![]() Programming is absolutely a form of technical writing. As such, it has an internal jargon, and common words or abbreviations may not have the common meaning. One of the first rules new programmers learn through pain is that you can't assume anything about what the customer means, you have to work with them to ensure you build a common understanding despite having different vocabularies. ![]()

![]() The young man stands there, shaking his head as he watches the group scatter, knowing how little light is available, but also knowing he can't go with everyone at the same time. No reason to trust the Aiel enough to be alone with him, though, so he steps toward Navarre and Lazar. ![]()

![]() Mumbling to himself about being the lantern bearer, the easiest target, in a house of horrors, Garl moves with the others, doing his best to make sure they can see. Whether he wants to think about it in detail again or not, he's already accepted that his bow is the least useful weapon in the group inside this house, and he's avoiding breaking the peacebonds on his others unless he really needs to. ![]()

![]() Looking at the light source, and then back to Jak. "We've seen at least 2 things so far that aren't books which might be highly prized. Don't confuse The Book as being the only thing here that someone might want." Perception as we begin The Search: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 ![]()

![]() "This is . . . unusual. I don't see any sign that there was someone here for him to struggle with, but the scuff marks look like he was struggling by himself, anyway? It is possible he had an opponent, but feet that light through a fight? I've never seen the like." He looks sideways at Ceirn. "A barred door isn't that unusual if you are home alone in a dangerous place or trying to protect something valuable. But they aren't common, either, not in homes or simple shops, at least, not in my experience." ![]()

![]() Still in the back of the group, standing in a small hallway, Garl really doesn't have much of an idea what the rest are looking at, or why they've stopped. "What do you mean no doors? There's got to be a door. A mirror to go with the light? Try reflecting the light around, maybe?" ![]()

![]() Holding such an unwieldy weapon as his bow, Garl is happy to take rearguard as the team moves further into the building. He spends almost as much effort looking for something to pick up to use as a club as he does watching for any nasty surprises. No, the pottery won't let me strike twice. Bench is too big . . .. ![]()

![]() Shaking his head, confused about how much stealth could be possible after landing on the rooftop, Garl doesn't crouch or slink, but he does step quietly while he looks for the way down. This wouldn't be set up as a patio without a convenient way to get to it, right? Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 ![]()

![]() So, generic posting of warning. My wife reports for surgery in roughly 12 hours. Her surgeon has asked me to take 2 weeks from work to be at home to provide assistance. That will also mean corralling the two grandchildren, keeping them entertained and fed while their Mom works, and keeping them out of Grandma's hair. Can't say that I'm positive what my posting habits will be like until I can return to my normal schedule. Thank you for your understanding, and go kill something evil, will ya? ![]()

: facepalm : Garl allows them to peace bond his sword without comment. He doesn't hid the handaxe, but doesn't offer it, waiting to see if they include it in the category of blades or not. If they do, he doesn't fight them bonding it also. As the townsman displays his lack of both moral strength and imagination, Garl fails his mother a little, and reacts rather than walking away. "I may have been kissing the goat, but your mother was working the other end!" He did NOT wait for a response, but left before the local decided to test his peace bonds. Not Garl's finest moment, and he feels guilty for succumbing to the urge almost immediately. When they reached Jair's Publisher, Garl is too focused on thinking about how he should have walked away pleasantly instead of goading the local to properly examine the area. ![]()

![]() "Fairly well governed and protected means that the evil men do is better hidden, not absent. It can mean that some pay for the right to misbehave. It can mean that those caught pay dearly for their choices. The one thing it never means, though, is that the common people are actually safe from the abuses of others." ![]()

![]() "You seem to have a strong opinion about this. What if you're wrong, though, and it isn't the quick walk in and out you have envisioned. I mean, did you envision what we found here? I certainly didn't." Especially given the GMs comments, I don't have FOMO, but the characters certainly still can!
