I'm here! Under the guise of another beloved character, at least.

Man. It says "inactive" now. I can't believe it's over.

Many thanks to Nathan again for running this and tolerating our hijinks!

Gaevus cheers, and goes off to tell tales of the day's achievements, flamboyantly acting and dancing to his own stories.

Day Job (Perform (Dance)): 10 + 15 = 25
(Taking 10 for 25, now that we are finally no longer threatened!)

Boons: Gaevus will take the Combat and Resilience boons.

Note: Gaevus will be Level 11 after this adventure (currently normal track), and will slow track whatever is necessary to make sure that he converges with everyone else for XP.

"We did it! We got the Sky Key back safely!" Gaevus points to whomever is holding it--it most certainly should not be he.

Regarding the boon: but mine's a crit threat!

"Are we letting them go? ... Are you guys going? Maybe you should go before the snakeman kills you...." If the plan is to let them go, Gaevus will back up a little and delay.

"What's the plan to get the Sky Key now? Or are we just going to stay here and protect it until the bigwigs arrive?"

If they look like they are going to attack Ksarress, Gaevus will take a 5 foot step and full attack, though I can't promise Gaevus won't get Wisdom damaged to unconsciousness.

Gaevus looks utterly flummoxed by what the proteans' confusing conversation. He's momentarily shaken from his stupor by the reinvigorating clap of Max's hand on his back. With a positive strength modifier, Max almost knocks Gaevus's precious blue felt cap off of his head!

"Thanks, Max!" Gaevus rights his hat and fixes his hair. "You're the best. I don't say that as often as I should!" He grins and turns back to the elemental. "I'll try not to get hit next time!"
HP: 40/79

Does it look like the summoning circle is still doing wacky things with the Sky Key, or does it look like it's settled down?

Liberty's Edge

Gaevus parries the first slam, and ripostes with the sharpest slash he can muster!
Parry: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38 vs. GE's first slam
Riposte: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (8) + 25 = 33 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 6 + (6) = 30 total damage (24 magic slashing, 6 sonic) (max damage!)

"Aha!" he boasts, letting his guard down briefly, allowing the elemental's second slam to bop him right on the head. "Oof!" He puts his buckler hand to his head. "My plume!" he frets.
HP: 17/79

"Um, where are you guys going?" he asks the pair of proteans. "Didn't we convince you to go home?"
I guess Gaevus won't take any attacks of opportunity, hoping that the proteans will just leave?

"That sounds good! Go where you want! Be free! All of us here love being free!" Gaevus waves them on encouragingly while looking worriedly over at Ksarress. Hopefully Ksarress won't start smiting law....

Gaevus will keep trying to Aid Another for a +4 to Diplomacy.

"Do you guys plan on going home or staying here....?"

Gaevus is all for letting them go, unless they seemed to want to do harm. He'd be a little worried that they might cause harm if they stick around in the Pathfinder Lodge (given all the crazy stuff that's happened so far!), but if they want to go back to Protean-land, then Gaevus is all for permitting them to be free.

Also, they're going to let us take the Sky Key!

Liberty's Edge

Oh, sorry, I didn't see that the lightning formed a new elemental--I thought it formed into the protean.

Gaevus, looking up, sees the new elemental threat. He steps around the pillar (assuming that it's not a hard corner) and, tapping his Boots (1 round remaining), slashes thrice at the new threat.
Full Attack (main): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 + (1) = 22 total damage (21 magic slashing, 1 sonic)
Augh, why can't you crit elementals?

Full Attack (haste): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 6 + (4) = 26 total damage (22 magic slashing, 4 sonic)

Full Attack (iterative): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33 vs. GE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 6 + (3) = 26 total damage (23 magic slashing, 3 sonic)

Yelling back toward the protean voices, Gaevus says, "I like all those things too! Perhaps we can be friends? ... Just don't worry so much about the frowning snakeman, he doesn't like any of those, but he's still all right, I promise!"
Aid Another (Diplomacy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 vs. DC 10 to give aid someone else's Diplomacy check by +4

@GM: Gaevus plans to parry the elemental if it strikes at him. Should I roll that now, or wait until it attacks like we have traditionally?

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 5 / Lore Warden 3 / Exemplar 2 | Max HP 79 | Init +14 | AC 29, Touch 21, FF 21 | CMD 28+ | Fort +13, Ref +20, Will +7

"If they don't want the Sky Key, maybe I should help move it? I'm not so good at pulling myself, but maybe I could help jimmy it free?" Gaevus looks uncertain as to how to proceed, especially since it seems like the party doesn't want him to murdernate the weird creature.

If there appears to be no threat, and Ivan tries to move the Sky Key again, he will attempt to aid Ivan. If the protean looks threatening or anything else comes out, he will instead attack that threat. (My intention is to delay until just before Fetch, so I know what's going on, and possibly to not waste actions if Diplomacy saves the day!)

If Ivan tries to move the Sky Key and accepts Gaevus's help:

Helpful Aid Another (Strength): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2 vs. DC 10 to add +4 to Ivan's Strength check
Gaevus's sausage fingers slip on the Sky Key, and he almost gets a finger stuck in it, just like in the devices in the Mausoleum earlier in the day....

Is there some kind of knowledge check to know how to separate the Sky Key from this place? Knowledge (geography), perhaps? ^-^'

Liberty's Edge

Gaevus swings at the elemental as it flees, a bit surprised that something so large could be frightened.
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41 vs. ELE's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 + (3) = 24 total damage (21 magic slashing, 3 sonic)

The slice seems to do even less damage than he would hope. Nonetheless, he shouts back to Max, "Party on!" XD

(Gaevus will likely full attack the remaining elemental next round, unless another threat reappears, or someone thinks up a better plan, like helping with Ivan's Strength check. I will be absent for part of tonight.)

@Fetch: This is one of those rare times where Aid Another makes no sense. Gaevus can barely lift 12 pounds without being encumbered, but if he uses the Helpful Aid Another to give a +4, he helps Ivan move an extra 75%--another 14 tons, or at least an elephant or two.

"Did the magic work on the lightning jerk?" (Gaevus's Sense Motive probably isn't high enough to know.) "If so, he's mine!"

Gaevus will take an attack of opportunity against the lightning monster if it tries to flee. (If it withdraws, he won't be able to.)

Either of those sound good! We'll have to wait until next turn though, right?

Anyway, I think we're nearing the end, so this is probably the time to spend those big spells! I probably should have just tried to parry, haha.

GM:
I forgot that Gaevus has Risky Striker. As such, his AC is 28, but his attacks should have done an extra 12 damage (6 per hit) vs. LE1.

Gaevus gets slammed by twice by the huge lightning elemental, squealing at being made shorter yet again by being hit by an enormous creature. Sadly, though Max's magic protects him from the electricity, it doesn't protect him from being bashed. Maybe next time he'll try to parry....
HP: 19/79
(I didn't check the attack and damage rolls until after I decided I wouldn't parry, as per the rules. Perhaps I should have, because those were some bad attack rolls and good damage rolls! Huge creatures really are hard to parry though....)

(Gaevus usually doesn't use extra panache versus elementals--they don't seem to be as impressed with his critical hits as others are! In other words, he can't get panache back because they're immune to crits. Also, bigger things are harder to parry. It's a -6 to parry a huge creature, like the elder lightning elemental.)

"Uh, I guess I'll take on this littler big one first for the team." He then squints at the huge elemental. "Then I'll take you on, you giant electrojerk!"

Gaevus hastily taps his Boots together (2 rounds remaining) and quickly tries to finish off the last large lightning elemental that remains, before facing the huge one....
All attacks will be made towards LE1. If it goes down, then the remainder will be redirected to ELE. I've dropped precision damage and included Risky Striker damage, which should apply to both, since they're both more than two size categories bigger.

Full Attack (main): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29 vs. LE1's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 6 + (4) = 27 total damage (23 magic slashing, 4 sonic)

Full Attack (haste): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30 vs. OP2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 + (2) = 23 total damage (21 magic slashing, 2 sonic)

Full Attack (iterative): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22 vs. OP2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 + (1) = 22 total damage (21 magic slashing, 1 sonic)

Gaevus will then take a five foot step back to get closer to the party, and Max's reassuring magic circle against evil. Also to get closer to a possible breath of life, should bad things happen....

Current AC -1 unless I count within Max's 10 ft radius, but I think I'm only skirting the corner at 15 ft.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 5 / Lore Warden 3 / Exemplar 2 | Max HP 79 | Init +14 | AC 29, Touch 21, FF 21 | CMD 28+ | Fort +13, Ref +20, Will +7

@GM: What do you mean, "the events that just occurred occurring again?" As in more elementals bursting out of the summoning circle thing?

Technical questions for the GM:

1) Does Gaevus's readied action (attacking the first thing that comes out) also go off? Who does that go against, LE1?
1a) Is Gaevus before the elementals in initiative now?
2) Do any of the elementals provoke when they fly past Gaevus?

Gaevus tries to parry the large lightning ball's attack, and then he ripostes!
Parry: 1d20 + 24 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 24 - 4 = 38 to parry the LE1's attack
Riposte: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36 vs. LE1's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 0 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 0 + (4) = 19 total damage (15 magic slashing, 4 sonic)
(Elementals are immune to precision damage, so I've set that to 0.)

The elemental's second attack hits him with a whoomp, though the electricity damage sizzles away thanks to Max's resist energy spell.

If Gaevus's readied attack goes off:

Readied attack:

Readied attack: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (2) + 24 = 26 vs. ?'s AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 0 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 0 + (5) = 22 total damage (17 magic slashing, 5 sonic)

"Well then, I guess I'll lead the way now that we're magically rubberized!" Gaevus will skirt along the ground without slipping downwards (automatically making the DC 10 Acrobatics check) toward the circle, and ready himself to attack anything that comes out of the circle. It's going to be someone the party doesn't know, and that probably means it's a bad guy!

Sorry about being out of range for _haste_, guys! If you guys have another spell slot to burn (and nothing to do), Gaevus would probably appreciate it, though he does have three rounds of Boots of Speed left.

Gaevus blinks confusedly at Genta. (I did have to read what you said twice!) "Uhh, are you sure? I mean, I can hold onto it, but my buttery fingers aren't the best at holding onto stuff. Sometimes I drop my own food, and I think I dropped my sword once?" Gaevus blinks again. "I'll take it from you if you want though! Just to warn you, I'm going to run at some bad guys though."

@Genta: Gaevus will hold onto the Sky Key if you hand it to him. He has a disarm CMD of 28, but he can hold it in his buckler hand oh no wait that will screw up Slashing Grace and he will be utterly useless. (Well, okay, -9 damage, but otherwise still able to fight.) Perhaps you want to give it to someone responsible and flying like Max? Or maybe a Bag of Holding! (You should totally not do that.)

Gaevus takes a skillful step around the fiery contraption to get closer to his enemy (and his friends) by using the incline to his advantage.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 vs. DC 10 to ignore difficult terrain caused by incline

"Get back over here!" he shouts, tapping his Boots of Speed together (3 rounds remaining), and taking three quick slashes at the enemy who singed his hair. (I assume Gaevus is within 30 feet of Yitza when this goes down, to better take advantage of her Discordant Voice.)

GM:
I will always put the Greater Trip AoO at the end, to be resolved as necessary.

Full Attack (main): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45 vs. R2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 5 + (4) = 24 total damage (15 magic slashing, 5 precision, 4 sonic)
Crit Confirmation (main): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44 vs. R2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 total damage (15 magic slashing)
44 vs. R2's trip CMD to trip via Tripping Strike, and make Greater Trip AoO (see below)

Full Attack (haste): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40 vs. R2's (prone?) AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 5 + (4) = 26 total damage (17 magic slashing, 5 precision, 4 sonic)
Crit Confirmation (haste): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (8) + 26 = 34 vs. R2's (prone?) AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 total damage (17 magic slashing)
Tripping Strike shouldn't apply--either already tripped or not

Full Attack (iterative): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40 vs. R2's (prone?) AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 5 + (1) = 22 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 1 sonic)
Crit Confirmation (iterative): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (13) + 21 = 34 vs. R2's (prone?) AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 total damage (16 magic slashing)
Tripping Strike shouldn't apply--either already tripped or not

Greater Trip AoO, if tripped:

Greater Trip AoO: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (9) + 25 = 34 vs. R2's normal AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 5 + (6) = 29 total damage (18 magic slashing, 5 precision, 6 sonic)

Total damage if all attacks hit + confirm (if R2's prone AC < 34 and trip CMD < 44): 149 damage (114 magic slashing, 20 precision, 15 sonic) over 4 hits (3 crits)

and a panache point:

I think Max would have to get to Gaevus first! In character, if Max asks, Gaevus will suggest that Max cast it on himself, just in case anyone takes a tumble.... Though I guess Ivan can do that too. Also Gaevus thinks this is fun, and is a good chance to show off!

Reflex: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

I'm assuming this happens before Yitza Inspires Courage. Let me know otherwise.

Gaevus will parry his foe's poor attempts to use a rapier!
Parry: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29 vs. R2's first attack

"This is how you do it!"
Riposte: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33 vs. R2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 12 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)

Seeing his foe's fumbling attempts at using a rapier, he will allow the second attack to go unchallenged.

EDIT: This doesn't actually happen, based on the adjustment below, since Gaevus doesn't have step up.

D'you want to roll it? Or is it high enough now that we can assume we're fine? (Or did I miss it somewhere? Hrm.)

Gaevus will open the door, since it sounds like Genta's been seen! (Or heard. Or something!) He'll start walking in, and head towards the nearest enemy, grabbing his Blue Scarf in preparation. "Oy! You! What're you doing here!?"

Did we ever heal back up to full? I didn't realize until now that I'm still marked as hurt.
@Max: Did you burn a channel for the party after the explosive fire hag?

Should we wait for Genta to get back before we start anything crazy?

Gaevus nudges Yitza. "How many more buffy buffs do you have today to spare? Maybe you can help me out...?"

"Ooh! Ooh! Maybe we can climb outside the windows and come back inside in another room? I'm not so good at the climbing, but I can do the hopping if that's okay...."

Gaevus can use Acrobatics, but sort of has a terrible Climb....

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Swashbuckler 5 / Lore Warden 3 / Exemplar 2 | Max HP 79 | Init +14 | AC 29, Touch 21, FF 21 | CMD 28+ | Fort +13, Ref +20, Will +7

"Hm. How do we manage to lock the door with everyone outside then....?" Gaevus pauses. "Or maybe we can't? Would that magical dimension door thing work?"

Liberty's Edge

Gaevus will go back outside and join the group while they wait for Max and Fetch to find them, and does some counting with his fingers. "I hope this doesn't mean that we'll have to leave someone behind in the locked room 8...."

If Gaevus's leaving the room messes up the magic and the group has to start over again, then he'll do so.

I'm glad this worked! I was going to try the door before knocking, but I was actually afraid that it would mess up the magic. Turns out that Gaevus being Gaevus would have won the day!

Liberty's Edge

Gaevus is walking back to the door when Max closes it. "Hey!" Gaevus reaches the door and knocks on the door. "Didja forget about me?"

If he hears Max's voice through the door, he will say, "Lemme back in!" while tapping his foot and looking around until Max does so.

If he does not hear Max's voice through the door, he'll take a step back and look around briefly and confusedly. If nothing appears to have changed in the outside hallway, he will test the door from the outside....

Gaevus walks back into Osprey's room 8, where the others are. "Nothing to report in the other rooms--they all look the same. This magicky one is probably the key...." He feels along the wall with his stubby hands. "A door knob? A keyhole? Hrmmm." He rubs his hairless chin. "Does anyone see a detachable doorknob? Or something that looks like it might be a keyhole of sorts?" He squints again at the wall.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

After a pause, he adds, "Does anyone remember anything special about that Osprey bloke? Did he have a penchant for books and hiding keys in them or something?"

Gaevus pauses again, before walking out side and eyeing the corridor. Does it look like the hallway goes a little too far, as if Room 8 were a little smaller than it should be, and a secret room might lie just beyond?

If the hallway extends farther than Room 8 does:
Gaevus walks back inside. "I think there might be a room beyond this one. I wonder if you magicians can just do your magical teleporty thing to get us in there? Or maybe Ksarress can just break down the wall? I'm not sure how the venture captains would feel about that...."

I figure it's in Gaevus's and my character to throw ideas out there and hope someone can figure out the rest!

Are all the rooms are unlocked?

"Hm." Gaevus looks down again at the registry in his hands. No one else is listed on the registry other than Osprey and the mysteriously reserved missing room, right? Rooms 1-7 seem vacant?

"Maybe the teamwork involved requires us to do something in some of the rooms at the same time...." Gaevus idly walks off, waving mindlessly, as if calling someone to come with him. Someone should probably follow him to make sure he doesn't get in trouble.

Starting with the nearest room (presumably room 7), he knocks politely on the door. If there's no answer, he'll try to open the door, hoping that it's unlocked. He'll take a peek inside, and if the room looks like Osprey's, with nothing interesting in it, he'll move on to the next room, knocking, opening, and peeking inside too.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 to look inside the first unlocked room he encounters

"I... what?" Gaevus appears utterly baffled after being hurried into this strange, magicky, non-sensical place. He starts to look up and down and left and right for doors... hidden in plain sight?
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35

I heard that one of the Tales books set in Cheliax mentions the proper names for Chellish currency, (like how Absalom has copper pennies and silver weights, not just copper and silver pieces).

If anyone can recall offhand what the names for Chellish currency are (copper, silver, gold, and platinum if possible, please), I would greatly appreciate it.

I am sure by now you are all aware of the vile presence that has possessed the true spirit of Season Nine. This being defies all rational thought and seeks solely to consolidate all of the entries for this season's Superstar competition into a mysterious apparatus called "the Nine".

The combined forces of the Technic League, Technical Support, and the Golarion Union of Murderhoboes for the Betterment of Others (GUMBO) have proven no match for the eldritch fury of Season Nine, as it has already stolen control over our voting tags from the prior seasons!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, which is why I, Tech Support, have announced an Open Call of Recruitment for people to combat the incoming menace. Any and all aliases, PFS characters, and other accounts are invited to post below to pledge their support in combating the menace that has possessed Season Nine.

We cannot do this alone, but together we shall prevail!

This is a free-form RP thread to pass the time. Anyone is free to jump in at any time to describe what they do to aid in the attack on Season Nine. Such actions can be anything from declaring your attacks, invoking RPGSS memes on the opponent, gathering items from PRIOR competitions to supply the front line, or even just kicking back with a staff of popcorn making and watching. This is intended to be fun and lighthearted, so play in the spirit one would have in the Joke Items Thread.
The battle will begin with post #51, but please feel free to jump in at any time at all.
The battle will end when the Top 32 are announced.

After seeing several entries with these last year, what are your thoughts on the inclusion of hyperlinks in an entry?

E.g.: This magical slinky of stretchiness gives its bearer the compression monster ability.

Did you find these useful or helpful last year? Were they more of a nuisance? Did mobile users have any difficulties with them?

I've been wondering this for quite a while, but due to the specifics of the question and to avoid upsetting people, I have been asked to spoiler my question.

A Question of Lasting Interest:
"If a paladin falls from Glory, does he land prone?"

On the edge of life and death, between winter and spring, there is a holiday of hallowed halls held here. To some it is known as the Day of Bones, the time when those looked upon by Pharasma celebrate their profession and the transitory nature of life. Join us Saturday, March 1st, 2014 for Online VTT Gameday 3 – Day of Bones, and see if you can keep one foot out of the grave and delay your travels upon the Infinite Staircase. A priceless manuscript has gone missing from the Pathfinder lodge in Almas, and the Pathfinder Society has traced its current whereabouts to a remote monastery off the coast of southwestern Nex. Arriving at the Monastery of the Unremitting Tide, the PCs face the suspicious scholars who study there, and in the process risk enraging an ancient spirit and uncovering a long-lost secret that, more than possibly costing them the stolen manuscript, could cost them their very lives.

If it is at all possible, could my alias used to post here please be changed from "Lysander Spurius Dragomir" to "The Kuthona Rat". I used the incorrect alias for that role play and I am hoping to correct the mistake. If it is not possible, then I understand. Thank you for your time.

In the spirit of gaming in general, I figured I ought to run one of the classics for the Virtual Game Day: S00-06 Black Waters

The Pathfinder Society seeks the ancient ruby ring of the salamander and it falls to a team of Pathfinders to find it. Last seen in the Tri-Towers Yard, a once elite academy for the youth of Absalom, the ruby ring is now lost in the Drownyard, all that remains of Tri-Towers after it was destroyed a decade ago in the great quake. The Pathfinders must risk the strange black ichors and salty brine to find their prize—will they risk their very souls as well?

I've been sifting through the sources, and I have had a difficult time trying to compile a list of the spells that are exclusive to the ranger class. Would anyone happen to have such a list?

Hello and well met all,

Short and sweet: Am I allowed at character creation to choose take a permanent, numeric penalty to a subset of saving throws (e.g. mind-affecting spells) at character creation? This is NOT to gain any sort of bonus, feat, qualification, etc. It is purely for fleshing out mechanically a few facets of a character concept I am working on.
