Shadows of Aris - Group #1
This will be our OOC Thread from now on. You can still refer back to the old one for general talk about Aris and comparing exploits with your fellow adventurers.
Here is the game thread for our current campaign.
Here is where you'll find the General Thread we used to use.
Here is the Incomplete site for Shadows of Aris. I'm working on trying to get it updated and tooled around with new facts and stories and histories and the like.
Anything I missed?

I was wondering what everyones take on loot distribution is. I've seen it done a couple of different ways. Either splitting it based on value equally, or distributing it based on usefulness. I tend to prefer the second way, as long as it works out to be more or less equal in the long run. But I'm pretty easy about it in general. What does everyone else think?

And here I go thinking everyone just up and quit on the other thread, sneaky very sneaky XD
As far as loot goes, I figured we would basically just split it up based on need, obviously a fighter isn't going to be using a robe made for a wizard (well at least no fighters I know of) so that should go up to whoever can use it. If someone doesn't want the item then they can choose what to do with it.
I get the feeling we should be getting plenty of loot so no need to really worry about it too much.
Btw is there anyway to bookmark threads to my account? So far all I have been doing is using my "recent post" option to get back to these.

Speaking of loot how did we split up the last batch? I know I chose to leave the weapons of the guys I killed but I didn't have a problem taking the gold.
Are we just pooling all the gold together or are we splitting it evenly or what?
As far as the gold goes, I vote we just split it up; 210gp each, if my math is right.

Loot you can add when you get it.
I'll be the one to let you know when you level. When I tell you that you gained a level, that'll be when you can level up as normal (which includes all the standard stuff included with leveling; i.e. HP, Feats, Class Features). Its easier for me that way. This way all you guys really have to worry about is pulling off the dice rolls and playing the game. The mechanics are all me.

I also felt like I was on the verge of posting too much compared to some of the others, so I was holding back a bit. This is only the 2nd PbP that I've done and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.
Also, on an unrelated note: Draig, I'm thinking that I misunderstood something your character said a few posts back and responded somewhat nonsensically. Sorry about that. :P

I've been thinking about this a bit and thought I'd try approaching posting differently. I think I'll not worry so much about other people's post count going forward and use the gaps to carry on conversations with any other players who are available to post more often. The slow nature of PbP seems to make conversations seem somewhat short and inorganic anyway. Maybe this will help.
If it gets annoying though, please let me know. ;)

Marcy, I actually encourage you guys to use the gaps for conversation. Would rather give some sort of substance to things as opposed to just grind, grind, grind.
Draig, when it comes to my posting, I try to post as often as possible, but I only throw up a post when I feel it necessary to continue on. The game isn't about me more as its about you guys and your interactions with each other. Simply put, I was waiting for you guys to make a decision about where you were planning on doing.
I've given you guys all the hints and necessary tools to make the decisions that need to be made and I feel that with this group, you'll be capable of making them with little to no problem. If for some reason, I sense its going downhill as opposed to improving, then I'll say something.

Also, if you find yourself making characters alot I can highly recommend Hero Lab. It makes it super easy to get everything right.
The one program I use. Highly recommended by myself!
Also, moving beyond that, the newest post is up. Arwin and Xandar, if you guys are still around, (Xan, I know you sorta are given your post under Group 2), I need you guys to post up here and there if you don't mind, just so I know you guys are around. I'll give another day or two before I start looking for replacements. Worst case scenario, I'll throw the replacements on a waiting list. The same is going for one of the guy's in Group 2, so no hard feelings. If there's any objections, you guys have my email. Send complaints to me there.
Thanks guys.
Hope the new post is to your liking.

I have another question for the group collective, the SRD is less than helpful when the information isn't clearly posted in one of their sections.
Does anyone know if the "heavy" trait was pulled over from 3.5 for equipment? I was just looking through feats trying to come up with where I wanted to go with my guy and was curious if they kept it.
By the way if you don't know what the heavy trait is, its located in the magic of faerun I believe and basically allows you to craft a weapon or armor out of special material to give it the heavy trait. I don't know what it does for armor but for weapons it basically makes them count as one size larger and requires you to take exotic weapon prof (heavy) to use it.
No biggy if it wasn't ported, just curious.

I'm doing as best I can with what I have at hand. I had to do a full system restore to out-of-box storage so I'm relying on what I have handwritten as well as the material I have laying around the Internet to restore my setting to its former glory. Luckily, I'm OCD when it comes to my setting, so I estimate a week before I'm fully functional again.
Note: None of this will affect the PBP.

Oh no its all good, this has been by far the most engaging group I have had the fortune to play with, which may be hard to believe considering my other groups are all live. XD
You have a good balance of roll play and combat, so if you need more time between posts have at it. Quality over quantity I always say.

I've lost two good posts to browser crashes now, going to go for a 3rd in a bit
I find keeping separate windows up is pretty good. One with the Notepad or Wordpad open and pre-typing all my posts there and then one with the PBP window open. That way you can refer to anything you need before posting then copy/paste from Notepad.

So far the only one we've lost is Arwin - who's currently being replaced by Slin. Speaking of which, Slin, if you could, post in character. Thanks.
Also, taking a vote to see if you guys don't mind Deiros joining your crew seeing as how the game runs now. Group #2 is running with 7 people and Xandar only counts when he's in combat anyways. Lol. Just kidding, Xander. Lol. =P
Take a look over Deiros concept and take a vote on it here.
