Niah is browsing the festival, still giddy from her brief 'date' with Oberst. She glances in the direction of the chaos.

That was a grand time with Oberst, wasn't it? Let's go see what all the commotion is about. Should be exciting!

With that, Niah begins her chanting as she checks that all her gear is in order and heads towards the noise.

Oh goody! Looks like we get even more entertainment!

Niah sends Matthias high into the air once more and her chanting becomes more pronounced. She readies herself for the coming conflict.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Matthias often acts like a lookout above, alerting Niah to relevant changes in battlefield conditions

Game Master

What is this? You're implying you went on a date wiith The Bard? I don't remember The Bard agreeing to a date with you? lulz. I remember The Bard running off the fight evil with his buddy.

DC 20 Perception checks:

Anyone who rolled a 20 or higher notices small little spidery creatures appear to be milling about the woods near the battlefield. They are around the size of a watermelon, with thin daddy long-leg style legs. They appear to be made of copper or brass, and running off some sort of clockwork mechanisms.

You also, if you remember, may have seen a few of them scuttling through the market here or there.

Driana half laughed at the ugly brute "hah, not like I want it, just gonna get in my way...smells too!"

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Noticing the scuttling spider things for the first time, she quickly added in an equally excited tone, but with a hint of concern.

"More things are about, there, and there." she pointed the creatures out with the tipp of her blade.

2.Zern
3.The Gremlins
4.Driana
5.Esther
6.Niah

Round 1

The group of strange fey appear rather startled to see people running towards them, rather than away. They quickly stop whatever it is they were doing and turn their attention, and their weapons, on the group.

The slightly larger of the creatures (though still smaller than you) darts with such lightning speed that he resembles a blur while he moves. He almost instantly appears near Driana in F4, and stabs at her with what appears to be a large needle.

Attack vs. your flat-footed AC.

attack roll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
damage roll: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 (minimum 1)
sneak attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

The creature is so fast, Driana is unable to block his attack, and takes 4 damage.

Gremlins will take double move actions to get into an attack position after Zern posts

Game Master

By "gremlins will move after Zern", I really meant to say everyone go ahead and post round 1 actions, because that's all they will be doing :P

Map update

Zern, just bear in mind those 4 are not actually there during your turn, and are at their previous locations.

So much excitement! I love this town!

She glares at what she doesn't know is a quickling.

Tried to imply it was the quickling with the sentence above Evil Eye. Sorry, guess I didn't make it clear.

Game Master

I'm going to be honest, I did not even see that line. Maybe it wasn't there? Who knows? The edit button is a fickle thing. Anyways...

Niah:

Not a Quickling's Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

So he has a pen to his future saves. I'm going to just assume all future saves because you're probably just going to sit there and cackle forever. lols.

Damn, Driana... 20 damage? Looks like the monster's are gonna have to step up their game.

Driana's massive sword finds it has a wonderfully knack for hitting the Quickling very hard. However, althought it does a massive amount of hurt to the poor little guy, you feel like maybe it could have done more if it was cold iron. Kinda like the vendors told you.

The Quickling finds itself somewhat transfixed by Niah's intense stare. He starts feeling rather bad about himself. He starts to wonder why it is all women make him feel so terrible. He thinks so deeply about it he almost entirely forgets that he is on the cusp of death. At death's door, if you will. Or perhaps, at about exactly 7 HP, if you will.

As of right now, I still am waiting to see what Zern does, but if we don't hear from him relatively soon go ahead and everyone post their actions and I will sort it out if need be.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 1/ Alchemist 1/ Monk 1 HP: 28/28, AC20, Saves (8F /5R /2W), Initiative +1, Perception +5, Darkvision 60ft.

Zern delays until the quicklings move up to the group and then lashes out at the nearest one, wrapping him up and taking him to the ground in a grapple.

Grapple start: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 vs. CMD of one of the quicklings.

"Ha, hold still now! If you don't squirm it won't hurt as much!"

Game Master

Technically, only one is a quickling, but I gotcha. 8P

Round 1:

Quickling attacked Driana.

Zern stands stoically, apparently waiting for the opportune moment. %he four little bat creatures follow their leader into battle, albeit quite a bit slower. They all make double move actions and get into position.

At this time, Zern rushes forward and easily grabs one of the little guys, and he is now grappled.

So, my fault because I forgot, but the quickling totally has 20% miss chance, which I did not roll...

1d100 ⇒ 7

Since I forget, I am going to say he didn't make the roll and still took the damage, and that roll was just to show you all that he can do it ;P So next time... watch out!

Driana gives a smirk and swings her greatsword at the fast little bugger, managing to connect a very decent blow. The creature noticeably winces in great pain, but is still standing.

Esther venomously stares at the creature, attempting to entrance him in her gaze, but he appears to be unaffected.

Niah, on the other hand, gives him The Look, and he is noticeably taken aback.

Round 2, Fight!

acrobatics check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34

The quickling does not like The Look that Niah is giving him. He hates it even more than he hates Driana's sword. He lightning quick tumbles his way past Driana and strikes at the witch with a Spring Attack.

YAAAH!

attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

He hits Niah for 3 damage, and then just as quick as he came, he bounds off to safety in the trees.

As he leaves my area of influence do I get a AoO that I can use to attempt to grapple the quickling?

Game Master

No, because he has the Spring Attack feat, which does not provoke an AoO from the person he is attacking, and he made an acrobatics check to avoid the AoO from Driana.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 1/ Alchemist 1/ Monk 1 HP: 28/28, AC20, Saves (8F /5R /2W), Initiative +1, Perception +5, Darkvision 60ft.

Zern maintains the grapple on the little "quickling". Grapple Check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29 and then will pin him.

It happens to me too. I swear you guys edit things while I'm posting about it, and then I hit submit and my post is now meaningless ;P

Are you honestly asking me that question?

I can't knock him out, but I could murder his face, restrain him and then keep him from dying entirely (he would be unconscious but stable).

Game Master

I would just like to reiterate that none of you know where the quickling is. He's just on the map under that tree so I know where he is. Technically, he is hidden from you. Technically, none of you really know it is a quickling, although you could probably very easily make knowledge checks ;P

Female Sylph Witch (Wordcaster) 3 | HP: 17/20 | AC: 13/13/10 (+2 vs NMR) | Init: +3 | Perc: +5/+8 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +6 | Will: +6

Ok, so we don't actually know where he is. No way for Matthias to perception check from above so I can aim?

Game Master

I mean, he jumped into the forest, and all you can see is trees and brush etc. So, I do not know how much help it would be. You would have to go into the vegetation.

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

well it is something that esther could do :) jump in the forest after some bad guy...

Round 2

Zern manages to easily pin the gremlin he is holding to the ground by throwing him down and stepping on him with his foot.

The creature frantically attempts to escape.

escape artist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

But it cannot get out from under Zern's boot.

The fascinated gremlin wavers back and forth as it remains transfixed by Esther's gaze. The other nearby gremlin steps up and attacks, attempting to break Esther's concentration and free his ally. Itjumps up and it slashes at Esther with a small sword that appears to be little more than a crude blade attached to a chunk of wood, and follows up his swing with a vicious bite.

Niah points her finger towards the goblins near Esther. The air crackles with power and everyone feels a distinct electric charge growing, emanating from behind the goblins (Square C9).

Her eyes filled with glee, her voice rises and she incants:

End of Round 2:

Niah says some crazy gibberish and then KABAM! an arcing bolt of electricity explodes and disintegrates the two gremlins near Esther.

Driana, with an evil glint in her eye and a skip in her step, completely and utterly rips the poor gremlin in front of her in half.

Zern still pins the last remaining gremlin that you can see... but you hear what sounds like strange chanting quickly getting louder and approaching you from the woods where the quickling ran to...
