NPC Cyanne Miller reporting back for cameo duty!
A tall and leggy girl with long blue hair wraps her robe tightly about her. "Daen, are you coming to bed?" She comes up to him, where he sits, perusing his notes by the fireplace and brooding. She kneels down next to him. "We won't get this mess solved tonight... You know that, right?" Tango runs down her arm onto Daen's shoulder, chittering and chiding him. He looks up at her, dark circles under his eyes. She strokes the dark hair out of his face, tucking it behind his long, exquisite ears. He smiles at the gesture, then sighs. "Not tonight, no. Just a few minutes longer?" "Alright. I'll go back to the letter I promised that I'd send Luthor, while I wait for you." She gracefully sinks to the floor, pulling over a short step stool to use as an improvised writing desk. Her words have to be carefully chosen, for she knows not how many eyes are going to read her manuscript before it reaches its destination. ___ Luthor, Daen and I have arrived in Restov. We've been given every bit the warm welcome that we expected from Daen's cousin... ___ She snorts and throws musical notes into the margin, along with the current lyrics of a rather inane ditty. The song is so sickly sweet that she trusts Luthor will look past it to recognize one of Aron's best musical codes. It'll be just like school days. GM Aest: The rolls you requested:

Cyanne waves at the rest of the party from her vantage point in Restov. "Way to go, guys!" Just checking in and saying hi this morning. Hope all is well with you.
I joined a Kingmaker game where the spell was used liberally, and told the GM, "My character is an aasimar. Is it okay if she gets rip-roaring drunk off the warm rush of infernal blood when it hits her system?" The GM laughed and okayed it. Months went by without this ever coming up. Finally, the combat happened where Cyanne had the only silver weapon and we were facing a werewolf. In that battle she went down to three hit points, and the witch dived in to hit me with infernal healing. I did the rest of the battle drunk. It was hilarious, especially since it took the rest of the party a few minutes to figure out what happened. It was a home game, not PFS, so I enjoyed playing with the ramifications of using an evil spell for healing. Hmm

I miss you too, Luthor. I think that I would like to send letters to Luthor the moment that Cyanne reaches Oleg's trading post, proposing the use of a musical code or something to communicate. Maybe Aest could even allow us a silver raven figurine to deliver mail. Also remember that I can totally be recruited as an NPC for your kingdom!
All it took for this game to become active was for me to leave it. I think that Cyanne was somehow smothering gameplay and making it harder for others to come up with posts. I'm glad that all of you have finally found your groove again! :)

Hey all, I sent an email to Daen's player before Thanksgiving to apprise him of all that was happening in game. Daen's Reply:
Sorry for the abrupt and voiceless departure. I have to deal with some personal things, and I am going to have to drop everything to deal with them. The wife and children are fine, and it's not really a health issue, except it sort of is. I'm just tired. I'm working 70+ hours a week on top of a four kids plus the new baby and a wife with post-partum. My free time is being consumed with spending time with my family and I've had to make some hard decisions. In a way, I was afraid that my resolve to leave would wane if I addressed it. I realize that wasn't fair to you, and I hope you'll forgive me. I truly wish the best for you and yours.
You in particular have been a good friend on the boards, and I'm sorry that my departure has affected your character so. You would be welcome to do with Daen whatever you wish for the sake of Cyanne. It was my hope they'd have lots of fat babies, but whatever is good to keep the story rolling would be fine with me. ___ So, Daen is well, just overloaded with real life. Since I would also like Daen and Cyanne to have lots of fat babies, I think that Cyanne's exit is likely permanent, but I'll be happy to be brought on as an occasional cameo appearance NPC or to send coded letters from Restov Luthor's way. Aest, if you have need of that, PM me and I can script a cameo. If you need to recruit us later as NPCs in your Kingdom's Government, we'd love to be part of that. "Blue Hair is fine. My actual name, Cyanne, means 'blue.'" There is a trace of amusement in Cyanne's face, despite the worry and the tears. Then she gazes up at Daen, who has already saddled the horses. It didn't take long to pack her things. She'd always traveled light. She looks to her close friends, giving them each one last hug. ♫ This isn't what I had planned to do
Sometimes you have to leap without knowing why
"You write to me too, okay?" With that, she releases her friends, and turns to look up at Daen with tears in her eyes. "We've a long way to go tonight. We'd best just go." Daen nods, and waves, unable to find the words at this difficult time. Then he realizes that he cannot leave his friends without one last word. "No stupid heroics this time, Kaz. Use all you've got, and cut them down before they can get to you. Lali, shoot them the moment you see them. Luthor, cast every trick in your arsenal. When Cyanne and I return, we want to find you all alive. Got that?" Cyanne's lip quirks upward, despite the tears. "You could just tell them that you love them, you know." Daen scowls. "Think they don't know that?" He waves awkwardly, and then mounts his horse expertly. Cyanne has already mounted Volte and looks back at all of you, and then the two ride off.
Cyanne gathers up Tango from where the little mongoose lay tangled with Rikka in Luthor's hair. There are tears in her eyes as well. "If I can come back, I will. I'm going to be in Restov, and goodness knows the Surtovas will not be kind to Daen. He needs me there. I'll write when I can. Luthor? Remember. Choose love, and don't look back." "It's nice meeting you, Nah." She kneels down to Nah. "Will you remember to say 'bye' to Mikmek for me? He's an old friend."
Cyanne comes out of the tent shaking, and runs to Lali, throwing herself in the older woman's arms. "Lali... I don't know how to tell you..." There are tears running down her face. "Daen has to go and I'm... going with him. By Shelyn, I'm going to miss you all." She kisses Lali on the cheek, then Luthor, and then hugs Kaz fiercely. "You guys are going to take care of yourselves, right?'
Cyanne takes a deep breath, pacing back and forth. "You know and I know that the Surtovas will never accept you until they're forced to do so. This isn't just about seeking acceptance from the Surtovas. That was the old you. Daen, you're playing a deeper game. I saw you with rebel underground in Restov, and saw the moment of decision in your face." She meets his gaze, her blue eyes sharp. "Of course it will be you and me. You're entering this as a spy mission, aren't you? You're looking not only to serve, but also for information, and for that you'll need back up." She takes his hand. "Daen Rulanir, I have followed you into mite-infested hollows and traveled with you into kobold territory. I've fought barfing gremlins, and gone into battle. Now I will follow you into the worst den of vipers of all. Wherever you go, there I'll be." She takes his hand, and squeezes it. "Forever."
Cyanne looks down with undisguised dismay at the letter that has been shoved at her by Daen. "Oh, no. Hells, no." She passes it to Lali, Kaz and Luthor before stomping into Daen's tent. It's only a few minutes later before Tango dashes out, climbing up Luthor to hide in the witch's hair next to Rikka as Cyanne's shouting explodes from the tent.

I am ready to RP my exit, Aest. I want to give everyone in character hugs. Cyanne is going to miss you guys, and Tango is going miss his buddy Rikka!
I fully expect you to hang out in the discussion forum. No going *poof*! ;) I'm not planning on going *poof*! I plan to lurk in discussion at least once a week, but once we get Daen and me to gracefully exit on our joint mission, I'd like to be marked as a former player. You can always reactivate me later if Daen returns. I will miss this character. She's been one of my best. I'm glad that Eric and Lady Ladile are coming in, though. They're both awesome players. I feel like I'm leaving you all in good hands. Hmm
Kobold females are fine. I played one in 'True Dragons of Absalom' (aka We Be Kobolds). There's even some fun kobold archetypes and such. Though I would put a kobold on a much higher point buy to make them on par with the other characters.

Bret also was a lurker. I think it would be fine to put me and Daen on a long term mission. We haven't completely run off into the sunset. We're doing work elsewhere. I'm willing to help you RP our exit. This also gives Daen a way back in if he resurfaces from his newborn. And yes, I'm sure that I need to go. If Daen is missing, Cyanne would not abandon him. I cannot see a way to continue, honestly, other than for her to exit stage left. I see that you're in good hands though with Eric coming in! He's awesome. Hmm
I think with Daen out for a month and everyone else spotty, I'm just going to bid you all adieu. I think this game is done. I love you and have had a fantastic time here. This game had the best writing, chemistry and verve of any game I've played. Thank you all (especially Aest!) I hope to play with you in different games. When you go out into that grand world, remember: Be what you dare!
"Damn, there he was. We could have shot him from here and be done with it!" Cyanne's frustration is visible. "We should not split up any further. Tyg, Perli... are you here?"
Don't wait. React. Or ask a kobold for advice on being sly. Hey this can be a learning moment for Kaz... a chance to delegate authority, just like he would do as a king.
Cyanne casts message on Daen, Lali and Luthor and then slips along, light on her feet as usual. If only she could figure out how to hook more than three people in a link. The darkness does not bother her, but the blinking light from the torches does. Is it a code, or some fae bit of trickery?
Whispering under her breath, she asks the boys, "Can you check if Tyg or Perli are around? We see blinking lights, and I want to know what they are."
Gang, are we still here? I love this game. I love you. But I'm just getting the sense that we've lost our rhythm. Yours,
"I can go out with her. I'm light on my feet, and can keep us in contact with you."
Cyanne nods. "Traps, ambushes, everything we can. These are not honorable enemies. I have no intent to fight fair."
Amused at Luthor's fierceness and Lali's pocketing of the spyglass, Cyanne quietly takes Daen's hand. She glances at Kaz. When will the warrior see the love already at hand? "Akiros, not only do we want your advice on the approach... But I'd love ideas on getting them out of their stronghold. We have a number of kobold warriors who would love a chance to set some traps to welcome the Staglord's Men. What would entice them out? You know how the Staglord's mind works. Most battles are won not by mere prowess of arms, but by out-thinking the enemy, and for that we'll need data."
Cyanne watched Luthor step protectively in front of Kaz and raised an eyebrow. Was he protecting Kaz from his killer, or from a potential rival? Akiros was never neutral when it came to Kaz. Like Kaz, he hid his true feelings deep. If only Kaz and Luthor would just talk to each other. But maybe it was best not to have this conversation right before a major battle. Aloud she said, "That is an interesting theory. Kaz, Lali, Daen, what do you think?" She glanced at Akiros. "Or, you could tell us what's going on. I know that you know." Her tone was light, almost joking, but also a challenge. What is going through your mind now, Akiros?
"That's odd..." Cyanne peers through the spyglass, trying to figure out what they're doing.
She passes the spyglass off to the others. "So what is the point of that defense? I'm not a military person. What the heck are they trying to do here with those spiked logs and the broken towers and the fire?"
"Wait. That smoke was not from Akiros's fire... Where's it coming from?"
Cyanne tugs on Lali's jacket. "Hey Lali, what's with the smoke that's rising over there? Any idea what it's from?"
"We're here for a glorious battle, and to ask our Kobold allies if they wish to join us. You're sneaky and the best trap smiths around. Would you like to help and earn endless glory in King Sootscale's name?"
Oh, he's adorable! That little hat! Does he make goat noises? I love it when infants make goat noises. Hmm
I'm here but I'm wondering if everyone else is. Daen has a new baby, but it seems like all three of the other players are having trouble finding their way. Guys if we want this game to continue... We're going to need to post. Even if you think it's crap. If you want to find your characters voices you'll need to post until they come back. That, or we close this game for real. I'd like to keep going but for that we need the whole team! Hmm

Cyanne grins as she translates. "Hail, Sootscale dragonkin! Your glorious King and we agreed to an equal exchange of tribute called 'trade'." Cyanne pulls out the sign of that agreement, one of Sootscales very own scales. "We are allies by treaty. If your great King has tribute for us, we will of course try to have something in exchange. Otherwise, perhaps we can settle for an exchange of stories today?"
Hey, here's hoping that the baby is happy and healthy. Lali, I love that picture you commissioned. It looks both more fierce and more friendly than your current avatar. Hmm
"Hold!" Cyanne says to Kesten. "We know these kobolds, I think!" She grins and calls out a phrase in Draconic. Draconic: "Mizmek, is that you?!"

Cyanne, reeling from the gut blow, tries to remember Daen's training. Centerline. Breath. Focus. Strike! As she clutches at her gut, all she can think is that she can't let Daen down. Their story does not end this way.
