Male Half-elf Ranger / 6 (Falconer)
It is with regret and sadness that I'm going to step away from these boards for a while. It's a combination of many things, and the frustration with the board performance just pushed me to do what needed doing. I've got some things that are taking a higher priority in life at the moment. It's been a real pleasure gaming with you all, and hopefully life will give an opportunity to share this hobby we all love in the future...

Still here, just nothing really to contribute at this time. I think Egan had planned on exploring the area around the fort... if he needs his canoe to do so... that is fine. He'll send Whisperwing ahead to scout, and would be willing to take any that wish to join him. Quite frankly this game has had so many stop / start moments, I was kind of waiting to see if it was still progressing.

Egan, takes his canoe, and attempts to find somewhere to keep it... even if he needs to take it out of the water. He'll then pay someone who looks trustworthy to keep an eye on it for him. "Pick out a meeting place, and I'll meet you there. I'm going to take Whisperwing, and skirt the town... just to get a lay of the land, and what we might expect". 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Sense Motive (To find someone reliable to watch his canoe)

Egan nimbly dodges the attacks, using his quarterstaff as a lever to dodge, and draws in his breath as one of the blows nearly hits him. He then grimaces and tries to return the favor, concentrating on the one that came closest to hitting him. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 Quarterstaff to hit
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 thump

Realizing that his arrows often pass through the spaces between the bones of this type of creature, Egan finds a spot where he can't be surrounded (Back against a wall or crate), and prepares to do battle with his trusty staff. Gotta remember to make or buy some blunt arrows. Move then one attack if available 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Quarterstaff
But finds the slippery deck affords him no steady footing, and flails about a bit ungainly.

As the paddleboat clears Opal, Egan uses the opportunity to get used to rowing his canoe, and the language of the river. He goes about 60' in front of the boat, and investigates suspicious areas from time to time relaying back his findings to the pilot. He caries a long pole for sounding, and a weighted line, in addition to his long double bladed paddle. Whisperwing flies low above the water, skimming it now and then hoping for a tasty morsel, and returning to the canoe every now and then to share a treat.

"Perhaps it will ease your mind a bit that I'm part of this crew. Names Egan Coyle, and I've been serving as a guide on this river for years. Know it like the back of my hand. If it's OK with you I'll tie one of my canoes to the stern, and use if for scouting from time to time"?

Egan is certainly willing to go along. Just look for Whisperwing in the sky, and follow him to the young ranger. He'll be eager for a trip upriver through the jungle. I'll be on a business trip this week, so posting may be spotty. Feel free to DMPC my character to help move things along.

Egan, glad to be back on firm ground is in no mood to mingle with people at the moment. He is happy to sit in a quite area close to the tavern, and watch Whisperwing wheel about, diving for mice real and imaginary. If history repeats itself, the rest of the group will find adventure soon enough, so he check the doorway from time to time to see if they are leaving or staying.

Egan will once again trail one of his longboats behind the ship. Whisperwing senses the tension on board, and spends much of his time sitting on the trailing craft, keeping watch. Egan just tries to stay out of the way, until they reach the safety of land once again.

"Whisperwing is smart, but I don't know if she's that smart. Perhaps it would be better to have someone take to the rooftops and scout ahead. Whisper wing can warn of danger". Egan calls Whisperwing down, and tries to get her to pick a safe path, instead of seeking out the enemies. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Handle Animal.
Male Half-elf Ranger / 6 (Falconer)
"Well you're lucky. You've got natural grace and awareness of where you are. I've got a bit from my elven side, but most of it comes from long hours of having to be quiet in the Jungle to keep from becoming somethings lunch". He follows Magnus back appreciating the man's natural grace. He decides to let Whisperwing continue his vigil.

Egan quickly heads up to the room and opens a window stepping out on the roof where Whisperwing awaits. He whispers to the bird, and sends him off to trail the two wanderers from above. (guard). He then settles into a comfortable (For him anyway) nook, ties himself off in case of nightmares or worse, and awaits development.
