I feel like the stuff before the ritual was what was important here. The various skill checks we did with the junior Pathfinders.

I also got a copy of my Chronicle GM and it looks good.

An hour later the dwarf has his hair and beard up and out of his face as he finishes butchering a deer that didn't escape the fire in time as a fire heats up what looks like a flattened shield with a bit of oil and vegetables splayed across it. A good thirty minutes later, the meal of grilled vegetables and meat is ready. He looks at the rest of the group and says, "Well, dig in."

Ionic stays on his feet and times the shaking well enough to scoop his trident from the ground as he studies the movements of the hand.

He then strides up to the hand and readies to attack it in a moment.

Ionic feels the slight burn of the evil creature's power try wrack his body but he is able to quickly marshal his mental defences and negate the worst of the effects.
Second nominating Herondal. He's been super helpful with his spells throught the scenario and that hideous laughter was well timed!

Ionic turns to give Pip a congratulatory clap on the back and comment on her bravery when she approaches, but gets surprised by the sudden potion in his face. He chugs it down, before taking a deep breath. "Bit unexpected... Also potion'as definitely bit stale."

Ionic blinks for a few second as he, he takes down the spirit. Knew should've double or noding-ed dis fight! He gives a slightly cocky grin and wave at Bardyth as he tries to hide how weak he truly feels. With his last two actions he hands Hoppper back his doglsicer and pulls out two potions with a PFS mark on it and downs the contents on his next round.

Using the school items to heal up.

He then starts to look for his trident on the ground.

Feeling faint and weak on his knees, Ionic delays just long enough to let Bardyth attack. i.e. these actions go after Bardyth's so he can still have flanking

He lays into the spirit with three attacks before backing off far enough to not be a target of the spirit's next attack.

Rereading Inspire Defence, I think Ionic should be down two more hit points as the resistance only applies to 'physical damage' and these attacks appear to be pure negative damage and making the argument of them stacking or not moot.

I might be miscalculating this but I think Ionic should only be down 60 hp. He was at 29, and got hit for a total of 34, that was then reduced by 2 from Inspire Defence and Ionic also has Negative Resistance 1 from his slotted Aeon Stone.

Ionic tries to resist the necrotic energies assaulting his senses. Fort Save, ID: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 1 = 16
If there's something worse than Drained 1 on a crit failure then I'll reroll that, but if there isn't I'll take it.

Feeling some of his life force be drained away, the dwarf gives a growl and stabs his trident into the ground, takes Hoppper's offered Dogslicer and starts to lay into the spirit with a level of fury typically only reserved for storms and other natural disasters.

GM, I think Ionic took 8 points of damage from the barrier if you wanted to track that in the damage totals.

Ionic continues to hoof it around the rift in the ground, annoyed that the spirit had to open a LITERAL rift to hell and not just a metaphysical one. It's just too far to sprint to the spirit and the dwarf instead has to jog to get adjacent. However, once he is there, Ionic tries to prove just how deadly he can be with a short few seconds. "Bardyth, whatcha estimation o' dis fellow? Worth even bettin' over?"

Ionic, not having much better to do except to fight things, marks the spirit as his prey as he ducks and rolls under the chained troll's attacks. "So, time ta go fa da spirit? Good fa me!"

He then takes one last roll and starts to sprint for the fire circle.
Will Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

He is not ready for the fire circle though as it sears through his mind and then flesh with necrotic flames.

He gets a mild burn that quickly festers into an open wound.

Rushing up to what looks like a rift in the ground he pauses for a millisecond trying to decide how to proceed. He then rushes off towards the spirit as best he can.
Not sure if Ionic can run across what looks like a giant rift in the center of the circle. If he can then he'll move to be adjacent to the spirit. If he can't then he'll run along the rift instead. I've put two semi-tranparent tokens to mark the possible placements.

Ionic dodges under the first attack leveled at him and then rolls away from the other two, using the momentum from his dodging to roll over to the next rune and troll, as he hopes to stay under the swing of this one that seems prepared for him to come in. "Bah, big lumberin' trolls!"

He then takes a quick look at the partially destroyed rune and just gives it a kick. "Ain't time ta be fancy!"

Ionic takes a risk and dives around the troll on the deactivated rune and marks it as his prey.

He then takes a few stabs at it with his weapons, hoping to take the thing down and move onto the next rune. "We wantin' ta take down trolls or runes? Don't matter right now cause I can't reach de next rune just yet."

Ionic gives a growl at the spirit and sprints closer to the fight instead of trying to mess around with the thing that threw a giant fireball his way. he dodges into the reach of the blue troll and tries to take out the rune there. "Danks for de healin'. Needed it. Let's send dis spirit packin'!"

Ionic gives a nod at the suggestion for a stir-fry meal. It might be just the thing for everyone to be able to enjoy. He pauses at Salliss's comment, thinking for a moment, before commenting, "Oxen're different creatures? I don't know but never met a vegan, oder dan oxen, strong as an ox."

Later approaching the ritual, Ionic gives a small sound akin to a mouse at the giant fireball that engulfs the party.

Ionic huffs into his beard as yet someone else takes down his prey before him. He mutters a few things in annoyance before taking a deep breath and calming himself. He looks over at Bardyth and, trying not to frown, asks, "So... Whaddja want for dinner? Can't be too fancy out 'ere, but 'll try."

Wait...I doidnt realize I was already flanking whoops! I'll just stay put, if I can.

Ionic realises that there's no reason to head into the smoke after all, and decides against moving into the acrid looking stuff in the first place. "Right. Stayin' put'sa good idea." Instead of trying to lash out a fourth time, he raises his dagger to try fending off the brimorak instead.

New actions: Strike, Twin takedown, Parry, AC 26 for the round.

Different details (hunt prey rather than enter stance, different name for the ranger ability) but very similar effect.

This, Ionic can pull off up to 4 attacks a round and is much more accurate (Flurry ranger reduces penalty to -3 and -6 (or -2/-4 for agile)) when fighting his Prey. It helps a lot.

Ionic, grumbling about 'de damn smoke' and 'cheap tactics' and 'not wantin' ta make dinner,' gives a fancy flip of his dagger to shift his grip as he slides into the smoke and into a flanking position with Salliss.

Ionic drops his axe and draws out his cold iron trident instead. He studies the movement of the dragon as he does so and once the weapon is properly in his grip, he stabs out with it before then pulling back and stabbing again the following up with the clan dagger in his other hand.

Ah, Sorry for the lack of posts, got busy with other things on the boards and then lacked the energy to try getting back into things for a few days.

Ionic glares at the dragon like thing for a moment. Will Save (E) : 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 = 29

He gives a small shiver in fear, but otherwise seems to be unaffected.

He then tries to dodge out of the way of the incoming fire ball after a second. Reflex save (M): 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 15 + 1 = 29 I can't remember the ability name, but like Salliss, Rangers get an ability that upgrades successful reflex saves vs. damaging effects to crits successes.

He avoids the ball of fire and then gives a growl in response. "These things are going down and going down quickly!"

He then dashes forwards, his new boots and training helping him to close the distance and get into a good position to possibly help Salliss next turn with some flanking.

Ionic steps out of the tent and looks at the assembled underling pathfinders. He points out 5 of them with either swords and axes or torches and bombs and gestures for them to come closer. At the spot of the vines, Ionic and his team start to cut and immediately sear the vines in two-man teams hoping to keep them back long enough to destroy whatever they protect.

My best options would be Mission 3: Poles (Athletics +17; though I know Bardyth has me beat) and Mission 4: Vines (Nature +14)

Other options are Mission 9: Signature (Survival +12), Mission 8: Beasts (Medicine +12), and Mission 6: Lights (Religion +12).

I feel that we probably don't need to close that many places to get a success here. Either that or the DC is low and crits are moderately easy or there's a second round of rolls after something happens. Otherwise this skill challenge would be hard to complete. This is pure speculation though.

Ionic moves back up to Dreng and tries to trip him again. He mouths something along the lines of "Bloody spirit flying outta reach. Can't fight fair. Leaves all de dirty work to underlines. Gozreh blighted mother-f-" Luckily, the silence effect makes it so his words can't actually be heard.

Trip, Master Athletics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 And seeing that the spirit won't engage him in a way he can handle, Ionic instead marks Dreng as his prey and readies to start flurrying non-lethal strikes. It takes him a long moment to realize that the fight has actually concluded and he nearly tripped someone who wasn't actually fighting anymore. He gives a sheepish look and plops down in the bowl and watches the vision and people move about but not engaging too much, just preparing for the next mission and hunting down those anchors.

It sounds like it will A) Severely weaken the enemy and B) allow us to save Dreng without him likely dying from the spirit's actions. I am more than for spending the points.
