That Perception check was just a check to see if the pounding was in Mannak's head or if he can discern that there is pounding inside the tent.

Mannak shakes his head and finally stands up feeling much better. He thanks Zootloot for helping him recover and speaks to his comrades, out of Lander's earshot.

Mannak gives a startled yelp as he is struck by the sword and falls down, shaking vigorously. Blood is seen flowing out of his wounds and he breathes heavily as he tries to hang on.
