Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Hey guys -- I fear I have to withdraw from this campaign. I'm finding with my new job (about 2 months in now) that I just don't have the spare time and mental energy to keep up with all the games I'm in. More than once I've gone far too long (like right now) without posting, and I fear this will just continue.

I'm sorry to drop out, although I think this party in particular has a lot of the roles covered and will be fine without Lucan.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

A small rabbit with the upper torso and head of a girl, but then with rabbit ears off of the top of hear head, appears next to Lucan.

"Why be seen at all?" she asks.

Lucan says, "My familiar Lily has a point," Lucan says. "Do we have enough magic that we could pass by invisible? It will depend on how wide of a view the fort has. If it's the whole approach, we're in trouble. If it's a relative small choke point, then it's possible we could sneak past invisible. I can cast a spell to make myself invisible, and can cast it up to four times a day. Lord Zohan, are you familiar with this spell, or do you have anything more powerful? The invisibility will only last seven minutes, however, or until you attack something. So, that won't let us go very far invisible."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan says, "I believe we are the help from Magnimar.... Tomorrow morning, first thing, we plan to scout the place, and see if we can deal with whatever the ogres, and whoever is behind them, have planned there."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan says, "I agree that it appears that something is behind these ogres. But we have to deal with the threat that we have before us. There are ogres at the dam. Hopefully, they won't break it tonight; if so, then we're too late, and we will die with the rest of the town. But if it really has stood that long, then it should be quite an undertaking for them to take it down. At first light tomorrow, when we're rested and restored, we will make our way to the dam to scout the situation. Hopefully there, also, we will be able to figure out who, other than that horrendous 'mother' beast, is behind these ogres. We should try to keep at least one alive to see if we can get it to spill any information."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan nods. "We should burn the scroll. I could use the wand, but given that I tend to get up and in the thick of things, Lord Zohan, you might be a better one to take the wand."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan delivers a full attack against the fleshy monstronsity. Combining (wand-weilder) Spell Combat and Spellstrike, he first activates his wand of Shocking Grasp to charge up his longsword. He then attacks twice-- once as the attack that goes with Spellstrike, once as his normal attack.

Spellstrike Attack, including -2 for Spell Combat and +1 for use of Arcane Pool: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 141d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Other attack, including -2 for Spell Combat and +1 for use of Arcane Pool: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
If either of the above attacks hit, it will discharge the CL2 Shocking Grasp for an additional amount of electricity damage:
Electricity Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan tries to resist the negative energy coursing through his body...

Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

I'm realizing I goofed a little bit when outfitting Lucan. I gave him a Wand of Shocking Grasp thinking he could use it with Spellstrike, and then also took the Wand Wielder arcana so that he could use the wand as part of Spell Combat and Spellstrike. However, looking back at Ultimate Magic again, it only mentions Spell Combat under Wand Wielder, and as such I don't think you can use it with Spellstrike; as such, all of this has become much less useful.... GM, will you allow the Wand Wielder magus arcana to allow wands to work with Spellstrike as well? If not, I may want to ask to be allowed to rebuild Lucan a bit, as it would make Wand Wielder not terribly useful to a Magus. For this post, I'm going to assume that Wand Wielder allows the use of Spellstrike with a wand. If that doesn't work, I will redo the post.

Lucan first suffuses some of his arcane power into his sword. (Spending a point from his Arcane Pool to give his sword another +2 enhancement bonus for the next minute.)

Lucan activates his Wand of Shocking Grasp to charge a shocking grasp. He'll then move forward and attack the monstrosity with his sword, as the free weapon attack that comes in place of the touch attack that goes with his Spellstrike magus ability.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Weapon damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Shocking Grasp (CL2) damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan shrugs, nods at Lord Zohan, and then yells out in the direction of the screeching female voice, "Coming, mum!"

Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Holding his sword in one hand and his Wand of Shocking Grasp in the other, he looks at Andras and jerks his head in the direction of the hallway, indicating that they should get a move on. Wasting no time, he heads down the hallway towards the voice.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Congrats.

I'm moved (I posted a while back saying I was moving), and finally getting my head above water. I've been posting in some games, catching up with them slowly, and am now catching up with this game. I don't anticipate any long delays again in the forseeable future.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Hefting his sword, Lucan nods. "Let's move on. My ability to fly may not help us in what's coming up, but it will last for a few more minutes."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Trusting that the spiders will not come back -- but knowing that he can still fly for several more minutes if they do -- Lucan flies over and sets down next to Karla. He looks at her. "She doesn't look good!" he says to the others. "Does anybody have anything they can do for her? I fear healing magic isn't my strength!"

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan will fly in a slow circle in the air over the spiders, ready to attack them if they return. He won't attack them if it really looks like they're retreating and will stay away, but he's going to remain on guard for the moment.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

I'm going to be moving next Monday, so my Internet access will become extremely spotty for at least a week. I'll try to keep up, but it's possible I won't be able to.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan is grateful that his armor has protected him from the attack. He concentrates briefly, imfusing his sword with some of his arcane energy. He attempts to cast a spell defensively, charging up his sword with electrical energy. He then swings his sword at the huge spider...

Swift action: spend a point from his arcane pool to give his longsword an additional +2 enhancement bonus, making it a +4 longsword for the next minute. Full attack: spell combat. Try to cast Shocking Grasp defensively, then swing the sword.

Concentration Check DC 17: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Longsword attack including -2 for Spell Combat and +2 from arcane pool: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Weapon damage if hits: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Shocking grasp damage if hits: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3, 4) = 17
Fly check to hover in place, DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Which of us still have Haste active?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

"I have to be able to get into melee with them!" Lucan says. He starts casting a spell defensively. He manages to get the spell off while not opening himself up to an attack from the huge spider in front of him. That done, he flies into the air, and moves in closer to melee range with the spider.

(Lucan takes a five-foot "step" -- more of a five-foot flutter -- one square forward, brandishing his sword. He will be able to fly for the next 7 minutes.)

Question for GM: from the previous combat, Lucan would still have 4 charges of Chill Touch left on his sword. Are they still there, or would the spell have dissipated in the intervening time?

Rolls:

Casting a third-level spell (Fly) Defensively, on the assumption that he's in range of the huge spider. DC is 21: Concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
OK, I'm grateful that I spent those feats on improved concentration!

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

In the room with the taxidermy equipment and the flayed skin, Lucan grimaces. "Ogrekin are beasts, but this... this is worse and more brutal than what you usually expect of a hulking beast of the wilds. This is bad."

Downstairs, Lucan will walk over and inspect the three men in the cage. Are any of them awake? If so, he will ask, "Hello, my name is Lucan Arcaranarian. Are you of the Black Arrows? How long have you been down here? Do you know where there is a key to open the cage?"

He'll turn to his left, then to his right; failing to locate his invisible familiar, he says, generally, "Lily, can you look around and see if you can find a key?"

A small voice next to him says, "Sure! A key, to open many things..."

Lily's Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan nods, still holding his sword. "Yes, let's press on. The building is assuredly alerted. If there are any Black Arrows being held here, we might have to move fast to recover them alive."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Hey, sorry everybody. I've fallen a few days behind. I'm not going to be able to catch up right now, but I will catch up tonight.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

The weapon holds the charge like a normal touch spell. "Chill Touch" is interesting because it only delivers 1d6 per touch (rather than going up with caster level like most spells), but lets you deliver one touch per level. I've still got 5 touches left on the Chill Touch I cast. Nominally, a successful attack (regular attack, not just touch attack, so there is a bit of a drawback doing it the Magus way) discharges one touch worth, but were I GM I would also rule that if you touch Lucan's sword it would discharge the spell into you.... You can touch him, though. If you're thinking healing, he'd like that a lot! The crit from the Ogrekin was pretty nasty.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan steps back up on to the stairs. "Drop back and draw them after you! We can combine attacks on them!"

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

OK, so Ogrekin 3 is a real threat, and not one of the youngers? (Just wanted to make sure about that, as that's the one I posted Lucan as attacking... even though he missed horribly.)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Yoiks!

Can you give us a summary of what is what on the map now?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

With the Ogrekin he and Karla were fighting dispatched, Lucan steps down the stairs and turns to his left to attack the one further down the hall. He swings his still-cold-enhanced sword at it, but is disoriented from coming down the stairs and turning the corner, and misses badly.

The sword still has an additional +2 from the Arcane Pool active, and before this round there are 5 touches of Chill Touch left. He's attacking #3 in square E5.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Cold damage if hits: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Nat 1... that won't hit. The good news is that the spell isn't discharged, so he still has five rounds left on it. But... no damage.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

GM: I see that the Ogre landed a crit threat on Lucan with its first attack. (It's second attack didn't hit.) Did you roll to confirm? If so, I didn't see where.

Fixed that for you :)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Hey all, I'm back from PaizoCon. It was very jolly.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Round 1

Lucan briefly concentrates, infusing some of his arcane power into his sword. He then whirls and swings his magically enhanced longsword at the ogrekin that attacked him. That done, he takes a step aside on to the stairs to allow Karla to move in.

Swift Action: Spent an Arcane Pool point to add an additional +2 enhancement bonus to his sword for the next minute.

Standard Action: Melee attack with the +2 (temporarily +4) longsword. If the attack hits, it will discharge one touch worth of Chill Touch, leaving 6 remaining.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Sword damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Cold Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
If the attack hits, it also may do 1 point of Strength damage; the ogrekin gets a DC14 Fortitude save to avoid this.

Five-Foot Step: to the left, on to the stairs. Note that if he has to stay here, and the ogrekin stays where it is, he'll be attacking around the corner giving the ogrekin cover.... If Karla can draw it back, then both of them will get straight attacks.

Round 2:

I want to see what Karla does, and that will affect what Karla does. If Karla tries to draw the Ogrekin back, he'll ready an action to attack again with the longsword when it steps in front of him, allowing him to attack without cover. If that happens, here are rolls:
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Sword damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Cold Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
If the attack hits, it also may do 1 point of Strength damage; the ogrekin gets a DC14 Fortitude save to avoid this.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

I'm going to be offline from Thurday to Sunday (off to PaizoCon).

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan looks up the stairs he's next to and listens to see if he can hear anything.

After that, he moves up behind Serra, still gripping his longsword that he's charged with a chill spell.

Actions:

First move action: Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18 (not Lucan's forte)

Second move action degraded from standard: Move to B8

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Crap, sorry. I had two threads open, and posted into the wrong one.

I just cut-n-paste the post to the game thread. I cut-n-paste the die result as well; if you want me to reroll over there, let me know and I'll edit the post.

Yes, I agree the GM should roll init for all of us to move things along.

I'm still confused about the map: where did we come in? When you say "in front of Serra", which way is that? (There's no facing indicator, so I'm not sure which is is in front; up on the map? Right on the map?)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

GM: I'm trying to figure out the map. Is the blue S sera? Are the three red dots the baby ogrekin? Did we come in through the top of the map and pass the baby ogrekin room? Where are the zombines?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Excellent.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan grimaces. "This is... terrible," he mutters, looking at the gruesome display. When the bodies animate, he casts a spell, charging up his sword with a freezing chill that will enhance the damage he does with his attacks. He steps forward to engage the zombies, or whatever it is that is animating the gruesome dead bodies.

Casting Chill Touch for use with Spellstrike. This will be good for seven attacks. It will add 1d6 of cold damage; in addition, creatures hit will take 1 point of STR damage unless they make a DC14 Fort save.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Excellent... can we get a link to the Greedy Bag's profile page in Campaign information? (PbP you know... two weeks from now I'll have forgotten the exact alias name.)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Is anybody keeping track of loot? The stuff we found on the ogrekin near the bear -- although IC I said we should bring it back to the Black Arrows, OOC I predict that we're gonna end up keeping it :)

Is anybody keeping track? Has any of it been divided yet? Lucan can use the Belt of Giant Strength, but of course there are some others who can as well.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Outside, Lucan says, "Can I take a look at the amulet?"

Lucan will cast Detect Magic and take 10 on Spellcraft for a result of 23 in an attempt to identify the amulet.

He keeps his sword drawn as others scout the interior of the house, ready to quickly react.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Lucan will wait to see if somebody more stealthy wants to try to get a first shot. Once the ogrekin has recognized our presence, he will run up to the beast. If he can get to it in a single move, he will run to it and attack. If he can't he will do a full move, stopping five feet distant from the ogrekin (intending to do a step and Spell Combat full attack next round).

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan whispers to the other, "For high damage, I do much better up close and personal."

How far away is the ogre? If close enough, right after Serra draws the arrow, he will charge, drawing his sword, and attack. Longsword Attack with Charge: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9.

If, on the other hand, the ogre is too far away to reach in a charge, instead he will fire his longbow. Longbow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 Longbow damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan regards the carvings. "Charming," he muses, quietly.

A small voice to his left says, "Charms for Manitocres!"

"Shhh," Lucan quietly admonishes his invisible familiar.

He says quietly, "Let's follow Zadderk's plan and circle around to the farmhouse first, but let's also set up Lord Zohan's trap. I can help you with that, if you need, but I have no particular skill with traps myself."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan says, "We should bring this gear with us. It looks like it might have belonged to one of the Black Arrows, and they might want it back."

However, he can't help but eye the Belt of Giant Strength greedily....

He sheathes his sword. "Come," he says to anybody still hesitating, and follows the bear.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

For android, I recommend the "TouchPal" keyboard. It's a sliding keyboard which makes typing quite a bit faster and easier, although you still live in autocorrect hell.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan turns to the dog that just attempted to bite him, and brings his sword down towards it with a flourish, cutting into the beast.

Actions:

Charge finished, AC is back to 20.
Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Re: Inspire Courage, oops! Sorry about that. In another campaign, I play a bard, and it's always sad to see people leaving off these bonuses I'm giving them.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Lucan draws his sword as he runs forward to attack one of the dogs.

Actions:

Can he get there in a charge? If so, he'll do that; -2 to AC (down to 18), +2 to attack roll.

+2 Longsword Attack on Charge: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Damage if hits: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

You don't need to be online all at once on roll20. I've been in other PBEMs that use it. You can have the table there, and people can log in as they're able and move things around. You just use it as a map/visual aid to go along with the regular posting in the forum.

Shall we assume that we've all spent 250gp to get two Wands of Cure Light Wounds? Who is carrying them? (Ideally, it should be somebody who can use them. Lucan can't; he hasn't trained UMD.)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Magus/7 (Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 ; Init +1 ; Perception +0)

Not a bad idea. Let's all pitch in. 750gp / 6 people is 125gp each.
