Humanoid Oddball
Gah, so very, VERY sorry- Me, for the most part, my apologies- Haven't had much time over the last few days, been in a recent production for a local theater group, so I've been out until eleven-ish, and I'm starting a all-bard campaign, so I haven't had that much time until today, and won't have much for the next few days until Monday. As it is, I posted.
Humanoid Oddball
"Oh, I have a room at the Evercandle inn, though I'm usually here in the afternoons- When I'm not, I'm usually in the market. You'll be able to see me there- It's hard to miss it." he said welcoming. The Courior from Earlier just stares at Sarona, completely without any idea what to say.
The waitress nods, handing fist a nice beer. She smiles, as she walks off, saying something idly to another waitress, causing a brief pause in the other waitresses walk, before continuing to walk.
Humanoid Oddball
"Oh, it's fine," the odd man said, the drinks being delivered with speed. He took a long swig from his, as he handed Caimor his.
The watress pauses, and waves, "Good day there, Hon- Ya want some drink?
"Yikes- Those things are just... Ugh." she said.
Sarona would hear a breif yelp, and would hear someone try appear inconspicuous, and blending into the background.
Humanoid Oddball
After a walk that seemed to take forever, you finally arrive at the building "Ah, pleasure to meet all of you!" a garrulous
As any of you sit down, you hear some muttering form people around you as you sit down at your gambling tables. Sarona might hear something from around a pillar nearby, with a DC 20 perception check. Tazwell would see Val drinking with a odd man, laughing with him. He would stand up, and walk over to Caimor.
Kerin would hear about how some Gremlin was found crying in a corner recently, crying out about a giant man, who decimated all who stood in it's way, destroying goblins with the utmost ease.
Posting intrest- I'm posting interest as a Summoner//Vivisectionist Alchemist. Current character concept is basically an older Isaac, from The Binding of Isaac (The game, not the myth.) This will explain his synthesised form to almost no degree.
May I provide my two cents?
Eldrich Knight fails to function as either a caster or a fighter, due to lower to hit. Meaning that, for that time, he is most likely useless. Mystic Theurge takes ages to get into, and, while taking three levels in Wizard, you cannot function in your roll as the "Fixer" of problems, since you do not have the spells needed. Arcane Trickster still functions as the trapfinder, and glass cannon, but not as effectively (Nor as effectively as a Rouge), due to the delayed 1d6, failing to keep up with the exponential HP growth, while also failing to work as effectively as a wizard, while getting outshines by other casters who didn't get a dip.
Eh, I kinda like the idea of SLA being used to gain early entry into prestige classes, not from a crunch perspective, but from an actual fluff perspective- Sure, you might not be as well versed, but the thing is, you have lived with the magic in your blood your life. You have felt the magic flow through you with immense ease. You've lived with this magic all your life. You've felt Divine or arcane magic flow through your blood. And you've known how to channel it forever- Even if it's one thing. To this day, you are fully aware of how your spell works- To the core, even. You know your spell inside out, even if not how most others draw it into existence. It's a jump. A hurdle. And, oftentimes, what's important to performing magic is knowing how it works- Not the prescise gestures, or as much training. You need to know how second level spell work, as listed, and, the thing is, you DO know. You HAVE known for most your life. chbgraphicarts wrote: -Snip- The question is, is it a "This OR that" thing? While Archetypes are wonderful, Prestige Classes offer quite a bit more versatility in character creation, allowing for a even larger range of character options, even if it is later in a characters life. Archetypes AND prestige classes may work in harmony to make a wonderful mixture of beauty so that a concept can be realized to perfection, rather than simply to a passable degree. So, the point still stands- Why is it "YOU CAN EITHER BE WITH THE ARCHETYPE SYSTEM OR BE WITH THE PRESTIGE CLASS SYSTEM, YOU CANNOT WISH FOR THEM TO LIVE IN HARMONY FOR THEY CANNOT LIVE IN HARMONY! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE! IN THE MOST LITERAL MEANING POSSIBLE! YOU CANNOT DO SO! EVER! UNDERSTAND?! IT'S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE!"My apologies if it seems rude, it's just that your phrasing of it kinda implies this stance on the subject. I understand your dislike of the 3.5 system of doing things, however, I'd argue that, while Archetypes can handle a ton of things, they cannot handle EVERYTHING. You cannot make a archetype for every character archetype that exists. That's the primary fault in the Archetype system. Prestige classes can fill the remaining fault in this respect. Just my two cents on the concept.
I'm sad. So very sad. I'm heartbroken. I've been itching to play a Mystic Theurge for ages now, but... Now I can't. And it makes me sad. If Pazio is listening to this thread, I'll just show my two cents on the subject- If race isn't costly enough, then may I propose maybe a feat of some sort? Maybe a feat specifically for Prestige Classes? Currently I'm thinking a feat like this-
Prestige Class Entry Early: Treat your class level for class features in up to two classes as two higher for the purpose of entering a prestige class. So a rouge 1/wizard 1/commoner 2 may take a level of Arcane Trickster, since they qualify with the theoretical level 2 spells, and theoretical 2d6 sneak attack damage.
Treat the skill rank prerequisite for Prestige Classes as one lower. You may substitute this feat for one feat prerequisite for a prestige class.
CommandoDude wrote:
... That's actually pretty decent, thinking about it. Your character's brutally boring, but, if your DM gives you free ranks in profession, put those ranks in Profession (Murderhobo), and your character will be well versed in dungeon design, if stabbing stuff is easy or not, good places for traps, best places to lay an ambush, all by putting a few ranks in Profession (Murderhobo) to answer questions about your profession (AKA, killing shit).
I RETURN AGAIN. To provide you with further detail on how to play him! Your character is incredibly boring. I'm talking, INCREDIBLY boring. Have him be stupidly socially incapable, have him make rude comments to your magical friends, ect. Your character doesn't have much to talk about beyond stabbing folks, and stabbing magic folks. But you know what you do have? A clever head. You can tell when folks are lying through their teeth, and point out that, if they do, you'll stab their face off. Then stab them if they lie again. From that point on, you're companions should probably aid another you several times to ensure your intimidation actually gets what you need from them. Also- Something to note, without training, casting a first level spell deals 1d3 intelligence damage, second level 1d4, and third 1d6. Also, if your familiar can speak, have him speak for you. Next up- A decent comparison would be heavy weapons guy from TF2- Read it's comics, and you'll not notice heavy a lot, but he does notice things.

Hello, posting interest, with Three ideas- One is a True Neutral Wizard Necromancer/Juju Oracle Mystic Theurge. The other is a sneaky Illusionist that f***s with everyone's head. The third is a child soldier turned Wizard running from her homeland to advoid being dragged back to her magic-loathing barbarian king.

Garmen Ulreth is one of the more influentioal people of the torch, pouring funds into nearly every endevour in the city- Including the theives guild- A band of thuigs called the Ropefists. The owner of the Silverdisc might be a Ropefist, in fact- Nobody is entirely certain. He employs enough thugs as bouncers, at any rate. I did tell you about The Silverdisc, right? The Gambling place? Caimor would notice absolutely nothing, EXCEPT for the fact that, when you hold the note to the light, it states, "Don't be late." - Dolga looks at the severed gremlin skull.

You were thrown away like trash, since you could no longer work. But a savior came in the form of a racial enemy- the dwarves. a dwarf ddrowslayer took him in, and taught him her ways, despite your unnerving nature. She died three years ago. Killed by your kin. And you were returned to your family, six years and hundreds of drow deaths later, the hatred of the arcane fueling your mothers death.
Apologies if it Isn't that great, wrote it on mumy phone.

"Eh, we kill folks who pass through, she gives us food and doesn't kill us. That was the old cheif, though- I'd rather not, you know, get impaled." She looks at the card, "I have no idea, some techy thing. She wanted them, so take 'em." she said, "Ought to be pretty valuable, or something." Kaimor knows that the card functions as a sort of key to a lot of technological doors, opening doors that, otherwise, would be closed. They are rare things, and some of the rarer keys cost hundreds of gold. This brown one is reletively cheap, however. Silverdiscs, as you have been alerted to, and as is commonly known in Numeria, are silver discs, usually used as currancy equaling ten gold each while broken, or, when silvery to the sheen, 100. Later: Your exit is relatively unevental, and as you all exit from the lake, and make your ways back home, after about ten you're stopped by a courier, a look of mild nervousness on his face, "Oh, good day, sirs! I have a-Uh-Mesaage for ya, you know. You know Garmen? He's offering you all a trip, you know, to the Illustrious Tavern and Card Room, the Silverdisc Hall. Oh, he also said to, you know, give you all this," He said, fumbling through his bag, handing everyone fliers for 100 gp for playing games, and the letter itself.
"So, you know, I'll just be off now, you know." he said, running away.
Raised in toil, pain, agony. A family who believe him destined to become the next mighty mage.
Now? Those who cast spells will die. They will not force another to suffer as he did. Those days of his prime are gone, now, but the lessons he learned still remain. Actually, him ending a mage and being forcefully teleported onto an island in the middle of nowhere, being stranded for months or years explains that. I don't suppose I can see your stats?
Alright, very intresting, and I'm gonna roll for stats, though... I do have a request (Though one that'll probably be shot down):
End resault- 16, 18, 14, 13, 14, 13, 16, I think.
So, I've whipped up a Bard archetype for a non-fighty sort of bard, and I want to hear all of your opinions on it- Masterpiece Bard wrote:

Eh, in many ways, builds are characters- Their the engine that runs a character, and if that engine is very different from the outside, then you end up with a feeling that something is OFF. That things don't quite FIT. You feel slightly uneasy, as you pass your acrobatics check. This feeling runs over you, and you can't escape it. It perviates every d20 you roll. Your character's actions never fit the mechanics. They don't seem to WORK. Crunch and fluff in pathfinder is tightly interwoven- They are still separated, but the line can be thin, and grows thinner the more you build your character. You can't build a suave character without charisma, because charisma represents how suave your character is. You can't have a Barbarian without Strength who's backstory is how he wrecked face when angered, because the mechanics speak otherwise. He can't have done that in his backstory, because his crunch doesn't fit his fluff. How did he wreck face? He can't.

Alright- Though I will admit, I'd rather he not be that offensive in his actions, which, unfortunately, the bard's kinda made for- Hence my proposal of the Conductor (Basically, bard re-focused into battlefield control).
Yay! Someone's here! Just want to run this character by you, first- Ralph Quioxte, having wandered for fifty years to return to his lover from his youth, Koya, afer having traveled far across the sea against his free will, and he wishes to make her love him as she did in his youth. Mechanically, he'll be a Bard, or the homebrew class I'm making called the Conductor.
Hello, posting intrest! I'd like to ask you- What do you think about Early Entry? Primarily, I've been ITCHING to play a Mystic Theurge- What do you think about early entry? Primarily, I've got a semi-done Half-Elf one, concept wise- Primarily, this relies on the Drow Magic alternate racial trait- A relatively young half-elf woman, loathed by many, but clever, and fairly inteligent- She hid. She's not particularly notable- Here, the crunch and fluff are intertwined, so I'll tell you the crunch, then seguway into the fluff-
Flavor wise, she'll be quiet. Very quiet. She's not one to talk very loudly, or frequently. But she watches. She sits there, watching.
As for how she was hired, well, she's been promised information on what's going on in this town, and she wants to know it ALL.

"No, liquid ice burns because it's always on fire." she said quite blankly.
Sef chuckles, then points to Sarona. "That's an android, there." she said, idly. "The other one had weird purple hair, said she was a cleric of a god named Hellion- never heard of him, myself, she was doing magic, so must be some obscure god or something." she idly said.
Humanoid Oddball
There's little here, other than the spear and some scrap metal that the thing was made up of. There's some doughnut residue in their mouth, but When you guys go off to collect your reward: "Well... That was.. Rather effective."
She stares at you all. She hands you some liquid ice, a bag containing forty five silverdiscs, and five strange cards made of a flexible, smooth material. These five cards each bear a brown stripe. "Thanks for the help- This purple haired android was looking for these things, found them in the ruins a couple days back."
I'm enjoying it- the heheat is popping my popcorn for me, I'm brewing a nice stew over the flame, the broken railway tracks have formed a SUPURB front row seat to this epic wartime film, and I even get to watch some pretty passable discussion over all the fireballs, machine gun fire, and the ping of swords hitting steel minds, all wrapped around a wonderful tragedy coating just out of view. I'm enjoying it, myself, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Tell me, you're playing a new class called "The Conductor," who's primary class ability is to summon choirs and orchestras to sing for your party, making all battles to the tune of epic music, akin to Verdi's Dies Irae, Mars: The Bringer of War, The 1812 overture finale, And epic tunes of their glory What do you do? How would you say it would probably work? (I just want to see how you interpret the idea).
Humanoid Oddball
You've killed them all, as the fire pierces the gremlins chest with ease.
-Combat Complete-
So, I've had characters for these campaigns I've been dying to try out- The only issue is that I don't have anyone to play them with, nor folks really willing. As such, I'd like to see if anyone cares to offer to DM an adventure path for me. Characters for the adventure paths: Jade Regent-
Ralph Williams- A wandering singer, he had walked on his own for the past fifty years. A minor request would be allowing me to take the Childhood Crush campaign trait with Koya. Kingmaker
Carrion Crown
Interjection Games wrote: -Snip- Well, this is rather intresting! Pleasure to see you posting in this thread. Thanks for the information about that, sounds rather nice, actually. I'll buy it when I can. To be frank, neither does the Conductor- I origionally thought he would end up with more summoning, but, nope, only one summoning song (Admitably, a pretty good one). May I ask what kind of Wizard and Cleric? They're a shockingly diverse bunch- I'm assuming your either talking about healer or buffer clerics, and regular wizards. Is it closer to Battlefield control wizards, buffer wizards, or?... My apologies if it's confusing, just something I was wondering. The breakdancer doesn't sound like something I'd really care about, to be honest. All in all, they look really intresting. As it is, may I ask your opinion on how well the class looks, and on a few other things-
Also, yeah, it's modular- I find it allows for easier creation of songs, and for players to coustomize it. As it is, I'm currently thinking of whether or not to implement some sort of "Mood" system for Melodies and moments, but I feel like it'll be adding another layer of complexity that isn't really needed that much.
Hm...
Also, DM, question- Your opinion on the retraining rules? I would love to re-train Toughness to Improved Initiative at a later date (It's primary purpose currently is to boost her hit points so that she doesn't die early on).

Well I feel dumb. And, personally, if CL 1, then it wouldn't be that bad- It'll take four spell slots to refill the magic missiles, so if we don't spend much time to rest, it's effectively a clunky 2 charge wand. And I'd still like to get the other stuff, too. Also- I need to get equipment sorted out soon. Then finish writing her backstory. Equipment will be somewhat difficult, due to her weak 6 strength giving her a carrying capaicty of 20 ibs. 23 with a masterwork backpack. And I still have to type up her background and decide between Sword Scion and Noble House (Meyned). Gah, not sure what to do...

This reduces the price down to only 900 gp, rather than 8000 gp ((400*1*1)+(300*1*1)+(200*1*1) vs (400*1*8)+(300*1*8)+(200*1*8)). Also, the item appears to be overpriced, with The formula resulting in it costing 7200 gp rather than the listed 8000. Probably for the purpose of being more valuable when sold. Andrezi the Wanderer wrote: No jealousy here. I would love a Bag of Holding Type III, so I thought I'd ask just like DM Vagabond. Otherwise I might have to buy a mule and cart for all the corpses. Far less useful. Yeah- Though, in my defense, I came up with Katlin in another kingmaker game that died rather quickly- And I stumbled on the staff of minor arcana while sifting through the OGC item list, noticed the fluff, and found that it fit her status rather well.
Allaeron wrote:
Well, the primary reason there is because, she is, in fact, an aprentice spellcaster who is pretty much hastily rushed through her tutelage. AKA, almost the literal description of the staff. If not, I'd be cool with it, but I'm just making a request. And you can just stab the guy next door, you know, and eat their flesh. Isn't that difficult.
Gird Medvyed wrote:
I know, right? Also, a (Primarily flavor) request- May I have a Staff of Minor Arcana? Alternatively: May I take a second drawback (Naive) to gain the Rich Parents traits to grab either a wand of Summon Monster, Grease, or Magic Missile? Also, I want your guys opinions- Which do you think would be a more viable trait for flavor- Noble Born (House Medvyed), or Sword Scion? Sword Scion, while fairly useless, fits more mechanically with the flavor, but fluff-wise, minimally. House Medvyed, meanwhile, fits more fluff-wise with Kaily, but mechanically it doesn't fit at all.

Ah. Well, that's fluff done there. Shame I can't find it on any OGL, so most PbP and online games won't accept them. Either way, I don't think any of the classes will probably play like the Conductor- The conductor's primary strength is Action Economy, with it's primary weakness being that his action economy can be killed as a swift action, in addition to his caster level. How do any of the other classes play?
Well holy carp, I hope I'm not too late!
Primary, a girl, a savent in the Arcane Arts, bearly old enough to adventure as of yet- 14 years of age. Born and raised in academia, she's the bastard child of a Noblewoman and a Elf Man. Her father desired for her to, one day, become a mighty warrior... but she was weak. She wasn't one for combat, ever. Her mother was... Not particularly nice, though she never noticed. Her father's pressure bored on her to grow stronger, yet her ability was weak, and she held no interest in the art of combat. She tried to continue with her fighting, but always failed to even meet the basics...
She awoke in the tower of a Wizard, who sought to keep her in safety. He kept her in his home, and taught her the Arcane arts as practice for himself... And she picked them up. Quickly. What took many wizards years took mere months for her. She was swift to learn, swift to understand. Her father worried, in this time. He sought her. He sook to find her, to apologies for the worry he caused her... She didn't know this. For when she found posters looking for her, she worried. She didn't want to go back. She didn't want to leave. Meanwhile, her master worried. She, in a mere years time, learned wizardry to an incredible degree... It was just... Unnerving, to him. She, on a whole, was. There was a letter- He had been hired to go and deal with the bandit problem in a nearby country, in return for granting him a kingdom. He told her, she was mighty enough that she could handle this task- Return after performing it, and he will continue teaching her. Knowing it was a escape, a hope of not being known, she took it, gladly, and with a smile. Functionally, this would be a Teleportaion Conjurer, built using the Child Rules, but without the NPC class restriction. She'll have 20 Int, so the quick pick-up isn't that bad.
Humanoid Oddball
The gremlin jumps over the punch, stumbling down, before getting a swift pummeling to the face, then being burnt alive, lying on the ground, dying. The second one succeeds in only getting by with mild scorches, before getting another bash to the skull, stumbleing back. The remainder are merely singed slightly. Tazwell's arrow strikes true enough, and drives into his shoulders, knocking it down, as it lies down, dying. Caimor moves without issue. The Gremlins procede to try to run, scampering into the hallway, and two of which just popping out of the area.
