Heya Ed, the details are in the pathfinder society guild guide (free but on the store/downloads links) as this way is only used for pathfinder scenarios. Basics are on page 10.

Will take a stab at the build bits - Guessing some of it gets caught in the

Perth - Where they are getting so much damage? (+2 needed)
Seance Boon: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.

Gwinn - How did they get 12 skills at level 1?
Rogue (8) int (2) Human Skilled (1) FCB (1) - with fast learner for the hp as well

Perth - How they got 9 skills at level 1?
Medium (4) int (2) Human Skilled (1) FCB (1) - maybe mentored was seen as a dot not a bonus or something boosted but not dotted?

Brackish - second trait:
Something for perception as a class skill as Shaman do not get it and it is pirate goodness

Silver Crusade

oil of grease - best low level way to escape tentacles, grapples and similar.. for those run away moments...

I guess that after 1st level they evolve in game, the back story is all that is Definate once they get started :) a level 5 plan in this case is more of an expected idea for the character than set in stone.

It'd be the only reason I carry a CRB with me.

Now i have to question, were the new lighter softback CRBs introduced to limit some of the injuries of the hardback or just improve range distances...

Silver Crusade

Animal study - tracking the bear or chasing the prey around the forest? Be thew animal before you take its shape type thing?

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

Trade goods - sells for 100% and is generally useful in trade when coin is not. (high levels there is a preference for diamond dust for some reason ;) )

Speaking of Yue Xin, I wonder how many fortune cookies I can manage to eat before Saturday morning. Maybe I'll dig some gems out of a fortune cookie database instead.

And now i feel the need for fortune cookies at my table for the game!

I would agree that the Jade Ogre Style is an attack usage so would give options for multi attacking. Also would be a good demonstration of the style for the judges.

For fragments there is a statue on the map so it does feel like the south east is the closest to the description given. Any thoughts on the alarm proximity distance - thinking in front of either of the North/South doors?

experiment means its a trial to see if a quest line is worthwhile within the normal seasons scenario mix. I for one am happy to get a look at the new format and hope it will be viable as it will give another style to pfs adventures.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

remember that you have an AoO budget in that as well - (maybe one for each hit in this case?) - even Combat reflexes only gives you a limited amount of payback...

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

Oil of Grease - Slap it on your armour as a way to stop you or a buddy being grappled to death and can be used while you are grappled (stick it on a bandolier)... +10 to escape and to avoid being more grappled. 50gp to avoid some of the worst of grapple monks and tentacle monsters...

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

I think it is to start from level 1 in game and a rough path for early life (as adventure plans will shape progression at least a bit). A level 1 block is less interesting than a level 5 but its where every (unless its a GM baby) PC starts

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

Congratulations on a first run in - don't forget to get some games in yourself than to be a slave to the screen - always good to have some of those PC near death experiences to talk about ;)

oh and you can always come up with suggestions for your VL as well i would expect, dropping into part 3 of the three parter is not the easiest start so i would hope you would get some chances to pick things that are interesting for you as well.

Lots of people who can give you suggestions if you have a preference on what interests you across Golarion!

Thanks for the info Steven.

I was looking for some clarification on replaying modules (either as partial evergreens or GM credits) and if/what was required to gain the bonus sheet for completion a second time (either as a player or GM double).

I know the descriptions for replaying and evergreens are all around the actual session/adventure but would like to check they would get the bonus sheet for having all 2/3 played again or if it needs something like another GM replay boon as this feels like a grey area.

In some ways i think this might be more of a loophole with Gallows of Madness due to the slow progression and optional order of play..

"GM Star Replay: As a GM earns GM stars, she gains a limited ability to replay adventures (see Chapter 3: GM Basics)."

"Players who play through the entire module and apply
all three Chronicle sheets to the same Pathfinder Society
character earn a fourth Chronicle sheet that must also
be applied to that character. As always, each player may
receive credit for each module once as a player and once
as a GM in either order."

east side of the room has a tall ladder (between the two tables on the right side) described in the C1 description.
As they were searching in the room I ended up starting the fight on the clouds/balcony.

But what of folks who are incapable either because of time constraints or lack of talent to GM, or are in a Lodge where they only get the Boon if their tables fire?

Saying 'oh, just GM' is very much a kick between the legs to some people.

Agreed, it was somewhat in jest.. i know that repeatedly rolling badly for one off rolls frustrates as well and the other people who have the touch for things like boon rolls can have a pile of them across a con/year.

so will try a few more serious points:
1) GMs will tend to get less games than players and would be less likely to build up points. Would they get some way to balance a chance at a boon if they only got the less frequent game option.
2) Repeat attendance would be the only way to gain these, visitors to your games would not have likely odds of gaining them..

I agree its a positive option but there tends to be some cases it will be less beneficial for..

Those who love logic and control might find more interest in the GM line.. for only 6 handy sessions they too can get a GM boon ;)

As a generally GM who knows the dice hate him i can see why this one would be a good option. Hopefully the profession(Gambler) type players don't gripe

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

Doh.. teach me to not look at the scenario while at work. Apologies jmclaus got confused with Falren and Simmer.

Cookie: "Cookie refuses to give-up any information unless the PCs play one of his table games." I would say he goes for the standard time is money and i'm not paid to blow hot air with you guys... Would maybe make it possible to do so if the pcs lose all the betting but not until they have spent money at the table.

Maren: Definitely seems like an alternative to the diplomacy route, I would say that you could add a diplomacy check if a Pc was looking for one, it is normal interacting rules but i would guess you would need to determine your own Cha modifier.

Thunder: If he starts off indifferent it is more of a challenge but he is a dwarf so racially less charismatic, I would question if you would count him as a citizen of the Port though, thereby making even a simple fail a risk.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

My take on it
- Are the PCs able to communicate using Common with citizens other than Briel? Sylphs normally have Common as a racial language and nothing is mentioned to contradict that, but that would defeat the purpose of having a translator in the first place

I would go with the localised to the plane of air so not used it and not really familiar (sylphs have the gone native to human so this is the equivalent for PoA), I think went with the fence having some broken common for selling things and the others translator and/or those with Auren naturally.

- Is it impossible for the PCs to proceed without a translator? I could foresee the party being stingy with gold and not wanting to pay, which would force them to blunder around until they get 5 Awareness points

Without a way to fix the language, they are very visibly touristing so either give them an idea of the strange looks and wary views from the shadows they are getting or else they will end up with a summons to Troll central. Personally i would go with out of their depth hints as they travel..

- Is it impossible to use the general skills (Bluff, Intimidate, Diplomacy, Perform) for Maren and Cookie? It's not clear to me whether the individual rules presented are an alternative to those general skills or a replacement.

No benefit and no penalty for the lack of a language barrier. M & C are just lesser translators and guides.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

hmmm basic questions

- Awareness Level starts at 0? Seems most logical even if the end numbers start at 1+

- Guessing Jamila is not in a good state if she has been trapped in a block of ice and then the environmental endurance kicks in.. might be worth letting PCs that are knowledgeable or heal specialists get hints that its not just defrosting she needs.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

My take on the layout for this fight...

C1 description "An open door on the western wall empties
out into a hallway, and a ladder near the eastern wall leads up to
the second floor balcony."

C2 description "thick clouds suspended in the air between the balcony and the ceiling."

This would be super cool with full 3d maps and full sphere fog clouds but i think in this case we only really have what a couple of maps to pull it off with :)

60ft roof

30-40ft C2 balcony (ladder on the east, Opening to outside on the far East)

0ft C1 (entrance on west, ladder on the east side up) shadows of the balcony

For me i set up both levels (guards were avoided so was only the one combat)
We had Challanor getting nauseated, dimensional sliding into hiding and people dropping onto bookcases and hunting him down.

The ladder is on the middle of the map vertically and 4-5 spaces in..

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

we found the catacombs burst damage to be the worst of these... down and blasted is really tough!

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

maybe ensure the players know they can carry the reward items around and use them to keep alive?

"As the PCs play though quests, they gain resources and allies that can assist them in future quests. At the beginning of each adventure, check each PC’s Chronicle sheet and use the GM Reference Sheet on page 41 to determine what the PCs have acquired. As long as at least one PC has an Evidence or Resource box checked, all PCs gain its benefit."

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

"You know, Durvin Gest was one of the first to work out that Ioun Stones can have negative resonance... Be careful when you touch that..."

"Have you danced with a pale maiden in the darkest night?"

"The Pigs Paunch is more than an establishment, its a way of life.."

"Just like Pathfinder Chronicles and the exploits of Durvin Gest - don't believe everything you read."

"If there is a copy of volume five in that crate, I call dibs..."

"Gest did find the fountain of youth in the end, I just look this good naturally."

"Its times like this i wish i had my own pirate ship..."

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

the specials were not designed for multi replay - sure they are good and have variety but they are a limited roadmap.

Ever wanted to see a tough design suggestion? evergreen multi-table doom for season 9 10 11 ;)

Standing or sitting, I think.

More mixing and not restricted to a meal time or seating placements etc. -Was why it was more of stretch on as long as needed type event for social interaction attempts. (and it took me a minute to link from dinner to gala :) )

BNW - good thought... guessing for me i will give them the idea they can split up and visit people in groups and a conversation with someone being about a half hour - means the evening can keep going and it will just mean time going on.

Not a definite, but its a social event taking the full day/evening so would not see any hard limits unless they completely nark off someone with their interactions or it has gotten to an in game point where the players have gotten enough intel and seems a good point to guide them on.

Trying to work out if there is a perception/know(nobility)/diplomacy to get the idea of the social dynamics if the players try to scope the room before interacting.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

Hmmm.. Area C2 has some odd wispy cloud bits, just trying to get my head around what the map is of before i try to run through it.

Guessing that it is a part of the library but is it literally clouds on the second floor many feet above C1?

From C1 description:
The most striking details of the room, however, are the thick
clouds suspended in the air between the balcony and the ceiling.
Atop these stationary clouds rest additional bookshelves, chairs,
desks, and podiums.

I just finished reading part 2, and there is an advantage to having picked one side over the other.

I suspect there are other places where that boon will come into place (plus playing with the air elemental is a bit of a pain in the ass at the time :) )

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/5 *

I would say this is bitter and ongoing enmity... They will throw insults back and forward and not back down until a side is chosen - throwing themselves at the other if it is left to escalate.

With knowledge checks and the back story you should be able to have them pick sides or if they stand aside have the combat move away (or shouts from the elementals - especially the guide) as they lose the chance to side with either force and not get access to a leader...

For me the Air elemental guided them through and as the Earth elemental heard them sounding like they were agreeing with going with the Air elemental he became 'enraged and attacked out' forcing them to pick a side..

greater mercy is primarily the best route to ultimate mercy as a way to raise the dead without a ton of troubles (still neg levels but a big discount)... it does not make you the healer but it does make you popular when someone falls all the way over.

I got to try it out when our cleric fell over dead on the first enocuter of a multi tabler - when you burn all your lay on hands at level 6 be afraid for the rest of the scenario!

I found that its mostly if you have cracked or flawed eye-on balls you need some kind of spyglass to improve it to the mk2 or 3.... headband of rules logistics is a good addition though if you are going to get stuck in audits...

I think you will have a bit of a harder slog with the clearing - 2PP 740/750 pistols might be a good substitute to keep you going on gun jams, scroll of jury rigs for anyone that can help you (maybe look at the umd route for you to try it yourself.. with a wand?)

Silver Crusade

I have plans for an PFS MS gunslinger 1, bard lots and a lot of PP spent on small arms (as well as a couple of big ones). This means you can jury-rig as a combat clear if you get a really good gun and just switching out when you can't/not as needed.

This is more of a bard who carries guns but I think it works if you are not going 5 levels deep/a plan for your other levels when you get there..

I think this was a throwback to an old errata:

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/resources

Page 182—In the Attack section, in the Natural Attacks section, in the third paragraph, delete the following two sentences: “In addition, all of your attacks made with melee weapons and unarmed strikes are made as if you were two-weapon fighting. Your natural attacks are treated as light, off-hand weapons for determining the penalty to your other attacks.”

As this is no longer a part of an attack build then the TWF has less relevance (but as BNW points out it comes in with a big bag o attacks action)

Nice - hopefully its in time to get a good Samhain game going! Still on course for last Wednesday of the month? (looking to make some plans for our local meet up)

We get 4-5 tables at a fortnightly gaming event - it really does pull the group together and everyone gets to feel connected as a group.

In a games store or a public place its also easier for new recruits to feel its a more accessible game.

It also means that the group can catch up in a post game trip to the pub for a catch up and tell the tall tales of the days gaming.

All in all it improves community in a way that random games at someones house does not.

Also a gaming specific place (store if it has space or gaming cafe) is going to be a lot more receptive than a random cafe we would invade even if its only a single tables worth.

Silver Crusade

Add to this i now want to know the move speed of a 5-ft cube of water to be able to surf the heavy of the group into combat....

Will keep an eye out.. I would suggest coming up with a cool combat feature you could do while BP Water form is going.. they do tend to be be split into buff-casters and combatants for design.

Songhealer is also on the list still i think but not quite on the uncommon list.

Watershaper is a cool one though.. will add it to the potentials for character plans :)

Silver Crusade

Alternative combat to style to compliment the Watersinger...

Water flowing style rapier style - Tempted to suggest a bard of Desna with butterfly sting. Go for the full pirate seasinging style (sea shanty or siren both work) With the chance to drop into swashbuckler to give you finesse things and rapier goodness? (i believe all the water work keeps going as frees like normal BP once its in progress)

You inspire and pass cool crits out using a rapier for hits? possibly moving into flag bearer in the other hand to move around being awesome, water bending and critically useful?

Desna is a great god to link in with as the seas are so tied to the sky and the stars (tidal and open skies above the sea and all)
