*hugs back and yawns* I'm in the OC area. But I venture north to Burbank tho see my mum. Its great to be back. I've missed the games almost as much as I've missed you peoples. Can't wait to get back into it Can I get like a super cliff notes recap of what's been happening? We got the wheel, and it'll take a while to catch up on the rest... Same with the other games... =p
Hey everybody! I finally got moved into our new place in California. Its been pretty non-stop since I last was on, and while I'm still woefully unemployed, I have a roof with my fiancee, and Wi-Fi and have a lot of catching up to do. Lucky for me, Dhaavans unconcious, afaik. Umm is there anything I or my idiot sorcerer can see, or are we thoroughly out of it?
While Dhaavan observer the singers with a casual amusement, enjoying the melody, and starts humming along with them, Jack frees himself from Dhaavan's skin and looks around. He flit over to rain when he sees the note, moving to patch on her shoulder, although he will be waved away and return with little effort.
It's cool guys. I'm keeping Dhaavan company as he suffers truly unspeakable agonies it the deepest pits of hell. So he's fine. A little torture never hurt anybody. But he would appreciate it if you would kill this fish.
You idiot, Last time i got attacked by a Hells-Damned MANTICORE! That was got to be the worst thing what ever happened to me, I'll tell you straight, ya #@%*&^!$, you! But fine, I'll take a me a lookie-loo, I don't come back if YOU die, so... With that, Jack flits off in the totally wrong direction, Flying low until he's a speck over the water and disappears from view entirely. Then only some mighty keen-sighted sees him flying out above the ship back toward the bay where he dives lower looking out for danger as he scouts the bay...
Jack takes his leave of Amen-set and chitters at Dhaavan who replies briefly in kind. The bird then finds his way to Flynn's shoulder and chirps at the man in Inferal. Dhaavan on the other hand takes some time to survey the village and meet up with the crew that's coming to the harbor.
Flynn: "So you walked out of the room when the lady brought up marrying Dhaavan, and I talked to Amen-set and she aint' bent outta shape about it or nuthin, an it looks like everthin's goin alright."
"What's your problem?" Flynn knows Jack and DHaavan well enough that the Sorcerer's concern for others, especially Flynn with his dark moods, seems to leave Jack rather terse due to some quirk of their empathetic link. So Jack's typical a-sociability would only reflect worry for a friend and curiosity about what of this arrangement is bothering Flynn.
Amen-set: "Uuuummm, I guess I'll tell 'im that you not mad and wanna talk to 'im," the bird chirps. "The idiot should have sense not ta not get hisself in trouble. She seem like she not lookin for love, but more a plaything for the bedroom what's a good enough pirate. An' say whatcha will about the idiot, he can tell a story..."
Forgot about that part about the signal... Jack wriggles out from the collar of Dhaavan's shirt as the sorcerer utters a few strange non-words and gives Jack a stern look. The bird chirps an affirmation and flits off, leaving the Lady to potentially question exactly to whom she is engaged, (unless she knows Dhaavan's a mage.) Jack flies in the casual circle to denote that all is well then flied down to the Lady. "Everthin's fine people! the bird chirps, sitting on Fishguts's shoulder. Picking a spare bit of meet from the man's Apron, the bird adds [b]"Alliance 'as been reached so yea can all get ready for some shore-leave, them'll let ya know when to make port an' all. 'Kay?"
Flynn: We are all invited on the tour, so as i understand it, we all exit the dining hall and stroll through the keep, Dhaavan walking in-step with Agasta, but everyone comes rather than waits in the dining hall. so 5 minutes after the tour begins, there's nobody in the dining hall, everyone's touring the keep.

Jack then flits over to Amen-set, glancing at Horus, as is natural for a thrush to do when near a bird of prey, but lands and speaks quietly to the girl.
Amen-set: waiting for his expected petts and skritches, the bird says, "Dhaavan wanted ta talk to ya 'bout this himself, but he'd rather ya learn about it from me than a'body else. See when the negotiatin started, the lady liked the terms, for the most part, but wanted a more firmer commitment than words. So in the shackles there's this weird temporary alliance thing that they do with marrying people for a little while at a time, and that was the deal, she "marries" one o' the officers for a year and then see what happens. and she picked Dhaavan. Kinda freaked him out, an he didn't seem ta have much choice if he wanted ta do his job and stuff for the sake of the ship and everyone..."
"He tol' me ta be nice or sensative 'bout this or something, but it looks like yea dont' have ta stop playin with him if ya dont' want, cause it's a business political marriage thing, not a god-magic deal for families that you humans do. Or ya can stop if ya want too, I guess... I dont' really get what the big deal is, but he was all worried and stuff about how you'd feel and dont' want ya hearing the wrong thing and getting mad or hurt or something." If the bird sould shrug he totally would right now, but instead contents himself to preening. Knowing Jack as well as she does, she knows the bird thinks most human feelings are silly, but in this situation, he is trying to be sensative to Amen-set, purely at Dhaavan's insistence. The sorcerer clearly cares about Amen-set's feeling on this matter, and was trying to assure her that this is a political marriage contract and not a slight against her at all. Jack's jsut absolutely terrible at kindness unless he's being affectionate in thanks for skritching or food.
You may or may not be able to tell, as birds facial expressions are all rather similar, but giving the most condescending glare a bird can give one of these featherless pink beasts, "You can sail close as yea care and i'll look from the boat, thanks. You can go flying out in the exposed open if you like and want a closer look." you just got sassed![ sorry, but you do recall the last time Jack flew out to s ship he almost died, so unless Dhaavan gives the order for him to scout, there's no way he's flying to a strange ship of his own volition any time in the near future. he does have a significant Perception mod tho so he'll still look from a safe perch. Perseption: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23 in case we get close to the ship and want info conveyed by the bird right off the bat and can make better decisions whenever Imm has a chance to reply...
Jack perches on Variel's shoulder and chirps, "Aye Cap'n. Dhaavan says what he wonders if there's any reason what the ship is sailin' strange. Maybe the Fisherman's seen sommat interestin, or needs a hand," not that Jack cares about helping the fishermen in the least, "But Dhaavan thinks it'd be help for the reputation or some sort as reasonable folk, or sumthing?" Dhaavan remains in the cabin working, not interested enough to come on deck yet, as he s rather busy with a detailed and important diagram at the moment...
Jack Flits away from Dhaavan and hites himself in the shadown of the window ad peaks in at the lights at the behest of his master who is holding his action, waiting to blast the ninja with violent conjured water. Dhaavan's holding for Hydrolic Push.
One yelp in the night isn't really worth waking Dhaavan about, but that scream of pain and the added shouting after is different. Like a dart, Jack bolts to the officer's quarters screaching out an aweful racket, awakening Dhaavan with a combination of the sound and fear, waking Dhaavan, chirping out in Common, "Comotion in the Cap'n's cabin" once he gets into the officer's rooms. Who sleeps in there these days? DOes Adular, during the night, as i know Flynn doesn't and Jiro is up at the helm at the moment.
Imm, as a rule, and previously I've Had Jack awake through the night hours and morning shift, so Dhaavan has a presence an the ship at all times. (Jack sleeps during the afternoon and dinner, waking up when Dhaavan goes to bed) So he'd be on deck, hiding in the most secure places he can find out of reach of that cat. Would the sudden stress and shock of the screaming jolt Dhaavan through the Empathetic link thay share, allowing him to move in round 1, rather than just be awakened by the comotion?
I'd say that by this time (2 rounds) Jack would have arrived at the Lady, yeah? "Hey there gorgeous!" Chirps a familiar voice, as Jack hovers briefly above Rain "Our boys are out, and their rudder's busted, so Lower some ropes so we can get up to the ship, and lets get a move on!" Jack's chirping cheerily as Dhaavan's feeling very releaved having snuck out the edge of the ship, and is bolting full tilt from the enemy ship toward the Lady or Sabanlot, at this point he don't care!
Not sure how the stealth rules work exactly for this situation, but if this is valid...
If that don't work, then Jack will remain with Dhaavan...
Scoff, of course a rigger would say that. I think we should promote a swab like Rosie or Shivikah. harrumph! =P
and he is one of those tricksey hobbitses. =]
"Hey! Gimme a snack! Captain's home safe, Elf, so ya don't need ta worry and we talked to people so we can sell stuff. I think that's everything..." "Right! Flynn, there's this guy we ran into, Skylord said he knew ya from sargava. We told him about you a little but were pretending to be somepeople else and not us so we told him about havinf met you". Jack nodds proudly at properly delivering the message.
With a whisper in Infernal from Dhaavan, Jack flits out and takes another run of the ship, searching for smuggling compartments like those on the Lady that hw watched being installed with Dhaavan. Sticking to the shadows and flitting from rafter to rafter, the infernal Thrush peeks about for spaces, keeping mostly out of sight and darting away if noticed before circling back to do a thorough examination. Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Till then, Dhaavan whispers to Jack in Infernal:
"When they're a little less than a mile out, I want you to scout their ship out. Fly low and duck under waves as you get closer. Just a quick Fly-over and move fast. See what sort of boat is it, and try to get a look at crew and Siege, but most important, stay safe, Alright?" stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28
Party time! Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
GM, compromise? while i'd much rather get to do double duty and have Jack function as a better spy taking languages that I don't have since really all i am going to want is Planar languages for summoning which are pretty worthless to a spy, how bout he gets his language, nad for every rank he gets a language that i know. that way at least he can keep common? cause with that nat 1, even Jack isn't going to see crap. so someone's going to have to tell him, or Dhaavan what's going on once he gets on deck.
Considering that Flynn took no efforts to conceal his searching, and spent about two minutes (Taking a 20 takes 20 rounds, which is 2 minutes) Jack hunkers down, hoping not to be seen. Flynn apparently notices him, so I'm assuming that FLynn's reaction was jsut to use another tongue that the bird doesn't know and that's it, leaving the thrush to sit there confused before getting bored again.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
He then flits off due to their hushed tones which are apparently of little to no interest to him.
What language are you guys speaking? Variel mentioned that he was using elvish. A little sparrow, none other than Jack flits around the tables where crewmen and officers are sitting. Pausing with the captain, Jack pecks at some leftovers in a crevice of the table, then looks at the other two, back and forth between then, and chirps as if to ask for a bite of something? Cocking his head to the side he continues hopping about as the elves converse.
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30 Dhaavan, who has been chatting with everyone around him recruiting crew, looks up at the sound of his name, and glances around the room, giving a nod in Flynn and company's general direction, looking past all of them. From behind, Barzazal hears a high-pitched voice chirp "Oye mate! So whatcha do? This guy's guessin's been fun but don't really say what yer deal is." Jack Thrush, the talking thrush takes a couple flaps and flits around Barzazal and lands on Flynn's head, preening. "Been sittin back there since almost e're since yea sat down. Was gonna go get him in a minute, m'self," the bird adds, eying Tomo, scrutinizing the monkey very closely, assessing wether or not it's a something what would eat birds...
How about the Black Pearl? I mean the Interceptor only NEEDED 2 to crew it, and by that logic of needing half the crew of being dead in the water, that required 4 to man properly. so that's a ship of 4 crew at least. But the pearl needed a respectable crew, as did the Duchman. Lets get boats like them! they were funships! ...minus the curses... |
