nearby. He turns to his mates, and cajoles robustly.

"I would be greatly indebted to any and all of you, if you'd join me in traveling to the Shrine of Nethys, so I might safely secure my wily wife. She must have squirreled away when the siege of Kelmarane set off, Sarah knows how long. Just, give me some time to meditate, so I can establish more of Sarah's windwalking." With that, the gnome scurries off to find a quiet room with a balcony, where he can close his eyes, and let the light of Sarah's sun shine through his lids, while he lists all the things he'll need for the recovery.

Pent soaks up every instance of this ceremony atop al-Umniyya, like herbed butter in every corner of a poorly-kilned pottery saucer with a dried piece of bread.

When Nefeshti appears done with her work, the gnome bounds up to the brothers, and gives them a direct looking over, patting each on the thigh, approvingly. "I've never seen anything like that, and am thrilled to have done so. You were magnificent specimens of your humankind prior, now look at you!" Pent turns to Nefeshti.

"So, you didn't make them the kind of genie that can grant Wishes, right? You keep that stuff to yourself? No matter, these two are gonna go grand places in any form they take." The gnome clicks his tongue at both brothers al-Jabira, before bounding back below Nefeshti, to address her up close and personal.

"Now, I know you're probably spent granting that last Wish, but would you be so kind as to locate my wife? Her name is Hyami, and it's been far too long, not knowing if I'll find her this side of the Gates to the Boneyard."

Pent chuckles. "Oh, I imagine I'll procreate just fine. I also expect that my wife will figure out the most delicious diet that doesn't incur gastric guffaws. Or maybe I will." The gnome grows a little quieter than usual, as he remembers that he's being hopeful, when maybe he shouldn't.

Pent walks from one side of his Carpet to the other, regarding the repositioning taking place below. "You offering to neuter him, too? I hear they're much easier to live with, when you separate them from their marbles." Pent is now rolling his two Beads of Force between his fingers, symbolically.

Pent hears the Princess out politely, but he's much more glad to see the return of Almah. His high fantasy life of genies and salamanders and bone beasts starts to look duller, as his thoughts return to more vibrant human connections among the people of Kelmarane.

"All due respect, Princess Nefeshti, but I think a more mundane vein is beginning to pulse between my ears, a still humane game to be played in my later years. I intend to breed, you see, and I needn't worry myself about producing half-janni litters, when pure breed gnomes are my bent. You are magnanimous to a fault, your majesty. And I would like to put myself at the head of the line in petitions for your Wishes tomorrow, as I have yet to lay eyes on my wife and harem."

Pent listens to his companions with pride, floating above on his Carpet, and respectfully maintaining a lower altitude than Nefeshti's eyeline. He hears everything that needs to be said, and is content that their meeting is concluded. He is quite interested in being elsewhere, for he has yet to confirm the whereabouts of his beloved. His attention is still focused on the djinni princess, but he waits to hear her dismiss them, so they may scatter to their individual thrusts.

"If you really think you owe me, and not Sarah Herself, then I have just the thing. Your debt will be paid in full, to me, when you have finished my Grand Litany on 1001 Wereleopard Contingencies. It will be a work we can say we did together, though the gnome's share is the lion's. You've got bigger things to attend, so when you find the time, I'll look forward to hearing our finished magnum opus."

Pent sleeps deeply, despite the cold stone floor. His Carpet currently hosts several citizens of Kelmarane, and it warms him against the elements of the biting night.

...

Waking to the light of Dawn, Pent takes his time formulating his petitions for Sarah's Gifts. He counts more than two dozen heads, and he counts one, separately. An hour passes, and the gnome's eyes open, smile-touched at the corners.

Pent practically prances over to Hazim.

"Alright, old acquaintance. We'll not have you returning to Kelmarane with anything less than your full anatomy. Sarah says so, and I'm not one to argue. Neither should you, so hold still. I've never seen this done before."

The gnome places his four long fingers along the temples of the sightless al-Jabira brother, so his thumbs might hover above the man's eye sockets. Whispers, then quiet, then a diamond's sparkling begins behind the thumbs. When the light dims, then extinguishes, Pent pulls his hands back, though one of the hands returns to Hazim's chin, so the gnome can have a good look.

"Hello, Hazim. It's good to see you, and be seen by you."

Pent begins methodical movements among the citizens of Kelmarane. He waves them to bend at the waist, so he may rub a fingertip across their forehead. "By the Grace of the Goddess, please receive Sarah's Swiftness. By the Grace of the Goddess, please receive Sarah's Swiftness..."

One by one, the survivors are given the power of Wind Walking, so that they may all set eyes upon Kelmarane this day.

"I think that's everyone. We should be off. I do long to be gone."

Pent escorts the citizens off his Carpet, giving them ample space to stretch out, though there's not a slice of beef to greet them in the House of the Beast.

The gnome cricks his back, and shakes his head. "I'm thinking Sarah's going to shine on us tomorrow morning. If you give me a chance to restore Her Stores, I should be able to grant each and every the gift of walking the winds, so we can speed our return to Kelmarane, same day. Just, let's take a moment to recuperate our strength, before we take our leave of this unholy place. You know, I speak too quickly. The basement garden is quite lovely with its Almond Tree. I wonder if there's a way to free the Tree..."

The gnome suggests a night of sleep, some meditation, and some spellcasting the next morning, early.

Pent throws his four cents into the discussion, as gnomes' cents count as double. "We either full circle Xotani's Grave, or we backtrack it. We know that where we've soared, we've cleared the way. If we're trying to complete our cavern reconnaissance, maybe we remember this spot, and come back when we can promise a straightway."

Pent takes up a position by the red shimmering, while the others breach the Permanent Image to discover what lies beyond. When the others are present, the gnome musters the courage to follow where they decide to go.

Pent watches everything come to a head, courtesy of the fire mage.

"Not a drop of blood shed." The gnome's tone is pure disbelief. "You couldn't have cast a more accurate counterbalancing magic, Mahdi. The thing couldn't do anything but suffer at the hands of the righteous."

Despite the overwhelming victory, Pent gives the dead body wide berth, in case it rises up from death to smite them with its obvious evilness.

"So, onwards?"

"Well, I shouldn't have expected otherwise. Still, when we've got collective protectives, you'd think he might throw up a hand signal indicating his desire to rush the brute, while allowing a little Sarah's Strength to cloak him before he goes and gets himself bashed up so soon after almost dying at Jhavhul's side." Pent recognizes his verbal indulgence, and sets to work, for what he can do right here, right now.

Pent watches with horrified awe as Otah separates Jhavhul sub-axial cervical with Jhavhul supra-axial cervical- though Pent is unaware of such scientific gnomenclature. His brain catches up to his stalled repeat of the performance, then the gnome breathes, no longer worried about suffering the same fate as Amiamble for being a Healer.

"Odie, that was... well, it was well-timed, for one. Well-placed, for another. I certainly couldn't have done what you just did, and for that, you have my eternal gratitude. May Sarah shine upon you, even in the darkest of caverns."

Pent looks wistfully towards the cavern arch through which the erinyes passed, turning to Mahdi. "I could swear one of them looked just like Almah, Mahdi. You don't think..?"

He speaks a swift prayer to Sarah, clasping his hands together, bringing them to glow, before bolting across the Grand Chamber, and touching Aldebert, much like Amiamble did just moments before... Likely catching Jhavhul's eye... sigh.

Instead, the gnome abandons the Carpet. In a quiet pop Move Action to Dimensional Hop, per Travel Domain, he reappears over the same ledge as the janni captain failing to escape Mahdi's encasing. From this landing spot, the gnome feels secure in his next action- a Pronouncement.

"The only voice that should echo through these halls is Sarah's!! None of this beastly abomination!! What's dead should stay dead. We're not meant to desecrate graves, only leave it in peace!! Jhavhul, you've brought misery to hundreds!! You've done enough!! You've done too much!! You're done for!!"

With that out of his system, Pent utters an Ancient Word of Worship, praising Sarenrae for Her Beneficence. As he points a knobby finger, his eyes lay sight on the winged women at the back.

"Almah?" Within the time-space of the single name, Pent realizes he needs to shift his plan.

It causes Pent to more strategically point his finger. Focal point 40' out that avoids involving the Erinyes, all of them.

Pent watches as the fighting engagement becomes an engagement of words. He looks from Amiamble the Self-Righteous, to Mahdi the Self-Absorbed, then to Aldebert the Self-Aware, hearing each and every word, weighing their value, and finding his own to contribute.

"I have yet to see a sallie dragged before a magistrate, and properly deposed. The flammability of the paperwork alone... These creatures are, by their very nature, evil, aren't they? "The sallies didn't feel like much of a threat, only their leader, like Aldi said. I'm good with investigation on this door step, just as much as I'm ready to see what lies ahead." Pent regards Amiamble and Otah, for their voices, then realizes that he can't make any facial expressions at either of them to encourage them to speak, so he speaks to encourage them to speak.

Pent disappears atop his Carpet, once again. "Well, this will suffice, quite nicely. The Rod totally understands the presence of archers, and how to remove me from consideration." The gnome defies the gods of dexterity by twirling the Rod between his bony fingers, many times over. When he finishes with a shaky catch, he looks at his companions with a proud grin, unseeable to most of them.

Pent does indeed keep up, as the hostile environs of Xotani's Grave highly encourages him to do so. There are too many games of whack-a-genie occurring behind them, in front of them, and to the sides for him to offer up his backside for filleting.

When his gaggle has gathered, Pent channels Sarah's Soothe, before they pursue the next gauntlet of fire. If he has to wait to get further from the dead genies laying about, he makes sure not to restore any of them to functional mayhem.

Pent watches Mahdi slip by, but not too far from where he currently floats. The gnome feels content with the swords at play, so he drifts closer to Mahdi, and ignites his own Begifted-by-Sarah fire.

Pent watches as the cat returns, and hears the half huffing his hex to heal his helper. He chuckles, as he regards Mahdi's chiding of the other half's scolding. "Eyes on the half, heh. Like telling someone to look really closely, so they can see the flea circus performing. The flea fled the scene, and we still can't see him. Heh, heheheh."

The set of scimitars repositions to continue assaulting the blinded efreeti. The avatar of Mystmorning whisks into flank for Otah and Aldebert, with a quick gesture on the gnome's part. Swift Action to move Mystmorning.

The gnome feels like his work is done, directing his divine blades to bear on a bloodied janni. Then he looks down on his hand, and remembers the Rod and its heft. He sees an opportunity to finish off the fellow, so he thrusts his Rod in the general direction of the same janni captain.

A bolt of lightning blasts the janni! for 6d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 2, 1, 2) = 14 points of electrical damage, Reflex Save DC 15 for half.

The aggressive act pops the gnome's invisibility.

Pent instinctively pulls both spiritual scimitars to fence off the foes. Swift Action to reposition the Spiritual Ally, Move Action to reposition the Spiritual Weapon Both of them target the same janni captain. Preferably an already-injured one.

Further instinctively, Pent pulls back from the southern front line of the chamber which previously housed horses, giving the rest of the room a good looking over.

Pent debates his next gnomy actions. He's got several hostiles to the north, but the babau seems to have the three nowly-large jannis occupied. Otah's got his horse, and Aldebert's got his. Yeen seems intent on flensing his embraced rat janni, which leaves himself wondering about the two janni suddenly sending arrows towards the great cat, and somehow managing to hit it, for all the half's protections.

Given the openness of the tunnels, and pretty sure they'll be seeing more moles working their way towards the sounds of their success, the gnome makes up his mind.

"Alright, Sarah, we could use a little more support here. Really shore up the battle lines criss-crossing us like a cross-eyed spider. A little help, please?"

Cast Spiritual Ally

A mere hiccup later, and another Sarahtar appears! This Blade has a different color, opalescent swirling light reflecting a heightened spirituality worthy of the Dawnflower Herself.

"OOooOOooOO!! Mystmorning!! You are a sight for all eyes!! Please introduce Yourself to those two wretched archers. We're suffering on pins and needles."

So begins a tandem effort on the part of the gnome's spiritual weaponry.

Pent panics a little as a couple of arrows find their way suddenly into Mahdi's meat. He instantly remembers that he's currently invisible, so fails to figure into the jannis' judgment. He watches to see if the Sarahtar does anything substantial against the horse first, before he chooses his next course of action.
