Optimistic Eidolon Relas's page

"Party!" Relas exclaims, excitedly bumping Palo with his flank with enough force to nearly knock her down. "Palo, we should go to the party. Maybe you'll make some friends there!"

"Aw Palo, I'm sure it's fine," Relas rumbles, sounding fairly pleased by the outcome. "He seems like he's really put some thought into all of this; would a bad guy bandit think up all of those nice societal improvements on his own? I doubt it!"

Relas considers all of this, a slight frown on his feline features - or as much of a frown as he can muster, anyway.

"You know, you should probably listen to Korum here, Mister Zamir. I'm pretty sure most of us here wouldn't mind putting you in the ground if you gave us a reason to since, you know, you've been enslaving people," the eidolon points out. "Sure, maybe it's legal here, I don't know but we're all the way out here in the middle of nowhere so I don't think the law matters too much right now."

The big cat huffs a big sigh.

"But our bosses wanted to see if you'd come work for us, so...yeah."

Diplomacy (Aid?): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

"False alarm, Korum and Psmatic took care of it," Relas calls back cheerfully as he pads over to a spot just around the corner from the door that leads further west. "I'll wait here until we're ready to press on, okay?"

"PALOOOOO! The statue in here started movingggggg!" Relas bellows, rather alarmed by the sight of this new challenger.

Unaware that anything else might be amiss, Relas moves into the room after Rath and moves to engage Blue.

"Sorry guy, but I don't think we can let you live," he offers apologetically as he attempts to sink his teeth into the man.

Bite vs. Blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"Oh sorry guys, I'll move! But um, there's a guy here, let me just..."

Bite vs. Green: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

And then he moves past Rath so as to allow his companions room to get down the steps *and* to watch for anyone else coming from the west.

Relas bites and then moves to current position; Green gets an AoO if he's still up~

"Got it!"

Relas turns and bounds back up the stairs and around the corner, skidding to a stop as he comes face-to-face with Blue. The eidolon snarls and then tries to take a big bite out of the monk's leg!

Bite vs. Blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"Don't worry guys, I can go first...if you want?" Relas cheerfully whispers as Palo and the others begin hustling past him into the courtyard. "If not, I'll bring up the rear. And if that guy wakes up again I'll just tell him I got lost or something!"

Whether the group wants him in the lead or at the back, Relas does try to do a little bit better at concealing himself...

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Relas sez:

"Hey guys! Do you like cats? Do you like panthers? Have you ever wanted your own panther but didn't want the hassle or the danger of taking care of a life-sized panther? You're in luck! For a relatively low fee you can adopt your very own tiny panther! All the fun and love of a big panther but without the outrageous food bills or the risk of being eaten! Get yours today!"

"Hey! I'm no shape-shifter," Relas responds back, genuinely a bit offended. "I'm all-natural, 100%, what-you-see-is-what-you-get cat! But since we're all making mistakes today I'll forgive you. This time."

Relas finds himself hopefully that maybe the guy will just wave him on in but at the word 'password' his heart sinks and his ears flatten back against his skull.

"Password? Right, the password! It's, um...uh...'Open Sesame'?"

Then he coughs.

"Ի Umմ...տղերք: Պալո Կարծում եմ, որ ջիգը վերացել է..."

Relas freezes and for a second he's not even sure if he should actually respond to the man or keep pretending that he's just an ordinary panther. In his experience, most people just defaulted to that assumption automatically.

Is he drunk? Too much pesh? Still half-asleep?

Does it matter? The jig is up...but maybe I can try keeping him distracted!

The eidolon clears his throat.

"Um, yes! I'm here to see Jumra Khan for a playdate. My name is...Saler. Yes, Saler. He must've forgot to tell me about the name presentation. Sorry. Um, so this isn't the front door then?"

He tries to look and sound as innocent as a medium-sized panther-looking creature can be.

Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 18

"Okay! Um...I guess first thing is to try and see if there's anyone else hanging around out there," Relas nods. "I can't go too far from Palo or I'll start growing weaker and weaker but maybe I can at least get up close to that hole in the wall and take a peek."

He thinks for a moment.

"If they see me, I'll run away into the jungle back here. Maybe they'll think I'm a regular panther and not follow. Or maybe they will follow and you guys can ambush them," he adds, cheerfully.

"Ooh, and I can be sneaky when I want to be," Relas whispers, now accompanying the group once more. "Maybe I can make up for not being able to help you guys with the ambush last night!"

"Wow, this is exciting! Go Angritt, you can do it!" Relas cheers from his comfy place in the shade. "Why don't we have games like this back home? It's a lot more interesting than cards!"

"Sounds...complicated! Palo, I'll just watch you play since I don't think I could swing a bat very well with my teeth, okay?"

Untroubled by concerns of Zamir or anything else, Relas pads over to an out-of-the-way spot underneath some trees and flops down to watch the game.

"Wow, Korum really has a way with words," Relas whispers to the others. "I was gonna say something but I think he's got it under control - and Granny and Angritt, too," he's quick to add.

"That's right," Relas remarks, offering a rather toothy grin to Phalgun and his companions. "But seriously though, it sounds like we're all in good company together - we're just moving things in different directions, that's all! Thanks for letting us share your fire."

"I like Psamtic's idea," Relas chimes in, even though no one asked for his opinion. "They're probably just travelers like we are! Besides, we outnumber them so that'd hopefully put them off trying anything stupid."

Survival (DC 15): 1d20 ⇒ 2

"That's right! Lead on, Mister Waman!"

Relas then waits a moment until both Palo and Waman are out of earshot before whispering, "See? Palo can be nice! She just doesn't like to show it much."

"Oh, okay, I see," Relas nods to Angritt. "Palo and I've met some people who operated about like that so it's not anything that's new to us."

Relas gives Palomia a rather meaningful look - for a panther - and leans in to whisper to her and any of the others sitting close by.

"Paloooo, be nice! I think her mind's wandering so she probably can't help it. And it doesn't hurt anything to play along, does it? Besides, we'll get to have a grandmother for a while! I've always heard good things about grandmothers, you know."

The panther opens his mouth to say something else but whatever it might've been is immediately forgotten as Angritt enters the scene, pulling a creature the likes of which Relas has never seen before on a leash.

"Oh my gosh! It's a big lizard Palo, look! Er, I mean, he's a big lizard! Er, I mean, hello Angritt and Rath, it's nice to meet you! Does Rath talk? It'd be so nice to have someone else from the other side along!"

"Wow, is that a gun?" the panther exclaims as he rouses up a bit, apparently unfazed by the loud woman's willingness to use it on him if necessary. "Palo, she's got a gun! I remember what they look like from Yetor's drawings," he continues, turning to address the woman sitting next to him before turning his attention back to Sinaryn.

"Hello! I'm Relas and this is my human, Palo," he continues cheerfully. "It's nice to meet you, Sinaryn. I like your gun! Is there a story behind it?"

"Wow Palo, this place sure is fancy compared to the Grand Lodge," comes a rumbly sort of voice from just outside the briefing room. A moment later, a rather small-looking (but still quite large) black panther pads into the room and looks around. Whiskers quiver as the great feline sniffs the air. A small rune glows brightly atop the beast's forehead.

"They've even got pillows and food everywhere," the panther suddenly speaks, whipping his head around to address someone behind him. "This place is amazing! Come on, we need to get the softest spots!"

With that, the somewhat-little panther bounds across the floor and down to the seating area, flopping down on several pillows that lie piled in one corner.

"Ahhhh...softest spot acquired," the feline sighs contentedly. "This is already the best briefing ever."

"And don't forget about me!"

"It's really not a bad gig," Relas adds helpfully. "The pay is good and you get to go to all sorts of neat places!"

Relas releases his grip on the halfling, letting him drop to the ground with a soft thump. He looks up at the others.

"Um, you didn't really think I was going to eat him, did you? That'd be gross! I'm not a real jungle cat you know...I just look kinda like one."

"Okay!" Relas calls out as he steps up next to the halfling. "Oh, I'm gonna eatcha, gonna eatcha because I like eating little annoying pests," he says with what might pass for a grin before trying to sink his teeth into the halfling...

Attack (Bite; Flanking, Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9

...but catches only air!

Not particularly inclined to allow the halfling to continue pelting Palo and the others with arrows, Relas moves up and circles around slightly before closing the distance. He aims a bite at one of the halfling's legs...

Attack vs. Halfling (Bite): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

...but small fry seem harder to catch in one's jaws!

"Oh Palo, not in front of Sunny and Sayra," Relas winces at his summoner's foul mouth. He races forward and closes the gap between himself, Kriegler, Hanlin, and Sunny, hoping that a unified front might make the two ruffians think twice...

Relas double-moves up next to Hanlin!

"Um Palo? Maybe...maybe you'd better try that shielding spell on me again before I go over there..." Relas says nervously as they watch the half-orc's muscles become even more muscley than before.

Relas will Delay until Palomia's turn comes up.

"He seems...upset?" Relas whispers to Palomia and the others. "It sounds like he hired the assassins but maybe regrets it...how strange..."

As the awakened man turns his gaze (and his longsword) toward Relas, the eidolon has just enough time to think, "Uh oh..." before the lights are suddenly and rather brutally put out.

Stabilize (DC 13): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Lying on the ground, Relas slowly bleeds...

"Krieger, wait! It's dangerous to go alone!" Relas cries as he hurries to catch up to their companion.

Relas moves to his current position on the map!

"There he goes again with brain-squishing and head-exploding! Wasn't there a story about people who could do that?" Relas whispers, seemingly unconcerned about the four Kellid men who'd just threatened them.

"Well...I don't really have hands to lift with but maybe I can...kinda...wedge my paw under here...and make enough room to lift with...my head..." Relas offers, trying to do exactly that - a strange sight to see, for sure.

Strength Check (Aid Another?): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

"Palo, can Ash really squish someone's brain like that?" Relas whispers, wide-eyed. "I'm not sure if that's a really neat or really scary power to have! Why can't you do that?"

"You got it!"

Having no hands to help pull or lift with, Relas simply throws his shoulder/flank against the gate and hopes that his weight will do the rest.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

"Hey guys...? Maybe we should look around a little more," Relas suggests. "This body seems like it's kinda fresh so whoever did this can't be too far off - they might even be in one of these mausoleums! Let's pick one and go see - how about the one right here in front of us?"

Relas votes to check out the Tullivor mausoleum but he's not picky if we want to do Sarvio first ;)

"Yeah, not having workable thumbs makes using those a little awkward," Relas agrees. He looks around the cemetery with interest.

"I'm ready to go!"

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Relas did indeed need some healing, so much obliged!

"Rrrgh, I've got this guy - finish taking care of Friar Liar!" Relas calls as he continues using his weight and paws to hold the remaining guard in place.

Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 5 = 24

Assuming this check is also successful, Relas will attempt to pin the guard.

Satisfied that the priest and his men won't be charging at Ash and Palomia (well, mostly satisfied), Relas bounds up to the nearest guard and attempts to grip him in his paws!

Grapple vs. Red: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

"You heard the man - give it up!"

"Don't worry Ash, I'll protect you!" Relas calls as he bounds after the grumpy undone, moving to intercept the guards should they approach.

Relas moves to his current position and readies an attack should the guards approach.

"Don't worry Palo, we'll get him," Relas calls out as he attempts to duck and dodge past the grabby hands and follow Krieger.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

"Well...it looks like they've done a good job with it?" Relas chimes in, trying to think of something nice to say. "Building a big statue like that can't be easy!"

"Okay!" Relas responds cheerfully. "And don't mind Palo, she's just not used to leisurely strolls around town. Too bad though, we've seen some pretty places..."

Sounds good to me; based on GMG's discussion post I guess selling the webs to someone is probably all that really matters for the moment.

Relas blinks as he processes Vanderpoof's offer and then looks at the others. "Um...do the merchants here operate by hive mind? I think that's almost exactly the same offer that Ninefingers made!" he whispers.

Though he knows enough not to make the final call on whether to accept Ninefingers' offer or not, Relas does return Lyn's high-five as best as he can.

"Arr, t'wasn't nothin'," he whispers before a glare from Palomia signals that he'd better be quiet for a few minutes.

Relas pads along behind Palomia and the others, right into the shop. Try as he might, he still had trouble remembering that there were many folks on the Material who simply viewed him as a beast and not an intelligent being.

As Lyn opens up negotiations, he looks at her quizzically and then over to Palomia. "Palo, was that a foreign language?" he whispers. "I want to try it!"

Clearing his throat, he turns to the dwarf and rumbles, "It be like they say, we're willin' to do ya square on this here deal iffin' yer willin' to do likewise!"

He then excitedly whispers, "How was that? Did I do it right?" to Lyn.

"Well...the gnome sounds like she might be nicer and I'd rather deal with nice people but if most of us want to talk to the dwarf then I won't kick up a fuss," Relas says. "I'm mainly just here to help keep Palo on the straight and narrow....but thanks for asking!"

If a panther-eidolon-thing could beam, it's pretty apparent that Relas would be beaming. "Most people usually don't care about what I think...they just seem to want Palo to tell me to shred things."
