In our game this weekend I rolled nine 20's for saves and attacks against my players. It's the only thing that kept my monsters in the game.
We're playing SCAP and my players are ahead on the level curve, playing Drakthar's Way at 5th level (there are usually only 3-4 players at each session so the level a bit faster). But my rolling of 20's kept things interesting. In one encounter, against Kellev the tiefling fighter and the human sorcerer, the only swing that Kellev got to take was a critical hit against the party paladin, knocking him completely on his ass. I use a hit location die "for flavor" during certain damage rolls and the paladin took a "full body" shot from Kellev's halberd. Damn it felt good to knock the snotty paladin on his keyster.
Anyone else use hit location dice for more descriptive combats?

*ahem* This belongs in the DMs and their Toys topic down the hall...But seriously. I just got a hit location die and some other goodies from a convention I went to this weekend. I can't wait to loose them on unsupecting PCs!
