Just for clarity: Kernal was 10' from the standing demon so he doesn't threaten him. Lunge is an attack action and only gives you reach for the one attack, not the whole round, at least that's how I understand it to read. Lunge: Lunge: ◆; Requirements You are wielding a melee weapon.
