Thought that was explicitly a DnD thing because they feed off of belief. Pathfinder Gods don't need worship to live IIRC. And yeah magic definitely is a competitor, to the best of my memory that's why technological development is so slow.
Meanwhile, the tengu with the +17 in the corner, who'll be eventually running out of languages to take. Golarion probably does have the technology! Granted, it's either buried in a wreck somewhere in Numeria, smuggled into Irrisen somewhere (wait is this after or before Reign of Winter), or it's in the middle of the Mana Wastes. There's probably a printing press, at the very least, in Alkenstar.
Yeah, I just figured since tengu is an option that I could go all the way admittedly. That, and an anarchist proctor feels fitting to toppling anything Cheliax. Originally the character was Witch/Cleric/Mystic Theurge but... that's a little wonky so I figured just going Proctor is probably the best idea.
Oh, didn't write down trait reasoning... and I'm only just now realizing I accidentally put down a 3rd party trait? How did I miss this?! Anyways, traits adjusted: Self-Taught Scholar: Bate essentially just hijacked a common Chelaxian practice, binding oneself to hell in exchange for power, and rewrote a few parameters and rules of it to bind themself to somewhere that isn't hell - basically as opposite you can get from Hell barring literal Elysium. Witches aren't really taught in universities like wizards are either, so they've had to do with what they can scrounge and decypher. (On the mechanical side, Linguistics becomes a CS) Pattern Seeker: Language, while it may change from decade to decade, is at its core just a bunch of patterns that govern how people communicate with each other. So, naturally, a character that can probably get the gist of a document in a language they don't even know (+18 to decypher)... would naturally be kind of obsessed with them. I have some bits planned out, but only really Alertness (Sage familiar axes that) and Monitor Obedience to qualify for Proctorhood.
Yeah, I picked the languages that felt most important (and Jistkan because obedience), but as long as it doesn't happen at 1st level, they can pick up languages as needed since they get two per level up as a Tengu. If you need to satisfy the Protean requirement all that's needed is a little fudging of the familiar's CR. :)
Violant here! Here's the previous submission for a different Hell's Rebel Campaign. I was originally going for a Witch/Cleric, but I decided to just go with Pure Witch for this version of the tengu... might decide to dip into the Proctor Prestige class if allowed, though the requirements are a bit wonky. Yes, you read that Linguistics Skill right. +17 Linguistics at level 1. +18 to forge documents.
My character, aside from potential roleplaying examples, should be finished. I plan to play the character as a most-of-the-time subdued Chaotic Neutral, befitting of a [future, probably after level 3] Cleric of a CN god with a following consisting of linguists, librarians, archaeologists, historians, and poets.
Crunch and basic questions should be done, I'll likely add some roleplaying samples later. Anyways, I would have gone for a Ganzi proper instead of mere fluff, but between the -2 to INT and the lack of extremely absurd potential for document forging, I knew I had to pick a Tengu. The reason I picked Ydajisk here is because of the connection to Irori with the Pillars of Knowledge Pantheon in 2e, along with the group of Irorians that just got wiped off the face of the earth in Kintargo a while ago, leading to a chaotic Ganzi-Tengu. (That, and your average Joe doesn't really know about the Protean Lords as much as they do, say, Milani or Cayden)
Have a ranged bomber! Zergrur Spellbane is mostly done, I plan on touching up the background and so on later, but he's a hobgoblin with no qualms about murdering some Ironfang members. High Stealth so as to not associate with the party for their benefit. Don't know why this was my second idea after the Kitsune, but here it is. |
