So, it's been a few years. And after chatting with my players, they suggested that I shouldn't leave the campaign at Book 4, not without coming back to Book 5... and the fight with Rasputin.

Now, I mentioned that I gave them Mythic, right? Yeah, Mythic is NOT why they managed to get Rasputin to do the absolutely unthinkable. There's a bit of a Content Warning below for NPC getting so desperate as to commit self harm.

** spoiler omitted **...

Was nice after all this time to get to come back and finally read what you wrote contemporaneously when we were playing. Reign of Winter was a lot of fun and getting to bring back the memories feels good.

Shutting down Rasputin like that is something that I'll never forget.

Hi James,

I heard that one of the Tales books set in Cheliax mentions the proper names for Chellish currency, (like how Absalom has copper pennies and silver weights, not just copper and silver pieces). Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the passage in question.

I was curious as to what the names for Chellish currency are (copper, silver, gold, and platinum if possible, please).

Thanks in advance for your time.

It could work, but do note that magical aging does not bestow the experience that would normally be gained in those times. Successfully aging your new friend would make him in effect a young child in an adult body. This is much more dangerous than it sounds. Furthermore, magically aging someone to such an extent is drastically shortening their lifespan. I don't know whether I'd call this an evil act, but it most certainly is not good.

Ask your GM. Some things should best be answered by the GM's discretion.

My opinion:

Puddle of water: Spell works, but is a horrible idea. Anything that causes the surface to ripple will "break the mirror". A gentle breeze would disperse this spell faster than most cloud effects.

Windows: Most places can't afford panes big enough for you to fit into. If you're in an area that can afford large panes of glass, you're likely to get the guard called on you for suspicious conduct. This is the sort of thing that rings of a bad idea, particularly when you run at it from the wrong angle and break it instead of entering your hideaway.

Eye: What are you, fine sized?

Oh good lord, you are right. hunters are horrible for beginners. It took me ages to even begin to realize the advantages brought by teamwork feats- outflank, improved outflank, and paired opportunist to get a ton of extra hits from crits (still not sure how an archer build 'works'; it practically seems like a core rogue without sneak attack)

Even if you dump a wizard on a new player, they can at least figure out how to spam fireballs. But if you don't use teamwork, hunters are just off brank, weaker rangers with a few more spells.

Archer builds for hunters benefit greatly from their spells. Gravity bow, eagle eye, named bullet, arrow eruption, echolocation, bow spirit, aspect of the falcon, etc. allow ranged hunters to lay waste from afar.

They control the shape of the battlefield at the higher levels with spells like control winds, tar pool, stone spikes, wall of stone, wall of thorns, ice storm, sirocco, etc.

I played one through Mummy's Mask and found it to be immensely fun and effective.

* Holy Tactician (Paladin) - Provided a truly distinct experience from the traditional paladin that allowed him to fill a different role than he usually does.

* Ragechemist (Alchemist) - Really helped me to play up the risks of alchemy for hulk-esque characters. I think it needs some more fine-tuning as the detractors as-written are almost too debilitating by level 6. In any case, the risk-reward mechanic was a lot of fun.

* Songhealer & Arcane Healer (Bard) - While these two could never be taken together before, I think that there should be a definite bardic healer archetype, preferably consisting of some sort of merging of these two archetypes. I like seeing classes used creatively outside their normal niche.

*Packlord (Druid) - I like the idea of a herdsmen druid, but think that their animal companions fall out of usefulness too quickly as the game progresses. I think with harsher trade-offs, the archetype could become playable in the long-term by increasing the effective levels of all of their companions at certain later levels (10, 15, 20).

*Mutation Warrior (Fighter) - Could use a better name, but is otherwise a fun blending of alchemist and fighter.

Sarusan is both the place I eagerly anticipate you guys writing about and actively dread. After hearing how low priority it is and unlikely to see content, I went ahead and co-opted it for a home game. The day Sarusan is published is the day I find out all of the stuff I screwed up.

New option for the poll: Add a brand new paladin-equivalent class for each of the other 8 alignments. Think of the possibilities, guys! Eight additional classes!

I'm of the opinion that alignment itself should be scrapped outright.

If alignment must be retained, then I believe paladins should be required to be on the lawful or good axes, but not necessarily both.

I suspect the Spire of Nex is the tallest...

After that, I have no idea, but I suspect/hope the next one down from the mile-high Spire of Nex is more than a third as high. And until an adventure needs such a 2nd or 3rd tallest building in print and it needs to be the 2nd or 3rd tallest as part of the adventure's plot point, I very much doubt we'll nail that down in print at all anyway.

Thanks for the response. The next tallest I could find were the unnamed towers of the city of Shraen in the vault of the Black Desert in Orv.

Heya, I'm confident that this is a display bug and is counting your votes properly. When you go out of the thread and back in, is it displaying "Click here to vote." when viewing the poll? If so, we've gotten your selections. I apologize for the confusion there, we use polls fairly infrequently and will be forwarding it on to our tech team to look into for future contests.

I play a ranged hunter in a Mummy's Mask campaign.
Suffice it to say that Reduce Animal saves an IMMENSE amount of headache when it came to narrow quarters. It also proved useful when we needed to use spells that count large creatures as two targets, like teleport.

Do not underestimate the utility of this spell.

Hi Frank, congrats again!
Thanks for doing this thread in your free time.

Spoiler:
Needlenose Arbalest
Aura strong transmutation; CL 14th
Slot none; Price 51,050 gp; Weight 12 lbs.
Description
This sculpture of a monstrously articulated mosquito functions as a +2 impervious heavy crossbow, gaining the seeking special ability when targeting creatures with the bleed condition or who are below half their full hit points.

Once per week, the wielder may speak a command word to launch the mosquito's head at a foe within 50 feet as a ranged touch attack. The head remains connected by a length of rope stored within the crossbow. As part of the weapon, the rope benefits from the enhancement bonus and impervious special ability.

A successful hit deals normal damage and 1 point of bleed damage and the wielder can attempt a combat maneuver check to grapple the target as a free action. Each round the wielder successfully maintains the grapple, the target is pulled 10 feet closer to the wielder and dealt 1 additional point of bleed damage. This movement does not provoke.

If the wielder begins their turn adjacent to the target and successfully pins them, they may drop the crossbow as it animates into a giant mosquito (see the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 2), but without the disease special ability. The wielder is no longer grappled as the mosquito is now pinning the target. The mosquito acts on the wielder's next initiative, feeding on the pinned target. The mosquito reverts to its crossbow form once the grapple ends, the target is killed, or it deals 8 points of constitution damage, whichever comes first. If slain while animated, the mosquito reverts to crossbow form...

I think I understand the Schulze Beatpath now. Here is a basic example as far as I understand it, am I on the right track?

Spoiler:

Assuming 4 entries in a competition.

entries :: votes | winner
1 vs. 2 :: 13-27 | Item 2
1 vs. 3 :: 25-17 | Item 1
1 vs. 4 :: 16-21 | Item 4
2 vs. 3 :: 32-8 | Item 2
2 vs. 4 :: 21-22 | Item 4
3 vs. 4 :: 19-18 | Item 3

This tally would leave items 2 & 4 tied for first place while items 1 & 3 are tied for third. Ties such as these are then resolved by seeing which item in the tie was victorious when they were pitted directly against each other. Item 4 beat item 2; item 1 defeated item 3.

Therefore the final ranking would be:
First: Item 4
Second: Item 2
Third: Item 1
Last: Item 3

I'm working on a guide for the holy tactician.

A subsection of the guide will cover maximizing the number of feats a character can grant to his allies simultaneously.

To answer your question: As others have stated, the tactician can only grant one feat at a time.

Stirgenest Quiver

Alright, your item was the one that terrified me the most this season.

The original version of my entry did exactly what yours does, I literally looked at my screen slack-jawed for a couple minutes as I pulled up a screen shot of my submission page to make sure I had submitted my final version.

After my panic attack, I saw how you did this idea a heck of a lot better than I had planned to, so I thought of your item as my item's rival and voted for it every time. I never saw ours go head to head though. Unfortunately, they still probably blood drained some of each other's votes though.

Alright, serious critique:

I think that the choice to go with a constitution penalty as opposed to dealing ability damage was a bold choice that could have had a better execution. Specifically, what happens when this penalty pushes a target's constitution to zero? The penalty probably should have had a restriction similar to the feeding frenzy bonus instead of remaining uncapped.

My second sticking point with the item is that it was wordy. The description had multiple portions that could have been written more concisely and clearly. The last sentence of paragraph two was a rough read.

Original:
"This penalty stacks with other stirgenest quiver projectiles' penalties, but each can be removed as a move action by extracting the proboscis." - 22 words, clunky to read, run-on sentence

Suggestion:
"This penalty stacks with itself. Extracting a projectile is a move action that reduces the penalties by one." - 18 words, sentences are clearer

---
Ultimately, I just want you to know that I was surprised by your item, it was one of my strong keeps, I had a great time chatting with you on the Items Seen List, and EXPLOSIVE RUNES.
