Their was a Stone Cube artifact in Gods and Magic that was stated out (kinda). It could grant metamagic feats and change shape and fly around. I remember that it always reminded me of the Codex of Infinite Planes in how it was presented as this object that was waaaaay more than what it appears. And it was never updated from 3.5...

He is considerably more powerful than I thought he would be even though Hero Lab pegs him at a CR 5. As a result I've only given him the wealth of a level 5 npc (about 3500gp) and I've only spent it on two items that don't add a whole lot. Hopefully that makes up for the stupid level of synergies I've made here. If it's too much I can reel him in a bit. His base stats are as follows: Str 12, Dex 17, Con 14, Int 13, Wis 10, Cha 17. Level 4 ability bonus point was put in Charisma. I'll throw up backstory and personality later, possibly in another post.
Faerie Dragon it is. Although I was starting to kind of dig the idea of a skeletal champion ninja....no worries though. I'm gonna use my reroll for the dragon's stats: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 4, 3) = 144+3+3=10
So 17, 17, 14, 13, 12, 10 I can work with this just fine.
Caleb D'natin wrote: Will there be anything on paladin codes? What about for the Emperyal Lords? The paladin codes for deities that can have paladins as worshipers appear in the respective "Faiths of" series in the Pathfinder Companion line. The emperyal lords though, man I would love that but I think that's a case of their just being way too many lords and space in the book already at a bit of a premium. I could see a sort of general code for all of the lords as a whole, stressing the need to follow the tenants of whomever the paladin follows. That may be too vague for people though.
Well I have two ideas now. A Faerie Dragon sorcerer (although that may not fit the whole "redemption" theme) whose compulsion spells have stupid saves or a skeletal champion ninja from osirion (or egypt or wherever pyramids and necromancers can be found). Rollin: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 4, 4) = 226+4+4=14

I had an adventure planned out for my players...oh years ago, in Eberron where the PCs are sent to an abandoned House Cannith research lab. At the time I think it was in the Mournland, hence abandoned. Any way, it would be discovered that House Cannith was working with House Lyriander and another House (either Deneith or Kundarak, I can't quite remember) on creating a whole new breed of airship. The PCs were sent to recover the remains of the prototype, which of course is not remains but rather fully intact. After a bit of adventure in the ruins to power it back up, the party would blast out of there only to be attacked by...something. I hadn't quite worked that out yet. They were pretty high level for Eberron (11th I think) so dragons was probably what I was going to go for, but you could easily swap that out with some mutant Mournland thing or a rival pirate group on their own airships. Either way the point was to have a massive chase scene through the canyon the where the hanger of the facility opened up into and give the party the chance to test out their new toy. Think getting the Ebon Hawk in Knights of the Old Republic or your fancy airship in, well, almost any Final Fantasy. Ooooh, idea! The rival pirates are there after a tip off from a dragon who may or may not be watching the whole thing. The tip off is because the dragon has ...issues with the prototype airship in question (Draconic Prophecy issues). The big boss fight could be against the dragon's charmed Drake allies (their are some good CR4-5 drakes that would make great chase scene/final boss fodder).

I think that the skeleton Spoiler: is the body from the Runeforge Halls of Pride.
I'm pretty sure the lich is Azavan of the Halls of Gluttony. The beach as Chopper's Isle makes sense but it might be the Junk Yard from Sandpoint. I have no idea what the basement scene is. One of the goblins is holding a beer...that's a terrifying thought. The cages are definately from the Halls of Lust and last but not least: I think the staff thing is the broken Rod of Absorption from the Halls of Envy. You know the "Mage's Disjunction" trap? Also, screw you Paizo for that trap! I hated that thing! :D Edit: It just clicked that they're gambling in the middle of a ruined basement so I'm gonna agree with the earlier post that said they were beneath the Glassworks. Specifically the group that is chilling with Tsuto.
If their isn't a dragon rider archtype in here, Epic Meepo made one for Cavaliers that I've enjoyed at our game table. Can be found here
I've got a player in a Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign going for the same character concept. So far we boiled the essence of the character to the following: Roof-Runner Rogue with Shingle Runner, Death from Above, and Sneaky Vagabond for feats. He uses a slightly modified spring loaded wrist sheath with a dagger but that's only used for sneak attacks and will be enchanted as such. His primary weapon will be a rapier and he'll be fighting mostly like a duelist. He was originally going to pick up a level or two of fighter but after showing him Eccardian Drovenge from Council of Thieves, we are both convince we can pull it off with pure rogue. He will also be taking the assassin class at some point. We discussed it and while Ezio is certainly a very high moral character with a code of conduct that he adheres to very strictly, the dude still kills people for money. I mean sure, all the missions in AC2 were to help make the world a better place, but as I recall Ezio still made enough money from his contracts to finance the rebuilding of a small town into a rather sizeable community. And didn't the whole thing start off as a giant revenge plot with Ezio hell bent on killing every jerkface who had anything to do with his family's destruction? This is just my take, but Ezio in AC2 just screams Lawful Evil to me.

Ah, but then how do we explain the Spawn? A mad god of destruction locked away for eternity. That's got to get lonely. That could be a hell of an interesting (and possibly squicky) adventure. Finding the mate of Rovagug. This is all assuming he didn't just slough off a scale or body part and animate it.
Anyone else notice how Tarquin hasn't actually used his axe...at all. With the exception of the initial hit on Roy. That's mildy frightening given everything that just happened in the page. A trip, snatch arrows feat, AoO w/ improvised dagger and a grapple + throw. I think the last panel is just going to piss him off enough to start trying.

I always did enjoy the Legacy of Fire support articles more than most and the one on the Spawn was great. Speaking of titanic monsters, any chance of a certain immense creature from Jandelay showing up? If not now, then maybe in the future?
o.O Thanks Judy!! That's great! So the completed list would look about like this:
Though it should (as it was) be noted that the actual cultures of individual nations and groups are as varied as the real world is. With each of these major ethnicities divided up into all sorts of cultures and styles that are not dependent on real world analogues.
Huh...Interestingly enough I just typed Pham Duc Quan Spoiler: of Xa Hoi into google and got a facebook page for someone with that name....there's a sovereign dragon in disguise in vietnam and he has access to facebook. I think he works for the BBC.
the ruler ....I think I'm suppose to be scared right now but my brain just shut off.
I'm getting ready to have some fun in the Dragon Empires and I'm really enjoying the primer and the gazzeteer but me and my players have some questions regarding the various ethinic groups the comprise Tian Xia. What was the ethinic inspiration for each group? We've figured that Tian-Min is based on Japanese and Tian-Shu is based on Chinese but we're having some issues with the others. I was wondering what everyone else's take was. We use this kind of stuff during character creation as it really helps us immerse ourselves in the setting with names and cultural trends. This is what I think but I could be way off:
Also one other question, this one crunch based. Would you be opposed to giving a dwarf proficiency in the Pickaxe instead of heavy pick or war hammer or battleaxe proficiency (or all three). I can certainly just two-hand a heavy pick, but I didn't see the harm in asking
Alright, upon further reflection, it is proving difficult for me to come up with unique demonic units that are actually usable beyond Demonic Horde. The very nature of the Abyss is constant change and for some reason by brain does not like mixing that with strategic warfare. The two seem like some terrible vinegar and Dr Pepper combination. So, unless someone can think of something I would like to retract my Worldwound choice and instead go with my Dibs choice of the Holds of Belkzen (it helps that I have Skeletons of Scarwall in front of me). Name of Country: The Holds of Belkzen Alignment of Country: Chaotic Evil Leader of Country: Grask Uldeth, Orc Fighter (I know Barbarian seems like the obvious choice, but we've got enough of those what with Numeria and the Linnorm Kings, so since its not specified anywhere that I know of, I'm picking fighter) Exotic Units:
This is all of course pending approval by Chainmail. If he says no, and I wouldn't blame him if he did, then I will think of something for the Worldwound.
That may all be a little true, but remember that this is a mass battle game where we're playing countries not people. Class balance is not nearly an issue here. Remember that their are members of every class in every country and while some have dominant members, their are very few that are completely kow towed by mages and even less with armies of spellcasters. In fact the only one off the top of my head that could pull it off is Nex and even then they use magic to create armies, they don't (generally) jump into it themselves. If you want to compare economic and military power then Cheliax is definately not ahead of the pack. Oh they may have a small lead but not enough to warrant double the power in a strategy game. If they had that kind of power they would have started conquering years ago. Their would be no need for the shadow games being played in the Pathfinder Society. Hell they probably wouldn't even bother with vassal states like Isger or Nidal (I realize that Nidal isn't a vassal state but rather an ally, but come on, you really think that's how Queen Abrogail looks at them?). They would just subsume them into the empire and move on to Rahadoum and Andoran while poking at Absalom and Molthune. But they can't for a number of reasons, so they play their shadow game and wait for the advantage. I guess what I'm getting at is that no one country should be given such a huge advantage over the others because of implied power based on fluff. And if you DO do that, then every other country should be given as much consideration. For instance, the Worldwound has a constant tear in the fabric of reality to the Abyss, does that mean I get a constant stream of low powered cheap warriors for little to no buy in cost? Or, to use your Lands of the Linnorm Kings example, maybe economically they can't match Cheliax, but they've been at a semi state of war with Irrisen since it first came into existence, fighting trolls and witches and monsters for centuries. The greatest of them have the bravery, nay, the balls to go up against some of the nastiest creatures in the Bestiary just for a shot (and not a very good one) at a crown. Maybe their economics or their spellcasters aren't up the Cheliax's standards, but do you really think that their warriors couldn't tear those southern dandies a new a-hole in any given fight? Edit: I realize this may come off as aggresive. Please don't take it that way. I'm not attacking you or you're decisions. This looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun and I've always enjoyed strategy games like this. I just don't believe that fluff is adequate for such a power disparity. Use the fluff to enhance everybody so that their is an equal chance all around. I also realize that because I don't know all or even some of the rules, their may in fact be a balancing factor that the other countries have that Cheliax does not. In which case my entire post is rendered pointless and moot and I apologize.
For Numeria, don't forget about the Gearsmen from the Silver Mount. I can imagine those being righteously awesome in a war. Plus SCIENCE!! And for the Linnorm Kings, how about some fey? Isn't there a hole to the First World in the forest there? Imagine if you got your hands on one of the Tane? For Chainmail: Will there be any terrain effects? Not just for simple things like forests or mountains but for things like the Worldwound, the Wardstone line, the Isle of Terror, Gallowspire and the aformentioned rift to the First World. Also, since no one's thought of it (or at least asked), if someone were to pick Varisia, how would that country work? Would it just be the three city states plus Shoanti? Or could maybe a Runelord wake up and lead his armies of Giant slaves and Wizard apprentices against a cowering world? Although now that I think about it, you could treat a Runelord like a magic item and "search" for one like what you mentioned earlier. Something to think about, especially since their's a chance that Xanderghul, the Runelord of Pride is hiding somewhere in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings....I'm just saying.
So this is probably not going to fly in the least, but i figure why not try. Name of Country: The Worldwound Alignment of Country: Chaotic Evil Leader of the Country: Numerous powerful demons, most notably Khorramzadeh, the balor ruler of Iz; Zuhra Aponavicius, marilith conquerer of the crusader city of Drezen; and the demonic Archmage Vahedifar Ayeshalmoutey. Exotic Units: Demons, seriously just a ridiculous amount of demons. But more seriously: Succubus, Incubus, and Shadow Demon Infiltrator groups
If this doesn't work though, then I totally call dibs on the Holds of Belkzen....DIBS!! :)
Honestly in the adventure path you're playing, almost any oracle would be good. Remember they get all cure or inflict spells added to their spells known for free. So you're pretty set for basic positive energy use. It really just depends on what kind of oracle you want to play. The Life Mystery will certainly make you a positive energy powerhouse and give you the condition removal you asked for, but don't rule out the others. The elemental ones are great for blasting (especially Fire). Their are plenty of choices for combat oriented ones including Metal and Battle Mysteries. A player of mine is playing an Ancestors Oracle with a katana who is empowered by the warrior spirits of his bloodline (thing that scene in Mulan with Mushu and all the spirits and you've got an idea). In carrion crown, you could get alot of mileage out of the Heavens Mystery which is a personal favorite. I've always loved how its name makes you think its Angelic based, right up until you read it's powers. Specifically Dweller in Darkness and Interstellar Void. If that doesn't make you scream a little then you are made of tougher stuff than I. Of course then their is the Dark Tapesty mystery which is completely made of mind-bending horrors. What all this amounts too is that you have some damn good choices and even with the stipulations you've asked for (condition removal which can be taken care of with a few key spells, specifically the Restoration spells and the Remove "X" line) you'll still be able to have your pick of tactics. Some item creation can also help your lack of choice by powering through with the spells you do have. A wand of lesser restoration can go a looong way.
I'm definately interested in this but I have one quick question. Where do elves fit in this setting? Any big changes from golarion elves or tolkein elves, anything that makes them stand out? I've got in mind a elven cleric or oracle (w/ Dark Tapestry or Heavens mystery) who believes that the race is nothing more than heralds for something far worse. A little Lovecraft vibe, but nothing that would dominate the story, he would just think that he's better than everyone and that they're all going to die a nasty tentacular death. Some of his powers might push at times. Barring that, i've also got an idea for a LE magus with the mentality of everything and everyone is just another path to power to be exploited, used up, then cast aside.

I get the same issues as Time Bandit. When I logged off completely and then attempted to log back in, it would just shoot me back the home page. After about 5 attempts I refreshed the page just to see and low and behold it said I was logged in in the little bar at the top, but I still get the issue with editing where it just takes me back to the password entry form.
Ooooh, I find myself intrigued sir. I have the "Your Story" book and enjoy the hell out of it. I've made a few characters but never really sat down and played unfortunately. The 1d6 thing with 1-2 is minus and 5-6 is plus is actually suggested in the book in lieu of fudge dice. What kind of game are we looking at? I understand that city creation would be ongoing, but what city would we start in? I've got ideas for an Avatar of Shiva who's also a Surgeon and a father and a Voodoo Bokor Sorcerer who uses his connections to the spirits to get ridiculously rich.
Okay so I have a character concept but I wanted your thoughts on something. I would like to create a fighter or monk wielding a sword, specifically a jian, like what Chow Yun Fat in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Piandao in The Last Airbender (tv series, not movie) wield. I have a backstory worked out, but I'm trying to work out stats. I'd like to use an Aldori Dueling Sword to graceful movements of the character and also use the Aldori Sword Lord archetype for the fighter, reflavoured to be a jian wielding martial artist. If this is a no go, would you be all right with the temple sword used by monks be at least described as a Jian, this amounts to a Weapon Adept monk using a longsword to make Flurry of Blows attacks. If all of that is a no, that's fine too. As a last resort I figure I can still make it work with a Free-Hand Fighter. Thanks for your help in this!
