Hello guys,

we start "City of Locusts" soon and i wanted to change out the filleted man against a mythic version of a Beholder. I just love these guys <3.
Has anybody some crazy ideas for it?
We dont play full mythic rules, i use homebrewn mythic powerlevels for the pc , so its not rocket tag.

Thanks for your ideas !

Funny.
Yesterday the sorceror of my group made some serious mistakes. The group knew , fighting in the city is okay as long no harm to the city itself happens.
I had some homebrewn fights in the arena for them and they wanted to challenge the infamous "Dark brothers". The sorceror wanted to ask a young cambion about it, but the youngling did not want to speak to him (Paladin behind scared him).
Sorceror got angry, hurt the kid, a whole bunch of spectators got mad and yelled at him. So he decided to launch a fireball into a the crowd, killing a lot of citizen including kids and women , and setting a part of the arena ablaze.

Well, long story short : Shamira appeared an sentenced him to long-life-prison. Group wanted to fight. All dead, Shamira did not even took a scratch.

Great ! Thanks, brother !

Hey guys , in "The Midnight Isles" is written that in the Abyss :

-Spells and spell-like abilities with the chaotic or evil descriptor are enhanced
-Spells and spell-like abilities with the lawful or good descriptor are impeded

What does this exactly mean?

Hey guys,

as the topic says , i am preparing "The Midnight Isles" and stumbled over a problem:

Movie plot spoiler:
Does it make any sense what Queen Galfrey asks from the PC? I mean , closing the portal from the abyss-side, traveling in the abyss to meet a frikkin demonlord without knowing if Nocticula really wants to help? I mean---shes a demonlord.
Sounds like a sucicidal commando...how can i convince the PC to accept this task (Other than "Its the plot , go for it" or "The queen commands you to do" ) ?

Thanks for the help, guys!

Ben

Okay, thanks for all the input , guys.
I will continue my way and will have a close look on every greater fight.
I hope it will work :)

Hmmm , thanks for ur opinion.
I had 2 deaths in the whole campaign so far...a ranger got himself torn apart by soltengrebbe - he refused to retreat with low life and died through a full attack , the other on was a bit unlucky : The paladin jumped down from their rope trick into 3 shades , got hit 3 times and i rolled 2 6 and 1 5 ...17 str-dmg was too much.

But aside from this they do pretty well. The Pistolero annoys me so much with his touch-attack-shoots.

I guess i will stick with the legendary foes as long as they can handle it and then downgrade them-

But i still want to hear some opinions/advices ! <3

Hey guys,

i am running Wotr for nearly a year an we are in the middle of book 3.

We started the campaign non-mythic with a 25 point buy and i added self-designed legendary-powers for every single character. (pretty cool stuff , its no nearly as powerful as the normal mythic tiers, but add some unusual possibilities to the gameplay) For each Tier they reach, they get one of these powers, no hp, np attributes, nothing else.

At this point, they all have reached tier 3 and the self-designed powers add nearly nothing to their combatpower and still they manage to kill nearly everything without big problems. (except Soltengrebbe , i used scorpions statblocks and Soltengrebbe killed one pc)

Group consists of the following chars :

Marek - 1/8 Monk/Pistolero - highly optimized, a brutal damagedealer , "oneshots" even bigger threads in one round

Thermen - Cleric of Sarenrae , 9 Merciful Healer - nearly no damage but heals like hell

Zaigan - 9 Paladin of Torag - Lots and lots of armor and hp , smiting foes really fast

Dajin - 1/8 Rogue/Wizard FLexible Caster with a lot of useful spells. Mostly not a big thread in fights

Argon - 9 Sorceror - Blaster with some disable spells , shines when the battlefield is packed with minions

After a lot o text now finally the question :

Do you think i can keep the mythical foes , using mythic stuff against my group or will the pc do not stand any chance in higher levels?

Thanks for your advises.

Ben

Took them 2 sessions to clear off the events in Drezen and another 3 sessions for the citadel itself (2 base, 1 cellar)

Jesus Christ.

Well..as i said is started the campaign exactly the same way, except my players still have to roll for HP.
My group had no problems except for the 3 Dretches in the labyrinth and a group of improved Cultists later on in the city.

My conclusion is that ur players either rolled bad or fightet bad. OR u just rolled too good :D

Hey Declindgrunt,
i startet the campaign EXACTLY the same way. Non-Mythic with 25 point stat buy.
I have 5 players (Paladin of Torag , Sorcerer , Cleric of Desna , a Demon Slayer-Ranger and a Gunslinger)
They hacked through every enemy i didnt improve.

Spoiler:
(Except the dretches at the end of the mongrel-lair...it was really funny seeing the Demonslayer run in fear from a dretch and the other guys puking in the maze :D )
They just entered the gray garrison , cant wait to see them face Dreadnu

I planned to cancel out mythic completely butmaybe i will grant them Tier 1 with cancelling out the broken stuff like Wild arcana and then just let them get a level everytime they would get a mythic tier.

Well. I scanned it (High resolution) and printed it as a 1,2 m x 0,9 m poster only to find out that the squares are only 10mm instead of the normal 20 mm.

A player will now make some 10mm bases and we will use that gigantic poster-map :D

Hey guys,

we will play the last part of "The worlwound incursion" next weekend.
So i began preparing "Sword of valor" and found the Citadel of Drezen - Dungeon is freaking huge.

Normally, i get myself 1 or 2 Battlemaps and draw the dungeon on it before we start playing. (Saving time)
But this dungeon is way too big ...
Did you guys draw every single room for the group to discover one by one?

Hm. Sounds like your players had fun.
But tbh, cutting out the whole roleplay with the important NPC sounds like a bad idea (to me).
I had some thoughts about the whole "Manage a lot of NPC" - stuff in this AP but decided to deal with it because its a roleplaying game , so a lot of roleplaying should be part of it.

Regarding the beginning, i got some really nice background stories from my player and writing some stuff for them to feel "home" in Kenabres ,letting them go around the city , take a few drinks, meet some NPC...so the devastation when they realize that its all gone will be big.
Man...one player just drew a map of kenabres into his players diary :D
It will be a great moment when they just listen to Hulrun and then the Storm King appears, Tendelev raising up....this will be great.

We start in 2 weeks, i will give a report :)
Maybe a picture of the players faces when i reveal the new Kenabres map :D

Thanks buddy. I guess i will open a new thread for that.

(Just dicovered the "Alias-option in here) :D
