![]() The only thing that came to my mind while we we've been fighting it was that the HP for both ships could probably safely be halved. But since this is my first proper ship combat, I have no idea what other problems that might cause. More importantly, I'm not sure if you could make a change like that in Society play. Though I do have to say, you've been doing an amazing job of keeping us chugging through the rounds bigboom. I'll be stealing your format when I run one of these. :> ![]()

![]() This fight is really long, with 6 rounds we only chipped off 22 HP! Without missiles its going to go for another 20 rounds or more at this rate. Piloting, Maneuver, Computer bonus +1: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 = 18 Hirix brings the Drake in tight around the cluster of asteroids, following on the tail of the Honorbound. As she approaches the other ship, she turns the nose of the Drake right up against the enemy's starboard side! Don't have map access to make changes until this evening, but the desired move is (using cardinal directions): NE, E, E, SE, SW, SE. This should leave the Drake pointed directly at the Honorbound, one hex to its NW. ![]()

![]() Hirix reverses the thrusters, decelerating the ship and turning its nose to face directly at the Honorbound. Turn in place 'stunt', which apparently doesn't need a skill check. I don't have any cool ideas other than "throw the exploding asteroids at them", and I can't imagine how that'd work, so I'm sticking to the safe option. :> "I figure they've got to be flagging after those shots to their front. We keep it up, give them a chance to surrender over comms." ![]()

![]() Question about starship movement: The Honorbound's movement this round started with:
I assume based on the other movement this round, the Honorbound succeeded on their maneuver check, which reduced their distance before turning to 1. But I don't see how it managed to reduce it to 0 to get that first turn in. The only thing I can think of is that straight distance from previous rounds counts towards your minimum straight distance before a turn. Is that right? ![]()

![]() This is a bit of a weird move. I'm trying to work out which position best shields our sides and sets us up to point the nose of the Drake at the Honorbound next round. If anyone has any ideas in future rounds before I can move, feel free to throw them my way :> Hirix tries to anticipate possible trajectories for the Honorbound and ends up taking the Drake into cover behind a trio of asteroids. ![]() Still queasy from that mangled loop just moments ago, Hirix sends to her crew "Alright, alright, no more tricky stuff. This rig's going to keep on the straight and narrow from now on." Piloting, Evade Stunt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Hirix deftly guides the Drake through the asteroid field in a wide arc, taking advantage of the cover of the asteroids all the way until the ship is head to head with the Honorbound. "Alright kid, you've got your shot, don't screw this up." her mental voice rings in Lucas and Kali's heads. |
