Disheartened that his previous attempt to disarm the quick fey was avoided at the last moment, Calder will take a step towards the foe and once again tries to disarm him!

Barred's looking a little worn by now! Dam! And he's our most efficient fighter as of yet! This damnable grass has me slower than a slug! Guess I'll keep making my way there!!!

Calder will double move again towards the center.

Considering his options and the strange combatants they were fighting, Calder quickly holds his hand over Reidog, causing his skin to take on a scaly appearance and improving his natural armor before he steps to the edge of the entanglement.

"Someone take out the blasted fairy!!! It might be the one that's keeping up the enchantment on the grass, like the other one was!"

Reidog will get a +1 enhancement bonus to natural armor for the next minute

Calder will move behind Barred, his back to the river.

"Nice shot Barred, you seem either lucky or especially perceptive, friend. Allow me to put some emphasis on the cold* part of those cold iron gauntlets of yours!"

Calder lifts his hand and just like back at the hut, a spiral of two snake-like dragon figures made of mist emerge and entwine themselves over the gauntlet covering Barred's right hand, dissipating moments later and leaving an icy aura surrounding the weapon.

Same as before, will do 1d4 extra cold damage for the next minute

I forgot that my ac penalty has my shield counted as well, so that's another +2, altogether for acrobatics that puts me at -3, or -2 with guidance which makes it a bit easier. I can also cast guidance for the other armored people as well

Guidance will get me to a -4, maybe if we could work out a couple of aid another checks, possibly with some rope? Otherwise I could take off my armor but that might not be the best move before combat. Gm, can Calder do a perception check to see what kind of swim check it might be to cross the river that way?

"It would seem that I may...require some assistance. My armor and stature prevents me from being the most agile of warriors and it seems that trying to cross something that slick would surely put me in the river where I may sink like a stone"

Perception check if allowed?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Since Reidog was the one who stripped his gear, I'd imagine the body would still be somewhere nearby? Unless he got rid of it, but regardless Calder likely wouldn't have addressed or done anything for Thraven

Tis a good question, what should we do now? The group seemed ready to head north, and it seems likely that these gnomes speak true but how much information should we give them? Perhaps they might have more information about the lorestone, but still, these barbaric sorts can be capricious, and I certainly wouldn't count them as allies just yet.

"I am called Calder, folk-of-the-wood. Please, forgive the knight. His rather zealous nature is apparent, but he truly does mean well and will bring you no harm as it appears you have no intention to harm us. You speak of a recent evil fey having plagued this woods, do you know anything else of it? Any information would be gladly welcomed. I believe we may try to seek justice for this Hemzel if we are able, as the criminal responsible for his murder spoke of some sort of being he served...I believe the name was Lord Cymflynder? Are you familiar with this name?"

Calder stands uncomfortably, not going out of his defensive stance but also not saying anything aloud. He shifts uncomfortably, glad the paladin was on their side, for now. He was a man of few words but those words could be rather terrifying at times.

I do hope we can solve this diplomatically...

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Calder will nod gravely at Reidog after he is pat on the back.

After he casts the scroll he simply breathes a sigh of relief and says "You are very welcome, Kaya."

Once everyone starts questioning Gire a bit more, he will stay silent, shifting from leg to leg awkwardly a little further from the group.

I hope they figure out the information they need from that pixie, but I don't wish to make the situation worse. I did threaten it, after all.

if nothing happens, he is ready to "get a move on"

Hearing Geera mention a caster possibly coming this way, Calder will ready his shield and draw his whip, taking a defensive stance with the rest of the group.

After he's done performing the funeral rites, he will go back over to Geera and take the scrolls from her.

"Hmmm, I suppose I could try, as I do have the requisite magics, but I've never cast anything from a scroll before. I hope nothing goes wrong, perhaps everyone should stand back? Kaya, stand still if you'd please. Ragadahn's wisdom guide me now!"

I'm not used to casting scrolls, but I think since it's on my spell list, I'm a divine caster, and I have the ability score I just need to make a caster level check to use the scroll? If that's how it works here it goes~

Caster Level: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Calder nods at the Dwarf.

"He's right. Geera, do you have any idea what these are? I don't know, but allow me to assist some and let Ragadahn guide your recollection."

Calder makes a waving motion in the air with his hand and mutters a divine incantation.

Calder casts Guidance on Geera to give her a +1 competence bonus on a single check she makes in the next minute.

Calder then wordlessly makes his way over to where Barred is digging a hole and does his best to help, using any other tools that might have been lying around.

After the hole is finished Calder will go over to Hemzel's body. He spreads his arms wide and holds his left palm upwards, using his right to make some somatic gestures. Some water appears in his cupped hand, which he sprinkles onto Hemzel's body and forehead. He begins to chant something in a barely-intelligible language that sounds like a low, grumbling, as if two stones were being rubbed together.

For anyone who speaks Terran:
"May your next life be filled with song and glory. May you fight many battles and die with a sword in hand, and may the skalds tell legends of your fervor. May you seek knowledge and wisdom through all your lives, and when the time comes to rest for good, may you drink merrily in the heavens. I didn't know you, but perhaps our next meeting will be a more fortunate one. Rest now, Hemzel.

It sounds like he's performing some sort of simple funeral rites.

He took that solid hit from Rogar and he's still up! Time for me to get out of this hut, but hopefully I can still help!

"You're time is at hand! Surrender now if you wish to live, fool!

Calder throws down the longsword in the grass outside the hut, takes a step back, and reaches for the whip curled at his belt. He snaps it once with a loud crack and then tries to disarm the man of his axe!

Disarm Combat Maneuver: 1d20 + 1 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 4 + 2 = 13

Bonus Breakdown:
+4 from strength, +1 from weapon focus, +2 from disarm quality

Calder will take a 5ft step back out of the hut, drop his longsword in the grass (free action), draw his whip (move action), and perform a disarm combat maneuver (standard action)

Calder laughs boastfully

"HAHAHA! More than a man you say? Please! You. Are. Nothing!!!! Stonebrother, finish him!!!"

Calder unleashes a blue-white light blasting towards Reidog, similar to the one he had released upon Geera a moment before, but instead this dragon snakes around Reidog's waraxe, coating it in a layer of ice! The ice is cold but not unbearable, although it certainly feels strange surrounded by so many open flames.

Calder then says a little quieter to Geera "Geera! If you can, grab that scroll over there before it burns, it may be important! I can heal you should you be hurt!"

Calder uses a standard action to use a water blessing on Reidog's waraxe. The waraxe will deal an additional 1d4 points of cold damage. No movement this turn.

How to help out, the others seem to have a good handle on things, perhaps I could pour out some blessings? Or should I crack the proverbial whip? Well first things first, I'll have to move in. Geera looks like the least armored here. Good gracious the hut seems to be getting crowded, I hope the flames don't spread to much more!

Calder moves into the building, and as he does his hand holding the longsword begins emitting a white-blue light, and he makes a knighting motion on Geera's shoulders with the sword. As he does so he says

"May the armor of the most ancient of dragons protect you from harm and blade"

After he chants his invocation, the glow on his hand takes the form of a serpent-like dragon, curling around his longsword as it makes its way towards Geera, dissipating as it reaches her body. Starting from her shoulder, armor-like scales begin to appear all over her body, granting her a little more protection.

Calder will use a move action to get into the hut behind Geera and then a standard to use a scalykind blessing on Geera, giving her a +1 enhancement bonus to her natural armor.

Calder considers for a moment attacking the bat as it retreats to the fairy. He can feel the familiar rage and bloodlust rising up in his gut. It felt like ice in the back of his throat, but he suppresses it long enough to resist the urge to strike, instead turning towards the hut where he had heard Barred call for aid.

No, not now. Sounds like more enemies in the hut. I best go help Barred. This wrath will be better served towards a more worthy adversary!

"Barred, I'm on my way!" He shouts.

"At least those damn plants are gone, but I'd give my whole inheritance for faster legs at times like these!" he says a little quieter.

Calder double moves towards the hut.

I would love to take an attack of opportunity...if I had my weapon out! As it is, Calder has taken two double moves so far, and since he hasn't got any base-attack-bonus he wasn't able to draw his weapon as part of those movements. He also wouldn't have had any weapons drawn as he approached the hut.

Calder bats back at...the bat with a wave of his hand, annoyed. He struggles against the vines restraining him. He reaches instinctively towards the whip coiled at his belt, but then he pauses briefly.

Close quarters, then. First to kill this bat, then to break free from these vines. Kaya, though...she did say just now that she had read hesitation in the flying one. Maybe the more pleasant talkers in the group could convince her to call off the battle? I would help if I could, but I'm afraid my speech would do more harm than good. She may have useful info on what's going on with the Hemzel fellow. Is he the one she meant when she said 'someone died'?

"Yes, uh, we big folk are very stupid! Stupid indeed! I....retract what I said about your kin? And the frigid wrath of the Water Lord Ragadahn?"

He says, towards the fairy woman. To his group

"Kaya, keep speaking to her! Geera, Rogar, try speaking to her as well!"

Calder will draw his longsword (move action) and then swing at the annoying beast attacking him (standard), struggling against the plant life as it restrains his movement!

Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 2 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

A choice then, to be sure, to head towards the hut, or to face the mysterious plant-speaker man-fly? The tusked one seems able to handle himself, best head towards that thing before it does anything else tricksy!!! Dam these rigid legs, dam these grasping vines, and thrice damn this armor once again!!!

Calder shouts at the now visible creature-

"You, flying fiend!!! Stop with your strange riddles, we came to help Hemzel!!!!! Since you clearly mean us harm, I shall fight thee, but know this! You bring upon your own death this day, insect!

Calder double moves (so only 15 feet because of difficult terrain) towards the new creature.

Saving Throw

Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Calder shouts in frustration as the plant growth grows to entangle him.

"Arrgh!!! YOU BRING THE FRIGID WRATH OF RAGADAHN UPON YOU AND YOUR KIN THIS DAY"

"This is quite unfortunate then, I suppose"

Insects? Really?!?!?! I thought this was a job for warriors. Still though, the things look nasty, I do hope they don't kill the girl. Does Geera eat bugs? I wonder if it would be rude to ask. Hopefully someone else can land a hit on them with one of those fire weapons. My aim isn't quite stellar, though Geera does seem to be having some trouble. I should likely just heed the stone-brother's advice and move away as quickly as I can. Dam this armour at times like these!

Calder will double move (only 30ft since he has 15ft of movement) along the path towards the house

Calder nods at Kaya.

"Aye, I don't mind't, Ka-ya. And thanks much for the tip, Geera-Giftgiver. I'm sure it will help the warriors in our group make quick work of any fey we encounter. Your family sounds both wise and caring."

Kaya's name comes out slightly wrong, and he sort of stumbles through it.

Calder will purchase the cold iron glaive and 4 days of trail rations.

This is...an interesting group so far. The pala-deen has yet to acknowledge me as I assumed he would, and the rest of the group seems amiable. I suppose Ragadahn is a lesser-known faith in these parts. The stone-brother's manner of speaking was quite different from the others of his kin I've encountered. The frog seems quite intelligent. She will be useful if I am to requisition any texts or magics for the Dark Archive. The orc is built like a fighter, and his eyes are that of a warrior. The woman...her use remains to be seen, but if she is as charming to the hermit as she is to us, this whole affair should resolve itself quite easily.

Hmm... Perhaps....I could...no. I am no proselytizer. If they have questions about my faith then they will ask. I will not spread the name of an Eldest any further than it must go, and his apparent anonymity has done me a service thus far. T'would be best not to stir the pot...for now.

He gestures towards Rogar and Kaya after the last part.

"Heh, I apologize. everyone. I am not very good with words. But like our tusked friend, I can carry any equipment that would slow anyone else down, as I move...quite slowly myself already. I hope that will not...inconvenience any of youu."

If anyone makes the check before we leave, Calder will buy a cold iron glaive. Otherwise, he's happy to just get on the ship.

"If he is... anything like the shamans and spirit-speakers from my home then we shall have to prove both our strength and reverence of nature to earn his respect. The Serpent King shall help us with the former."

Calder pauses for a moment before continuing.

"It will be...nice to be on a ship once again, though I am sure it will be quite different from the longboats I remember....Geera, thank you for your gifts of war. May they burn the flesh of our enemies, and may their screams of mercy be pleasing to our ancestors as we strike them down.

Very slowly, a large, dark skinned, broadchested figure approaches adorned in thick, white colored scale-mail. A plumed helmet adorned with dragon-like depictions cover his face. A whip hangs at his side, next to a sheathed longsword. He carries a heavy wooden shield on his back that has an engraving of a blue ouroboros shaped like an infinity sign. Those well versed in religion recognize it as the symbol of Ragadahn, the Water Lord. He speaks slowly with a deep, sonorous voice.

"I am called Calder, I am...very far from home. It is a...pleasure to meet you all. I...hope we can work well together"

The last part seems aimed more towards Rogar than anyone else.
