The Reactive Shield is a feat that allows the Raise a Shield action to be done as a reaction, which the Shield spell counts as.

Since casting the spell is only a verbal action, and raising an actual shield is also an action, there shouldn't be a problem casting Shield as a reaction then. Note that since the reaction is spent, using the magical shield to block is no longer possible. Since the magical shield is only +1AC no matter the heightened level, it's relatively balanced so I'd allow it.

What would be your criteria for selecting?
I'd like to apply with a half-orc monk but will need a bit of time to whip up a stat block, unless a pathbuilder link is OK with you for the application?

For reference, I played RotRL before but had to drop soon after the Clock Tower due to life reasons. With luck, I hope to continue it.

Has there been any update on this? I wanted to restart on PFS and join the Dark Archives but the online registration does not give me the option to do so... :(

How about this...?

Character Class/Levels: Sorcerer 20 / Monk 5
Character Race: Aasimar
Archetypes Used: Stormborn (Sorcerer) / Flowing (Monk)
Expected Party Role: Stand-alone Blaster. Monk levels aids his survivability by adding options for self-defense. Plus, I can buff allies' weapons with shock or shocking burst for the extra *whump*.

This alias is actually a low-level gestalt version and I'm curious about building him up to epic levels.

You might want to check out the 'Looking for Group' section at Roll20.
That's where I go to when looking for real-time online gaming, but I'll post here if I find an Iron Gods AP with opening. I'm looking for a group to go with that adventure myself. :)

@Ilya:
You feel as if the elf leading you into the castle intends to do something bad. Bad for you at least. Also you see him add a quick gesture with his wave to the guard who nods shallowly in reply.

Heal sticks are always useful at second level.

Maybe... if anyone else in the group can use it, cause I can't. I'll wait and see the final party before buying starting items.

@GM: will we be using the standard xp progression rate?

GM Rednal wrote:

The entrance and exit are separate areas, actually - and you get to use each path exactly once. XD

Well, there goes my "buy a pack horse and leave it near the entrance" plan. I'm still thinking of some ways to better use 1000gp aside from potions. Maybe I'll just grab a wand of mage armor and be done with it...

Just making sure, though being a monk/sorc I don't need much to start off with.

@GM: from your description of the adventure style, it seems that there would be only one way into and out of the dungeon correct?

Myth-weavers: Jason Fury

Male CG Aasimar Flowing Monk & Stormborn Sorcerer
Abilities Str 14, Dex 14, Con 10, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 18

Backstory:

Age? 10
Parent/s? Murdered
Race? Half-human. Possibly an aasimar.
Starting Bid? 1000gp

Orphaned and a slave to a minor noble in Cheliax named Duraga, Jason was living a life of relative peace, able to survive from day to day. Years later however Jason would fall for a baker's daughter named Nikole. She lives in the other end of the city but Jason saw her when he opened the door to receive the cake for his master house one morning. Needless to say, he was stunned that he couldn't speak as he stared at her until she reminded him for the third time regarding payment. Days later, Jason would find the courage to sneak out of the house just to find her. He'd usually sneak away once a week but after a month Jason would meet with Nikole nearly every day, happiness filling him from just being beside her. Sadly it wasn't meant to last...

It was six months after their first meeting when the house guards suddenly stormed into Jason's room during his sleep, clamped him into chains and threw him in the basement dungeons without explanation. His fears where confirmed the next morning when the guards brought him into the ritual chamber where he discovered that they too had taken Nikole prisoner. Like him, she was tied up and unconscious, her head down as she hanged from her hands whose chains were attached to the ceiling. The guards left as Duraga entered the chamber dressed in his summoning garb and Jason feared the worst more than ever.

Duraga smiled and approached Nikole, stroking her cheek with a long nailed finger "You have chosen a very fine sacrifice for me Jason. She served me well last night and will do so again for the great lord." Jason ceaselessly struggled against his binds and screamed his rage into his gag, but it was all for naught as Duraga began chanting. The summoning circle in the middle of the chamber glowed red, becoming brighter and brighter until it filled the room with its reddish tinge. Jason could feel the corruption filling the room, although he knew that the circle was supposed to protect them from whatever was beyond the magic. Duraga laughed as he drew out a dagger and looked at Jason who continued to struggle wildly against his bonds. Staring straight into Jason's eyes with malicious intent, Duraga plunged the dagger into Nikole's chest who woke up from the pain, screaming.

Not again.... Noooooo!

A bright flash of blue light erupted from the core of Jason's being as his bonds exploded in a shower of metal shards. He never felt so much power within him! It was as if he was a god who can do whatever he wished, and right now there was only one thing he wanted to do. Channeling his power into his right hand, he dashed towards the stunned man in front of him with lightning speed and drove two of his fingers into Duraga's eyes before unleashing it. A great shock of electricity enveloped Duraga's head which grew and boiled from the heat. Drawing back his hand, Jason hears the door to the basement slam open. He watched Duraga fall silently whose face seem to melt into the hard stone floor, marring the runes and destroying the ritual. As the guards came running down the steps, the one in front stopped as he saw the spectacle before him.

Red light from the ritual circle was receding as Jason stood over Duraga lying dead on the floor. Sparks of lightning flow around Jason, traveling in arcs from head to arms, hands and feet as if every part of him that was exposed to the air was a conductor. Then Jason turned to look at them, his eyes glowing with bluish energy were undoubtedly filled with uncontrollable rage. As if a bolt of lightning passed between them, the guards were also slain mere seconds later. Their skin and armor burnt in places where Jason touched them, their eyes and teeth crusted black and smoking from the heat.

Finally having expended his power and rage, Jason regained himself. He was observing himself kill these men as a different person watching behind the same set of eyes which belonged to a madman, but understood that this was power he alone possess. He ran back into the ritual chamber, picked up the keys from Duraga's body and freed Nikole. It was too late however... Her beautiful eyes stare past him and into the ceiling as Jason knelt beside her. He bowed his head over hers as he cried in sorrow, tears dripping upon her smooth cheeks while he closed her eyes with a bloody hand.

After what felt like years of wallowing in grief, Jason realized that he cannot stay much longer. He picked Nikole up, carried her upon his back and using Duraga's keys, he opened the door to the secret passage behind the banner bearing Asmodeous' symbol of an inverted 5-pointed star. He had seen Duraga accessing this doorway several times before and with him bearing the only set of keys, none may follow lest they trigger the trap to bring down the whole house. Locking the door behind him, Jason proceeded to escape the city of Cheliax.

Days later, Jason is found kneeling next to a fresh grave in Barrowood with a tombstone bearing the name of Nikole. Celestial runes are roughly carved upon the stone's surface:

Here lies Nikole Maria
The love of my life,
and the light of my days.

Tears leak past Jason closed eyes as he recalls the horror in the ritual chamber...
Never again! I will never be so weak again that I cannot protect those that I love... I will learn these powers granted to me by my heritage and become a master upon myself. This I swear to you... Nikole.

As Jason opens his eyes, it flashed for a moment with bluish energy once again before returning back to normal. He stands up, dried his eyes with the sleeve of his tunic and took his first step to begin his journey that will take him across the land. He learned to hunt his own food in the wilds and trade any excess for silver to ride along caravans. Over the years, Jason will find himself poring over books in vast libraries of major citues, meditating with monks of Irori, and learning magic with acolytes of Nethys. Now, it seems as if destiny has called for him as he travels to the place where he shall leave his mark upon the world, or die trying.

@GM:
Sorry, if the backstory came up a bit long...
No items yet though. What's the starting gold? I'll put it all in an alias when chosen.
Depending on the group, I can fill in the blaster role or go with a defensive build. :)
Also, let me know if you want me to reword the last sentence of the backstory so that it fits yours.

Race: Sulis
Class: Stormborn Sorcerer / Flowing Monk
Role: Blaster & Tripper

Creating crunch and fluff now :)

Ok... bad news for you guys, one of the players just came back aftr settling some real life things so... one slot to fill then.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

Hey! Glad to have you back! gotta let the recruits know that there's only one vacant slot now

-Posted with Wayfinder

A couple of blasters and a support with limited healing. Too early for them to burn down enemy creatures before they charge up to them so a tank or at least a form of front liner would work best. Secondarily, there's no dedicated healer in the group although that can me mitigated, somewhat... hehe

Interest as a player for S&S or Kingmaker here :)
I don't have the materials or time to GM either yet...

I've been wanting to try 5E for some time now, so I hope I can get in. ^_^ Let's get rollin'!

STR: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6) = 15
DEX: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 5, 6, 1) = 24 -> 16
CON: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) = 10
INT: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 6, 6, 5) = 30 -> 18
WIS: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6) = 17
CHA: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) = 14

Hmm... Looks like the one of the best set of stats for a wizard except, if only I can get the STR stat over to CON... meh, I can work with this.

Info about me:
- GMT+8 Timezone
- Posting Rate: 1 minimum is easy, but if everyone's active I can go as far as 2-4 times per day.
- no 5E experience

A small hint:

There are always at least two ways to accomplish a task. All you need is a little creativity ;)

This is a thick wooden door, locked as well but with a small narrow barred window at eye level. Peering inside you see a near naked man with bound feet and hands in front of him. He is also gagged and blind-folded. He responds to Brand with a series of muffled gasps, whatever he meant to say is unintelligible through the gag.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Oh, well... too bad. I'll adjust that part of the backstory to make it a bit more generic then.

How does a charismatic Changeling Witch focused on Enchantment sound? ^_^
Drafting her stats now...

What kind of person is Professor Lorrimor? I was thinking that her Campaign trait would be Making Good on Promises since she was saved by the professor from shame and exile when her practicing on a new spell went horribly wrong and he reversed the effects for her.

The elf faces Morgana with a strange look.

I'll post in more detail when I get on my PC.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

@Maxson: Yes. I left the green line there for simplicity, but your PC still has to find it over the distances stated above. Yhe elementals are still chasing you.

Sure thing, it's still early in the game anyways. What do you have in mind?

If you can, can you bot for Copper? I'm not at my desk right now and I dont have full access to the maps as well. She's past due for today

Character Concepts: Still debating, we do have time before we finalize right? But consider #1 as my primary choice.
1. Human Wizard (Creation) with a couple of levels of Monk of the Empty Hand later on.
2. Drow Demonic Apostle (Cleric)
3. Dhamphir Undead Lord (Cleric)

Party Size Vote: 6

Phase 1 Questionnaire
1. Your experience with the rules
You mean Pathfinder rules? Average, I think. I only started playing May this year, so there are some rules and its combinations that I haven't seen yet outside of reading CRB. When I make an action based on a rule assumption (example), I always point it out.

2. Your experience with PbP
Most of my games are thru PbP since the pacing is much better for us with extensive work schedules. I think I joined my first thread last June.

3. Expectations for playing and what you want out of the experience
Hmmm... tough question. The closest I can say on that is: Explore and apply a darker part of my persona. I'm not naturally 'dark' or 'evil' in truth, but perhaps I will find how far I can go even if only with an RPG character with a much wider roleplay possibility compared to video games.

4. Philosophy as a PbP player
Roleplay is king. PbP is a place where a real story should be developed with as much detail as possible.

5. Why you are applying to this game?
Same answer to #3. Explore and apply a darker part of my persona. Also, I like the campaign setting and haven't played one similar to it so far.

6. Define what you think good role-playing is in PbP.
Make use of out-of-combat opportunities to develop your character and his/her relationship with the world and its inhabitants. Using adjectives and adverbs goes a long way to paint the world and your adventure in it.

7. What is your experience with this adventure path?
None. I've applied for one before but was not selected.

Male

@Ashen: can you do the honors of the scorpion's attk rolls? I add a token on the map when I can

-Posted with Wayfinder

@Lord: no, I'll personally setup a trial for you by lvl5 or so. It'll largely depend on your backstory so keep up the story.

-Posted with Wayfinder

@Tanner: not really, the group already has a lot of melee potential. They're lacking a divine spellcaster except for the anti-paladin, although he doesn't do much in that field

-Posted with Wayfinder

Who is carrying lighy sources this time around? Everything is darm otherwise. Once you have light and proceeded to the 3rd floor...

The group will find the altar room still empty and in the same state that they left it. There are no other doors in sight.

Male

sorry about the multi posts. Wayfinder does not allow me to preview old posts while drafting one myself.
Also, can you change you alias name to include your default PC name Fariza &Olli? Unless that's how you want me to call you...

Raffe & Fariza you may continue forward or do something else in the jungle.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

I'm going to make an assumption here.

Issac maintains his concentration while walking slowly. He realizes now that the trace is definitely moving, heading southwest in fact, but its fading fast until it suddenly dissapears from your range.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

Haikyu hears definite rustling of the bushes behind him. When he turns around to look though, it suddenly stops.

Before he can investigate further, he notices the sounds of a raven behind him (again? your original foward direction now). The languange it was speaking was unknown but felt good to the ears. After a short while, from out the bushes he sees a frail looking man with a raven on his shoulder (Olli). He does not seem to notice you yet and continues walking towards the east, although the raven on his shoulder stopped 'talking' and is now looking at you.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

@Issac:

As you scan the area, you can only feel faint traces of magic to the north east of you. It's rapidly fading now though... from movement or duration of a trace, you do not know which.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

@Raffe:

A small spot of bark on the tree froze slightly but it starts melting almost immediately, leaving only a tiny mark where a portion of the bark broke off.

While you were doing so however, you notice that your component pouch seem to be glowing from within.

see my earlier spoiler. Yours indicates a direction towards NE.

Male

Duly noted. :)
Consider you familiar somehow buried either in your backpack or inside your clothing. I'll leave that for you guys to roleplay out.

-Posted with Wayfinder

@Maxson:

You notice that one of your pockets seem be faintly lit from within. It's the smooth black orb that was given to you by your deity, and is now emitting a faint purplish glow. Turning it around however, you realize that there is a dark spot upon its surface, which seems to stay on one direction no matter how you turn the marble around. For now, it is positioned slightly to the left but forward nonetheless.

@Bobbity:

You hear rumbling echoes of sound from the entrance of your chamber. It's not clear enough to understand, but you feel like it came from the right side of the tunnel.

You may continue your search, but please keep rolling.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

Of course Grim has to suceed on some rolls vs illusions to disbelieve and such.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

About that, ifJake is ever dominated or otherwise mentally fooled like from illusions, it would be logical that Grim would try to 'wake' him up telepathically, or even try forcing it by attempting to control him as per Intelligent Items.

How do you want to handle it GM, and should that be rolled by me or you?

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

oh, haikyu posted while I was drafting.
@Haikyu: you may read the spoiler above, but your light is directed N

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male

Olli still sits dazed upon his stump of wood while the others wander through the forest.

@Fariza:

As you walk through a thicker portion of the woods where the shadows are deep, you notice that one of your pockets seem illuminated from the inside. Digging into it, you feel a smooth round shaped object inside. As you pull it out, you remember it as the only gift the mantis god has given you, a plain white orb only slightly larger than a marble.

Now deep in the shadows of the forest, it seems to emit very faint. Turning it around, you realize that most of the light is concentrated on one direction only no matter how you turn it around, south-west. This spot of light trembles from time to time, but the general direction is unmistakeable.

Everyone may continue their search. Direction and rolls please.
