It looks like Balazar has dropped off and is now AWOL. :(

Is there any other characters that we are missing?

Note: If someone brought a mining proposal or whatever they are called... mining stake... costing 200 gp... (you could subtract the gold from your character sheet and add the mining stake to your equipment) We could then know where the mine is located. Presently no one saw the mine in 11 when they explored the Hex. So if no one has a mining stake then when riding through the hex I will do perception checks but it will be unlikely to see it as you ride by, DC 30.

Mining proposal... no
mining stake... no
mining deposit... IDTS

I'm sorry, I've been extremly busy lately. I'll try to catch up shortly.

My son had a birthday party and my wife is sick and my daughter woke up half a dozen times..

Thanks Koldur of the Axe for working with my character concept. I know it's a hard sell but what good would 20Cha be if he could not sell himself. I will try not to belabour his introduction so we can get to adventuring, but I also want it to be realistic.

@gm what will the next adventuring party look like (give or take), so I Halseen can figure out how to mechanically work with these guys.

2 raging fighters, a raging ranger, a ranging paladin, a raging skald and a raging wizard and you :).

Enlarge person and haste will be awesome for every one of us. My song already provides enchantment bonus to strength so bull's strength won't be great. We are rather limited in our options for crowd control.

I wasn't talking about taking the position away from Sable. Just wondering if he'll continue to be with the rest of the PCs on adventures\ex0loration.

I do 80%+ of my posts from phone regardless. Dice rolling is fine once you get used to it.

Halseen Surtova wrote:

Mostly caught up on the build so far and I like the plan. In this style game I'm all for the farms, mines, magic item production and anything else that builds the treasury.

I may be to new to get a vote and that is ok but the I like LG I like the idea of the city being unique in that way.

Thanks for tracking all the kindome building!

On another note Halseen will be taking craft wondrous item at 5, well that is the plan I don't know if other people have craft feat and would prefer me to take something else. But, I'm happy to make thing for folks if need be.

Great! I was agonizing over whether I should pick that or something else... Which reminds me:

@Wolf: Can I take Master Performer despite not having worked for the kithordian academy? Or perhaps Balazar could have gone there to study for a while before returning to Johanna...

The only thing that matters is your stats. It's kinda wierd that way. Being a spymaster is not the same as actually doing spying. That said, Jevar would make just as good spymaster as marshal. If you rather want that position, you could switch.

I would greatly prefer if everyone were at the council already and got a position now rather than in 6 months. That might be weeks or months away.

With 6 other PC's, will Sable still be a PC? 7 players is on the high side if we're all adventuring together (not that we have to do that... But it would be fun to bring the whole party).

Also, how does a Surtova member work out with the princess?

Best role for Halseen might be magister. It'll be awkward to rearrange that role though...

Don't we get extra 6 BP if he's treasurer?

Apologies for the silence, it didn't update for me since Thursday (It seems to be working again though. Seriously Paizo, please don't be so buggy >.<)

Lol, I got pinged with a PM as I was writing.

If you ever hit the X button next to "unread" messages you unsubscribe from a thread. Not sure if that's what you've done, but I know I've done it in the past and missed the fact that there were updates.

Oh, I completely glossed over that part... As long as Balazar is singing, you can just choose to not accept it on any given turn. With that you might not even need moment of clarity...

Since you mention moment of clarity, are you going to take more barbarian levels to get access to rage powers then?

I don't like the idea of waiting 6 months, since there might be plenty of play until we get to that point.

For cat's grace... I could be wrong, but I think most of us are fairly close to the max dex allowed by their amour. Though of course that's not a problem if you're targeting yourself :).

Now that Helferick is here, we should probably work him into some position.... Treasurer would probably be best, but magister or spymaster could fit as well. I guess we'll have to adjust the outcome of the rolls if that's called for.

Note that I meant for Johanna's tiger to be called Sable, I just googled tiger names and that came up as one I liked...

Balazar nods towards Koldur. "With all due respect master Koldur. While keeping forces in reserve makes sense for a battle, it does not make as much sense for filling important jobs."

He then turns towards Ernost, Lady Jasrella and lord Christian alternatingly. "If Ernost does not wish to be spymaster, but Lord Christian D'Elagant does, I see no harm in swapping who's in charge of the positions. Christian will surely prove able and having motivation will go a long way in such a position. Though let him speak for himself. As Johanna said, we're not here to decide for everyone, but rather with everyone. Though about those other positions Ernost mentions, there are already others who would fill those. Jevar and Reknar, what do you think of the issue? Are the positions suitable for you?"

Ugh, sorry about the name mixup. I should have come up with a better name for the mounts :(.

Welcome Helferick! Good to see you here.

Note that bull's strength doesn't stack with the 3rd level ability from totemic skald. Though for now the bonus is larger...

Do you plan to go into crafting? I'm considering picking up craft wondrous item at 5th, but if someone else are getting it, I got other stuff I really want too. Getting the magic items you want in kingmaker without anyone doing crafting might be hard. For example I really want the bard (and skald) item Three reasons to live: http://aonprd.com/MagicWondrousDisplay.aspx?FinalName=Three%20Reasons%20to% 20Live

I'm curious how you managed to get armour on a wizard, that's not something you see every day. Will you be able to benefit from raging song as well?

Edit: Ah, I see that you picked a level of barbarian, that answers most of my questions. Casting spells while raging will be difficult since barbarians can't just use mad magic like a bloodrager would be able to. But I guess furious metamagic is an option.

Balazar (and probably most of the rest of the party) would be very happy if someone could buff him with enlarge person.

Yeah, it's no problem to see it.

You've rolled quite a bit ahead. It might take a while to play up to that point. I assume we aren't playing day by day, but doing a time jump of 6 months is a lot as well...

First month we build a farm, a mill and the fort and new people join us. Do we have time to do exploration in addition? Anything else happening or that we should be doing?

I'm sorry for taking so long to get back up to speed. I'll try to post at least once per day going forward.

Finally Balazar comes into the room. He's practically running into the room. He is a massive half-orc with dark hair, sun tanned skin and plenty of muscle. A well-polished breastplate protects him and he wears a fine cloak on his back. There are some weapons strapped to his back, but he also carries on in his hand. A massive bardiche forged out of cold iron. It might look odd that he carries the weapon upside down, unless one studies the weapon closely to notice that it's actually a guitar with strings all along the length of the haft.

He bows with a flourish after entering toward the princess. "I'm pleased to see you here Your Royal Highness." Then he turns towards Johanna. "Seeing you my love always brighten up my day, no matter how often I gaze upon you."

"As you know. I was dealing with the animals... Sable was rough to handle as always. Then, on the way here... There were a few people gathered around a boy playing a lute. I couldn't just pass on. Then there was a crowd. You know how it is." He strikes a cord on his guitar, the sound reverberating through the room, as if that explains everything.

We're one BP short of building a theater + expansion + farm, is that correct? Would the theater give a discount for the fort retroactively?

What other alternatives are there? I understand what you propose, but I don't understand what other things we might be able to do. I'll try to read through the rules on my own.

That said, if you can play music at a theater, it would be quite fitting for Balazar. Get ready to rock... His weapon is literally a rock guitar. Should I put a point in sing, or perhaps you can do it Johanna so we have someone to sing when he plays? If you put it, I can use ghost sound in addition to playing to enhance and expand the sound.

The whole party is good, so we should be some kind of good alignment. If we can't choose NG, we should go for LG.

Balazar is half-orc. Technically her mentor would be his stepfather\adoptive father, his biological father was an orc. I did post a brief idea of his background above. If Wolf wants, Balazar's father could have escaped with his life and we could encounter him somewhere down the road...

I like the idea of kingdom building, but I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up with the actions or the rules. Would be nice if you post about the various decisions so we can try to give our opinion on them if we're able

Sable is a gmpc, so he would be in it. Jevar also said he was interested in continuing not that long ago. Might be an idea to make a separate thread asking for people to join if we need more (but I think 5 is ok).

I haven't had time to look at the backgrounds further. Any thoughts on it Johanna?

Hi, good to be here. I think first we want to figure out where Balazar and Johanna come from. I like the idea of coming with the princess. Maybe we have done work for her elsewhere before or maybe one of us grew up with her (Johanna?).

For my character, I figure his mother married a paladin of Iomedae that saved her from rape by orcs. Together the two of them would have raised Balazar to be very much unlike his father. That paladin could have been Johanna's teacher or mentor.

Balazar would have learned about the way of the holy warrior from his stepfather, but not found it a calling true to his heart. Instead he would have felt the draw to music, perhaps from his mother or from some Shelynites from a neighbouring temple.

As mentioned in the discussion thread. The role of dual rulership would fit Johanna and Balazar quite well. I built the character with that in mind when I saw that none of you really had the stats for it.

I definetly want to play out at least some meetings and getting to know people, though we probably have to organize some stuff here as well. I figure it makes more sense to settle on the details of the colony after we've joined you.

Oyzar's character here. I'm mostly done with the crunch, but haven't had time to iron out fluff...

Good luck finding a party that'll make a great game Wilken.

I only mentioned it because Nilam chose Desna for his goddess, but looks like that won't be a problem.

Can a paladin follow a CG goddess?

I've actually played a paladin of Desna in another game, but that required me to take a trait in order to do so as CG. Anyway, in that game I came up with the following code. Feel free to use, disregard or modify it if you want.

Quote:

I will seek to do good deeds before all else and let my example be an inspiration for others.

I will never give up hope, no matter how grim a situation or divination might be and it's my solem duty to try to change the outcome of dire portents.
I will always speak my mind and let noone put bonds to my words and I will fight for other's right to have their say as well.
I will not let anyone imprison me or any other unjustfully and will seek those who are confined without good cause.
I will do whatever is in my power to protect the innocents from direct attack. I will fight with all my power against those that threaten the common folk, especially those that seek to prey on dreams.
I will seek to stop the evil agents of Lamashtu and others I find attempting to do evil deeds.
I will always seek new experiences and travel the endless paths of the world, even if it's only a short trip around a settlement I will not let myself be shackled down to remaining stationary and without new input.

Somehow paizo have managed to make archtypes for LN and NG as well as antipaladin archetypes for NE and LE, but none yet for CG.

I picked the vainglory drawback, which I think is extremely fitting for the character flavor-wise. On the sheet I put it right below the traits.

Looks like there are a lot of applicants for every role, but especially for martial ones. Though imho roles doesn't matter that much as a party with 4 martial characters can work just as well as a party with only 1. I feel like the only required role is to have someone capable of some sort of healing (of which there are four submitted), you don't need someone with trapfinding for example as anyone can detect traps with perception and dispel magic can deal with magical traps. What'll decide if you'll pick 3 or 5 players?

Oyzar here, finally done with my character. I've recycled an old alias, just disregard the unchained part (though I guess it could fit as a nickname). Hope the character is to your liking. Though I must warn you that the background starts off rather dark.

I ended up also going VMC cavalier, though in my case for order of a flame. Given how individual the order is, it's not really as part of an organized unit, but rather as a promise to his mother. It does fit the flavor of the character extremely well. I wish the other VMCs were as interesting as that of the cavalier. We already have two examples of it here and Order of the Star fits very well for a paladin, cleric or life oracle.

I might make him worship Ragathiel down the line. I think it would be quite interesting if he got converted by the party cleric to follow the General of Vengeace. Celestial/Defic Obedience Ragathiel is quite cool and fitting, even if Balazar doesn't end up going into any of the PrCs.

Oyzar's character here, though I'm not done with the full background writeup quite yet. I'll present that in it's enterity soon enough I hope (though I did mention some points from it). I think I'm mostly done with mechanics (except for minor mundane gear). I guess you might want to look over mechanics to speed things up.

I'm reusing an old unused alias, sadly I can't rename it to "Judge Balazar the Red", but I hope it's fine regardless.

Hit points are maxed for first two levels, then 75% after that.

In other news Balazar is a bit more fleshed out.

When exactly is the deadline? I would like to flesh out things a bit more (familiar and personality). I'm considering switching out invisibility for stonecunning and camouflage as they both seem really flavorful (and also fitting mechanically when they apply, the question is only how much they will).

Well, I finally have a character of sorts. Not as well developed as I would usually like, but hopefully it's sufficient.

Oyzar's character here. I'm done with mechanics, but fluff still remains. I might change up alias and picture.

I'm only planning on taking a single level of rogue, instead going into wizard and arcane trickster down the line. He's already functional as a skill monkey and in melee, but will naturally pick up more knowledges and spells both for offense and defense as he gains levels.

The arcane adventure's chronicle he has managed to steal will be his inspiration for going towards wizard.

Too bad Agile Dancer is a social trait, otherwise I would have picked up another trait to improve his bluff, diplomacy or both. I don't suppose i could treat it as another category instead?

Balazar mutters a quick couple quick cantrips to focus his mind about what to do.

Why wouldn't flanking apply? The dire bat is directly opposite them. That was part of the reason I put the bat there.

*nods* Thrown weapons are fun, for sure. I'm just trying to imagine what a bow-barbarian would feel like, and how you'd capture 'barbarian' with it, and make it feel different from every generic archer build. I rarely play bow-archers because while they arguably have some of the best DPS in the game, I find 'stand in place and fire arrows the entire battle' to be boring to play.

I'm idly envisioning a class feature that makes your bow adaptive for purposes of STR enhancements coming from your rage (but not adjustments from other sources), and maybe a 'barrage' cone of arrows ability-- an attack roll at a -5 versus all foes in a 15 ft cone, a single roll, vs each creature's AC...

/babble. RPGSS is getting to me. :P

There is actually an archtype for this. the Primal Hunter

Seems like everyone are rolling 19 to hit. Too bad you probably didn't confirm the crit because you would have rolled 2,3,4,5,6 for damage which would have been yahtzee!

@Five: You know you can jump charge if you wait for the other Merisiel to move out of the way first right? Not that you have to of course, it's your character, but it was described as nearly dead, so any amount of damage would finish it off. It looks like the creature doesn't have combat reflexes since it didn't take an AoO against Amiri and my Bat will provide flanking so you can sneak.

She got a 10 foot sword and she can't hit it with a 4'6" jump? That's pretty silly imo... She's also probably over 6 foot tall. It's not like she is trying to punch it, she's using a large sword.

Can't you charge as a standard action while staggered, or is that only in a surprise round? It is possible to jump charge at least.
"It's nearly defeated! Let's finish this quickly." Balazar shouts out in glee as his bat is nearly successful in taking it down.

Aren't the rogues and Sajan too far apart to be targeted by slow?

Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

"Argh, these elementals are useless against a flying opponent! Let's use something different instead. Balazar mutters before focusing his powers to once again draw forth a creature to help them. He closes his mind for a second and when he opens them again a large dire bat is suddenly flying through the air above the statue. It's eyes gleam with white light as it charges at the demon. The earth elementals vanish at the same time the bat appears.

Summon Celestial Dire bat. Smite to boost damage and bypass DR. It'll be like 15 feet above the ground when it attacks so it gets high ground advantage, leave space for Amiri below it and allow the rogues to jump/flank.

Attack with charge, smite and high ground: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

After summoning the bat Balazar steps to the side to allow the rogues a change to charge at the creature.

fly check in case it takes damage from AoO, AC 12: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

He did say I had an item that helps. I can only assume he means the wand of dispel magic, so probably no wings. That said I really don't like it when the GM comes with tactical advice. Not going to complain too much due to the nature of this mission though. Also, a shame the rogues wasted their weapon blanch on the goats. Now the elementals got no enemy to strike.

Amiri did an acrobatics check to jump and attack already, that worked right? The elementals not being able to do much is fine, I expected as much. Hopefully it'll attack them, though I kind of doubt it.

If it's blind she gets a bonus to attack right? Sorry for such a brief post earlier, I didn't want to hold up things. Glitterdust DC 17.

"Ogrei jogfre onivos nroig nroes enoiv bioes riobt ronea" Balazar chants as he picks up some powder from the pouch at his side before sprinkling it harmlessly into the air. At the same time as he does so a massive amount of glitterdust starts falling all around the floating creature. Balazar is shocked to see the floating daemon. "I have no idea what kind of creature that is! Most mysterious. I've studied a lot of outsiders, but this is unknown to me." He says.

You can always high jump. Shouldn't be many feet you need to jump to reach with your sword. You have some height, add on your arms and then the length of the sword and it shouldn't be much further.

Balazar chants a quick incantation and glitterdust starts raining around the daemon. His earth elementals move in shortly thereafter, and tries to reach.

I can just replace the elementals with whatever I need once we get into the room. My shield spell only got a minute longer duration than the elementals anyway.

"Whatever is in league with those faceless stalkers and causing all these birds to go into a riot, it's in here. Let's go and deal with it." Balazar says with grim determination as they get ready to face whatever lies at the end of this.

Isn't the holy symbol a bow AND arrow?
