I will assume someone has shown it.
Kessel knocks the knock he was shown. After a bit the door opens a crack and an eye peeks out
I am assuming that everyone but Kessel is out of sight on the warehouse sides
A deep voice with an island accent whispers
"Who you here to see, mon?"
Kessel Cobey |
"Who do you think I'm here to see friend?" Kessel whispers showing his sword, "I know you'll need to secure this of course, several throwing blades as well, but let's make it quick okay? I've come, as requested, to play my respects and offer a tribute."
Kessel jingles his coin purse.
"They didn't specify what you use out in this little backwater, so I brought platinum and gold, everyone love gold and platinum."
bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Kessel Cobey |
"You got the lay of the land," Kessel says as he approaches the door, "And I'm not here to step on any toes, why don't you give me the chant? I'm not planning on putting down roots or anything, just do my job and catch another ship out of here. Maybe I could be convinced to stay a bit if either is looking for my unique set of skills, but, no offense, this port doesn't strike me as one capable of keeping me employed for long. Especially with that sahaugin army at your master's beck and call. Brute force usually wins out over elegance when you don't have to worry about concealment and deception. Well, there's the need for some deception, even here at the moment, but probably not too much longer I imagine . . . if the rumors are to be believed. But then I'm not looking for any answers but if my employers want to talk I'd be a fool not to listen."

The guard looks a bit flummoxed by Kessel's palaver. He opens the door about halfway to allow Kessel in. He is an Eastern Islander with the full-body abstract tattoos that are a common sight among those islands. His face is dominated by a large nose which is inked in a tribal bird design that runs across his high cheekbones
"I'd say talk to Jemerae first, mate. He's head of security. He can decide who you palaver with first. Just don' say anything about the army out loud. He don't like us talking about that stuff"
Dungeon Monkey |
those are some good rolls. I can work with that. A bit
The guard lets Kessel in and pushes at the door. Kessel jingles his coins and the guard turns just as Felicia lightly grasps the door before it closes. She and Magnus ghost in, keeping to the Adobe walls of the building and vanishing into the shadows of the warehouse
Anyone going in roll stealth. I'll assume the guard is flummoxed with Kessel do a DC 15 to get in undetected

"Hmm," Kessel muses, "I don't go sharing my employer's trade secrets, but it's not as though I didn't over hear people at the bar talking about our little friends kidnapping folks. But point taken. Last I'll mention it. This lord you spoke of, fraid other house members don't like to talk about family, or at least as is my experience, is Gervas a full member with the dagger like teeth and gills? Or is the family "curse" also an off topic amongst associates?"
Magnus Darkenstar |
Magnus blends into the wharehouse, just as his teacher taught him. Only the shining smile of his bright teeth mark him in the darkness, and only for an instant as he reminds himself that this isn't ALL fun and games. Yet.
The Magus waits as Felicia and Iskrael make their own way inside. He is entertained by the the absolutely masterful way that Kessel commands the guards every attention and movement. HE wishes he could cheer. He does so enjoy watching a master at work.

Just Egan and Citali left. I'll write a bit more here
The interior of the warehouse is cool. The thick Adobe walls have kept the desert heat at bay. Boxes lay stacked in rows branching out in different directions. The building is dark, only the guards bullseye lantern shows. There is a second floor with a balcony that overlooks the main floor. Two more guards with lateens seem to be walking it, shining their lantern light down now and again to illuminate the box maze below
Any thoughts about what you want to do, let me know

I forgot scranford/Egan was away this week. I'll just make his roll real quick
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Egan glides into the warehouse as silent as a ghost. Even his own party members have difficulty seeing where among the boxes he ended up
The guard points Kessel down a wide path through the stacked crates
"Down there, at the end is the stair to the second floor. Tell the guard there you want to talk to Jemerae. I have to stay at the door. Don't wander off. The guards have orders to shoot first and ask questions later. "
He points to a crossbow hanging from a hook just inside the door Kessel came in

I could Color Spray him, but the light from the spell might alert the guards, and I think were going to need that one soon. :) I can DAZE him, we'd have to attack him quickly, (He would still have his AC) but the spell says 'can take no actions for one round' I would presume that includes calling for help? :) Does anyone have a spell/ability to do a silent takedown on this guy?
Seeing the guard giving Kessel what is obviously a well-intended final warning, Magnus tenses. He is personally unwilling to leave a fully functional guard behind him. It interferes with his plans for a daring quick exit.

Sorry; San's spells are all pretty flashy, combat-y types.
Magnus Darkenstar |
Heh, that would be great if we could cast that on the OTHER guards, so they don't hear him yelling! :) But anything that gives us a chance to take him by surprise is bonus I'll take! Go for it!
Reaching a decision (for better or ill) Magnus motions all the others forward, miming grabbing the guard, and then clamping a hand over his mouth. He silently approaches the guard from behind while he is pointing out the crossbow hanging on the wall to Kessel.
Magnus bounces lightly on the balls of his feet, the others taking positions next to him. One hand resting on the pommel of his rapier, the other held up in the air with three fingers.
Then two fingers,
Then one finger,
Grinning like an imbecile, Magnus whispers a single word of power and points at the guard.
Move to 10' of guard (leaving room for all the the others to get in at him.) Cast Daze, Range Close (35') Will save vs DC:13 to negate. (Did not want to do spellstrike with weapon and risk missing.) :)
Magnus Darkenstar |
Magnus sits the guard up in a corner where two stacks of crates meet, quietly arranging him so he looks like he fell asleep at first glance. He pats the former guard on the head and whispers, "Thanks for getting the door pal, we'll take it from here!"
He gives the others an infectious grin and gestures for Kessel to lead the way.
Are we going ALL sneaky now that we're in? Or letting Kessel continue to play the part of 'invited guest' While we clean up behind him? :)
Sanvoros Draben |
San looks down at the dead guard, and shakes his head a bit. "So we're goin' lethal, are we? As of now, we don't know what or if anything's happening here. Don't get me wrong, I don't shy away from a good fight, but seems to me we could've just put 'im out for the count ..."

"Piracy is a capital offense in most ports, of that we already know they're complicit, and a few moments ago he admitted to be party to the sahaugin kidnappings. We are dealing with criminals of the highest order here, I wouldn't loose any sleep over this San, but don't mistake my motives. I'm not interested in bringing these folks to justice, I have no intentions of even trying to put this lot to the sword, I am interested in completing our mission though, but if we should need to spill a bit more blood to do that so be it.
"Perhaps we might be lucky and find some of the original crew to our ship who can assist us in recovering it."
Magnus Darkenstar |
"Make a little noise, like maybe our guard friend got drunk on duty. Just enough to lure one down to check on their buddy, but not enough to make them sound the alarm?" Magnus offers, (actually potentially helpful for once.)
"Save the flash for the grand finale. There's ALWAYS a grand finale!" He grins boyishly, ruining any mistaken interpretations of seriousness.
:)
