I'm running Core Thornkeep for some mostly new players and was wondering what some good scenarios to run for the level they need to get outside of Thornkeep would be. They'll be roughly level 5 at that point, so anything in the 3-7/5-9 range would be good. Ideally, I'd like some scenarios that open up some non-core things but scenarios that are just good in general would work just as well. The party consists of a half-elf bard, a dwarven cleric of Torag, a human fighter with greatsword, an elf evoker and a rogue of I forgot what race. So far the only scenario I can think of is In Wrath's Shadow for the Acrimony Veil for the evoker. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
So I had an issue come up in my last pfs game with sundering. Character with improved sunder broke a magic headband, but we had no idea how many hit points it had to know how much damage bled into the enemy with it. Is there a list anywhere of how many hit points magic items like headbands and such have?
I had a few questions that came up in my running of Golemworks Incident today and if I made the correct ruling. 1) Can a player have multiple Spiritual Weapons out at once? It doesn't say that you can't (which I dislike as a reason) but it doesn't say you can either. I allowed it at the time since there was nothing saying it couldn't be done. 2) Character that had the Spiritual Weapons out then got hit with feeblemind and failed the save. Since she couldn't communicate effectively, I ruled that she couldn't redirect the weapons to keep hitting the BBEG. Even with the effects of feeblemind, would she still have been able to use her move actions to move the hammers or does she need to be able to effectively communicate for that? Thanks
I recall someone organizing a miniatures trading thing at the end of the con in the past, but I haven't seen anything about it this year. Whether or not it's happening again this year, I figured I could start a thread for anyone interested. Doesn't need to be anything organized, though there's plenty of time for it. Feel free to post if you're looking for anything specific
I know this probably isn't the right place to ask, but I already asked on the advice boards and didn't get any help. I have an idea for an oracle that goes into the hellknight signifier PrC. I'm planning on going dual cursed with tongues and legalistic (progressing), I just don't know what mystery to take. I'm currently leaning towards spellscar. Does anyone have any other suggestions (on mystery or on my choice of going oracle) or should this work out just fine? Thanks.
I'm thinking of making a hellknight signifier for PFS (as I'm sure you figured out from the title). I would prefer him being a buffer/debuffer. My current thought for it is an oracle since I'm not a huge fan of Asmodeus's domains and the feat tax for a wizard just seems too much. I'm just really torn on what mystery to take. Spellscar seems interesting and I like the dispell bonuses you can get with it which would also go well with the elucidation option for assiduous gaze. Time could also be interesting. Does anyone have any suggestions for mysteries or any other ideas on how to build a hellknight signifier?
Which would be better for a barbarian 1/Brawler the rest, an amulet of mighty fists with the furious enchantment or the Braid of a Hundred Masters? The braid and the monk's robe would put him at +7 levels for his unarmed damage. I don't have the build for him on me right now, but I can post them if needed.
I've got a level 7 divine hunter in PFS that I had a couple questions about. 1) For his level 9 and 11 feats (assuming he lives that long) I had been planning on taking weapon focus (long bow) and improved precise shot, but then I found out about ultimate mercy. Which would be better to take? I can see the benefits of both, but is ultimate mercy really worth it to take? 2) Would holy or lesser designating be better for his bow (currently a +1 comp long bow w/+2 str)? Thanks in advance for any help
I GMed my first PFS game last night and had a quick clarification question for my chronicle sheet. Do I have to apply it to a character in the tier that it was played at or do I pick which tier the character it will be applied to falls into? In case this is phrased oddly, I ran Storming the Diamond Gate at the 3-4 tier, would I have to apply it to a character in that tier (or a level 5 character) or could I choose the higher tier to apply it to a 6th or 7th level character of mine? Thanks
I was thinking of making a character for PFS kinda modeled after Liam Neeson's character in Taken or the two spies from the "Hunt" episode of Castle. I'm debating between an urban ranger or an inquisitor for it right now. The inquisitor has more of the investigative feel but the ranger can kinda get that with the urban ranger archetype and has more of the combat feel to him. The ranger would also work better for being able to do some ranged when needed before switching to being mostly melee. Would one of these work better than the other? Or something else entirely that I'm missing?
I have a couple quick questions regarding the bladebound magus since I just got my black blade. This is for pfs, so that might influence the answers. 1. can you enchant it as normal for a magic weapon or does it work some other way?
I think that's it for now. thanks in advance for the help.
I'm working on making a Cheliaxian summoner for PFS whose eidolon takes the shape of a devil. My original idea was for it to look like a chain devil, but then I found out those are more of Zon-Kuthon's thing than Asmodeus's. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this idea work effectively?
I'm starting a RotRL campaign with my brother and a few of his friends who don't have much experience. Current party is a rogue, druid and cleric of nethys with me playing the front line guy. I'm a little torn on what to play for the front line guy though. I don't want to steal the spot light from the new players. Right now I'm debating between a THW using a weapon with reach and tripping everything or a TWF (something I've never done before) with a level of ranger or two of barbarian. Stats were rolled and I got 12, 17, 14, 12, 11, 17 which can be placed however. Books are limited to Core and APG. Any thoughts? And please avoid spoilers. So far all I know is lots of goblins in the first book, giants later on in a different book.
Subject may sound slightly confusing, but my questions aren't. And as to campaign, we're in the second to last (I think) book of Jade Regent, so try to avoid spoilers in answering either question. First. Planning on taking critical focus and another crit feat on my next level. I'm leaning between bleeding critical and staggering critical. Which would be better over all? Second. My rhino (well, arsiniotherium but that's just a pain to say) mount (beast rider samurai [DM allowed it since I started as a cavalier and later had the option of switching to samurai]order of the seal) just died and I'll probably be getting a tiger as my next mount. What feats would you suggest for said tiger? Right now all I can think of are weapon focus, improved natural attack and armor prof light and medium so I can give him some rhino hide for that lovely 2d6 on a charge and pounce. Is that worth the feat investment? Are there better feats out there that I'm missing? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
I just started playing an Order of the Seal beast rider archetype cavalier in Jade Regent and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what animal I should go after as my mount. I know which would probably be the most powerful or useful, I'm more after what would be more flavorful for the Order of the Seal with the free trips and bull rushes on full attacks. If that makes any sense.
I was looking at the low templar PrC the other day and its 10th level ability caught my eye. Mostly the part of getting an extra planar cohort who's alignment matches your own with a level equivalent of the templar's class level -1 (assuming you have leadership and replaced your previous cohort). What would be the better extra planar cohorts you could gain from this?
I was looking over the Titan Mauler and was wondering what weapon would work best for their third level ability of reducing the penalty for using weapons larger than they are. Starting with just a large weapon, it looks like a bastard sword (or anything with a d10) has an average damage increase of 3.5. Based on this, it looks like the nodachi would be the best weapon to run around with since it has an 18-20 crit. Is there anything that'd be better?
I was bored at work tonight and after reading a post on how TWF rogues are hard to pull off I decided to see if a TWF barbarian is viable. Why? First, because I could and secondly, greater beast totem gives pounce, so full attacks pretty much all the time. It's probably not anything I would play with from level 1 since it takes a LONG time to come together though. Using 20 point buy
Assuming 2 +2 furious whatever weapon you went with, a +4 str belt and gloves of dueling, always using power attack and reckless abandon (and that my math is correct), that should give you a main hand attack of +23/+18/+13 at 1d8+21/17-20x3 (or 15-20x2 with the katana) and +23/+18 1d8+18/17-20x3(15-20x2 katana). The damage goes up by 7 when you use Raging Brutality. Thoughts? Is my math horribly screwed up?
Was thinking of ideas for a backup character in case my invulnerable barbarian dies and here's what I came up with. 20 point buy, will probably be lvl 10 when I start using him. Human Dragon Cavalier
Human bonus- Two Weapon Fighting
Plan is to ride around stabbing things with a lance when I can, and when I can't walk around and hack things in the face. I'm not sure what weapon to use for the TWF, though I would prefer it being the same weapon so I don't have to take WF and improved crit twice. I'm also not sure if I'm missing any useful two weapon fighting feats as I've never made a TWF. Would it be useful to take a few levels of fighter for some extra feats and the first armor training?
Are the druid animal shaman variants worth taking? They seem kind of powerful at low levels when they get their wild shape and can turn into huge animals (of their tupe). There's an older thread somewhere in the archives kinda on this, but it didn't go into too much. Basic summary of it was bear shamans are ok, bird can be awesome casters, lion if you want to be in melee, serpent sucks and wolf is ok.
I'm currently playing a half-orc invulnerable barbarian in Karui Kage's Kingmaker campaign and had a couple questions regarding his later progression. We're almost 9th level, his 9th and 11th level feats are going to be extra rage power (improved DR). Current plan right now is taking indomitable prowess and then dreadful carnage at 13th and 15th levels, respectively. And now for the questions.
Current feats and rage powers are: weapon focus (great axe), power attack, raging vitality and furious focus; guarded life, elemental rage, reckless abandon and improved DR. Thanks |
