Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"Some degree of selfishness simply makes sense though, and I for one am not happy with how we failed, there was little hope for us to do any better with her having been there. We should now leave as soon as possible"
i don't believe that Chris was ever told that our feathered companion failed to deliver my message

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Lesser animate sock

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris casts obscuring mist as he runs at a 90° angle to where the others were running.

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"While he's doing that, we should be either running or charging into battle, we stay here, we die,"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"I usually leave plan be to be the bomb, if for no other reason than the alliteration"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"we should probably run as soon as you start though"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

i guess it's up to the DM

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

There is a decent chance (maybe 30%) that if we ask nicely she'll let us have them, and a small chance she'll just ignore us (maybe 1-5%)

Most likely, however she'll do something either bad* or completely unpredictable (or both)

*ovbious examples include commanding the undead to kill us, animating our bodies in front of us to kill us, killing us herself, or reiencarnating us again

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Well... S$!+...

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"I just want to know exactly where they are, and makeing it more difficult for any wannabe necromancer from animating it, powerful magics could probably return the body to life, then we could have some psion switch us into the body."

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I would figure they'd still be mostly intact (though yes to the eggs) after less than 24 hours, unless some kind of large scavenger/predator got ahold of it, unlikely given the undead, unless the undead themselves had gotten ahold of it

I remember reading about a mostly intact wholly mamoth body found in a swamp

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"that risk is there wherever we go, for the rest of our lives a caster of that tier of power could find us and kill us with the same degree of difficulty it takes you to make breakfast, and she's far from the only person alive who's that strong! but there is no point to living a life consumed by fear, I chose to live my life actively, if I die doing so then so be it, everybody dies eventually. I'm not one to waste time dithering about. I see a problem, I take action to fix that problem. and besides, you speak as though you're the only one to have fought a zombie before, healadj, my sword was made by angles to combat them and demons,"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"Right, the first threat is unlikely to be there, and if she is, we run, the second threat isn't an issue so long as we tackle it intelegently, running and attacking as required, personally even a single piece of my body would be enough for me, magic can restore it to a complete body, and from there options are opened, but I'd prefer enough to prevent her from reanimating my corpse, can you imagine that, having to fight the rotting copy of your former selves, and ovbiously getting the whole thing woul be ideal"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris looks up from his notes "I for one would like our first step to be recovering the bodies we were not capable of doing so before, then having them where we know where they are, buried next to some landmark for example, spend a day doing that, gathering all of the bodies that we can, then move on to the lizardfolk camp"
i though I remembered posting that I was carrying my body as well but I can't find where I said that

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Work is kicking my ass, plus I'm not sure what Chris could really add here

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I thought I fixed my sheet already... Huh... Apparently I didn't... I remembered doing so...

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I get no respect I tell yas, no respect Nuuk Nuuk nyuk

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Well, no funnier than usual anyway

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"The letter to my dad should be a step in the right direction as far as a long term solution goes, but, I'm not sure how much help he'll be, it could be anywhere from inviting us to his protection (so long as we can make ourselves useful) while he looks for a cure, to sending a team of adventurers to quietly get rid of us, but both of those are equally unlikely...most likely he'll tell us to continue hiding, and maybe give us some info on what's going on, maybe give us some equipment, maybe he'll discretely look into things that could bring us back, but they'll probably be at the end of some dangerous dungeons" Chris sighs "now if my brother were the one transformed he'd waltz back in there under some kind of illusion, and between the two of them he'd be fixed within the month and no one would ever have suspected a thing..." He sighs "other long term help could be found in hats of disguise... Any of you know how to craft magic items?"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Swahili maybe?
Any ideas for goblin?

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I love how the die roler seems to have favoritism
It's hilarious
@zervis: I generally use actual draconic for draconic (I know of two full languages for that)
But I use Gaelic for Sylvan, and either German or Russian for dwarven, I would use Tolkien dwarven but they have weird lettering systems
Hmm what to do for goblin...

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

chris is nearly as well equipped as he was before, his clothes are a little snug in some places and a little loose in others, but generally he's one of the ones best off here, so he won't be complaining

Fray Ansel wrote:

Fray finishes up his alchemy and begins putting his kit away.

"Well, as you all have surely guessed by now, I seem to have had my alchemy kit on my person this entire time. My horse is not completely necessary at this point, though I do have a lot of equipment and items of convenience in the pack saddle. I have figured out a way to retrieve the horse, or at the very least, the goods on it." Fray swirls the contents of a small vial so everyone can see. "I plan to pick up some necessary materials in town and retrieve my horse. Assuming some hooligan has not claimed the horse for his own and is less than agreeable concerning returning my goods, I may... have to convince him." A wicked smile crosses his face.

"If anyone needs anything, I may be able to acquire it. Just be sure to speak up before I head out."

chris hands him a letter sealed with red wax "I need you to deliver this either to my home or some official currier, do not break the seal or read the contents, it bears my signet and it is important that my father get this message"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris makes several drafts of the message he is to send to his family and crumples up all but the last one, before heading to sleep, waiting for whenever his watch is if there are any left

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris is confidant enough in his own masculinity not to care

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Naw even if they have a sheath, that's still really sensitive, and the sheath might be somewhat visible, that and it comes out of it's sheath when aroused...

Zveris Pilvo wrote:

I think we're all just politely ignoring the fact that we're all naked.

Zveris was fairly short before he became a 6 foot something lizard with a tail, so the few articles (few to no shirts) of other clothing he had wouldn't really fit anyone. Maybe the Tavi can fit some with creative tying, but I don't know if anyone else can at all.

actually the clothes I described on my character were loose fitting robes and a black leather vest

He didn't get much bigger I figure it all fits, maybe not the shooes though

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Well he is crazy, but it's not a bad crazy
An marek, I thought that the sidekick was supposed to be a girl?

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Huh, knowledge local (or as I like to call it knowledge: humanoids) seems like it's proving to be a lot more useful than it usually does
Glad you guys are trained in it, with all the tidbits you're throwing around maybe I'll put a rank in it next level

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Power attack is a feat that martial characters take when they can't think of something better

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I have seen the error on charisma, given there is no mechanical difference between an 11 charisma and a 10 charisma I didn't figure it vital that I fix it immiedietly, but I said I would fix it when the DM pointed it out to me (and I ignored it when others later pointed it out)

Huh weird on the skills, I probably didn't remove all the skills from when this profile was gestalted with alchemist, I'll fix it over the weekend
People looking over my sheet is annoying, espically when they aren't the DM, but you did catch something, so thanks I guess.

Edit: that probably came accross as rudeer than intended, sorry super tired from job

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"He might know something, or know someone that knows something, but transmutation isn't exactly his strong suit, that would be divination."

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"as I'm sure you know, was trained in magic by some of the finest minds in the country* and my father is the court wizard of the jarl** if you don't want to tell me because you feel it's none of my business, then say so, but don't insult my intelligance" in all your dealings with him, this is the first time he's spoken back to you... It's probably just stress

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"Now that that's mentioned, I'd also like to know what everyone else was doing there, pardon me if you've already said, the trauma involved in dieing kinda plays merry hell on your memory" by contrast he seems much calmer, almost bored.

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris raises his hand to nonverbally indicate that he could now see in the dark,
When they go over to the former denizin of his satchel he looks on in intrest, getting up from his book to come over.

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris looks disapointed at the rodent's departure but shrugs and goes to his spell book to study it while he mulls over what his letter should say

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

When they get to the building Chris finds a seet near a table and opens up his bag to grab a book on magic and to let the chinchilla out, he then casts a prestigitation spell to cleen and dry it's fur, and to improve it's smell. He then calmly begins speaking to the small animal, "for now this is home I guess, and for now it's safety, tomorrow we need to set about becoming stronger and reversing this effect on us, I want to find some way to send for my father and brother, make sure they don't worry and make sure they have some kind of lie prepared, maybe give some kind of help, advice maybe"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I cannot read the labels on my phone...

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

My skill bonus is +4, what would the modifiers for the outfit I mentioned be?

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Chris leaves his sword outside of his sheath to provide light, using the other hand he casts a few cantrips to clean his outfit.

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

My normal outfit has most of my body, to include my mouth covered by cloth, and I wear a large hat that shades everything else
Unless people got close they wouldn't see much, nor suspect anything really
The problem is that I didn't invest heavily in disguise, it wasn't in character prior to start of game to put more than one rank in it.

1) humans are not entirely rational beings. You're still the enemy, still kill on sight.

2) hobgoblins may not be incredibly inhuman, but they are still easy to spot.

1) depends on where you go, near hobgoblin settlements, oh definitly, farther away, maybe, maybe not.

2) goblin and hobgoblin have a whole range of skin colors,
Some are even normal human flesh colored
I rolled a D4, I'm light orange if I wear my robe and hat, I look like a human with a bad case of scurvy (a vitamin deficency)... From a distance anyway,

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

I was reading up on hobgoblins and found somethig interesting

"Of all the goblinoid races, the hobgoblin is by far the most civilized."

They also have many capable engineers and alchemists,

Hobgoblins aren't monsters in the traditional sense, in a way they're almost worse, they're the enemy army

If hobgoblins are "largely unchanged" an individual hobgoblin would likely be seen as a deserter from the enemy army, not trusted, but likely not killed on site
A group of them would be seen as a raiding party

They also look fairly humanlike

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Yes that is what I am referring to

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

He said he let us choose.

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

My favored class bonus is goin to getting more arcana

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"Probably instinct... The fact that you feel tavi instinct is troublesome though, espically given what it implies about us..."

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

Anyway onto the intro, I'm 20, I live in Tennessee, about 25 miniutes away from magic by car
it's 7:23 at time of posting
I'm a dude, I went to lee university before I had to drop out temporary ally to get down more money, I'm studying psychology (minor in bible)
Curently I work as a picker for amazon. (Night shift) last week I finally made their blue badge promotion."

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

"As to tavi, they were an engineered race, magically created to hunt Inphidians and other reptilian people, many of whom I believe were allied with them, they're a rather facinating race, but there's only about, a hundred, maybe a hundread and twenty of them left, and to get proper long term survival you need at least 500, though short term survival can be managed, apparently elves can get by in smaller numbers, and humans can manage so long as there are other races that are compatible, but anything else you need more. Anyone else at a lost for what they are? I remember most of you from my studies"
He turns to Frey "I'm pretty sure there are nine hells, not seven, you might be thinking of heven"

Male (M) Hobgoblin magus 3

then why is their to hit two higher than standard?
