As the Flaxseed Lodge winds down for the evening and Ace's bar is in full use, the sound of trumpets erupts from the front of the Lodge as Karu boldly opens the door, hoisting a smallish sarcophagus with three of his lieutenants. Behind the sarcophagus and its pallbearers, four Pathfinders and a faerie dragon follow.

"Attention, Lodge!" he yells as several of the trainees from the Bold Striders immediately stand to attention. "We have grim... terrible news." he says, correcting himself once he realizes his error. His face remains somber.

"The mighty dwarf Grimdoc has perished in combat. The unstoppable force of the Emissary from Beyond descended on Dustpawn a few days ago. Grimdoc and the valiant Pathfinders behind me were the only ones to stand their ground against the monstrosity." he says proudly.

"In its last breath, the Emissary stripped away Grimdoc's soul before the valiant Ennoia the Bold could finish off the slimy beast." he informs the Lodge. "The remains of Grimdoc shall be interred with his family, however we shall erect a statue of this mighty warrior in the Training Hall in order to inspire those here."

Karu closes his eyes for a moment and composes himself. "We will place this sarcophagus in the catacombs beneath the Lodge as he was both a Pathfinder as well as a dwarf and deserves to be recognized as such!" he yells before marching towards the entrance to the Catacombs. The trainees of the Bold Striders immediately bow as deep as possible when the entourage passes.

GM Aarvid's Brother Grimdoc has permanently perished in service to the Society. His sacrifice allowed for the rest of the group to survive and the costs of retrieving his soul were deemed too high by the dwarf once he was contacted via Speak with Dead. Huzzah for the mighty Grimdoc!

I try to commit to posting six days a week with one substantive post per day. A substantive post is one that moves the story along.

If it works for you, then I'm sure you will find players as long as you are consistent.

"Ah, you failed to mention that Durvin Gest is possibly the most famous Pathfinder in all of history, hence why his blade is not given to fresh recruits." he says, fairly impressed by Wynn's knowledge.

Karu chuckles as you ask about the second mission. "Well, the second mission is a secret." he says as he refuses the blade's return, leaving it with Morrin. "Why do keep trying to give it back?" he asks as a reaction to both Morrin and Kalendir trying to give it to him.

"Take this blade to Eliza... I mean, Venture Captain Petulengro, and she will give you the details." Karu says with a knowing grin. "Make your preparations carefully and try to avoid any resistance fighters in Galt. I hear they have decided to make trouble again." he comments, though Galt's political instability is well-known around all of Golarion.

With that, he taps Braugher on the shoulder and the tengu easily stands from the lotus position. The pair leave you to your thoughts, cutting off any questions you may have as Venture-Captain Karu and his lieutenant Braugher remain in the Zone of Silence that surrounds the tengu.

Seeing Atum take out two of the Adrils in a moment, Karu sets his mind to the task of felling the one next to him. "Prepare yourself, Adril! I won't hold back!" he yells as he adopts his Dragon Style and releases a flurry of attacks, imbuing the first strike with acid and calling down holy vengeance.

Karu pulls back his fist after it connects with the druid's jaw, happy that his power has felled the summoner. "Sigh... this magician has left me exhausted. I need a few minutes." he remarks.

As Kynrac blesses him, he feels rejuvenated and stands up boldly, ready to move forward.

Seeing that Faldoc has approved the next lever, Karu strides forward and boldly pulls the metal rod. "Gird your loins, men!" he calls out as he pulls with vigor.

As the centipedes wash over Karu, he feels their little mandibles break through the Stoneskin and pierce his flesh. He begins to slap at them, squashing a few, but there are just so many...

Karu, looking for the device to contact the Society, spies the geode. "Anyone have thoughts on how to use a rock to contact the Society?" he asks as he picks it up and looks it over with Detect Magic.

I hope this is it and not something else in this room... he thinks to himself, imagining the embarrassment. Surreptitiously, he looks around the room to see if there is anything else of note.

"Oh... Well that was disappointing." remarks Karu, envisioning a large bird of prey perched on his shoulder for the final confrontation with Adril. As the bird takes its leave of the Decimvirate's sanctum, he waves at it. "Good luck on doing whatever it is you are doing, bird!"

Smiling, he turns to Faldoc. "Alright, let's press on with your idea Faldoc!" he says in encouragement to the archer. He exeunts the room to the south and head to the east, finding a door. "Steel yourselves, men!" he says confidently as he opens the door, shield at the ready.

Noticing the osprey's eyes following him, Karu boldly moves to inspect the ivory carving. He hefts the bird into his hands if he is able and casts Detect Magic on it, as well as the other statues, trying to see if these items are magical in nature and possibly dangerous.

Karu looks kindly at Kynrac and bows his head. "Thank you for your aid! We shall share a kale smoothie once we are back to the Lodge!" he says proudly before moving to inspect the door opened by Faldoc.

Karu stands in the entrance and gazes into the darkness, scowling at what he sees.

"There is something... trapped in some sort of column that seems to be causing the darkness." Karu tells Faldoc as he shudders from the unnatural chill. "It does not seem that Adril is in this room, however." he adds.

"Let's move on. I care not to deal with the trappings of the Decimvirate without extensive knowledge." Karu reasons as he looks around.

The purplish room to the west looks to be a good starting point and he moves into the long room and up to the door, pulling it open to check the contents. Provided moving into 7 doesn't cause some sort of event.

Karu looks around the room and see a figure heading towards a vaguely green portal as two other seem to congregate with a fifth standing alone.

Shrugging, Karu wordlessly moves to the grouping and barely makes out the basin, choosing to take an ioun stone from the grouping in the bottom of the container ,and set it to orbit around his head.

"Oh, well that is convenient." Karu says as he motions for Faldoc to stop shoveling the ex-Adril water into his canteen.

Pointing to the four men previously pledged to Adril, Karu bellows to them in his drillmaster voice. "Gather up Kol Voss' remains and his gear from the wreck! You will be carrying it back as penance for your crimes against the princess."

Turning to the princess, he offers her his shoulder as the group sets off towards the city.

"I know that our Society has only proved trouble for your land between two corrupt Venture-Captains, but perhaps we may prove our worth by helping you back to your city and then we can open up talks with you and your people." Karu suggests to the lady as he helps her walk across the alien landscape.

He slams his fist into the chains, breaking them with a few well-placed strikes. As the metal shatters, Karu helps the lady to her feet. "Kol Voss is dead madam. Slain by one of Adril's lackeys on the airship before we crashed. Apologies." he says with a bow.

As the chill sets in, the aasimar ignores it. "Some enemies have appeared, fellows." he warns as a Wall of Fire erupts.

Karu sighs as he helps deliver the knockout blow to the traitorous Jarl. When the man falls and Voss challenges Adril, the Champion waits expectantly in the arena as Kynrac teens to the wounds.

"I appreciate your aid, Kynrac, however my wounds are nothing compared to Atum. Tend to him. " he tells the ranking member of the faith.

Karu has 2 nonlethal only after the mass CLW. Use the extra CSW on Atum. :D

Karu hoists Boomer onto his shoulder as the group pursues the coward. "We will find solace for your hound, Faldoc." he assures the man.

As the group rushes into the airship, Karu nods to Atum, Faldoc, Mark and Kynrac. Once on the deck, near the railing, the aasimar sets down Boomer and lashes his body to the railing to prevent the loss of the beloved pet.

Turning to the group, he starts planning. "Let's quickly board their ship once we catch up. Hopefully, we have some long range artillery or ideas to make that happen..." he says, looking expectantly at the two miracle creators.

First, it does need to be said. Thank you for picking up the game after the departure of Tektite. The players you have here are all very strong players and you are a well- versed GM.

Second, I think my words misled you. I am not insinuating anything. I don't think you did anything iffy by the rules of Pathfinder or PFS. What you did was completely legal.

Third, I have not been spoiled for the scenarios, so I do not know Voss's importance, but I am well aware of PFS' obsession with lose a ton of gold and Prestige if you let a helper NPC die.

Fourth, my complaint was just that a round was spent where we all keep our distance and Voss failed to read the room. He charged in and died to a full attack, which is the expected result of his actions. Is that a plausible scenario? Definitely. Is it even plausible within a single GM post? Of course. Why does it leave a bitter taste in my mouth? The GM controls both characters and the one aiding us died (possibly affecting our Chronicle) due to bad tactics, having other options, not realizing that he is weaker than Skelg despite the rolling dog head, etc.

This is a critique, yes, but this single incident doesn't imply you are a bad GM or that I think you are a bad GM. Far from it, you know the rules and FAQS and errata far better than I know them. Please don't think that I am trying to undermine or mock or insinuate. I just wanted to bring it up before we moved away from it.

You are doing a great job of keeping everything in order and providing great role-playing even while in combat.

I'm asking because we will probably lose a Campaign Point or Prestige Point for his death and it was unilaterally decided that he die in a single post with no possibility of intervention based on "Hurr durr. I'mma barbarian." logic.

An animal companion was cut down in a single blow. One of the frontliners readied a strike when he approached. The other missed. So Voss charges in. Eats an Aoo. Then eats a full attack and die before we can react as everyone acts warily to the threat. He negates my action and then dies because of GM fiat. Is it legal? Sure. Does it leave a bad taste in the mouth? For me, yes.

Scions of innately magical bloodlines, the chosen of deities, the spawn of monsters, pawns of fate and destiny, or simply flukes of fickle magic, sorcerers look within themselves for arcane prowess and draw forth might few mortals can imagine.

I have a crossblooded bloodline that combines the powers of two distinct heritages, and a wildblooded sorcerer with a mutated version of a more common bloodline. In most cases, sorcerers with this bloodline are the offspring of two sorcerers from different ancestries, but occasionally a crossblooded sorcerer arises from the conjunction of other powers. I was raised in the arcane schooling college, more like a wizard, while also in the cloistered life of a scion of House Cannith, receiving the wisdom of my elders to guide me.

My family has always been skilled in the eldritch art of magic. While many of my relatives were accomplished wizards, my powers developed without the need for study and practice. Scholars of the arcane are always creating new means to use magic, while House Cannith has members that are well known for their innovation and advancements in technology.

I possess a deep bond to Siberys, the Dragon Above, which shapes my sorcerous powers. Special Qualities
• Agile Maneuvers - You add your Dexterity bonus to your base attack bonus and size bonus when determining your Combat Maneuver Bonus instead of your Strength bonus.
• Blood of Siberys - You add +4 to your effective Charisma for purposes of determining bonus sorcerer spells and the maximum level of spells you can cast. For example, even if your natural Charisma is 14, you can still cast up to 8th-level sorcerer spells. • Bloodline Arcana: Arcane (Ex) - When a metamagic feat increases a spell level, the spell gains +1 DC.
• Cautious (Flaw)- You must spend twice as long performing any skill that requires an action. For example, deciphering a page of text would take 2 minutes for you instead of 1, while the Concentration skill is not affected by this flaw as it does not require an action. • Cowardly (Drawback) - Your base speed when frightened and fleeing, and the penalties you take for having the cowering, frightened, panicked or shaken conditions increases by 1. increases by 5 feet. • Dragonmarked Sorcerer - Add all sorcerer spells from your dragonmarked house's least, lesser, and greater dragonmarks to your list of known spells, even if you are too low of a level to cast them yet (you cannot cast these spells until you are of the appropriate level to do so). You also gain a physical dragonmark, although this does not provide you with spell-like abilities. Initially, this resembles the least dragonmark of your house. When you gain the ability to cast a spell replicating the power of a lesser or greater dragonmark, your mark changes to the appropriate shape and size.

Description:
Ceilidh's blue eyes are light and mysterious and stark against her bronze skin. Her dark brown hair graces her shoulders. She has a noble posture, almost challenging. A tattoo of an upside-down tree runs down her neck, spreading across her shoulders. It's actually not one tattoo, but hundreds of tiny magical sigil tattoos, forming the image of an upside-down barren tree.

Personality:
Ceilidh is very against inequality. She has been homeless and an outcast (often by choice) for good portions of her life, so she feels for the underdog, the marginalized. She fears people blame and suspect her for attacks against people and places, because of her magic, and even for just unfortunate events happening. She worries she's a bit of an unintended terrorist. So she has latched onto a few incidences she's read about that involved real terrorists...elves. Because of her frustration over her own situation, she tends to read the worst in elves and comes across as passively racist.

She's brilliant, but a bit of an alcoholic. She can't sleep without a drink. She loves a good cigar but will complain about someone tracking in dirt, or not washing their face. Calculating and thoughtful in her planning, she often doesn't think about what she is going to say before she says it in conversation.

Background:
Ceilidh is a hard woman to love. She's brilliant and believes she is on a mission to civilize the world, one person at a time. She believes that society is doomed because of the way people treat each other, and the way the species treat each other. She believes that there is a problem with the rich crushing the poor, even though she doesn't believe that there is something inherently wrong with being rich.

She distrusts magic, feels it is only abused, and dislikes religion, feeling it is a big con. The conundrum of her life lies in the fact that she seems to seep magic from every pore. She would prefer to just read a book, cook an extravagant meal, enjoy an expensive scotch and cigar, and live out her life in a warm place overlooking the sea.

She believes in the best of mankind, but also believes that most people are idiots; sheep, with no willpower, to make an informed choice for themselves, bent on treating each other poorly simply for a lack of understanding, or because they want a cookie.

She was born in the southeast of Cyre, in the small village of Little Mingin, an upscale village on the edge of Lake Cyre, made up mostly of House members. Her family sent her away to school in Metrol because "weird things always happened around her", the final straw being when she gave a House manager from Thrane's daughter a purple beard.

At fifteen her tattoo appeared, growing steadily down her back. She was afraid it was a disease or infection of some sort. Her fears, it seems to her, were confirmed. She is infected with magical energy. It took the form of a slowly growing upside-down tree, made of thousands of tiny arcane symbols, one by one appearing on her skin, bleeding down her back, slowly over the years. Every time something strange happened around her, the tattoo grew a little more.

At the age of 21, she awoke in an inn she was staying at in a city on the shores of Kraken Bay while working as a freelance researcher for Venture-Captain Obo...or what remained of the inn. Her bed alone stood unharmed, on an untouched rise in a crater where the 'Three Barmaids' once stood. She believes she destroyed it with her magic. That was when her Mark changed from a tiny shoot to a tiny sapling on her back. It was also the Day of Mourning.

She wants nothing more than to control this magic, so it can't hurt anyone else. She can't let this thing inside her destroy everything around her.

Over the next year, driven by fear of hurting anyone, she made her way to Sharn, where the amount of alcohol they served seemed to match her thirst well.

She is a human, and rumor had it her grandmother was a Tiefling, being from Metrol, but she honestly considers herself human (no matter what those kids said). She cannot stand racism, and will quickly lose her cool if she sees it in practice.

She is not a hero and has done nothing she considers special.

Goals:
Ceilidh wants to figure out why her tree tattoo began to develop...and what it means.

Aside from that, she is really wanting to learn how to cook rice the way they did back home. It was like little pillows of air. That, and the perfect scotch. She hears rumors that there is a scotch from the Demon Wastes that has stopped the battle there, simply so demons and Paladins could share it.
