"Oh! You've been enjoying the show, Mister Zirzip?" Corona asks. Though her tone is light, that lightness doesn't reach her eyes. "That's really nice and all but what's the point of all this? Is it just about the artifact?"

"Well, that's not good!"

As the door suddenly slams shut, (ostensibly) shutting Hancock in the bathroom by himself, Corona is quick to dart past her allies and yank it open once more. She then tries to peer around the door and figure out just what kind of snakes these are!

"If the imp got into the flour then hopefully there's enough of a trail to follow," Corona remarks as she notices Hancock looking around for that very thing. She also begins to look around for a trail to follow.

(And in the event that's already been secretly rolled for and/or Zirzip isn't actually under the bag of flour...)

Unable to discern anything new, Corona sighs and looks around. "Yes, let's finish checking the ground floor first. Well, that's my vote, anyway."

"We should be careful, New Friends. Imps are usually just pawns of stronger devils that give them orders," Corona warns. "So there's probably another, stronger devil behind all of this mayhem! This whole thing has layers, just like an onion..."

After letting this train of thought trail off into silence for a moment, Corona suddenly nods. "Right! I like Friend Fingo's idea; let's do what we can to secure doors behind us. And I also like Friend Signet's idea to search the kitchen first. Even imps get hungry. Probably."

"Okay, um...um...let me think...to catch an imp we need to know more about what they can do, right?"

Corona tries to recall if she knows anything in particular about imps or the kinds of tricks they can pull - besides being invisible, of course.

"So, Nordvick... killed the groundskeeper?"

"Wait, no, I think Kidron said that was a natural death," Corona can't help but interject. "Still, worrying about animals digging him up out of the garden is kind of an odd thing to worry about...right?"

She gives Nordvick a gentle look. "New Friend, have you always had bad dreams like that or did they only start once you started working here? Because, um, I wonder if those dreams were maybe due to the ghost wizard or other bad energies that seem to be clinging to this place."

"Still, I agree we should finish looking in Selik's room and then we might want to sit down and try to lay out everything we know and then go from there," Corona nods to the rest of the group. "Oh! Or maybe we should sweep the first floor and *then* take stock of our situation. But we can decide after we look at Selik's room."

"Aw..." Corona smiles but manages to pick up on the cues of her allies and doesn't say any more about the teddy bear. At least not where the others can hear. Sidling up to Selik she whispers, "Don't worry, sometimes Settie likes to rest next to my head when I sleep."

"I knew it! I knew there wasn't anything supernatural about that seance at all," Corona exclaims. She gives Dehliana a cold stare. "You know, your punishment would've been a lot less if you'd just stuck to fraud and not added murder to the list."

Then, her expression shifts to one of worry. "But that doesn't explain the ghosts. And they're just as dangerous, or even more so! I wish that imp would come out and talk to us; he's probably key to the whole thing..."

"Dehliana's room sounds good, New Friends," Corona agrees, still thinking on what she pointed out earlier.

"Poor Mister Kellvan," Corona remarks sadly. "He seemed a little odd, but nice."

She thinks back to earlier, when people went their own ways while Nordvick worked on preparing dinner, as well as what they learned about the investigator's reasons for being at the inn in the first place.

"New Friends, remember when Kellvan went upstairs? The only other people that went upstairs were Annavinia and Dehliana," she whispers. "I think New Friend Signet is right that we should check Annavinia's room first - and then we should check Dehliana's."

"Maybe New Friend Kellvan will know how to read these notes we found," Corona remarks, gesturing to the research papers they'd found behind the painting. "Because I don't think any of us can...or at least I know *I* can't!"

With the danger past, at least for the moment, Corona sighs and goes to gather up the Settie-bits scattered on the floor in the hallway. "It's always so annoying when this happens. And Settie's gonna be mad at me once I get her rebuilt, too..."

She carefully tucks the salvageable parts into her pack for now until she can get plenty of downtime to work on repairing her friend, which she knows likely won't be for a day or two.

"Don't worry about my injuries, New Friends - I've got an item for that so I'll be okay," she continues, her expression brightening. "I've got some healing magic I can use for everyone else, if we need it."

She can only do it once but Corona has Heal as a signature spell so she can cast a heightened 3-action version to do some healing on everyone at once. For herself, she also has a Pearly White Spindle Aeon Stone so she heals at a rate of 1 HP per minute. If we end up taking 10 minutes, Corona will refocus.

Unfortunately, I believe Settie is destroyed upon reaching 0 HP based on this, since she's an actual familiar and not a poppet ancestry. Corona's just out of luck until she can spend 8 hours to conjure/create a new one.

"Aw, Settie! Now I'll have to rebuild her..." Corona sighs before turning her attention to the area where Fingo pointed. She peers at the location...

...and sure enough, catches some faint, shimmery movement. "Go away, you mean old ghost!" she cries as she attempts to conjure a beam of moonlight against the spectral figure.

Then she tries to recall if she actually knows anything about fighting or dealing with ghosts.

As Moonbeam is a revelation spell, Corona's curse kicks in.

Corona moves up to where she can see around the corner, eyes widening as she spots the agitated objects that are tangling with the group. "Oh, the furniture is attacking! That's unusual..."

She tries to recall if she's ever heard of angry armor or belligerent brooms and if so, how to deal with them.

"I think she's telling the truth, New Friends" Corona nods, in reference to Dehliana. "She doesn't seem to have anything to do with this spirit...and maybe nothing to do with spirits at all. But that's okay because there's bigger fish to fry right now," she smiles.

"The kitchen sounds okay with me, New Friend, but maybe we should go get Kellvan too? Or at least make sure he's okay."

"Oh my!"

Corona looks around the now-sealed inn with obvious surprise and shock; she wasn't sure what she'd expected but it wasn't this. As Settie starts yelling and pointing fingers at Dehliana, she quickly reaches up to give her poppet friend a reassuring pat on the head. "Shh Settie, it's okay. We'll sort it - and I won't let anything happen to you, okay?"

"Besides, I don't think this is New Acquaintance Dehliana's doing. She seemed happy just having a bit of fun with us with her seance shenanigans," she adds with a smile. But then the smile fades. "That said, you shouldn't say stuff about people's parents if you don't know if it's true or not. That's not nice at all."

"Ohhhh..."

Corona is momentarily rendered speechless - which is a bit of a feat in itself - but then quickly rallies when Dehliana suggest they ask any questions they might have. The Carnelian Signet's question is a good one and provides Corona with inspiration for one of her own.

"Are you happy?"

Though Corona is clearly curious and eager to participate in a séance, she also seems to be approaching it with a thoughtful demeanor.

"Hmm...that's true, but aren't spirits sometimes friendly or helpful?" Corona remarks to Kidron as she moves to take a seat at the table, Settie sitting atop her shoulder. "And sometimes they want help with something! You just need to balance being careful but also being willing to listen."

Corona also joins Hancock, Selik, and Nordvick at the bar, always happy to meet new and friendly faces. "Hello!" she remarks cheerfully as she takes a seat. "I'm Corona and it's nice to meet you. Um, do you have any mead? Mead sounds wonderful right now!"

As Nordvick (presumably) moves to pour her drink, she looks around the common room with interest and then back to the bartender. "It looks like there's a decent little crowd here today. Do you get many customers out here? Ooh, ooh, who have you seen that's traveled the farthest to get here? Have you ever served anyone from Tian Xia or Arcadia?"

"Dunno, but hopefully we're getting close. Still, we should probably get moving again so we don't waste anymore daylight. It wouldn't be much fun to be stuck out here at night!"

"That's a good thing," Corona agrees as she wanders back to join the rest of the group, Settie sitting atop her shoulder. "Save the fighting for the people and things that really deserve it or things like just now where it can't be helped. Besides, wouldn't that make it more fun?"

"Oh yes, I've heard wild boars can be really vicious," Corona nods as she walks back up the path to collect Settie. "We probably wandered into their territory...or they were really hungry. Or maybe both?"

Whoops, looks I shorted Hancock a d8 of healing when I made my post! Let's fix that now.

She peers at the hedges to the south, trying to see if she can spot anything or anyone.

"Oh wow, the mail really does always go through," Corona blinks as the missives are handed out. "That's amazing!"

Noticing that Settie has been peering over her shoulder and staring at the inspector, Corona smiles up at her poppet friend. "It's okay Settie, that's a real badge from Nerosyan."

"Ourselves," Corona answers absently as she studies the badge, curious if she recognizes it from anywhere.

Corona pokes her head out from the wagon and waves cheerfully at the fellow traveler. "Hello, New Friend! It's nice to meet you! Like my other New Friends said, we're heading to Devil's Rest. If you're going the same direction maybe we can travel together?"

Corona looks thoughtful. "Hmm...silver...silver...silver weapons...nope! Not that I know of," she answers with a shake of her head. "That'd be really neat if we could, though."

Yeah, off the top of my head I'm not aware of any spells that grant those properties. That said, I'm by no means an expert on the system!

"I think we're just taking supplies to this Selik person and Devil's Rest must be the halfway point between where they are and where *we* are...or maybe it's the only 'safe' place in that area to meet up. Either one seems likely!"

"And is it just demons that might be lurking around or are there other things now?" Corona asks, eyes glancing downward at Eando's letter and then back up again. "Now that there's not a hole to the Abyss other nasty things might have started moving in to make themselves at home, after all!"

"You know, New Friends, Devil's Rest really *was* founded by an exiled Chelaxian noble," she adds after sitting in thought for a moment. "And they never turn a guest away, from what I've heard. I wonder how it managed to keep standing even during the years the Worldwound was open?"

Also hi, thanks for your patience, I'm back from my convention and should be ready to go! I believe I have all of the relevant things updated and filled out as well.

A young woman with dirty-blonde hair and pale green eyes wanders into the room, a rather dreamy and vague expression on her face. Her simple leather armor creaks slightly with her movements as she looks around. A symbol depicting a woman dancing on the moon hangs from a chain around her neck.

"Hello New Friends! I'm Corona. It's wonderful to meet you," she beams, sticking out her hand. "It's always nice to work with Old Friends but it's even better to work with New Friends, so they can *become* Old Friends. And then we have more friends!"

Anyone unfamiliar with the young woman might notice that she uses the word 'we' - but she appears to be alone. That is, until a little creature that looks like a crude doll made of wicker and wood slowly emerges from the woman's backpack. It looks around, expression unreadable.

Honestly, it's a little unsettling.

Corona Meridian, 3rd Level Cosmos Oracle~

I have neither played nor GMed this scenario before.

While Corona doesn't have any specific character connection to diabolic themes, she does rep for the Vigilant Seal :)

(Slight disclaimer - I'll be out of town at a convention in the mountains of NC from tomorrow through Sunday evening so I wouldn't be ready to start playing until then. If that's a dealbreaker, I completely understand!)

This character would also be interested in Inheritor's Rite when/if someone decides to run it and has an open spot :)

Tableplop itself is fine and it wasn't too hard to get a few basic things set up once I fiddled around with it. Perhaps it's an age thing (because I'm certainly no Luddite) but I'm just getting to a point where it annoys me to have to make yet another account on another website, especially when I'll likely only end up using it a small number of times.

In other news, I think this is where I (and Corona) will make our exit. I've had a great time playing with and GMing for everyone but I'm finding that I just don't have as much time to post as I used to and when I do have the time, I either don't have the energy or find myself preferring to spend said time on other things. So for now, I think it's best that I cut down on my PbP activity. Thank you all again for being such a great group and hopefully I'll see you around on the forums in the future.
