Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Still here will post latet. Will be a repeat of last round id you want to move on.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I hope so, Im enjoying these characters.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Gotta love Queen.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Yay hawk! Boo me...

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

As the larger originals slink off out of sight, Kelvanthus turns his attention to the swarm threatening his comrades. He nocks two arrows and lets fly, before shouting out"Velana, attack!", pointing with his free hand towards the swarm.

Rapid Shot+Bless+Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
1st Shot Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
2nd Rapid Shot+Bless+Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
2nd Shot Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Status:

HP=15
Non Lethal=2
Bless

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus steps back, looking for a clear shot before again unleashing a quick flurry of arrows.

Rapid Shot+Bless: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Rapid Shot+Bless: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

1st Shot Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
If 1st shot crits: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6) + 6 = 21
2nd Shot Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Will 5ft step to V19, firing at the big rat I attacked last time. If it dies before I go, or if my first attack slays it, I will aim my second attack at another one of the Originals, hopefully an injured one. How high is the ceiling here? Does Velana have enough room to fly forward without provoking?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Hold your ground and weaken them from afar! If anyone has oil or alchemist fire, burn them!

Kelvanthus's hands are a blur of motion as he swiftly lets fly two more arrows, each aimed at the rat he wounded, or if it falls at another weakened one.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
first attack damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
second attack damage1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Velana will stay where she is, on my shoulder, for now. Or next to me, if she is considered sharing my square.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Of course. I didnt think to ask till now. Ill have her go on my initiative, but wait till after the combat to pick a new feat.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

How are you going to.handle initiative for my animal companion? Will she just go on my turn? And if so can I repick her Improves Initiative feat?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Everyone ready? I'll take the big one first.

Kelvanthus whispers quietly to the group as he draws back an arrow. As soon as the word is given, he lets fly for the large rat and prepares to give Velana the command to attack.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 to hit
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 piercing damage

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Are the rats aberrations? Just need to know whether to add my fav enemy bonus or not. I will be attacking and making knowledge nature and dungeoneering rolls later today.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I believe im confused. I assumed the noble lived here, and that it was lit. In that case if no one else provides light I will light a torch, holding my bow in one hand.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 Stealth

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Let us proceed, with stealth if possible. Hadrian, do you mind leading? I I will cover you with my bow and Velana.

Kelvanthus moves into the manor, waiting for the others. His eyes are constantly searching, and he moves as quietly as possible.

Should I roll my stealth? I am actively percieving, as is Velana.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus approaches the others warily, his keen gaze upon the newcome and the gore. His buckler and bow are at the ready, an arrow nocked. Upon his shoulder Velana stirs, perking up at the scent.of blood and ready to hunt.

Well met again everyone, and to you serrah. It would seem the manor is not safe anymore. What happened here? Is everyone ok, and are there others still inside?

Kelvanthus looks everyone over, especially the woman, and turns his haze to the manor, looking for any new threats.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Khita, my bad. I thought earlier in the thread the idea was to meet around midday for lunch with the group.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I believe the plan at the moment.is to meet the others to share info. May help to know more about the enemy before we go to the druids.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Well gentleman, it has been interesting, and I have learned a good deal of both of you. If my compatriots have no more questions, I believe we should meet with the others to discuss our options. O'mighty, Dareroth, we will contact you within a day regarding a test. Have a few drinks on me, and get to know each other. We may have need for you both.

With that Kelvanthus will stand, place a gold on the table, and assuming the others follow move to leave.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I believe we are pretty much done with them for now. Time to meet up with everyone else and sharr knowledge.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus comes to his feet in one swift motion, his hand on his blade. He strides between the two, a fiery cast to his eyes and a scowl on his lips. He glares at both the man and dwarf, making sure he has their full attention.

Enough!!! Both of you, stand down!

He looks over at Dareroth, silently daring him to make a move. "I suggest you keep your tricks to yourself for now Dareroth. I came here looking for a champion, not to start a fight to prove you have some talent!

And you, O'Mighty! Control your temper! This is no place for a fight over injured pride, rightly though your anger may be. Both of you should be ashamed! This city is beset by evil, abominations seek to destroy us all, the Shadow Roads are closed, and who knows what else is coming againt us!!! Here we are, attempting to form a unified force to protect this city, to find a champion willing to help potentially save the lives of thousands, and what do we find?! Trickery and anger, and naked greed. We are better than this gentleman, especially with all the danger that is already at our door. Your fight is not with each other, so again I say, STAND DOWN!

We can arrange for a test of skill to decide the champion if need be, but not here, and not now.

Kelvanthus will stand, looking to see how his companions, as well as the human and dwarf, react. His hand stays on his sword, and his stance is ready to draw down if need be.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus watches Dareron and O'mighty, listening as Tessara speaks.

Indeed Dareron, tell us more about your prowess and what info you may have. O'mighty, I would hear more about your skills in battle as well, so that we may better decide. I would advise you both, be honest and open. Skill at arms or arcane power are not all that is being judged here.
And do not mistake strength of arms for lack of cunning, Tessara. A wise warrior knows when and where to strike. And you, Dareron, while I have little love for the arcane, I respect its power and those who wield it. Such abilities do not come easy.

So again, to both you. Convince us why you should be our champion. Make me want to put my trust in you.

As Kelvanthus speaks of magic, he runs his hand along the scars on his face and neck, seemingly without realizing it, a small frown on his lips.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus shifts in his seat, turning slightly to face both the swordsman and dwarf, his eyes locking with the newcomer's. He lays his left hand calmly across the haft of his bow, his right he beckoning the swordsman closer.

]Please join us, as you seem interested in this matter. There is no need for tension between all of us. You most likely know why I am here and what im doing, so let us discuss. I am Kelvanthus Darshantion. Join us, please, sirrah...?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Master dwarf, know that you are not the only candidate, but a strong one nonetheless. I would have to speak with my companions, and I doubt the decision will be made until the morrow, but if we did choose you, I can offer you 1000 gold, and the possibility of more work in the future. After all, all of this will not end with a Mustering, and the abominations will not simply go away because we have formed an army. Would those terms be acceptable to you?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

For now, let us not worry if this is all of my group or noy. Let us focus on The Mustering. You appear to be quite a mighty warrior, master dwarf, but let me ask you. Why do you fight? Honour? Gold? Simply for the thrill of battle? As for what im doing, I seek a champion to stand for these refugees, to fight in their name against the Red Tower in this mustering. What do you say to that?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Barkeep, a drink for our new friend please

With that said, Kelvanthus walks up to the dwarf, throwing back his hood as he goes. He gives a marshal salute, then extends his hand for a hearty handshake.

Kelvanthus Darshantion, a pleasure to meet you sirrah...? Indeed, I am in need of a strong arm, as well as a strong heart. Tell me sirrah, what brings you here? And why would you be willing to take up the fight against the abominations besieging this fair city?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus spends the day quietly sizing up those they encounter, judging them more by their demeanor and motivation than simply strength of arms or what they carry. He presents himself as a fellow outsider, and speaks openly and honestly about the perils he has seen and how in this darkest hour they must all stand together. He asks more for courage and strength of heart, and its obvious from his words and demeanor he is looking for a idealist, not simply a mercanary. His thick accent and scarred appearance may be a deterrent to some, but he speaks with conviction and passion about the defense of this city and the need for a champion and supplies.

He warms quickly to Khita, both as a fellow outsider and warrior. He is friendly to both her and Tessara, and over the course of the day opens up some, and even tells a few stories about things he has seen and done. He doesn't reveal all, but it is obvious from his words that he is not from here, and the places he talks about are completely new to both of you. He tries to keep away from discussion of religion, but will name his Goddess and Eloria the Sky Warden if it comes up. He would also introduce you to his hawk, Elana.

He frowns on the tension between Khita and Tessara, but will not say anything about it. He seems slightly uncomfortable to the attention Tessara shows him, as if that is new to him, but he does welcome the friendship from both of you. To Khita it would appear obvious that he is perhaps unaware of the bond between them, or doesn't recognize it. He would also seem bemused at the reverence towards Tessara that many people would show her, as if he isn't used to Elvenkind being treated in such a way.

All in all, he welcomes the attention from Tessara and Khita, and quickly bonds with them. He enjoys the bond with Tessara, though he is awkward and not sure what to do with it, or even truly what it is. From his words and demeanor it is obvious there is much going on in his mind regarding it all.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Well right now is morning for me, so im game! Was starting to worry everyone quit.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Fair enough

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I am correct in asking in game for an introduction, right? Ot do wr all know each other and im just not realizing it?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Excuse me, I should have been clear. I will visit the druids tomorrow, as we share a bond with nature. Though I would appreciate any company as well. I was focusing on those two groups due to the druids apathy towards the city, but their hatred of the abominations may give me leverage. Someone more skilled with words than myself would be helpful.

Kelvanthus runs a hand along the scars on his face.

I find im not as graceful and diplomatic as I once was.[

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Sorry if my last post was kind of rambly. I was half way through it when I realized he said it was so late heh.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

It is getting late, so perhaps we should rest first before questioning our would be champions in the middle of the night? I could meet Khita at the temple in the morning to investigate the refugees, Sirrah Knight and Ariso the estate and to gather information. Perhaps Tessara and yourself,"looking at Elismus," could join whichever group you prefer, or even inquire about the League so we have most of our options? We could meet back here around midday to discuss our findings?

Kelvanthus looks around at everyone before continuing, meeting everyones eyes with an intense stare.

Some of us have not been formally introduced, so let me begin. My name is Kelvanthus Darshantion. I am a tracker and scout, a ranger of the wilds. What of yourselves? If we shall be working together we should know one another.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Khita, if you do not mind I will accompany you. I too am eager to see whag the refugees are able to field. Give me a moment to gather my things upstairs.

Kelvanthus stands, nodding to each of you in turn, before moving to leave. He bows his head for a moment and utters a silent prayer while grasping his strange amulet.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Thats cause Ariso is his own level :)

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Or bring you up to our level ;)

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

If there was none other more suited, I would be willing to take the burden of champion, though I do not know if it is my place. Nonetheless, we do for now have other avenues to explore. What say the rest of you?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Ohhh sneaky haha

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

And I may post slowly at times because I dont want to steal the spotlight and make sure everyone has a chance to do something. This is my first pbp so I dont wanna overdo it.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

But grumbling about it is the best part! I vote pie eating ooze chugging contests to the death for leadership!

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Of course with that being said, if we do pick a leader they need to be open to everyones ideas. No fun having someone tell you what to do if its against your character.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I agree with Ariso, until wr get to know each other more its hard to pick a leader. I also like the druid or refugee option...of course I didnt plan on being this idealistic until I typed it heh.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus seems surprised at Tessara's touch, and glances briefly at her as she steps behind him, an curious expression on his face. He composes himself after a drink, and turns back to the group.

My issue with the league is motivation. If coin is all that they care for, how can we ensure they continue to aid us? Aftet all, this will not end with the mustering I am sure.
And unless im mistaken, none of us are drowning in gold. Where will the gold to hire them come from? And how do we stop the Loremistress from simply paying them more not to aid us?
We need someone who will fight for this city, not becausr they need to or are being paid to...no we need someone who wants to and is willing to put their life on the line. We need a hero, not a paid mercenary.

Realizing he is half standing with fervour, Kelvanthus quickly settlrs down, but remains leaning forward out of the shadows.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus sits quietly in the shadows, gazing intently at each of you in turn as Khita speaks. He toys with a silver amulet around his neck, obviously deep in thought. Taking a deep drink from a mug of strong dwarven ale, he looks over at the Priestess, interested in what she may have to say.

If I may, as well...are the druids involved or associated with any of the would be powers in this city, or do they keep to themselves? And of their leader, what manner of person may we find ourselves dealing with? I would hear more of our potential allies, if it is not too much trouble.

Eloria guide me, but I never thought I would be interacting with Druids again...Velana...how I wish you could be here.

After speaking, Kelvanthus leans further back in the shadows, attempting to hide his grief stricken expression as the talk of druids reminds him of his past. He tooks another long drink and listens.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Not to worry, my own schedule can be erratic as well. Thankfully my phone always me to post during the days I work so I should be able to post daily, normally more than once a day. By the way, love the opening and am looking forward to seeing where this is going.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19=PERCEPTION

As they turn to leave, Kelvanthus notices the key falling to the ground and swiftly pockets it before they turn back. He turns, facing the rest of the group and the priestess.

"Perhaps we should take our leave as well, and go somewhere a little more private to discuss matters, and get to know each other as well seeing as how we will be working together. I have a room at the Stoney Ale and no fear of anyone listening in, or can on of you provide a safer locale?

His normal expression of longing and melancholy replaced by an eager visage and a determined gaze, Kelvanthus stands at the ready to begin.

Eloria, Sky Warden, Creator and Mother of All, guide me onwards, place the sky ever at my horizon, and embrace me at journeys end. Even though you cannot hear me, and I know not of your fate, as always I place my soul in your hands. May we meet again at journeys end.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Again Kelvanthus.considers those around him, pausing for a moment upon Tessara.
She looks so familiar...and this champion. To whom must this burden fall?

]Then we must move quickly, and meet with Ariso's brother to decide who best shall become his champion. He may already have someone in mind, or perhaps one of you has someone in mind?

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Kelvanthus steps forward, his steel grey eyes meeting the gaze each of each of you, studying you intently, before focusing on Rayler. His eyes have a passion, a fire in them that those of you who know him have not seen since you met. His voice is melodic, like wind over the plains, yet harsh at the same time, tinged with an accent none of you recognize.

"Sirrah Rayler, I stand at the ready to do what I can for this city. My name is Kelvanthus Darshantion, as some of you may already know. You have my blade for as long as this city needs it. I do have some questions, though. This champion...must he or she be of noble blood?"

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

I believe between arriso, Hadrian, and tessara we have the socials covered, ive got stealth, nature, and traps. Not sure about the other major skills though.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Sounds good to me.

Male Half-Elven Ranger-Falconer/Trapper 2

Ariso:

Interesting, Kelvanthus will be keeping an eye on you, as much for your protection as his curiosity. He is subtle about it, but with a good perception-or an off day for my stealth-you could notice it. He would ask about Loki, stating "That name is not unkwnown where I come from."

As for the symbol, he would say "It is Eloria the Sky Warden, creator and protector of my people. She used to guide my way, and gifted me with her power to better serve her...but that was a long time ago. And much has changed."

There would be a terrible bitterness in his voice, and an indescribable agony can be felt...if you are an emotional sort, the pain in his voice could very well move you. Its the voice of a man who has lost more than most can imagine.

If continue askingt, eventually he would reveal at one time he was the greatest Paladin of his order, and envies you the guidance you still find in a god, as he no longer has that connection. But he prays daily, numerous times, especially everytime he steps under the sky, and you would notice he still lives by a code very similiar to a Paladin. If asked further about any of this, all he will say for the time is he is not from this area, and will be very vague about his land of origin, or where in midgard his accent or god is from.
