Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah points her finger towards the goblins near Esther. The air crackles with power and everyone feels a distinct electric charge growing, emanating from behind the goblins (Square C9).

Her eyes filled with glee, her voice rises and she incants:

Eruptio Electrici Arcus:

Name: Burst Shock Arc
Damage: 3d4 (CLd4, max 5d4)
Range: 30 ft, 10ft burst (25ft + 5ft/2CL)
Save: DC15 Ref for 1/2 damage

Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) = 7

So good for a level 1 spell. Love it to death.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Do enemies not go into negative HP anymore?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Ok, so we don't actually know where he is. No way for Matthias to perception check from above so I can aim?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

I can't knock him out, but I could murder his face, restrain him and then keep him from dying entirely (he would be unconscious but stable).

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

I am asking the party of I should try and kill him. I could help deal with the goblins instead. I'm thinking it probably won't work, but it could kill him.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Should I try and kill the quickling, or just let him go uncontested?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

As he leaves my area of influence do I get a AoO that I can use to attempt to grapple the quickling?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Tried to imply it was the quickling with the sentence above Evil Eye. Sorry, guess I didn't make it clear.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah begins to cackle. A look of manic glee on her face.

So much excitement! I love this town!

She glares at what she doesn't know is a quickling.

Evil Eye: Saving Throws (DC 15):

-2 to AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. Range: 30 ft. Duration: 3 + Int Modifier (7) Rounds. Will Save: Duration is 1 round. Special: Penalty is -4 at level 8.

Cackle:

I shouldn't have to explain this one. ;]

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Pffffffffffffffffffff. Someone's angry ;]

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah is browsing the festival, still giddy from her brief 'date' with Oberst. She glances in the direction of the chaos.

That was a grand time with Oberst, wasn't it? Let's go see what all the commotion is about. Should be exciting!

With that, Niah begins her chanting as she checks that all her gear is in order and heads towards the noise.

Oh goody! Looks like we get even more entertainment!

Niah sends Matthias high into the air once more and her chanting becomes more pronounced. She readies herself for the coming conflict.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Matthias often acts like a lookout above, alerting Niah to relevant changes in battlefield conditions

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Snerks...haha. In other news, I have returned to air conditioned society.

Niah puts 10 gp in the hat.

Can you, uh, come with me now?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Matthias dances on her shoulder as he plays and Niah's eyes widen with joy.

That was amazing! Woudld you, uhm, like to walk around the festival with me. I think we could probably have some fun or something. Only if you really want to though...

On vacation, internet here is sooooo slow. I'll post when I can.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah squees.

Oh my god! Oberst!? I never though I would see you again after you quit the band! How have you been? Can you sing us a song?

Matthias fidgets excitedly on Niah's shoulder.

It seems Niah's obsessive habit of arcane chanting is suppressed in the presence of Oberst.

Perhaps if you bet on the blue hedgehog and then say "Gotta go fast!" at the beginning of the race he will win everytime?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Assuming it is bright outside.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27

Niah decides it would be best to see what the ruckus is about and heads towards the Inn of the Lost Winds.

Let's go see the bard, Matt. I'm sure if nothing else we will get to hear interesting stories. Lost in thought for a moment, she looks back at Matthias. Bards really are great, aren't they?

Matthias once again nods in agreement.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah continues her rambling, but she looks lost in thought.

I didn't see anyone use any kind of dart or poison.

Niah inspects the dart and sense magic afoot.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 241d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah loots the suddenly comatose goblin.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

With the collapse of the creature, Niah calms, a look of confusion on her face as if she only recently woke from sleep. She examines the surroundings and her eyes seem to light up with understanding. She begins chanting again.

The falcon swoops down from the sky and perches on her shoulder once more. She strokes the large bird's chest.

That was exciting, wasn't it?

Matthias ruffles his feathers in agreement.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

So true, but its totally working, no?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

I probably shouldn't have used to word 'stack' to describe it as it is misleading. bonuses/penalties from the same source do not stack when they are a bonus/penalty of the same type. But how awesome would it be if I could just give it an ever increasing -2 AC every turn?

Niah quiets down momentarily, close inspection shows that she is mouthing words quietly. She then looks back at the Owlbear grappling the Cleric and bursts into laughter once more.

Evil Eye (Saving Throws | DC 15):

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah bursts into a manic grin that threatens to split her face in two at the sight of the tiefling charging the owlbear. Her teeth parting, the laughter continues.

Evil Eye (Attack Rolls | DC 15):
-2 to AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. Range: 30 ft. Duration: 3 + Int Modifier (7) Rounds. Will Save: Duration is 1 round. Special: Penalty is -4 at level 8.

Cackle:

I love that Evil Eye stacks. It makes it so awesome.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

It isn't going to let me edit that post to add my first action so I will just have to commit the sin of double posting.

Niah's eyes unfocus momentarily, as if she is drawing upon some unknowable power. Snapping into focus, she directs a power stare upon the owlbear.

Evil Eye (DC 15 | AC):
-2 to AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. Range: 30 ft. Duration: 3 + Int Modifier (7) Rounds. Will Save: Duration is 1 round. Special: Penalty is -4 at level 8.

She then smiles and begins laughing maniacally before returning to her chanting.

Cackle:

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah looks the large man over.

You would be surprised, I have seen...

A ruckus interrupts her. Turning around, Niah sees the rampaging owlbear.

*sigh* Always with the chaos.

I'll have to get back to you on that one. Let's go, Matt.

With that Niah sends Matthias up into the air and begins her mystical rambling once more, this time with great enthusiasm as if its purpose was about to be fulfilled.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah begins looking over the pies, periodically pointing at one and then looking at Matthias. Finally Matthias nods his head.

We will take that chicken pie.

Niah walks towards the the large man periodically passing Matthias some of the pie on the way.

Why are you selling cold iron weapons in a festival full of fey?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah looks at the merchant.

Few are worth trusting. Including yourself.

I'll have to take your word for it. Niah suddenly glances down at the ground as if she forgot something. Quickly muttering several of her arcane phrases she suddenly seems satisfied and returns to look at the woman. Yes, your word for it. Tell me about these pies. What is in them?

***EDIT***
Changed the formatting of the skill checks to: Me; Familiar. I'll specify who is rolling the check if only one of us does it in the future. If this changed the sense motive rolls they were originally: 15; 13.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 241d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

As the goblin gets distracted by the noisy tiefling, Niah turns to Matthias, shrugs and then returns her attention to the fish monger.

It appears he has found something more interesting to do. Please pass this fish on to your next customer.

With that, Niah continues her arcane chanting and goes off to explore the rest of the festival.

I wonder if there is a booth for information on this event?

I'm sure we will find something to eat here, Matt...or at least something worth looking at.

Matthias beak clicks once more, this time in agreement.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah smiles at the goblin.

I wouldn't have asked unless I was willing to pay. I felt bad for questioning your taste.

Niah asks the fish monger for the price of the fish and buys it for her associate.

Enjoy.

Niah observes the strange goblin and begins mouthing words in her strange language once more.

How much for the fish?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah pauses, and looking the fish over returns her gaze to her goblin acquaintance. It requires visible effort to end her chanting of archaic phrases.

How does this one look? Raw enough for you?

Matthias clicks his beak, almost chuckling.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah's stomach growls and Matthias gives her the "look".

Alright Matt, let's eat. Let me see...

Niah looks over the fish to make sure they are appropriate for both her and Matthias.

Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Her face suddenly contorts oddly as if she suddenly realized something she had heard and she glances over at the goblin next to her. Her face contorted in slight disgust.

Raw? Really?

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

What a strange, fast talking fish monger. He looks somehow reminiscent of childhood.

Niah trusts few people, especially merchants--particularly those who talk like salesman.

Niah stops her arcane rambling.

Tell me more about these fish you have here. Her eyes briefly glaze over as if lost in thought. You seem to have a lot of unique species.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Niah felt comfortable here. So used to the persecuting stares of others as she passed by, the variety of individuals and creatures at the festival and the ease with which everyone handled it was foreign but welcome. This comfort was in no small part due to everyone's acceptance of Matthias riding on her left shoulder. Usually the large raptor was off-putting to others and she was forced to have Matthias fly overhead or wait outside the town--as her only constant companion for decades this had always caused her no small amount of unease.

As she was enjoying the sights and sounds she heard a sharp cry. Quickly turning around she noticed that the youngest of a group of children had fallen and rushed over.

Niah always had a soft spot for children but as she approached the child's eyes locked onto Matthias and started to widen with fright, filling with tears. In that brief moment she looked into his eyes and saw depthless pools into the soul. This child was genuine and unmolested by the greater worries of the world. She smiled warmly.

It's ok, he's my best friend. He's only worried about you and he always looks scary like that. She winks. Let me see what's wrong.

The child took one last look at Matthias and then showed Niah his left hand and knee. Both of them had been scuffed in the fall.

Hold them still so I can clean them. Close your eyes, it looks worse than it really is and might make it hurt more.

The child put his hand and knee close to one another and closed his eyes. Using her waterskin, Niah poured the water over the wounds and began rubbing them clean, smiling as she applied a hex to mend the injuries.

As she watched the injuries faded, the child's eyes shot open filled with surprise at the lack of pain. He took one look at his now wet but uninjured hand and knee, cracked an enormous smile and hugged her before running off to continue to play with the friends that were standing on the sidelines.

Niah stood as the child ran off and suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. She shuddered as her face grimaced. She knew what was about to happen, it happened almost everytime.

She turned around and locked eyes with what could only be the child's mother. In contrast to him, the mother's eyes were closed to the world, barriers thrown up between her soul and those outside from years of experience with the hardships of life. They appeared warm, but Niah could see the coldness within them--they were untrustworthy.

The woman thanked Niah for helping her child.

No problem. I am happy to... Niah's eyes unfocus and she quietly mouths a few words, whos meaning are wholling unknown to those around her. She then snaps back to looking at the woman. ...help in any way I can.

The woman looks at Niah, confusion and discomfort on her face after the exchange. She then shrugs, thanks her again and goes back to enjoying the festival.

Niah sighs. They always react like that.

Feeling a familiar squeezing on her shoulder, she follows Matthias's gaze to a nearby fish stall.

Hungry are you, dear? Let us see what we can do about that.

She then heads towards the stall, quietly mouthing words in her secret tongue.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

I'm ready to get started.

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

And thus the Witch makes her appearance.

A pleasure to meet you all.
