** Official Statement of Coordination and Support **
I'm Coffee Dragon and I fully support and approve of this message and recruitment, as stated above. :)

What are your feelings on kobolds? They are small and pop up anywhere.
Core races only.
And yes, kobalds DO pop up anywhere, like, all over this adventure.
So sorry, but no.

Ok, so after our discussion, GMM, I took another look at my application idea, and went a slightly different way with my Champion of Sarenrae, though still the same core idea.
Brahom
Champion / Redeemer / Field Medic
Brahom was born the son of adventurers who were driven by both ego and conscience to participate in the great wars set at the Worldwound (or somewhere similar if the timeline doesn't match for the start of the game). As such, when he was a still child, he was left in the care of his Aunt Zarishu, a herbalist. Sadly, his parents never returned.
Still, the boy grew up stong and reasonably happy in Sandpoint, and at the urgings of his aunt, a stout follower of the goddess Sarenrae, Brahom spent a good deal of time at the Cathedral. Eventually his good nature and talents showed him to be a promising candidate for the church of the Everlight.
There he learned the ways of the Dawnflower, as well as the ways of combat, medicine, and was eventually chosen to act as one of the Champions, a Redeemer, of the Healing Flame.
Proud of his accomplishments, Brahom still has a fondness for the more simple days of his childhood, and he at times spends time with his friends that were accepted into the ranks of the Sandpoint Guard. (Where, to be honest, he had thought he would end up, career-wise)
Wow. Interested. Huge fan of KotDT.
Will need to check my bandwidth, but will be watching this progress, nonetheless.
Aeshuura wrote: Those are the most common in the region. However, Keleshite leans even more into Sarenrae! ;) Yup. Read that today.
GMMichael wrote:
One thing, I play up the subraces favoritism for humans in the area. so Varisian, Chelaxian, Shoanti etc will make a difference when dealing with people.
Are those the primary human nationalities in the city? I'm considering playing as a Keleshite, but it's by no way set in stone yet.
GM Michael, considering your use of Burnt Offerings to start this off before launching into 7 Dooms, which AP player guide should we be referenceing for this? Or does it not really matter?
Awesome.
Changing to Guard rather than Deputy. Seems to make more sense if they're young when this starts.
Aeshuura wrote: Sarenrae has a presence at the cathedral and redemption is one of her portfolios... ^_^ If you don't have your heart set on Iomedae... ;) So then, it'd be:
Human
Champion - Redeemer of Sarenrae
Deputy
GMMichael wrote: You'd be fine with Iomedae, though look at some of the Champion subtypes first. I'd be inclined towards Redeemer, since it's something I've never played, but a Paladin would be always be fine.
Ok, so I'm thinking:
Human
Champion (Of Iomedae)
Deputy
Still figuring out the rest. :D
EDIT: Or would Sarerae be more appropriate considering it's set in Sandpoint?
Experienced at PF1e, VERY new to PF2e, but willing to adapt and learn.
ABSOLUTELY want in on this if at all possible.
Will update soon on the character basics I'd like to submit.
I might be interested, would be willing to play a rogue/skilled type, but I know next to nothing about PF2e. How similar is it to PF1e?
GM_Drake wrote:
Any PF class restrictions?
Pretty sure available classes will be all CORE, along with Alchemist, Gunslinger, Magus, and Oracle.
Haven't decided if I'll allow any unchained variants yet.

but in a way that might be good as the Character creation rules were a bit non-standard, but were thought out for an old school module, fixed some of the feat tax (without Elephant in the Room being used), and incentivized taking feats that generally get passed over, and to pick traits and background skills that worked with their character's backstory....
Just might swipe a few of your ideas in there. Good stuff.
Whatever happened before, I certainly have no plans of walking away from this adventure, RHMG, and I'd be more than willing to favorably consider the characters that were going to be a part of it with you, as part of a new recruitment for THIS game. (Doesn't mean no one else should apply. Just that I would take a serious look at people left behind.)
However, I'm not quite ready for an actual recruitment yet. Seems I've misplaced my physical copy of the adventure and am going to have to order a new one from Amazon. Yeah, a PDF could suffice, I suppose, but I've always prefered an actual hard copy of a module when I've run stuff...mostly tabletop, but you get the picture.
BTW, All the suggestions for locales are much appreciated guys!
Have a great time, folks!

Usually I'd agree with you, SD, but not this time. The setting I'm going for is a bit more "Dalelands" ('Realms) or "Keoland" (Greyhawk) than Ravenloft. But I appreciate the suggestion.

Evil Grows beneath the Earth
Why should anyone travel the cracked cobblestones of the Old Road? The fortress that once cast its shadow across the road does so no longer - some whisper that the earth swallowed the fortress whole in an age long past. Four brave adventurers resolved to discover the truth and set off down the Old Road, but alas, they never returned.
"The Sunless Citadel" is the first in a series of eight stand-alone adventures for the Dungeons & Dragons game. This carefully crafted adventure, designed to challenge 1st-level D&D heroes, follows a path to a mysterious dungeon where evil has taken root, and a terrible tree and its dark shepherd plot in darkness.
...and I'm contemplating running this in 1e Pathfinder. Just wondering if anyone else would be interested?
The little that I'm SURE of as I ponder this venture:
1. 1e Pathfinder
2. Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Halfling, Human, and might consider Cat-Folk. Maybe.
3. Start at 1st Level. 20 pt Build
4. Full HP at 1st, then roll or 1/2 HD +1 thereafter.
5. Starting Gold is roll or Average + 10gp.
6. Expecting to take 5 - 6 characters
7. Set in Golarion, not sure exactly where just yet. (Suggestions?)
8. If I go ahead with this, I'd only be offering THIS adventure for now. Would be NICE to play some of the other adventures in this series afterward.
9. Would be looking for a reasonably balanced and heroic party of adventurers. NO evil characters, though questionable morals are allowed. Don't have to be goody goodies, but as I said, Heroic.
10. This is NOT a Recruitment here. JUST a query to see if anyone else would find this to be potential fun.
So, more Indianna Jones and The Mummy Returns and less Call of Cthulhu, yes?

Gnome Magic is fine to take. How goes the rebuild from rogue to sorcerer?
Awesome!
The character write up goes well and will be done by/on Saturday. I'm glad now that you weren't a fan of the rogue version. I like the sorcerer better! LOL I got busy with work and a couple of kid events for my teenage daughters who are finishing up their school year.

Looks like a solid application. It looks like you have a couple extra racial traits - it looks like you took Focused Study (in place of Bonus Feat) and Low Light Vision (in place of Skilled), but then you have 4 bonus racial abilities (rather than 2): Fey Magic, Fey Thoughts, Darkvision, and Hardy. Could you clarify?
Thanks for looking over my submission! Happy to clarify.
You are correct in that it does seem like a lot. I’m totally fine with a carved out version, but the ability says, ”A human can take it in place of skilled. A human who replaces skilled with fey magic also gains fey thoughts and low-light vision.” here (link). So I think I get low light vision, fey magic, and fey thoughts from the loss of skilled.
If that seems like too much, happy to pare it down to two of three, or even one of three. Just let me know your preference. Trying to broaden him a bit. Not sure if we're going to do any water at all, but if we do, he'll have a trick or two up his sleeve.
Similarly, I was looking at Gnome Magic for my Sorcerer Fortunato, and that too, seems a bit too much. I could pare it down, or only take the (1) racial ability, or just skip it altogether. Just checking, though. Figured it couldn't hurt.
Gnomes add +1 to the DC of any saving throws against illusion spells that they cast.
Gnomes with Charisma scores of 11 or higher also gain the following spell-like abilities: 1/day—dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation, and speak with animals.
The caster level for these effects is equal to the gnome’s level. The DC for these spells is equal to 10 + the spell’s level + the gnome’s Charisma modifier.
Definitely Sorcerer - Seeker with pretty much the same background. Should have it up by this weekend.

Apologies, looks like I started making notes to reply on the fantastic fortunato, but never finished them up. I do need to consider how Eldritch scoundrel interacts as a free archetype. Not saying no at this point, but gaining six level progression casting is a substantial boon.
No worries, and I completely understand. Would a Sorcerer with the Seeker archetype be better? I'm not going for a broken or munchkined character.
Barring all that, if the full caster idea is a bit much for the 1930's, perhaps a different character, perhaps a Monk might be a better choice for my application? I have a few ideas in that area...
...or maybe mine is too close to the two of yours. Maybe I'll go Sorcerer with Seeker archetype instead.
Sorry to monopolize the thread, but final change to a Rogue - Eldritch Scoundrel archetype. Perfect for a stage magician technician who discovers a true knack for magic.
Now back to your regularly scheduled recruitment.

Dotting, but rough sketch is that he's a moderately charismatic stage magician who has discovered over the course of a few strange adventures that he actually has magical abilities and a penchant for deciphering arcane texts. He'll be a universalist wizard.
Or maybe a sorcerer. Not sure yet.

“ Nearly half of Torag's clerics are dwarves, and although many humans have taken up his call, they only number so large among his worshipers because they breed faster and are more populous than dwarves” Apologies, Crisis' if you feel let down by my decision, but he IS taking the "Dwarf-Trained" Trait, and Blacksmith as his profession before becoming a priest. Does that help?
...and honestly, if it's a deal-breaker, I'd happily run him as a dwarf instead.
No divine caster, huh? I'd be more than willing to put in a cleric for this. Likely a Dwarf cleric of Torag, but we'll see. Suggestions?
Well, then.
J Scot Shady, kindly add Kahldek back to the list, and I'll get him finished a.s.a.p.
Sorry for any confusion.
Wait...this is still open? I thought the due date was Monday?

Forgot to role for gold.
Starting Wealth: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4, 1) = 14 x 10 = 140. Yay?
Working on a Human Warpriest of Sarenrae.
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 1) = 12 = 11
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 5) = 17 = 15
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 3) = 15 = 14
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 6) = 18 = 16
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 5) = 20 = 17
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 6) = 19 = 16
Gonna think on it. Will have something up tomorrow.
Definitely interested.

I guess I'm also in the minority, because I have fond memories of dealing with the Spelljammer stuff. Silly, but fun.
Ah well.
Strongly considering a tiefling cleric of Sarenrae.
Definitely want in on this!
Lively as a warpriest or cleric...still thinking about it.
The games sound seriously intriguing. Bravo on your work adapting them. What are the rough level ranges for each? Personally, the second option interests me more.
Yeah, pretty sure you can go ahead and post a recruitment for this...
After some thought and looking through the classes, I think my dwarf is going to be a cleric of Torag rather than a paladin. Pretty sure he'll be useful. :)
Working on a Dwarven Paladin of Torag for this. GMMichael, what's the general outlook on Torag in the Ustalav region? This isn't going to brand him as a heretic or something, is it? If so, I'd probably switch to a different diety like Imoedae...
That all said, would you prefer that we all start as an NPC class?
Definitely going to submit something for this, quite possibly a paladin. Will get on it right away...just need to read the Carrion Crown player's guide.
Carrion Crown? Absolutely!
Have never had a chance to play this one.
No rogue? Or Kender?
I might just roll up one or the other...or both perhaps...
This thread has me totally jealous and itching to join in, but I'm really not big on playing bad guys. Just ends up not being fun for me, every time I've tried it. To each their own, I say. Still, looks like it's going to be a riot, and I'll likely be lurking to see the fun.
That said, FairyGM, if you ever get around to launching another campaign, say, set in the Forgotten Realms, I'll definitely turn up for the recruitment.
Probably too late for this, but since the deadline is Friday...and who doesn't like rolling up characters? Let's give it a whirl.
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) = 11
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) = 9
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) = 11
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) = 9
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) = 14
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) = 8
11, 9, 11, 9, 14, 8
Well. Certainly seems to call for another set of rolls, no?
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6) = 17
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) = 18
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) = 11
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3) = 11
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5) = 9
stats: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2) = 7
Well. 17, 18, 11, 11, 9, 7
Certainly better. Will definitely figure something out. TBD

HUGE Nero Wolfe fan. I've read all the Stout books and most of the Goldsborough ones.
And no, GM. No build posted yet. Working on it.
Also, while I'm leaning towards the cleric role, if someone else REALLY has an idea that covers that spot, I'm willing to play something else. Not locked on anything yet.
Wouldn't be unhappy to play a wizard either. ;)
