Maldrek awoke to the sounds of something he hated above all else, the ravings of a self righteous preacher... Time for some payback. Agreal my friend now is not the time to attack...just yet. Let us examine the battlefield and our enemies, I can assure you that soon you will put your falchion through the belly of the self righteous lunatics outside but first we must ensure that we can inflict maximum causalities. perception to figure out battlefield layout1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 using guidance

Maldrek spoke with fiendish cunning as his speech became empowered with the guile and cunning of the Forgemaster himself...casting guidance My friends I applaud your cunning but you simply aren't thinking big enough, this isn't just a chance to take Gazerich out it's a chance to truly deal a decisive blow against the entirety of the Bloody Barbers. With cunning, lies and the right words whispered into the wrong ears we could engineer a gang war between the Bloody Barbers and another faction of the underworld. As for who this faction is I must ask you a question Milax, who besides the Barbers do you despise the most? diplomacy to influence Milax towards the gang war1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Maldrek infused his voice with the base cunning and guile of the forgemaster before he spoke, casting guidance for a 1+ bonus to my roll Before we get to the good news I must report the bad news, we have an infestation of barbers with attitude. There are many opportunities to be had in the area but the barbers like the demons of the worldwound have come pouring from the streets. We met a group of six of them in the street they wanted Noro, they didn't get her needless to say but they recognize your handiwork during our first assignment. The barbers are a destabilizing element that will make any work in the area difficult for the Smoke Knights. However I do have a few schemes in mind for their demise if you wish to hear me out. diplomacy1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

If Maldrek is currently with the group this is the following action. Nevermind on the question this is one confused tiefling. Tis the glory of partying last night, hangover from Hell. That strange man and our equally strange jumping cleric are certainly noisy. But just what goddess does that man follow? casting detect magic

Sorry gm I just could not resist the idea of a camel taxi service... Maldrek awoke slowly and with great effort, that party in the Vengain's manor that he charmed his way into had been exhausting...s*!! what time was it? He was suppose to be at the Crimson Coin by ten, he grabbed his black, spiked chainmail and donned it hastly. Then he charged out from the secret passage beneath his house and went to a street where the camel taxis did business a lot. Taxi, I need to make it to the Crimson coin fast!

Contract Devil: Let me clarify, any request that you, your master, his minions or even Asmodeus himself acting via Belial make must not interfere with the Smoke Knights, violate the code of Fire or threaten the security of Absolam in general. I still retain the right to reject or accept requests from the Forgemaster as I see fit.

Contract Devil: I seek the pact of the warlock, I offer my soul as collateral in exchange you gift me with the powers Infernal. As is standard with a warlock's pact I may take up various services for the Forgemaster and his minions, in exchange for performing said services I do require a reward as the Warlock's Pact stipulates. Also I may reject or accept said requests for service as I deem fit.

gm:
While I personally have it narrowed down to three-four Maldrek doesn't, he is going to basically be paranoid and look over each and every detail concerning the archdevils of Hell. Think of this as the chance to expand your diabolical horizons, afterall this is the smoke knights you could easilly find tons of uses for it as this continues. Sorry for any confusion the following four archdevils have the interest of Maldrek, Barabatos (think of him as the mysterious martial arts master of the archdevils, one of his titles is the Mistletoe Monk afterall). Belial (if there is an archdevil that will rebel against Asmodeus it is this guy), Dispator (be inspired by the rule of the most cunning and ruthless rulers in human history think Genghis Khan and Caesar) and Mestophilies (this is the guy who would have likely written many diabolical texts via aliases, Hell Maldrek could be reading tomes written by him). As for the cold iron weapon that can be a "gift" for sealing a pact. making four knowledge religion checks and taking twenty on them for a total of 27 Each is an individual knowledge check for information concerning Barbatos, Belial, Mestophiles and Dispator.

gm: Maldrek s looking for information concerning the nine archdevils, their enemies, allies, habits and personalities etc... Maldrek intends to cover all bases before making a descision, while he is power hungry he wants to get the most for his bu...er soul. What he wants in effect is to peruse the grimoiries of some of the most famous diabolists in golorian a few of which are possessed by House Tevineg. Lessons of Thrune is good but in terms of scholarship its like the difference between Einstein and say a college psyhics professor...

using hero point arcana check1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 I know it uses however this is something that is once done cannot be undone, as such my choice in patronage must be precise. Alas my knowledge is not the best however for I have learned from only one book which is a rather common if good as these things go. If you do not want to involve the time of the diabolists time in this endevour though I have an alternative, within the library where I work there is a room where some of the better grimoires concerning diabolism are kept. Since I am not a senior librarian I cannot go into the room to read said grimoiries, however if the Smoke Knights don't possess pull within the House of Tevineg then I will be in shock. And such a request is fairly minor in nature, this is not calling out a hit on say a Nomarch... diplomacy1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Before I level up it is time to choose my path of diabolism, so let the roleplaying and ritual commence. Maldrek went up to Milax as she sat in a booth within the Crimson Coin, time for Shan to complete his side of the bargain. We both agreed that I would be able to meet with a "conclave" of sorts consisting of the Knights Diabolists to advise me on the rights and rituals. In addition they would also assist me in the selection of my patron, when can said process begin?

Maldrek's eyes lit up as he saw the signs of diabolism, years of effort and research were finally starting to pay off... Let the damn priests call him a godless tiefling, he would be using them as pawns and slaves soon enough. Maldrek went down the alley after the contact he kept several feet away though, now is the not the time to get killed... Religion1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Profession libarian1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 question gm do you want me to make the entries for the various archdevils listed in the Lessons of Thrune book or do you want to make them. And yes Maldrek will be studying them excessivelly, as this is a once you made the choice no reversing it decision.

the thoughts of Maldrek: As Milax departed Maldrek began muttering in infernal as he considered which archdevil would be most suitable for a pact or should he examine the list of Infernal lords contained within the Lessons of Thrune? Hmm... difficult and once the deal was struck no going back.

Maldrek signed the document I believe that I can perform as a face, my ability to lie is sub par but like all who are allied with House Tevineg I carry a reputation and I know how to appeal to the avarice of others. However in truth my strength lies in the scholarly arts concerning the planes, arcana, religion and a few other things. |
