When do we get to rock the boat?


Backstory: Mak'e Ral is a kobold after his one true love... gold. He loves the way it shines, the way it feels, the way it even tastes when he is biting it to test if it's real or not, he has that itch and has to scratch it, preferably with gold backscratcher if he can get his hands on one. As such he had to leave his traditional tribe, since the gold always went to their dragon ruler, and well...kobolds that tried to take some of the precious for themselves tended to get eaten...or melted...or worse.

When not getting into scraps with people bigger then him just for some gold in a prize, Mak'e makes all sorts of fine crafts out of wood, from sturdy chairs to a peg leg or two. Because outside of having gold, earning his own gold is even better. Since he knows his way around a saw, he has taken on some side training as a ship's surgeon, hacking off limbs and making new wooden replacements that he'd brag were better then the fleshy one the poor fella had before.

Then one night he was tossing a gold coin in the air and catching it, when he heard a lady scream, seeing an opportunity to be a big hero, that'd get him attention...and more chances for gold he rushed around the corner into the alley and then...'thunk'

The bad stats are made up with awesome archetypes and racial traits.

Mak'e Ral sulks into the room once again getting low as he could, examining the floor and walls for anything that looked dangerous or could potentially be trapped. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Mak'e Ral follows Akina covering her with his bow drawn and at the ready.

Mak'e Ral gulps at the sight of the sight of the fading Osiriani man, and then shrugs. He walks in and looks at the two doors. "Well...go left...go right...flip coin and decide?" he offers as options to his friends.

Mak'e Ral finds his jaw open in shock expecting to see Anapa hit by the flail. When he hears and see the statue return to place he breathes out a loud sigh of relief. "To close."

Mak'e Ral looks to Darius as Akina and Anapa think over the puzzle. "Maybe we shouldn't say things like 'destroy' it might upset them...and I prefer...nice spirits...then angry ones."

Mak'e Ral will stare at the mirror, "Well there's a handsome kobold in here." he strikes a pose for effect and grins.

Mak'e Ral will draw his shortbow and follow behind Darius to give him cover from anything that might 'jump' out.

Mak'e Ral grins and winks. "That's why I'm here."

He then takes out his new set of tools and starts to try and disable the trap.

Mak'e Ral keeps his eyes on the tiles leaned over rubbing each tile once with his hand gaugeing the 'solidity' of it before stepping. Alert for anything amiss or traps

Mak'e Ral would trade Ryuu the rapier back for the stabby and tools. Then to appease Anapa and Akina he turns to the body. "Thank you for these things, and may Sobek safe guard the waters on your journey."

That is where I got the idea for the character's name Ryuu ^-^ It's just a sharp pronunciation of 'Mack' like the truck, 'ee', Ral.
Though I can use the thieve's tools and dagger more then the sword.

Mak'e Ral looks at the kit of tools. "I think I can make best use of those tools and the dagger...thin nimble fingers, see?" he wriggles his dexterous fingers at the monk.

Mak'e Ral backs up. "Just wanted to examine it, might be important. Sword and pack too. Maybe learn who this is...for last rites." he then shrugged, if he had his way he'd take everything of value he could carry but he also respected Anapa enough to leave the corpse well enough alone.

Mak'e Ral climbs down the rope carefully and then moves to Anapa's shoulders for a moment looking like a parody of a great parrot before going to the ground with his help. He gives a thumbs up gesture and nod of thanks to the paladin and moves over to the corpse naturally looking for anything interesting, and moves to grab the dagger.

Mak'e Ral looks to Akina. "You go, and I follow after, sound good?" he spoke as if wanting to watch their backs, but also because he really wasn't liking the prospect of going through a bug swarm, even if it was imaginary.

Mak'e Ral is just about to go for the rope to try and help Darius pull up and out of the pit when Akina mentions her plan. He keeps a hand on the hilt of his kukri still watching the swarm around Darius

Mak'e Ral stares down into the hole. "What goes on down there?" he calls out, when he sees the bugs the kobold tenses up.

Mak'e Ral moves in, and carefully under and between the legs of his allies to look down the hole as well. "Well that's a big hole."

Mak'e Ral picks up the crowbar and wipes the dust off of it. "Whoever here last, I guess won't miss this. We can turn the wheel with this or pole or a big stick.

The kobold also thinks to himself. 'and hopefully the previous owner of the crowbar triggered all the traps and/or killed the tomb's guardians.'

Mak'e Ral whistles softly impressed at the sights of the hieroglyphs, then sets to moving slowly, almost crawling on all fours as he examines the floor and wheel for any traps or interesting things.

Not like there isn't Dervish Dance and the Aldori Sword verison that do the same in regards to the Dex to damage, and being able to do piercing is just a bit of gravy.

Mak'e Ral spits on his claws and grabs the corner of the door and starts tugging with the rest of his friends.

Mak'e Ral runs his fingers along the seams and design where he can reach, being very slow in his movements in hopes to find a way in safely.

Mak'e Ral lets out a whooping call of triumph and 'carefully' sheers a piece of the stinger off to keep as a souvenir. Putting it into a pocket for safe keeping. "Hooray for good crunching food, yes?" he remarks to Darius, while he puts his dagger put into place in the sheath.

Mak'e Ral pops his dagger out from his spring loaded wrist sheath and whirls around the legs of his friends and over the dead scorpion to strike the remaining one's menacing stinger and attempt to bite the tail itself.

(Move to AI14 on top of the dead one to strike the one still alive)

Dagger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Dragonmaw Bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
acid damage if bite hits: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Mak'e Ral begins searching around the doors considering himself too small to make a major dent in the digging efforts he instead is constantly looking for anything suspicious that might indicate a trap or easier way in.

Weighing his options and being cautious in nature Mak'e Ral looks to his companions. "I think we, take the northern route, it's longer walk, but...we have time." He offered.

Mak'e Ral nods as the lady lists off the rules, as he stood near Anapa's leg, "Looks like forward and to the left is only safe way." he comments as he looks at the scribbled map. He tests the hilts of his kukri and dagger, making sure both won't snag when he pulls them, and then thumbs the string of his bow, making sure it was strung well, and follows his compatriots to the entrance.

Mak'e Ral keeps his hands to himself around the peddlers, or more importantly keeps his hands to his coin pouch, even as he browses the wares...the kobold meticulously noting things he'd buy once he recovered the riches of the tombs.

Mak'e Ral darted back and forth from under one table, or cart when he could. Staying always close to his taller friends. Despite his nervous nature, he was in high spirits this day. The kobold had put a shine to his scales this morning and had checked and rechecked that all his tools and weapons were in good order. At Akina's words he smiled, showing rows of thin but needle sharp teeth. ″Yes yes, excited that I am. And who better then us to make these discoveries, an who better to claim the wonders and great shinies then us?″ As he spoke he twirled around and then stopped with a low bowing pose with his arms outstretched.


Sorry I hadn't posted in awhile, yesterday the internet dropped out (satellite stinks), and today my friends sort of...grabbed me away from the computer, to hang out, and test thier new hookah. :)


Hmmm I could see that, Mak'e Ral adopting an Osirian god to 'fit' in. And Sobek certainly fits. As far as how he came to meet the group, maybe something like was planning to 'browse' a temple for it's wealth and foiled a thief who was making off with a statue of Anubis, and met Anapa. And decided to 'stick close' for the protection of the big guy, and roll with his perceived heroics.


Well at least the second one works. Thoughts?

Fixed, but still good all things considered.


I have a +12 in stealth but that's fine, you be loud, a be sneaky. Plus at a tavern or something being loud and boisterous is part of the fun.

Partly, my build uses them but it's not a hinged on them. If you see any teamwork feats you like I'll take them, cause that's what being a team player is all about. :P And some of the feats like Escape Route I don't need my ally to use the feat, though they get some neat benefits if they do. I plan on multiclassing into rogue. (probably knife master) and with S.Fighter's level 9 ability things should be really fun.
