I hope its not the last of this gang! I know I had a blast. Indrick would proceed to offer whatever help he could in carrying the loot out. When King Fatmouth brought out his own little hoard of treasure, he couldn't help but smile lopsided at the little fellow. "Again, we must thank you for your generosity," Indrick replied with a small bow. "Truly, you have been the greatest tribe of goblins one could ever hope to meet. Just... Just be careful and don't attack other towns too fiercely. It would be a shame to see something bad happen to you all." It was doubtful if they'd listen to an outright lecture to not attack any towns, but he hoped this would give them a small something to think about...

"Ha! We did it!" Indrick couldn't help but laugh. Imagine! Taking down a dragon! There were going to be some tales to tell in Riddleport when he returned! Despite the tempting lure of the treasure beyond, the bard moved in to lean curiously over the fallen half-orc. "Is he still alive?" Indrick asked, frowning.

Even though he knew that they were to face a dragon, Indrick couldn't help by pale when the thing launched itself into view. Poor fake-Tochi never had a chance! "A dragon!" Indrick half-laughed, half-sang despite his fear. "This will make a heck of a tale!" Inspire courage. You know the drill.

Ah Sefyr, you have me all figured out! Indrick shrugged. "Got a couple things, actually. I can make images and sounds... Making a ghost Tochi shouldn't be too hard to draw its attention. So! I suppose I'll get things started then!" Without waiting for any encouragement or further input for the party, Indrick whispered a few arcane words, and along the southern end of the room the sounds of armor and the heavy trod of boots sprung to echo around the large room. Moments later, an illusion of Tochi came to life, walking down the room with an almost careless swagger, as if unconcerned of the threat of danger. Will to disbelieve the spell is DC 13 for the Ghost Sound and DC 14 for the Silent Image (on interaction).

"That's a rather impolite notion, don't you think?" Indrick frowned, the humor of the joke utterly lost on him. "After all, they've been quite hospitable. I know you dislike goblins, but..." he let the sentence trail off with a frown and shrug. "I think that plan could work," Indrick added, hastily switching his focus from the monk's joke to Sefyr's plan. "It might be better if someone quieter went up to it, though. Maybe. Just because he'll be invisible doesn't mean he'll be silent." A pause. "Althouuuuugh.... I could perhaps conjure up a few distractions... I know a few magic tricks for that sort of thing."

Was hoping to answer Baris' question about dragons being able to see invisibility, but I'm pretty sure offhand that they can't. So you got my answer already, thanks! Indrick frowned, trying to remember the information he had either heard or read about regarding dragons. "Well," he began. "I'm pretty sure they can't see an invisible person, unless they have some kind of see invisibility spell on them... which is unlikely." Another pause, as he bit his lip and furrowed his brow in concentration. "That scribble had something about its breath bringing death. I know that dragons come in different colors, and they have different kinds of breath... I think black dragons had acid breath of some kind? That's pretty deadly and horribly nasty even in not-deadly situations."

Ah! Skeletons! UNHAPPY skeletons! Despite the initial moment of panic at the new assailants, Indrick managed to conjure up a spell, the ground beneath two of the skeletons suddenly coated in a slick greasy substance. Grease time! DC 14 Reflex to not fall prone.

Honestly, watching the goblins play with and squabbling over their little dragon toy... It made Indrick think of home. Heavens knew he and his siblings had fought over toys like that when they were kids. He couldn't help but laugh quietly at the scene. He completely lost track of the time, and was only aware of how much time had passed when king Fatmouth spoke. "Oh... Well, we have another reason to give thanks to your generous hospitality." He stayed up a little while after the goblins fell asleep. So much for their guard, but then again: Goblins. He doubted vigilance and patience were traits they possessed in abundance. Still, he drifted off easily enough. Baris seemed like he was vigilant enough. If you get to Indrick's pack, he's got a whole lot of nothing.

If you would be so kind as to move Indrick in closer, I would be most appreciative. One would never expect to feel relief at the sight of a tribe of globlins, yet never theless Indrick was pleased to see them. Despite what his companions had warned, they certainly had seemed friendly enough. Breaking into a broad grin was far easier to force this time around as Indrick stepped forward to greet the goblins. "King Fatmouth!" he exclaimed with an only partially false ring of cheer. "We have indeed returned with your toy dragon! We had to fight several terrible monsters, but as you can see, victory favored us on this day!" Not having the toy personally, he motioned for it to be brought forward for the goblins.

Talked with a buddy who's run most of Carrion Crown, and have decided that while cleric is probably the better option mechanically.... druids are pretty rad too. So I'll be running a druid (archetype pending, if any), unless you folks would prefer I run a cleric. I'm pretty easy on filling in role gaps, so it won't be a huge issue, honestly.

Much as I'd love to continue with Indrick, Ustalav is scary! No way he's going there! As for what to make, I'll see what everyone else is making before settling on my idea. Thinking of a Kellid druid, barbarian, or ranger. I'll fill in any needed role, though.

"It's good eating in some regions, if I recall correctly," Indrick mused. Pity he didn't have much of a way to cut up or transport the meat. He was curious about the taste. Sitting back on his heels, he let the others do their work. As the cleric dove into the water, he quietly conjured up four little dancing balls of light of his own, directing them to float down into the water for further illumination. It wouldn't last too terribly long, but it would at least help.

With the others moving in to methodically take care of the treasure and dead crab-thing, Indrick felt... A bit useless. Hovering over Wilhelmina, he peered at the creature. "Dunno. Could be edible?" Bardic knowledge: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Indrick rushed into the next room at the sounds of pitched battle... Only to stop when he was greeted with the messy scene before him. Perhaps it would be wiser to hang back here on dry land. "Come, my friends!" Indrick cheered as if he were to begin singing a grand ballad. "We can defeat this monster!" Inspire courage is inspiring! I would so be down for continuing the group. I can't speak for the others, but I am having a blast. In terms of continuation, I'm game for any module. In terms of APs, however, I'm a bit limited. I've played through Curse of the Crimson Throne all the way through-- I can play it and play dumb if need be, though. And I'm currently in a Second Darkness campaign and may be in a Legacy of Fire one soon. I've played a bit of Runelords and Kingmaker, but not enough to seriously affect a new game.

"Hm? What's this?" Indrick poked his head around the corner, curious to see the graffiti along the walls. The monk and the wizard had managed to head down that way first (no surprise there), and the lack of immediate unpleasant noises was enough to convince the bard that it was more or less safe. He blinked at the obelisk, but the chalk scrwal was what got his attention. "I, for one, vote that we heed the graffiti author." Wyrms with murderous breath? Not the kind of thing he was keen at looking into. Nope. No sir.

With the closing in of his allies on the spider, Indrick's use as a bowman was pretty much as useless as it was to begin with. And what little magic he knew would be rather useless at this particular moment as well. That only left singing. Singing something INSPIRING. Almost as soon as the idea hit, Indrick found himself chanting a favorite Dwarven drinking song of his. Though he wasn't sure if any of the others knew the words, the boldly upbeat tune was sure to lift some of their spirits. Inspire Courage: +1 to attack & damage, as well as to saving throws.

Before he could argue his way out of being the test subject of the mysterious gem with the booming voice, Baris leapt into action. When the jets of fire erupted, Indrick had a reaction very unlike that of the fighter: he simply yelped and jumped away from the scorching bursts of flame. Luckily, matters were quick to settle down, allowing Indrick to cautiously peek out. "Er..." No. No, he wasn't going to say anything.

"Nominate?" Indrick asked, staring at the cleric in bafflement. "Why?" He had jumped slightly when enterig the room, surprised by the booming voice like everyone else. While he did admit the gem was a tempting prize, caution told him that he may be happiest if he just avoided the damned thing. Mysterious magic items made him nervous, and he had little desire to set one off the wrong way...

Easy, easy. Indrick's song seemed to have a positive effect upon the goblins, but his comrades and their mutterings were making this a delicate situation. He had to act fast and try to regain control. "Forgive my friends," Indrick said hastily. "They are overcautious. Not all goblins are as generous as you are." He paused briefly before continuing. Should he tell the goblins of the Black Fang? "Ah, yes. Is this Black Fang the big mean thing you spoke of? I, for one, would be interested to inquire about your dragon toy."

He did not expect their little lie to go so well. Even as the halfling hissed angrily at him, Indrick managed to maintain his smile as the goblin burst into... well, it wasn't the worst song he had heard, but it was mighty close. "Well sung, my little friend!" Indrick even managed to applaud. Every effort counts, right? They seemed mighty pleased by it, at the very least. "I am sure it brings terror to all your foes!" Terror to one's eardrums, more like. As the goblin king demanded a song from him, Indrick made a slight bow, taking a half-step forward. He shot Baris a look, hoping that he could buy enough time so that the others could move into position should things turn ugly. "A song of war? Well, I am no master in war songs, but this one may suit your fancy..." Perform (Sing): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 "♪Our land is brave
For on the edge of our great land,
Ho! Noble patriot,
It was not a song Indrick knew very well. He had to improvise on a few points of the song, stumbling ever so slightly on the lyrics of the old crusader song half-remembered from a particularly heavy night of drinking. It seemed to fit together well enough. But would the goblins enjoy it? That was the immediate question that concerned him.

Indrick couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the others' eagerness to have him sing. "Uh, right then." At Baris' quiet request for a song to Erastil, Indrick pulled a face but nodded regardless. Riiiiight. Erastil wasn't the sort of god who invoked a lot of songs, but he could probably improvise something on the fly. Probably. The charge was.... not quite a success. In some ways it was, as the goblins were, in fact, quite surprised. Indrick couldn't help but be surprised himself, as he watched Sefyr tumble to the ground in front of his eyes. Ouch. That had to hurt the ego, if nothing else. He was quick to regain his senses, if nothing else. Hard to miss that if you had a self-proclaimed goblin lord screeching at you. "We..." he began, hastily trying to think of a plausible lie. "Well, we are adventurers of sorts! I am a great collector of songs," Which was, in fact, something of a truth. "I have heard that you and your... Fatmouth Tribe, I believe? Well, if rumor has it, I am to believe that your tribe has some of the greatest goblin songs in the region." Indrick proceeded to flash his most winning of smiles. "I am most interested in learning a few of them, your great goblin-ness. Sir." Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Edit because posts "Of course," he added hastily as the cleric spun a tale of her own, "As my lovely friend here has pointed out, I would be more than pleased to give you a demonstration of my musical talents as proof."

"Me?" Indrick blinked, surprised at the question. "Erm, I can sing. I also know a few magic tricks, if that would help any..." While the magic could possibly be of use to the impeding trike on the arguing goblins, Indrick wasn't exactly sure how singing of all things would be of any help. Maybe to lift spirits or provide an annoying distraction, but he didn't know if he could apply it to any real practical use. "Shall I sing us a merry tune to keep our spirits armored against the wicked beasties?"

Much as he loathed to be parted with the small stash of coins and the ruby, Indrick was even less eager to cause any strife within the group. Besides, Tochi seemed an honest enough person. And so, with a slightly saddened look. The bard deposited the goods into the taller man's bag. "Careful with the potion," he warned. Did Indrick know what was in it? No. But it could be useful down the road. Once that was all said and done, he pulled out his shortbow once again as he slipped quietly ahead with the rest of the group. Indrick perked up at the glint of metal beneath the chest. "Ah!" What luck! Perhaps this was a signal of good things to come? Maybe? Holy heck you guys are fast posters. I apologize for not being able to keep up at work today. The exchange of battle was initiated and completed by the time Indrick (caught completely off-guard by the pack of screeching goblins) could even snap into a proper reaction. By the time the startled man had managed to get his wits together long enough to grab his bow and nock an arrow, the battle was over and the surviving goblins were fleeing and vanishing into the surrounding forest. ...Oh. Well. A brief flush of shame colored the man's cheeks, but he was quick to compose himself afterwards. It was all for the best, probably. These folks seemed trained, whereas he'd never seen anything worse than a barroom brawl. "Um..." What in the name of all that was good and holy DID someone say after killing and terrifying a pack of goblins? "Good.... good job, folks?" Eh. It would do. Carefully picking his way around the gory mess their fight had caused, Indrick apprehensively escorted the others into the cavern. His attention was fast to focus on the chest within the room, and the tall fighter's question in regards to opening it made Indrick venture closer. "Pity my sister's not here. She knows her way around a lock." Curiously, he pushed at the lid, checking to see if it really was locked in the first place...

"Gold and glory, huh? Well, seems I found the right place after all." A smallish plain-looking man with short disheveled brown hair and equally rumpled clothing had managed to meander his way along the edge of the loose gathering of would-be adventurers. His features were split into a broad, friendly grin. His right hand clutched a crumpled copy of the bounty, which he waved in a lazy salute towards the gathered lot. "Indrick. A pleasure to meet you all, gentlemen and ladies alike." Briefly, he glanced over the others present. Interesting. Very interesting. He was certainly no expert in adventures (beyond the songs and tales, of course), but this gathering seemed to be a good one. Lots of armored folks and weapons. Good. That would give him an excuse to not get involved any more than was absolutely necessary. Heroism wasn't for him; all he wanted was the reward. After he had acquired a satisfactory visual assessment of those assembled, his attention went to the old statue. "Huh," he muttered quietly. "Would you look at that." Scuttling around the others, he moved in to get a better look at the worn old statue while trying not to appear too rude in doing so. Curious as he was to get to make the acquaintances of the (hopefully) merry little band, the sight of an ancient statue in the middle of the boonies was equally intriguing. "Wonder what this old thing's doing out here in the middle of nowhere? Odd place to put a statue, wouldn't you think?" |
