Ok everybody. I think I’m gonna bail here in Blingdenstone. Haven't been feeling much inspiration for this guy for a bit. This seems like a good spot to part ways. Thanks for having me.

Been trying to get the time and inspiration to write out the flash back scene that played out for Odak at the end of the fight but I’ve had a case of writers block lol. So I’m gonna hand wave it for now but essentially Odak will continue to have flash backs of his memories of his time before his head injury and dealings with the sentient mist we just faced. It just might not be as descriptive as I’d have hoped. :(

I’ll get him updated to 5th tonight. He’ll be going another level of Sorc so here come those great 3rd level spells.

Odak runs toward where Karg is hoping to assist but as he passes Cyrus laying on the floor, the dwarf’s face goes blank as he falls into some kind of flash back. Shortly, he shakes it off and dives to his knees sliding next his goblin companion.

After hearing the chanting begin Odak decides that protecting Kaz is the first priority so he disengages and moves to protect the Paladin.

The hairs standing up on the back of his thick rock encrusted neck. Odak recognizes the presence of this evil being. It was the same that took his squad and left him disabled many years ago. This was the evil that they had come to face.

”This is it Kar, read the blasted scroll!” Odak then raises his shield defensively hoping to bide his time his mail the Paladin has done the work.

The blow from the statue hits Odak hard but his ties to earth still protected him and mitigate much of the statues blow.

Realizing the need for his blade to be over, the shadow axe dissolves into a whisp of smoke and Odak draws his axe made of iron and wood. ”So ye ain’t scared of Smokey. How d’ya like this!

it is a regular action to equip a shield. It is meant to be significant. So if you strap it one next turn, you could still move action and bonus action.

Frustrated by the statues that seem to keep coming, Odak lshes our at the new target that moved to attack him.

Odak, not knowing the fight with the Medusa to be done or the fate of Gal, simply fights on to survive. He does cast a glance as Cyrus speeds past him to assist Boomtop and decides to keep this statue from being able to flank them.

Realizing that fighting these creatures with these goggles on is going to prove difficult, Odak steps in front of Myras and calls forth his abilities to control earth to harm the blurred statue that he sees through the crystal goggles.

I notice there are a few items not claimed on the old one. The ointment and grtr healing pot would be something Odak wouldnt mind carrying.

Given the chance to prepare, Odak walks over and picks up a rock and mumbles a few words over it before popping it in his mouth and swallowing. false life 2nd FL: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Then he pulls a rubbery mushroom from his pouch and eats it as well. Jump

After coating himself in stone and strapping on his shield, Odak indicates ”Hmmm hold on..,”. He sticks a finger into his mouth seaming trying to accomplish something specific. He dislodges something from his teeth, he pulls the Medusa goggles down over his eyes replacing his magic goggles. ”Ahhh, got it. I’m all set.”

Odak looks confuses for a moment when the topic of price comes up about the goggles. His face brightens though and snaps his fingers. ”Ahh, we can be tradin for these hiders we found not too long ago?”

It becomes obvious, that Odak doesn’t have any coin to pay for the goggles.

yeah, an update of the party loot spreadsheet is probably in order. I do see that it looks as though there is plenty m of coin there though to cover the cost of the goggles.

Once the Medusa Combat Goggles are complete, Odak is ready to move out back into the caves. He is still not very comfortable in the large city of Blingdenstone.

The only thing bothering Odak about fighting the Medusa is how to hold the crystal and see through it. After practicing with it, he determines to ask for help. is someone able to fashion a pair of goggles or spectacles to hold the refracting stone over his eye(s)

Ogremoch’s Bane seems like it could be a chance for Odak’s story to develope. A thought I’d had was perhaps this sentient mist was what Odak’s military patrol encountered years ago, before it found its way to where it is in the story currently. Something to do with coming into contact with the mist bestowed his connection to earth powers, but also damaged his mind in n the process. Thoughts?

The dwarf story’s his axe then and walks up to the two new party members and offers them a hand shake. ”Well met then. The more the merrier I’d say. “ Myras might notice the difference in this welcome from the one that the dark elf received. Odak might actually come to realize his bias but it won’t be for a some time.

While Professor Boomtop and Sir Kargoroth introduce themselves Odak Crouches and pokes at the rubbled statues with his axe. Then he grunts and moves to one of the non animated statues and pokes at it defensively with his axe expecting it to come to life.

”So were these statues like us too?” the dwarf asks with a mild tone of concern in his voice. ”How did ye turn from stone back to skin?” as he asks his questions, the jagged stone skin covering the dwarf begins to recede. ”Be there more people to be saved from the stone?

Odak did not see the scrolls that allowed this to happen. He actually thinks it may the same kind of magic that is similar to that which affects him.

Sensing victory, Odak tries for a telling blow on the remaining statue.

He issues a fierce dwarven battle cry. ”:
”For clan and kin! The brew is life!”

As he pulls his blade away from the statue, his face contorts in confusion and he quickly looks over his shoulder at Myras once again.

1. Wasn’t sure if I’d get the chance to use the inspiration so I used it anyway for some character development effect.
2. Myras’s magic has jogged a lost memory from the addled dwarf’s past

Odak quickly looks over his shoulder at Myras and is surprised as the magic of his words flow over him.

Now that the immediate threat is dispatched, Odak takes stock for a moment and looks at the newly forming group of allies. Shaking his head he mumbles ”Not another dwarf t’be seen. I shoulda went with Gal and Zoltan...”

The sour dwarf then hefts his axe and charges toward another opponent.

the Artificer lends itself nicely to these things.

”An I be Odak. Well met.” Kargoroth and the Professor are now introduced to the strange sight of a stone dwarf. He could almost be mistaken for the animated statues, save for jagged edges of stone protruding from his skin. His features are still recognizeable but not the perfectly sculpted faces of the medusa-created statues.

Looking from the fallen statues to the newcomers joining the fray, Odak takes on an incredulous look. ”How’n the nine hells are we ta be findin allies around er’y corner? I d’na understand but I ain’t complainin’. Thanks to ya lad!” And with that, the dwarf brings his flame-wreathed axe down on the nearest statue.

mapwise, one of the statues was destroyed I thought, Odak would move into that space. He’s currently off to one side of the map not a legal spot unless to are ok with fighting from the goblins square cause he’s small lol.

His magic having little effect, Odak moves past the newcomer drow and the goblin to engage the statues with his axe alight with an eerie green flame.

I tend to avoid poison damage personally. I feel that it is more resisted/immune than Fire. It’s bad enough when you can get a bad guy to fail a save *cough* but to get by the save/ac threshold and have the spell resisted or ignored is just.... UGH!

Odak tries to get a better view of the fight but the cave walls and the elf in front of him obscure much of what he can see. i will react to the perc roll when Odak gets into the room. “If” he get into the room.

Knowing his connection to the earth is stronger than his previous results would appear, Odak draws power once again to attempt to damage one of the statues.

would you say Mold Earth could effect the statues?

This is a review of the new officially released that has all the information posted with the review. Offical version released in the Ebberon book last week

Only a couple of differences honestly but solid IMO. There are a couple of older UA versions that released earlier but those were from initial designs of the class which have changed. I didn’t look for those links.
