Public Service Announcement This is not a Recruitment. This is an exercise in 1st level character creation. Had this been a real Recruitment, this campaign would last for a prolong period of time. Since this is only an exercise in character creation, this facsimile of a campaign will dissolve within 3 months. This is the conclusion of our Public Service Announcement.
Breath of the Gods: have you ever ran a play by post campaign before? What you are proposing is very difficult to run, even in a face to face game. If you could provide some links to previous games you have ran online, that would be helpful. It would be nice to see review your play style and posting rate. You are asking people to spend hours to make characters for this campaign. I would hate to see that time go to waste. Thank you.
Any chance he plans on making you all magic rings that will garner you power and wisdom? Because.... Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Hey all, I'm going on a road trip over the next three of weeks. I tried to find somebody to run the game in my absence, but no takers. Even so, I may shut this game down. Everybody is not posting at the daily rate as agreed upon, even though players are able to post frequently on other games. This has been brought up multiple times already, so we are moving into dead horse territory. I'll send out PMs upon my return if I feel like continuing the game.
"How gruesome. Be sure it is accounted by the intakers. Since there is nothing else, see you all at the auction." ----------------------------- Alex tries to track down Iulia, but it appears she has ranged well beyond the environs of Belhaim. At this point in time, the party has a month to do what they wish. They can also make purchases outside of the normal limits that Belhaim provides. Just let me know what you wish to buy.

Baroness Devy continues to politely ask questions of Kale & company until she is able to extract a complete report and all of her questions have been answered throughout the meal. She is surprised to hear of Hunclay's secret cave and is proud of the party's honesty in reporting its contents. "I must say I am delighted to have this task be finally completed. As per our agreement, 5000 gold marks. And you must be present for the auction. I figure we can make the proper arrangements and have everything categorized in about a month. "I am sure it was hard not to pilcher a bobble or two. Abadar awards such honesty to keep the scales even. In addition to the 5000 marks, I will pay half the winning bid of any lot any one of you wishes to bid on. Please be aware that I can only afford such generosity caps up to 7,500 gold marks for the total of the auction. "Until such time, feel free to make Belhaim your home. If there is anything you wish to purchase, just let Tymek know. He can import specialty items from Cassomir if you put in your request early enough. "Very well, is there anything else?" Congratulations, you Explored the Estate. Each PC has earned 320 XP and the party has earned 5000 gp.
Lady Origena bows in acknowledgement of both Vretiel and Iskra's introductions. "A student of Bassy. That is high praise since she does not take on many pupiles, but those that do flourish in the world. I am happy to hear of your return and willingness to help out with our small quandary." Returning her attention back to Kale's story, the Baroness response in shock and delight. "Oh, my. A possessed dragon, you say? I did not know such a thing could happen. Then you were indeed the right people for this job. "As for the chair, I do hope it is still in one piece. If you have not done so already, please leave a notation as to which chair it is so that our accountants can be safe during inventory. "Is there anything else?"
Lady Origena looks passed the party to the far wall where the God of the First Valut's Golden Key is on display in a aureole. Nodding in understanding, the Baroness replies. "I understand. However, as de facto executor, every item must be inventoried and placed in the trust. I will say that I can have the painting separated from one of the major art lots. With it separated, I can site doctrine that the painting should be bequeathed to your group since you are apart of the subject matter, ergo have first right of refusal, etc, etc. Ol Hunclay must of thought highly of you to have a painting created of your likenesses from memory. Please, continue on."
The page shrugs his shoulders and casually says, "Good enough for feudal work. The Baroness invites you to sup with her this evening and to review your report. Good day." With a snap of his heels, the page about faces and returns to the Baroness's manse. Calli, normally stoic in the face of danger, turns emotional. With the death of Hunclay and now discovering the sort of dealings he has made over the years, it has become too much for her. An adventurer's life is a hard way to make an easy living, but it is made harder when somebody who is like a father figure is involved. She states she will most likely join a nunnery at the nearby Castle Anthrax. She wishes the party well and hopes to reunite in the future over a few drinks. Maff also departs, but states that she will remain within the environs. She will range up and down the creek north of Hunclay's manor. She will pass by Hunclay's at sunset if ever needed. ------------------------------------------------- After making themselves presentable, the party approaches the manor house near dusk. Iulia, finally over her illness, trails the party. She doesn't say anything but looks up at the full moon starting to rise in the twilight. She then suddenly and grotesquely transforms into some lupine monstrosity. Sweet-tooth, the power-pig, also turns into some horrific, porcine beast. After both metamorphoses concludes, they bound away into the forests in the north. A mist mysteriously close in on the edge of town, as if to swallow the two of them back into the unknown. Furrowed brows of worry and confusion waif over the party. A banquet is set out before our heroes in the customary style. The main course presented is that of grilled eel in a brown butter sauce and capers. Fresh buckwheat loaves with steam arising from their tops are paired with finely woven honey. Finally for an accent of color and a special delicacy, fresh stone fruit quartered for easy eating are placed about in small bowls. There are decanters of water and nectarine wine to help with digestion. The page enters the banquet hall to make an announcement. "Her Lady Origena Devy and heir Arnholde." Dressed in a midnight dress with a purple sash of authority, a silver haired woman with an ageless face enters the hall. Following her is a young man, with shoulder length brown hair, a strong jaw line and a decorative saber at his side. Lady Devy's purple eyes dart about the group as her lips purse a bit as she rounds the table to the head chair. "Welcome to all. I see the number is the same, but we have some new faces. I am unaware of of Mistress Honas performing any services this month. So any causalities were hopefully not fatal. "Either way, when you are ready, please report your findings. I would like to get the business out of the way first." The Lady takes her seat as her son stands behind her. She begins to nibble on a peach awaiting the details of the exploration.
Thanks for the heads up, v. Oh don't worry about us. If you are posting instead of dancing, I will be very disappointed. Enjoy Cuba and have a mojito for me! If you can, let me know what Vretiel would like to do during the down time. The party will have about a month off. Purchases outside of what the town can normally provide can also be made since the Trade Store can put in an order of items and have them arrive within the down time span. This will all make sense in the game play. While not 10 days, I'll gone throughout the weekend, starting tomorrow morning. I should be back on the boards late Monday or sometime Tuesday.
Placing his palm on the brass seat, a surge of electricity reaches out and shocks Haruf into belief that the trap is still there. Haruf, DC 20 Reflex save or take 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6) = 16 points of damage. The pale masked shae cocks her head to the right. "Pardon, ser. Devices infused with the Art are a delicate business. I am still weakened from the Illumination Wall. Also without the proper tools, such devices can be difficult." Haruf asks around town to see if there is anybody that can disarm magical traps in Hunclay's manor. With a few weird glances, nobody admits to having such roguish abilities. Half the people give off the impression that they would not be caught dead in the wizard's manor. During the group's walkabout town, a blonde hair boy with a page cut and purple tunic presents himself. "Greetings. The Baroness is inquiring on the status of your present task on behalf of Belhaim."
Shipping the book from Europe would still be cheaper then then $200+ There is a guy on eBay selling one for $55. He is using Best offer, so you maybe can save $10. Printing the PDF and binding it would be the next best option. If you want really fancy binding, you can go to a site like lulu.com to have it done. But, I would stick with comb binding from Kinko's myself. Don't forget the clear plastic covers.
Even with his eyes closed, Vretiel is still blinded by being within arm's reach of the light wall. After performing his best Pollock impression, the Wall of Light his permanently shuttered. The shae glides out of her cell and ends with a bow. "Well Met and thank thee. For this rescue, I am at thine service and company for the duration of thy quest. Alas, the Burning Wall has weakened me and I shall needed magical aid to restore my strength. I have but two requests. First, thy people are strange to me and I to them. I shall reside out the boarders of this town and rejoin when you depart. Second, have ye found my armour?" Congratulations. You have rescued Maffei. The party has gained 480 XP.
Greetings all. I'm looking to see if anybody would be willing to run my Dragon's Demand game for a couple weeks starting the beginning of March? I'm going into the backwoods, so PbP would be difficult and I don't want my game to die from inactivity. Current Events in Dragon's Demand:
The party would be starting the 3rd Act. Most likely you would just have to run the next combat that ensues This game isn't being run under PFS, but I know the Flaxseed is where all the great DMs gather. =v) Any interest or questions, feel free to post them here or PM me. Thank you in advance.
One point of Linguistics only grants the ability to read and write one additional language. We won't have to go through the process of learning Aklo, just that you are learning it between now and when you level. However, even understanding Aklo, the check to decipher this intricate & exotic text is high.
Sorry to see you go, Calli, but it is understandable. I'm surprised you lasted this long with as many games as you are currently in. That Recruitment page is a dangerous buffet that is easy to over-gorge on. I appreciate you lasting until now since its a good time to exit, yet so close to our 1 year anniversary! I was at least hoping to get some flowers out of the deal ;) Good luck with your other games and may life's journey keep you entertained.
The charm unlocks three of the standard sized chests. Inside are small cloth pouches of 100 coins in each pouch. The total comes up to 11,300 cp, 7,200 sp, 1,800 gp, and 60 pp. Alex passes the charm over the last chest, but it does not unlock. He does feel arcane energy dispel. With the chest still locked, Haruf nods as he steps into his role. He doesn't detect any traps and proceeds to work. His first attempt is unsuccessful. Haruf realizes this lock is made of brass and of extraordinary craftsmanship with a unique keyhole. Understanding he has some work ahead of him, Haruf settles in on the ground, gently caressing the chest as he works. Whispering to himself in orc as he picks and pulls every gear and tumbler. With beads of sweat rolling off his brow after too many failed attempts, the final tumbler is unlocked and the chest is opened. Inside the final chest are Hunclay's greatest treasures. Sitting atop an exquisite darkwood case are four packets of enhanced dust of darkness and a scroll of permanency (CL 12th) in a mithral scroll tube. The darkwood case contains five books. Four of these are rare antique tomes on astronomy written in Ancient Osiriani. The fifth tome is a tattered volume titled Secrets of the Dreaming Dark. Secrets of the Dreaming Dark is a very old and massive tome, several hundred pages long and bound in black leather. It claims to be a translation of a much older book, but the book's original author is unknown. The pages are scribed in Aklo in cramped handwriting, and include complex star charts and maps of strange, distant worlds. There are numerous breathtaking illustrations of eerie monsters and alien gods as well. Unfortunately, pages or even entire chunks of the ancient text are loose or missing here and there throughout. To gain a sense of what this book entails requires the ability to understand Aklo and days of devotion to the task (along with a Linguistics check). Finally there are a few hand-written notes: After years of study, I have finally gained access to the Dominion of the Black. I may have been fool-hearty into rushing into conjuring the neh-thalggu for interrogation. Looking back, I believe the protection measures for that ritual have been missing. For being one of the smartest explaners, it had no desire for discussion. I had to slay the damnable retch. But waste not, for I animated the beast to protect these caves. I will have add more traps and guardians in the fashion of Acererak in the future. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ I feel my mind breaking. I fear I may have delved too deep into the Dark Tapestry. My quest for knowledge has lead me to perform unspeakable acts. But they have ends. Each tome I study, each creature I call, another sliver, a crumb, a piece to the bigger picture: information, vitality, immortality. Peering into the limbo between the stars. To touch the mind of the Old Gods and gleam guidance to live evermore. Their power is maddening, but to manipulate it, control it, for that would be worth reality. The voices I hear, Their Voices, it must be them guiding me to the next step. But I fear I may have made one deal with the devil too many. Perhaps old friends can help me. But I am not as I once was. Have I gone too far? I was on but the start of my journey when we met, now I am near the end. Close, so close. Do I even want to go back...
There is an faint aura of magic on each of the chests. Looking at the quality of the chests, it would be safe to assume that Detect Magic would not be able to penetrate the iron framework. Detect Magic + Spellcraft DC 17:
The aura of magic is from the abjuration school Your resident rogue has been AWOL for a week. I did send him a PM, but this is unlike him. The party may need to think outside the box if they wish to open these chests. =v)
Kale lands a prophetic finishing blow. The abomination weals up in a final spasm. It then comes down with its mouth agape down upon Kale. She is drenched in slime, but otherwise unharmed. After pulling the husk off of Kale, there are 4 locked iron chests on the eastern side of the cavern. Three of them are relatively unremarkable. The fourth, however, is twice the standard size of any of the other three. It also appears to be finely manufactured. Congratulations, you slayed a neh-thalggu zombie! Each PC earns 267 XP.
Still up for the fight, the undead demon's tongue rolls about its mouth. Slime and pus pours between its teeth as it tries to bite Kale again. Bite vs Kale: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
Not waiting for the killing blow, the zebub let's out an infernal curse and POP! its gone. New Round. Everybody is up!
Alex's arrow strikes true into the zebub. It look at the wound in surprise at to how deep the arrow went. Iskra floats up the top of the 10' ceiling, at eye level with the devil. Pow-Pow-Power Attack![/UnReal Announcer] Kale grips her halberd tight and continues to cut down the undead beast. Undead Beast Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"Curse the gods!" the devil cries out clutching at its compound eyes. Calli & Haruf are up!
The call is coming from inside the house! Honestly, its echoing throughout the cave. Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 Vretiel tries to hex the monster again, but being mindless sometimes has its advantages. Alex's arrow scratches the shell, performing minimal damage. Ichor begins to flow more from the creature's maw. Its stench is overwhelming as it tries to bite Kale again. Bite vs Kale: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
Within everybody's minds, a child-like scretching voice can be heard. "Hunclay's pets are now playing fetch. Let me re-introduce you to some of my friends. He-he-he" 1d100 ⇒ 78 "Damn the heavens. Unreliable sods. Anyway, that weapon looks dangerous. Better put that down." A thick grease suddenly appears all over Kale's halberd making it difficult to hold on to. At the same time, the childlike blasphemy which conjoins the features of a plump human infant and a gigantic, gore-fattened fly appears from behind the large monstrosity. Kale, Reflex DC 12 or drop the halberd. If the first save fails, then a new save will be needed each time it is picked up or used. New Round. Battle Map updated. Everybody is up!
Kale drops her pole arm to pull out her halberd. She is easily able to slash through the rotting carapace of the undead creature. Alex moves into the room while tapping his bow string. The twine turns to vines and the bow becomes knotted with a heavenly glow. Haruf stands shocked at the beast before them. The undead abomination opens its mouth wide with a gurgling hiss and tries to bite Kale. Bite vs Kale: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
A familiar devilish laugh echoes throughout the cavern, far too crisp and clear to have come from the monster before the party. New Round! Everybody is up! Battle Map is updated.
I'm moving Iskra into the room because she has no line of sight/effect from the back row. Iskra bravely moves into the room. The unnatural warmth and stench worsens as she nears the creature. Rainbow colored balls of energy slam into the creature's eye-legs. Anastasia frantically wraps herself around Vretiel in panic, nearly strangling her master in the process. Steadfast, the witch moves into the room as well to curse the abomination. Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Alex, Kale & Haruf are up! Battle Map updated
Owe me a soda, no take backs! Tossing the lit pebble and following up with it, the shallow water ends at the entrance to a large cave. The air within is almost uncomfortably warm. Four chests sit at the far side of the cavern. The ceiling, studded with stalactites, is ten feet high above the floor and the entrance. In the center of the secret cave is a thing of nightmares. This crab-like creature has a lamprey mouth which is held slightly slack. There are rolling-milky eyes on its legs, and several opaque blisters along its back that hold molded human brains. The creature's claws appear to be snapped and chipped in places with ichor pouring out from in-between its joints. The smell of death and rot permeate throughout the room. A wet hiss emanates from its jaw as it begins to skitter forth. Haruf: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Knowledge Religion DC 15:
This thing is some type of zombie. Besides having undead traits, slashing weapons are the best way to wound it. Knowledge Dungeoneering DC 18:
This was a neh-thalggu, one of the smartest aberrations. But not any more. It can still fly though. Round 1. Fight! Everybody but Calli is up. Battle Map is updated. If you are on the water (blue), you can't see into the cave.
Nobody that produces them. Alas the the resident wizard has recently passed. There is another witch in town, but she isn't too friendly. To ease everybody's mind, after the business with Hunclay's estate is completed, you'll have amble shopping time. After a full belly of mutton and a good night's rest, the party prepares for the day to explore Hunclay's secret cave. There is already murmurings of how the party has exterminated the wolf threat that has been plaguing Abrassus farms. Random Encounter: 1d6 ⇒ 2 The party returns to the site of the cave. It appears the early buzzards have already gotten to the eyes and tongue of the slain wolves. Let me know how you would like to proceed.
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Prake Abrassus swats something away from his head but is unable to find it. His eyes narrows a bit at Vretiel's pretty-boy speak. He scratches his chin at the wolf remark. "Thought it was wolves. Damn knitting circle has the town in a dizzy with talk of monsters. Best you here for the bounty, eh elfie? Well, a deals a deal. I'll get ya gold and a couple of quarter legs. If but you be lying to me, I'll be coming back for your legs. Har-har-har!" Prake leaves and returns with a few helpers holding some freshly butchered legs of lamb. They toss the bloody hunks of meat into Vretiel's arms whether he fights them or not. The three of them give the elf a look of pride, followed by one that would be an act of sacrilege should he drop the prized portions. "I like ya'll. Good to see some new blood around here. Come by anytime for supper. You look like you can tell a good tale." With a tap of his crook to his crown, Prake Abrassuss takes his leave. The party has acquired 800 gp and Abrassus farm is now Helpful. I'll move things along in about 12 hours if nobody else wants to do something in town.
Iskra still has Shocking Grasp. She could have not cast the spell or it can be held in charge in her hand. Just don't give anybody a hug =v). And she has 0 level spells too.
The pond in front of the cave entrance never gets deeper than four feet at the center. The creek that covers the cave floor is one foot deep, leaving six feet of headroom above. The spring that feeds the creek trickles out of the rock face in the alcove to the west. An increasingly shallow tunnel leads around the corner to the northwest. Anastasia begins to writhe and wiggle rapidly throughout Vretiel's vestments as they close in on the cave. She finally wraps herself around her master's shoulder so that she can look him face to face. Anastasia gives Vretiel a look she hasn't given in a long time. A look of fear. Perception DC 15: You hear a strange skittering and a wet hissing sound echoing from within the cave.
Hello there Rast. Thank you for joining the GM collective. I want to commend on the wise choice of starting PbP with PFS game. Better to go in small and expand later. 1) Under the each of the Online Campaign Headings, there will be a link in the upper right corner titled Add New Thread. Typically, you want to start with the Recruitment page to put out call for players and select from the masses that apply. Once you are ready to start your game, open a thread under the "Play by Post" section. Typically you want to have a strong introduction/narrative to your game typed here. I like to do something akin to a Star Wars crawl or some way to draw in your players. After this thread has be created, there will be options to attach or create a Discussion Thread or Recruitment thread. You can attach your Recruitment thread you've already created. Created a Campaign thread is lends to itself well once to get in and start creating the threads. 2) I just copy the image, then paste it directly onto either Google Slides or Drawings. Then from there you can resize the images to taste. I hope this answers your questions. If not, I'm somebody more capable then I will come along =v) Good luck in your games.
Haruf unsheathes his second dagger, the fading sun glimmers light over their edges. He stretches his arms out to form a cross. Haruf leaps onto the dire wolf's back, plunging a dagger into each of the dire wolf's kidneys. The wolf tries to evade, but Calli holds tight dragging its head to the ground. Haruf alternates stabs, left, right, left, right. Each one brings the dire wolf down upon a knee until all four reach the floor. The dire wolf's tongue flops out of its mouth as it is choked out with a pool of blood trickling toward the beach. With the alpha male defeated, the final wolf turns tail and flees into the trees never to be seen again. AoOs if you want them There is not much left on the corpses that hasn't be torn up by the wolves. Any food they had was eaten or spoiled. Their spare clothes are shredded. Across the river, there cave that has a small pond in front of it. The water is shallow from this side of the bank to the other to make for easy crossing. Congratulations. You've defeated a dire wolf and two wolves. Each PC earns 267 XP.
Kale is a bit too jovial as she misses the dire wolf on her riposte. Alex is a bit overwhelmed by the vomit swarm. He covers up his face and defends himself from the wolves and the spiders. Fort vs Poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
The grey wolf hops out of the swarm and dashes between Alex & Vretiel to get to Calli. The wolf snaps at the monk to try help his wolf-brother. Kale gets AoO if she wants it. Wolf vs Calli: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The dire wolf tries to turn the tides on Calli. It rolls around on the ground in hopes of bringing Calli down and under paw and jaw. Misfortune Dire Wolf vs Calli CMD to Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
New Round! Everybody is up. Dire wolf is still grappled. Battle Map updated.
ah, I see why you asked if Burning Hands would hit Calli since they are grappled. Oh well, error on my part. Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Avoiding to hit Calli, Iskra hands turn away at the last moment allowing the dire wolf to receive only a minor burn. Alex & Kale are up!
