Honestly, if this berating is the way the game is going to continue, then I would prefer you let my character die. The character did the best he could with the knowledge given, and I did the best I could with the knowledge I had. You're bringing in Christian stuff which is dangerous already in a game where people believe different things, but even worse when you make gods act like that true God would never act. So, now you've made the only thing that Mahonrai could really trust in *also* berate him, and I have no idea what you are looking for. Do you want the character to grovel and tell you how right you are? I have no clue where to go from here, and don't see a way forward in playing the character. Maybe I suck at role-playing and I should have min-maxed or come up with some brilliant strategy. Who knows. I was just trying to play the story. I can't do any better than that... so just take me out of the game.
I can only act according to my conscience and my knowledge. If you would have acted differently it is because you have more knowledge that I do, and more wisdom. It doesn't mean that I could have done better based only on what I know. I was doing the best that I could, and it seems not only unfair but unkind to stand here and talk of the evil in the town and my own failings rather than seeing the good in all of us. That isn't the way of the good that I know, and by my personal knowledge that town was not steeped in evil, so any knowledge you have otherwise that perhaps all of the residents are secretly cannibals or demon-worshippers is not something that I can use to make my own decisions. If I could save any of them, I still would.
Disrespect or not, that is how I see it, and showing me how powerful you are and throwing riddles at me that you expect me to figure out based on *your* knowledge won't change that. So, save me or destroy me, as you clearly have the power to do either, but I didn't ask you for a favor, and if I am saved, I thank you for your intervention, but I will still make decisions according to my conscience, not your commands or your riddles. I respect my god because he speaks plainly to me and I don't have to wonder what he wants, and I am not made to feel inadequate in fulfilling my tasks. If I am making poor decisions and am not who you want in this situation, then please, handle things yourself with your awesome power, and allow me to return to my master. I can do no better.
If you are talking about the judgement of Falcon's Hollow, I think your determination that there are less than 10 good people there is wildly in error. My friend Joanne is still there, as are healers that I met, some good people that need healing, and several children... and those are only the people that I observed in one afternoon in the town. To me, you appear to be the foolish one. Goodness and kindness is almost never foolish, but destruction frequently is.
I have no questions of you or your lords. If you and they presume to judge me foolish over an afternoon spent on Earth in the service of others, I am sure that my desires are irrelevant to you. Tell me what YOU wish me to know or release me to return to Sinashakti. I care not which. I am a young angel, and I am sure that I have much to learn, but I will not be your pawn.
Mahonrai shoots at one of the hags that Anatoli pointed out. He doesn't have anything against witches in general, but since these ones have hostages, they must be rescued.
So, the mention of the Wisdom Check DC 11... was that the DC to pass the previous check, or is this a new one if we saw or heard something in the fog? Also, are we in battle now against the coven? Do we all see something to fight, or just what you told us in individual spoilers?
If you are trying to get us to go a certain way or get to a certain point, would you prefer to just skip to that? I don't mind walking through these opening scenes with no real choices if you are trying to get us to a certain point, but I would also be happy to hand-wave it, since we can't really *do* anything or make actual choices.
Mahonrai follows Zegenva's instructions, but realizes he is too tall to stand in front of anyone, so tries to stay to the side while still protecting. He also keeps his bow ready.
Mahonrai's inner glow is more clear in the darkness as he pushes forward, still with his bow ready, keeping watch for danger, especially in the strange quiet that has descended.
Perception:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Unfortunately, he doesn't discern anything unusual.
Ah, great. Thanks for looking it up. :) Our characters would remember these things if we were really there, but it's much harder in PbP when there are days between hearing it and needing it.
I know the way back to a cutyard I have visited... will that do? I apologize. I thought you were looking for the main camp.
If that is where everyone wants to go, he leads the way back to where he arrived in town... where Jarlben probably still is, although I am not sure about Joanne.
Mahonrai sees that everyone is in, and then follows Anatoli out the door.
I don't think that Mahonrai actually knows his name, but I am guessing there are enough context clues for him to know that he is the one leading the group to where they are going?
Mahonrai looks around at the group to see if anyone has any objections, and then nods. He is willing to fight any evil, and though this may delay the cure in the short term, more allies will ensure their success in the long term.
Greetings, Ashlyn, my name is Mahonrai. It seems that you are bound to investigate something evil, and we are also trying to stop another kind of evil. Perhaps we could join forces, and do both?
Mahonrai greets Adroushan with a wave, so as to not interrupt the conversation. He sees Ashlyn stepping away from him, so he tries to be as unobtrusive as a seven and a half foot tall glowing angel can be.
Good to meet you, Brunhild. I thought you were worried about current measures being inadequate, but if you have confidence in the sheriff handling the source of the disease, I will trust your judgment. And this Zegenva sounds like a good choice.
Mahonrai hands Adroushan his Journal and an ink pen, so that he can take the notes about the ingredients that he wanted to take.
I think you are probably right that we need more help. Do you have any suggestions... um, sorry, I don't believe that I know your name.
To Adroushan:
I think that we also need to make sure that the well is blocked off and that the village has an alternative source of water, or the problem will only grow. Any thoughts? Do you know where the well is?
As Mahonrai waits for an answer from Laurel, he smiles, glad that Adroushan is willing to undertake such a task as well.
He sees the ... apprentice? ... looking at him, and wonders if he could ask her to come along as well. Surely she would know the plants if they came across them. They would need her knowledge, if Laurel could spare her for a while.
Is there a way to cleanse the well so that no more people get sick in the first place? I would like to stop the cause first, because the people will need water. After that, perhaps we could help you by going to find the rare ingredients?
The well? Is that where this disease is coming from?
... I apologize for being abrupt. My name is Mahonrai. I am just trying to figure out what is going on. I am sensing some... unusual things in this area.
