The town of Sandpoint is getting closer and closer. Autumn is just beginning, and the weather is nice. For those of you who have traits that place you inside town, its the perfect time of year for a festival.

I hope everyone has had a chance to look at the players guide.

I know you have had some help making your characters, but I would like to see everyone try and use the formatting to avoid hiccups once we get in game. There is a link in the first post that will show everything. Robert posted a useful guide here also.

  • I want to be sure everyone knows how the dice roller works.
  • I want everyone to know the difference between out-of-character commentary and "in character speech".
  • You might need to change and upload pictures like the two in this message, I'll post a battle map when combat starts; then we can use it to move on our turns. Imgur works great for me, but as long as it works I'm not picky.
  • I want everyone to know how to use the spoilers.
    whole party:
For things not everyone would know, or specific details.

I appreciate everyone's work and patience, only a few more things to finish before we arrive at the
town of Sandpoint.

A few things I almost forgot to mention.
•Max hit points for first level.
•Max gold on character creation.
•No evil alignments for this campaign.

I'm going to go ahead and throw in a second 1d4+1 to make the build points closer to the standard 20. That should give everyone between 18-24 to work with.
Sorry if that messes anyone up, but it should help in the long run.

Thank you, here is a link to the player's guide.
It looks like things are getting started nicely.

Ryder:
It looks like you still have a +2 to spend on one attribute of your choice because you are a half elf. It looks good so far.

Welcome to Golarion
For character creation everyone gets 15 build points, that's the standard, Plus 1d4 to that.
So there will be a little variance to make it interesting. I want to see the rolls like this 1d4 ⇒ 2, that should give everyone between 16-19 points to spend on status, then + or - any racial modifiers.
point buy calculator
I'm not too picky about race or class, but any 3rd party stuff needs an okay first.

I would like everyone to take one trait from the campaign traits
here

as well as one additional trait
here

A thrid trait can only be taken if a character takes a drawback from
here

Ryder:
I'm probably going to need some help with this since I cant be there in person, thank you I really appreciate it.

I hope I didn't mess anything up, if you have any questions let me know.

The town of Sandpoint needs you!
It's time to build some characters, figure out how play by post works, and play Rise of the Runelords .

Only if you send me an e-mail first. I am doing this for friends it is not an open recruitment.

You can find the message formatting --> Here

Character creation:
I have kind of a sample profile if you click my name, or there are probably much better examples If you look around the forum. As long as all the info is in there, don't sweat the format.

There might be a few bumps, I'm used to tabletop, so bear with me.
Play around with it a bit, and make a post, I'll be back soon.

I'm going to have to make a character tomorrow, I want to play through kingmaker before I run it.

This sounds interesting, I will post a character soon.

How would you feel about a sorcerer draconic bloodline gold / Oracle mystery flame combination?

I want to run Rise of the Runelords for a group in person, but I haven't played it yet or read the book. I would really like a chance to join this game.

I love fallout and have been playing the games for a long time.

What kind of characters do you want for this game? This is using pathfinder rules? Are there any additions or restrictions?

I am interested in joining and I'll make a new character from scratch.

Would you like me to make a chaotic neutral fire obsessed sorcerer?

I'll make a Merfolk sorcerer if you want one.
I have never heard of or played this module and would like to try. I can post often and I will play until I die or the game ends.

I imagine a gnome or catfolk character would have a lot of personality. I can make a new character before the deadline.

I can post often, and if picked I will stick with the game until the end.

Male

I agree with Marcy, I'd post again but it would be my 2nd in a row.

Ronin will be back

Keep the faith

Male

Ronin is still with us, but he is getting ready to deploy I think. Don't give up yet, he'll be with us again soon.

Raignik is out, I sent him an e-mail with everyones best wishes.

Male

I got a e-mail from Raignik:

Sorry Draig--Life has it's ups and downs and right now is a definite down.

I haven't had the mind to notify the group as there was a break around Christmas.
I apologize deeply for that and trusted you all would move on without me if need be.

I recently got news that I have an Auto Immune disease. So I'm having a time dealing with that.

For now I don't see my circumstance changing anytime soon. And my online presence won't be regular.

Give everyone my regards.
Thanks man,
R

:D paizo is alive agian

I'm still kinda wondering about the shape of the coast, and about how many fly spells I'll need now.

but if there is a consensus I'll go with the group, what does everyone want to do?

About the walking option, does the gap get progressively closer as we get closer to the shoal?
If I took the ferry to the Temple of Meronia, is it a shorter distance to the shoal? Not sure how much I got from my last flyover.

If so I'll leave now, so I'll have the extra time to see the temple and meet up with the party on the shoal.

Male

That is WAY bigger than I thought

Does it look close enough to fly to? The Undine Shoal is on the coast right? Thats why walking is one of the options?
If I run out of time can I cast fly again?

Male

If nobody wants to fly then I'll go solo
(now that I think about it I cant blame you, in character you don't know my caster level or how the spell works)
So I can't really blame you, for wanting to be safe

Depending on how things look at the lake I might cast Invisibility and/or Shield to ensure safe travels

Male

I think Slin is the only one that hasn't posted since last night. We can get rolling as soon as we know what everyone is doing, this is what it looks like so far (to me) if we want to vote and stick together or split and explore.

Shoe leather express- Stump, Lassen

Ferry power- Marcy

Air Draig- Draig

Not really sure what everyone wants yet... feel free to correct/update

Male

Nope, but I have his e-mail in the contact list

If anyone wants to add to it don't be shy

Do you roll for Fort to resist passing out, or do you roll Will to resist "oh f&#% it"?

Male

We could split up, we might see more that way.

But only if the GM is okay with it, and we want to accept the risk that goes along with it.

Male

Would it be 5GP to the Temple of Meronia and 5 to Undine Shoal?

Is it a sort enough distance to fly there?
60 feet movement for 7 minutes
or
40 feet if it carries a medium or heavy load. does this mean one flier could carry a second person or two fliers could carry a third person?

Not sure how much weight he has already but Stump hist "heavy" @ 307-460 lbs and I hit "heavy" @ 67-100 lbs

Idk how much gold the new party members have, or if anyone is comfortable with the idea of flying by dwarf. It might be something to talk out in game, but its an idea.

Male

4cp per ale, 2 for me, one for Stump, Marcy, and Xandar(I'm assuming Arwin and Raignik have left the party and in character I don't know about Slin yet when I bought the round Lassen had not yet arrived); and 5sp for a good meal if its available here so I owe 7sp (so far as I know)

I'll still get a room, but if anyone wants to camp I wouldn't mind casting alarm on your campsite.

I'd like to know if there are any shops to visit, or if I should ask an NPC?

I came into town broke, and now I have a dead mans gold to spend. Not sure about our two newcomers, they don't the info on their profiles.

Male

I'm guessing Arwin and Raignik have left the party?

Male

@Lassen
We are actually not in town anymore, not sure if you read our game thus far; or you are just posting a little to catch up, but we are a half a day south at Lake Meronia.

Male

So does that mean Slin doesn't react? I wanted to find out if he would freak out or not.

That kills my fun lol

Male

nobody is posting? Whats going on?

Male

Haven't played with a summoner yet, looking forward to seeing it played.

Male

looks like theres no circumstance penalty or bonus, I can't wait to see what Slin does.

in my previous post I moved closer to those I was sitting next to to make it harder to see/hear the spell being cast, passers by or Slin. And a bar table is a good way to hide a moving hand casting a spell.

If anyone sitting next to me tries to get up to investigate I'll try and quietly and lightly stop you, putting a hand out or a look; but nothing to attention drawing. I'm looking for a chance to react if you start to get up. Just in case you can't tell if I cast the spell. Its up to you if you listen.

Just making my intentions a little clearer.

Also, I think all our drinks are empty now, we may all need to remedy that; or the gnome voices should be a good way to bump into Deiros.

@ Ronin
In my flight earlier did I see any other shops? The map looks like there is a lot around to see, any points of interest? Is it worth exploring?

Male

I think cannons existed long before rifles and guns. So I imagine they would at least have some kind or another.

Male

Would my character know about the animosity between gnomes and goblins? Would it be common knowledge, or should I make a check, or would I not know at all?

Male

I can only imagine how bad it would be with a gnome in the party

Male

I'm just glad the game is moving again.

@chris
Don't take this the wrong way, we aren't trying to gang up on you. We just don't understand anything about Slin. We don't have any backstory or character description. When I read Stump talk he sounds like a old biker guy I used to know that looked like Gimli. Marcy has a crass style, and Raignik sounds more like an old rambo type veteran. Even Xandar has a quiet wispy way of speaking. I'm just not sure how to place you yet is all.

Male

I was kinda wondering about XP, is the GM keeping track or are we?

Male

210gp each sounds about right

Male

Thx, I was wondering where the other thread was

How come nobody is posting? Is everyone waiting for something?

@downrightamazed
Is that a 3rd party book? I think theres a list of books we can use up somewhere. If its too powerful or can cause confusion Ronin might say no.

I want to cast Magic Missile this turn, but I just want to make sure I can.

Would we know if the altheiri are going to return fire? thats another reason i cast the spell, crossfire.
If they arent directly after us we suddenly look a lot less appealing.
How thick is the crowd? If I cast lightning are there bystanders that will get fried?
Do we know which E# is the spellcaster, or at least have an idea (ex:back row or dressed differently)?

Well we would know their current location, and unless the enemies can pass a spellcraft check they have no idea what just happened. Same with us I suppose, but if the veterans or holy men have seen this before they might know how to use it to their advantage.

You can still see 5 feet in front of you, so charging into battle wouldn't be hazardous to allies, and by the time you get there its likely there will be someone there too.

@ Mac K
yes I suppose so. Its a good place to be if we don't want to get hit though. We can draw them in, or our Melee fighters can leave and surprise them; because they cant see in. Also good if we need to run away.

Obscuring Mist

I didnt know I needed the ready action, if I make another mistake I'm sorry and let me know.

I doubt Xandar will mind the nat 20 lol

Looks like unless Xandar (wherever he is) rolls a nat 20, I've got the first move. So let me know if theres a problem with the move I posted here earlier and I'll fix it.
Not really sure where the town exit is
"per encounter" initiative sounds good to me, thats how I figured we would do it.

Not sure if I'm going first yet or not, but i wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
