Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

An image of what was once a brave, young paladin appears before you. Its voice echos, "Sign up nowww.... If you dareee...."

"There's this event... Gameday V, that mortals speak of... And there are still many slots to fill..."

With a woosh, the image vanishes from the Lodge just as quickly as it had appeared.

Taking sign-ups for 7-00 The Sky Key Solution here, start date 08/27 for Gameday V. The table is still relatively empty, and new players are welcome.

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden takes another look around the room, trying to see if there's any hints about what's down each of these mysterious passages.
Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden walks up to the pedestal, curious to investigate it.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Oh wait, Licen has a key, doesn't he?

"Licen, perhaps you might try the key you found back in the shadow room."

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

"A glorious victory!" Brayden exclaims, sheathing his sword and smiling at the others. He gets a closer look at the golem, seeing what he might find.

I take it the key that it needs is the key in that fountain, which we still have no way of getting...

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden takes out his sword and shield and swings it at the moving wooden mass.

Longsword, power attack, flanking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

We just finished up yesterday. The final boss left Maladash's gnome with 1 HP and took out a big chunk of another PC's HP, but their level 4 fighter managed to kill it in two strikes.
I'm GMing a module but otherwise won't be picking anything else up until next month.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Nah, I'm good with what the Chaos guy said. Let's get this golem. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

What's my current ability damage after that last sleep?
Oh wait, we didn't rest yet... Okay

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden stops when Mercutio holds up his hand, and uses this opportunity to quickly heal himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Good enough

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Waitwaitwait...

Brayden will also heal to full before the next round of combat.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Now that that's over, for how long did we sleep before? Long enough to restore ability damage? If not, we should continue sleeping.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Friends and family.. My side and the bride's, obviously.
Actually, mine is quite small too. It's more like 80% her family, 20% mine that will be joining us.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Haha, thanks guys. I'll be in the Caribbean with 40 others from my family.. It's just unlikely I'll be at a computer much. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

2 HP..

Brayden five foot steps and attempts to heal himself with the same wand he just killed a skeleton with.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

I'll be traveling April 29th - May 6th, so I won't be able to post at all. I'm off to get married.
Not sure if you want to bot my actions or have Brayden take a long snooze in the crypt, but I assume we won't be done the module by then.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden jumps up and readies his shield. He pulls out his wand and sends positive energy at the blue skeleton.

CLW: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

If you're not going to let me both ready my shield and take out my wand, choose the wand.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Cmon Chyrone... Positive energy should have stopped this from happening? What's this reanimation ability called? Looked on SRD, it's Deathless, isn't it? Which says that bit about positive energy.
Not sleeping in armor... Can't afford another strength/dex penalty

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden sits up, looking at Maladash. "Once again, the Paladin of Chaos saves the Paladin. Thank you." He exhales, disappointed in himself, and stands up.

"I see you were able to take care of this evil. A job well done. I am still weakened from the ghost we encountered, as is Mercutio... Let's rest, but..." he looks at the piles of bones, "Perhaps we can purify these remains first?"

Will you have me use four charges for each one, or just one if I arrange the bones in a pile?

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Let's just take random bones and throw them into that pool of keys from before. Can't reanimate if your entire body isn't there... Dibs on the femur!

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Are those skeletons' "corpses" just lying on the ground? Maybe we should move them out of the room before resting, or... would positive energy cause them to turn into dust? I've seen too many zombie movies to not know where this is going, especially with Chyrone's hinting ;)

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

GM must be hinting at something... Someone should CLW me a few times, please. Take my wand and use it if you don't have one.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Right here, in the annoying skeleton room? Brayden is already asleep anyhow.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

^ What the pale guy said. That, and someone please toss a CLW or two my way?

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

A ripple of air flowing is heard from somewhere near Brayden, followed by an awful smell.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden sure is getting quite the snooze!

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Well, the creature in question is the leader of a gang of goblins who are plotting to take over a city. The PCs went into the sewers and made their way to the boss, and I'd say she did expect to encounter the Pathfinders at this point.

She doesn't really answer to anyone but herself. Her religious beliefs aren't stated, and she's a Chaotic Evil Bugbear. I read what I could on bugbears, but they're really just another creature without much lore.

Right now, she's trying to engage the PCs in negotiations. She keeps asking them to come closer into the room so that one of them will fall into a trap, initiating combat. She's hiding this, obviously. Now, would an intimidate check cause her to reveal her tactics, or just make her admit that she doesn't really plan on negotiating with the PCs at all? Or... perhaps something in the middle of those two options.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

On an unrelated note...
How would you guys normally handle Initimidate checks?
I've got two PCs who are trying to Intimidate the 'final boss' of the game. There's no Sense Motive skill listed for the boss in the PDF, and DC on Intimidate is normally 10 + HD + WIS, in which case they'd pass the check.
I don't think an evil, final boss would just yield and all of a sudden answer questions, but I also don't want to tell them too bad, you can't do that.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden continues to snore, dreaming of a pretty halfling guide he had spent some time with in a previous adventure...

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Err... On second thought... I'll pass on the... "mist"....

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden falls to the ground from the skeleton's fierce strike.
Con roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

You know, a level 1 Paladin is really lacking in 'fun' special abilities. I can Smite Evil all of once per day.
Gimme some of that fancy mist, Mercutio.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

BAB + STR? And let's say red

Touch (wand): 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 1 = 13

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

I can already see where this is going. Can't access map right now, so just whichever one is nearest.

Brayden drops his sword, takes out his wand, and gives the nearest skeleton a bath of light.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

I wish I had forgone the Darkwood Shield and went with oh, I don't know, 15 vials of holy water? ;)
Mercutio bolded it for a reason, that's for sure.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

"More undead fiends, eh? No problem," Brayden says as he takes a five foot step, pulls out his longsword and shield and strikes at the blue skeleton.

Longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

"I'm inclined to believe that key will not work... Let's instead head into this large room." Brayden looks around for traps or evil beings while heading into the room.Am I playing alone? Come on guys, help a Paladin out.

Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

Silver Crusade

"Licen, try your key on that door."

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

I found mine just from refreshing the Recruitment forum a lot. I spend a lot of time on these forums in general. My job sometimes gives me the flexibility of being able to do this during the day, it really depends on how busy I am. That's IT for you...

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Frog God Games - The Northlands Saga.

Yes, I could, but I'd have to butcher his story. That, and we even spent time forming relationships with every other character in the party. I feel invested in that regard.

I think I'll give it another week and then decide. I don't think they'll have trouble finding another player.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Brayden takes out a torch and lights it. He begins to think about where they'd been so far. "If I remember correctly, the other door in this room cannot yet be opened. At least, not with the key Licen found. I think our only way to go right now is upstairs."

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Ah, APs... I joined Skulls and Shackles and it's been quite fun.

Spoiler:

I joined a third-party one as well, but the GM disappeared, and now we've got this new GM ...
He's basically turned it into a homebrew campaign since he doesn't have the book. I would drop out, but I'd spent a lot of time building that character's backstory, and I feel somewhat rude just all of a sudden saying, "Sorry, but I'm not having fun any longer."

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Thanks!
I'm getting ready to run a non-PFS module right now. Otherwise, I would be running another tier 1 scenario.
I have 4 games going, and I'm GMing 2 more... I think I kinda went head first into this PbP thing. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Come on, Chyrone. Are we playing this game for fun, or to nitpick the subtlety of rules?

I mean, it does say "Unless otherwise noted"...

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Are you sure?
Healing Ability Damage: Temporary ability damage returns at the rate of 1 point per night of rest (8 hours) for each affected ability score. Complete bed rest restores 2 points per day (24 hours) for each affected ability score.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

How long were we asleep for? It will affect our ability damage if sufficiently long. I could have rolled Heal as well.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

That's Ryuk, a god of death from an anime called Death Note. Somewhat of a classic, actually.

Brayden pulls out his bedroll and places it on the ground. He gets in and he sets up a torch nearby as something of a nightlight, although he would never admit to being scared.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3
Quote:
Use a Wand, Staff, or Other Spell Trigger Item: Normally, to use a wand, you must have the wand's spell on your class spell list. This use of the skill allows you to use a wand as if you had a particular spell on your class spell list. Failing the roll does not expend a charge.

I'm in favor of resting too. We can take turns standing guard if needed.

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

Oops. I forgot you need infernal!

Silver Crusade

Male Died in the Crypt of the Everflame with his fellow Paladin of Chaos Maladash PFS #205498-3

If only Brayden could Channel Energy...

Brayden stands up and looks around. He sees the ground and his comrades quite literally covered in arrows. He pulls out his wand and waves it around his friends a few times. The room grows so brightly with the energy coming out of his wand that he can now see the holes from where the arrows came out of.
