Hi :) Jereru here, presenting my Slayer. Can go rogue oriented in the future if I pick trapsense and that, or a bit scrappier.

It's not finished, I need to write the story (it's in my mind, just not written) and finish some choice picks (traits, mostly).

Thank you for that generous interpretation. That's how I would rule it as well.

Since I'm using a feat to get the ability for wielding larger weapons, I don't have room to also get weapon Proficiency Bastard Sword. Would you allow combining Heirloom Weapon and Ancestral Weapon into the same weapon (using a drawback to get room for all the traits)? Of course the old version of heirloom weapon would be even better, but I understand it if you don't like it.

Currently I'm thinking a demon-spawn tiefling with the abyssal bloodline, infected by the taint of the worldwound.

Re: favoured enemy: Noted. I will change (probably to goblinoids)

@Bron Frostbreath: Cool! I'll wait for it.

@oyzar: Yes you can use both traits for the same weapon.

@Bellis Aleste: I believe someone casted Darkness on your statblock.

Ah, you're right. What's the point buy/roll?

Here is my character submission, Ansgar Ercanbald, sword and board Crusader Cleric of Ragathiel.

Ansgar’s Back Story:

A small town outside Magnimar, ten years ago

“Ansgar, your probably no better than your father” a voice shouted from behind him.
I’m almost out, I’m almost out Ansgar thought as he approached the end of the alley way, fleeing those chasing him with the intent of punishing him for his fathers crimes. It was then that he slipped and fell, hearing the rapid approach of those chasing him. Splayed out on the ground he scrambled to his feet in time to feel something, fist or piece of wood perhaps, connect with the side of his head.

Pain flashing and his mind going blank, a vision of flame with behind a sword crossed over a wing was emblazoned on his mind. Fight, Stand, Avenge something screamed as he fell into unconsciousness.

Upon awaking, Ansgar noticed he was on a bed, head bandaged, someone sitting beside him.

“Ahh, you are finally awake then good. Come eat and then we will see about getting you on your way” said the someone as they helped him to the table.

Getting up Ansgar and moving to the table, Ansgar had a few questions, “Who are you and why have you helped me, sir?”, for it was obviously a man helping him.

”I am known by most Argent, a member of the cult of Ragathiel in Magnimar. I am helping you because I came across you being beaten, and the call of Vengeance blossomed in me.” Sighing, Argent continued ”lets get you fed than and on your way home”

Beginning to eat and starting to feel better, Ansgar decides to inform Argent of his familial status. ”With the death of my father, my mother has been driven out of town as well, leaving me to fend for myself, I’ve no where left to go”

”Why has this happened?” Argent replied.

”My father was found guilty of murder, of an entire family. They hung him three days ago. Since the, the rest of the town has been pressuring my mother and I to leave. My mother was beaten and left town yesterday. I was merely trying to get my things before I too left, though she told me not to follow her...”

”Then I shall take you to Magnimar. There, in return for what I have done for you, you shall stay and learn the ways of Ragathiel for a period of two years and a day, being fed and housed the entire time. Given the mutterings in your sleep, he seems to have taken a hold on your conscience”

Ansgar spent two years and a day with the Cult of Ragathiel in Magnimar, learning what he could of Ragathiel’s tenets, history, and the planes upon which he fought, trying to better understand the being he in turn sought to worship. Over this period he began to train in arms and armor as well, eventually learning to fight well enough to hold his own as well as be able to cast minor magics.

In his training, Ansgar found that his anger rose and concentrated into a point, unable to let him concentrate on other things. He began to pray when he found himself in training or in fights when he and the others left Magnimar to carry out Ragathiel’s will, speaking to himself in celestial as a calming mechanism, and hoping Ragathiel would hear and answer him. These prayers may have brought him victory, but they did nothing to stem the bloodlust that led him to fight far more brutally than needed to win.

Between the teachings of the Cult of Ragathiel and his experiences, Ansgar created for himself a code to follow, for though he tried to do good, his drive to prove himself as an equal to others tainted it in many ways.

Ansgar ended up spending 10 years with the Cult of Ragathiel, and after the first two, he began to visit and study the other religions and factions within the many Cults of Magnimar. While holding Ragathiel as his ideal, Ansgar found that many other deities and faith’s were worth respecting, even if they were not right for him. It is because of this seeking out of knowledge that Ansgar found himself in Sandpoint waiting to view the newly made cathedral...

Ansgar’s Code:

1. A life for a life. One death does not justify a hundred acts of Vengeance. The path of the sword is one of balance, and every act of Vengeance may beget another. In service to Ragathiel I seek to balance the scales, not fill them to overflowing.
2. Torture is not Vengeance. There is more than enough suffering in the world. I shall not add to it in Ragathiel’s name. A clean death can be an act of just Vengeance, but a torturous one is almost always an act of evil.
3. No Vengeance for myself. I may never entreat myself for Vengeance. I take Vengeance for others, at their request, and only if they are worthy and willing to follow the rules set out for them.
Rule of Vengeance 1 - No Vengeance but Ragathiel's. Once I, in the name of Ragathiel, have agreed to take vengeance for someone, the matter is finished. The wronged party must move on with their life as soon as I agree to enact the Vengeance. They are not to witness the deed itself. They are not to seek further Vengeance against the friends or family of the target. To do so is to cause Ragathiel’s Vengeance to be enacted upon themselves so as to balance the scales.
Rule of Vengeance 2 - The Silence of the Grave. The matter is never to be spoken of again. You are never to speak of the Vengeance you request with anyone. Ever. You may only make a silent sacrifice to Ragathiel one a year in remembrance. Otherwise you are to act as if your loved one died a natural death. Mourn them, but do so with no anger.
4. I shall not suffer a Fiends to Live. Fiends, of all types, are Anathema. All fiends are assumed to be worthy of Vengeance. I am called to destroy fiend-kind wherever I find them, or spend my life attempting to do as much damage as possible. This is not a requirement that I throw my life away. It will likely be that a I may do the most damage by raising an army, or training to become powerful enough to slay the beast.
5. It is my duty, as an honorable and chivalrous follower of Ragathiel, to protect those close to me as if they were my kin. My allies depend on me a I shall not falter in their times of need.
Because of his code, Ansgar lives a less pragmatic life than his instinctual desires would lead him to. However, following the path of Ragathiel gives him free reign to grow more powerful to the point that others will have to accept him for who he is, and not for the crimes of his father.

Appearance:

Ansgar is of average height and weight at 5’ 5” and 155 lbs. He is built lithely from all the training and work he has done in his life. His body is weathered from spending a good amount of time out doors, and his dark hair begins to show signs of grey at the temples already, despite his young age.

Personality:

Ansgar is talkative, though somewhat shy around people at first. He is also fiercely loyal and always trying to aid others, for it is his duty to in life. His code helps for his out look on life and keeps him from doing anything that would tarnish his name or that of Ragathiel.
Ansgar is used to working in groups, and can easily find reasons to help out in the group and continue with it until he feels that Ragathiel needs him elsewhere.

Character Growth:

From an in character perspective, I expect Ansgar to start out by being wrapped in his code, needing its structure to help guide his interactions with others so that his blood lust and drive to prove himself stronger than others (and to prove himself worthy of their respect) do not overwhelm him into doing evil deeds. Over time, as his faith grows and he comes to understand more, he will need to rely on the code less and less, becoming more a champion of good in its own right than a person following a strict set of codes so that their actions end up being good. Mechanically, this would represent a shift from his LN alignment to a LG or NG one eventually.

From a mechanical perspective, Ansgar prepares his spells every day to aid himself and his group in battle. Spells like bless, divine favor, bull strength and rage routinely make in onto his spell list, though he does favor group buffs over self buffs. If needed, Ansgar will prepare curative spells, such as lesser restoration or cure blindness/deafness as needed, and will eventually be leaving a spell slot or two blank to allow for more flexibility during the day. From a melee perspective, Ansgar will grow as a two weapon fighting sword and shield user over the course of his career, wearing medium armor the entire time.
Also, I know some people are hesitant about a cleric starting with 13 wisdom, but if I am staying away from DC related spells and can get the appropriate items then it will be fine. The reasoning behind Crusader Cleric as opposed to a Warpriest is that the Crusader get the same number of base spells if not more and has access to the entire 9 levels of spells, even if I get fewer per day than a normal cleric.

Destructive Smite (Su): You gain the destructive smite power: the supernatural ability to make a single melee attack with a morale bonus on damage rolls equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum 1). You must declare the destructive smite before making the attack. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

@Dragoncat: Unless you really want to play a Oracle i'd say go with what you like, its easier for me to drop a few extra consumables on the way than it is for you guys to play something you don't want as much.

@spacefurry: From what i've been seeing up to this point it looks like your gunslinger would present a more unique option, although i also like the idea of white mage Kiwyn a lot.

Its a 20 point-buy or you can use this array (that totals 21 points) 17, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. You can find all information regarding character creation in this post.

@Rostam: I'll give it a more in-depth look when possible but from what i was able to see with a quick glance it looks good.

I have few questions though:
1. Can I be a Suli?
2. Is drinking a potion interchangeable with drink a drink?
3. Are prestige classes allowed?

1. Yes.

2. Leaning towards yes but hard to answer for sure without knowing what interaction you're thinking about.
3. Most likely yes, unless it breaks some other rule. If you tell me what class you cant i can confirm.

Variant multiclassing? Mmmm I might think about this...

Background:

Sergei was born to a Sczarni woman who had a tryst with a beautiful Elf Hunter wandering into Varisian lands. They’re affair did not last long as both were wandering people and both went their separate ways. Weeks later she found out she was pregnant with his child. She kept the baby naming him Sergei so that he would better fit in with the Sczarni among whom he was to be raised. He became part of their clan and participated jovially in all of the songs and dancing as well as the cons and tricks becoming very fond of finding the next mark for the clan.
In the Varisian wilderness there are many dangers and while traveling. His caravan was attacked by unknown beasts in the dark. He joined with a few of his clansmen to find the creatures and hunt them down. They caught up to the group of bugbears wandering down from the mountains. The rest of his group returned to the Sczarni caravan while Sergei decided to continue the hunt for adventure and possibly, his heritage. This first hunt was the first taste of the hunter’s blood within him and he couldn’t resist the call of adventure. He began to track various game not having much luck and ending up in Sandpoint.

Hello guys! Is there still room/time to propose a character? I've got and idea for an Occultist (Reliquarian of Abadar Protection Domain/Transmutation) from Magnimar who decided to come to Sandpoint see if she can help the little community to expand and thrive against the wilderness. She's hoping to bring some of the villagers under Abadar's faith. I picture her as a Lawful Good woman from noble lineage, full of hope and dreams, but sometimes a little bit too serious or hard on criminals. She will be very interested with the history of Varisia and open-minded to the others faiths/communities.

In term of crunch I think of her as a Skill Monkey/Buffer with a bit of melee or range dammage depending on what is needed most maybe Evangelist (PrC) at level 6.

If it's too late well my bad!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The deadline is 13th. I don't think there is any limits on making a character if you can finish it before that.

@Lornis: As oyzar sayd, you can submit a character up untill 13th midnight.

Do we have to use unchained monk?

If not

I'm waffling back and forth between a dwarf monk brother of the seal and samsaran magus monk.

Okay, I think I have made the proper stat adjustments.

I decided to combine the two versions of Kiwyn. I'm just trying to scrape together an extra skill rank or 2. Would you allow a 3.5 ed feat from the Book of Exalted Deeds?

I'm interested. In the interest of full disclosure I'm running this AP right now, but I can separate player knowledge from character knowledge. This is the alias I'm going to submit but I need to check that it uses the same creation rules, and I'll need to see if there are tweaks I want to make (or even major changes... maybe build him as a magus instead since more than half the applicants are non-casters...)

Hello everyone. I have never played RotR, though I've read the AP Player's Guide. I have an idea for a Human Wizard originating from Riddleport: an aspiring cyphermage who can't quite find acceptance among the arcane cliques in their hometown, and decides to prove their worth by achieving greatness in the Varisian countryside. Is that a viable idea? I'd build them straight out of the Core book, nothing fancy.

Pretty much any class is viable. Many consider the wizard to be the very best class at dealing with a wide variety of problems and humans is a good race for a wizard.

That said a lot come down to the choices you do as a player. If you chose the right spells you'll literally feel like a god as you'll be able to control both time and space, but if you chose the wrong ones, you'll probably feel lackluster.

Also at the early levels you don't have a lot of spells per day, so use them wisely.

@LetcherMan69: You can go regular monk if you want, no problem. Both sound good.

@Bellis Aleste: I could be wrong but it seems you took 3 traits without taking a drawback. Other than that your character seems really cool.

@spacefurry: I do, don't forget to explain it within your character's background.

@Baldric Moore: That sounds fine, i believe we can make it work. I'll wait untill you double-check your character before i add him to the submissions.

@Marc L: Sounds like a good idea, looking foward to your character.

Liberty's Edge

Hi, I'm building an Undine Hydrokineticist for this AP. Small question, would you consider changing the Water Affinity racial trait (strengthening elemental(water) Sorcerers and Water Domain Clerics) so that it would also benefit hydrokineticists I'd believe it to be thematically appropriate.

@Sapiens: I think it makes sense, sure.

The cruch is on a bar napkin, but my wizard is coming together. Depressive elven void elementalist. Too aware for his own good for over a hundred years. Very introverted, has kept to himself mostly. But is fascinated by Thassilonian magic.

I'm having a little trouble finalizing how I want to build... my backstory is that I trained in a martial academy in Magnimar that claims to have its roots in an ancient Thassilonian (they made us study Thassilonian language and history along with our combat training, thus my campaign trait), and since graduating has decided to look for some freelance work instead of taking a position in some wealthy noble's private guard (much to his father's displeasure). He's the Han Solo kind of reluctant hero type.

I was looking at the witch killer slayer archetype (the idea being that the school descended from one that trained soldiers to battle other Runelords' arcane servants). I really like that idea, and flavor-wise I'd bet it's pretty different than the current slayer, but mechanically they'd be filling the same role so I feel bad doing that, especially when there's other roles nobody's pitched... Another option I was considering is some kind of magus- maybe an armored battlecaster (the idea here being that the school came from one that trained bodyguards for wealthy/important Thassilonian wizards). Any thoughts/feedback?

What is the deadline again?

Deadline is Midnight on Nov. 13th.

midnight from the 12th into the 13th, or midnight from the 13th to the 14th? thats a pretty important distinction at this point

Also, midnight for what time zone?

It is midnight from 13th to 14th, PST time zone. Sorry if it was unclear.

@GM- thanks! I just wanted to make sure because I'd hate to miss the deadline just because I was hemming and hawing too long. Also, any feedback on either (or both) of the ideas I listed?

Yeah, sorry, couldn`t answer before. I think both ideas are cool, but like you i also feel the Magus might have less overlap with the other chracters.

Sable:
Sable
Female Human Ranger (Sword-Devil)

Background
Born daughter to the chieftain of a village in the hinterlands of Varisia, Sable long exhibited a talent for woodlore. In another life, she might well have gone on to become a talented huntress and inherit her mother's position as chieftain. However, this was not to be. When Sable was on the threshold between childhood and womanhood, marauders fell upon her village. Ill-equipped to defend themselves, the village fell to the marauders and Sable was taken as a slave.

Taken to the City of Strangers, Sable was sold to one of Kaer Maga's gladiator pits. There, she caught the eye of a woman with hair the color of flame. Once a gladiator herself, she had once been known as the She-Devil with a Sword. Seeing potential in the young Sable – or perhaps simply seeing much of herself in the girl – she took her under her wing, teaching Sable all she had learned in her years as a gladiator, mercenary, sellsword, and adventurer. The training was long and grueling, but by the time they were finished, she had forged Sable into a survivor. Deeming her ready, she released Sable, telling the young woman that she had earned her freedom.

Since then, Sable has taken up the life of a wandering adventurer and mercenary.

Personality
While Sable's swordhand comes with a price attached, she never asks for more than the client can afford to pay, especially if the need is great. Admittedly, though, if the locals are going to starve from lack of grain and only need a little to make it through the winter, some shipments under her watch may start to come in short. There are few better at hunting down escaped murderers than Sable, but invariably, a young woman on the run from a loveless marriage will elude the sword-devil despite her tracking prowess.

Sable harbors a hatred of slavers, but does her best to conceal her antipathy when dealing with them, even agreeing to work with them, though she charges steeply and up front... though somehow, a shipment of slaves may find its way to the port of a nation where slavery is outlawed and the slaves will be set free instead of the intended port.

Sable is open and unabashed in her enjoyment of soft, limber company, and she has an appreciation for fine weaponry, but more than either of these things, she loves adventure... but although she does not acknowledge it, her aversion to putting down roots may tie into the trauma of losing the village in which she spent her childhood.

Appearance
Skin white as snow. Lips red as blood. Hair as black as ebony. And eyes as grey as steel. Blessed with looks both striking and memorable, the words that best describe Sable's physique are amazonian and statuesque. Sable has no qualms about flaunting either her generous feminine curves or her athleticism and fitness. Taking after her mentor, she generally favors a chainmail bikini, though she may forgo her signature look when circumstances call for other attire, although she tends to find anything more modest than her usual itchy and uncomfortable.

Death Vow (Ex): Sable may, as a swift action, focus all her fury and determination on a single foe she swears to slway. She may do this three times per day. She gains a bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against the target equal to half her sword-devil level (minimum +1). The death vow effect remains until the target of the death vow is dead, or the next time Sable rests and regains use of this ability.

Vengeful Death Vow: Targets of Sable's death vow take a -2 penalty on attacks made against her.

Notes:
Going not so much for a Red Sonja expy here as a Robin to Red Sonja's Batman, metaphorically. Aware it's kind of skirting the line, so no hard feelings if you go with someone else.

One potential addition to personality is having adopted her mentor's religion and considering herself a warrior-priestess of Scathach, despite having no divine magic, but if you'd rather not have a character worshiping a non-Golarion deity, I can nix that bit.

Well here she is. I had to revamp her a little but I think she'll be fun to play.
I used the 20 point buy for stats.

I just had to retype it all last minute because the internet ate the first posting of the new version when I went to save the changes to the profile. ><

So here she is for your consideration, with a little bit of fluff I also had to rewrite.

Fluff:
With family roots reaching back to the distant lands of Tian Xia, this Kitsune is no stranger to the lust and curiosity of seeking the new and exciting. Her parents traveled across the wide sea under the guise of humans to seek out fortune and fame in a new land. Settling in a bustling port city after journeys of their own, her father opened a small import/antique shop while her mother opened a small apothecary shop. The bustling city provided a stimulating enough environment to keep the couple happy and soon the two had a litter of their own. Her arcane wielding mother using her magic to keep them disguised until they could do so themselves.
Their youngest was a curious and energetic little cub named Kiwyn you they believed blessed by the gods themselves because of her white fur. With her brothers and sisters she explored the city, seeking out is hidden treasures. Treasures like the small standing of trees, seemingly hidden and left untouched amongst the narrow alleys. It was here Kiwyn found a lone dryad who at first wanted to remain hidden out of fear of discovery. Only after many visits did the fey begin to open up to the kitsune, soon the two became close friends.
In time each of her siblings found their callings and ventured out to find their own adventures. For Kiwyn, her talents laid down the path of magic like her mother, who happily taught her the arcane arts. As she grew in age and magic Kiwyn showed a special knack with magic, using it in ways even her mother could not.
Soon, her time came to leave home too. Armed with spells copied from her mother’s tomes and the gift of a blessing from her long time friend, Kiwyn bid a tearful farewell and set out on her own journey.

Drawn by tales of mystery and stories of old the young kitsune roams far and wide. On her own, Kiwyn relies on her quick mind and nimble feet to survive. Using her blossoming magic skills to aid her where her lack of physical strength fails her. Around others she is fine with playing the role of a young human wizard, sometimes even pretending to be less experience then she actually is.

Alright... I'm not going to have time to rebuild tonight but I'm relatively certain that I'm going to build him as a Magus with the armored battlemage archetype, and that I'm going to take variant multiclassing for cavalier in the order of the guard (to really flesh out the bodyguard aspect of his schooling).

Bit of background added to Bron, traits selected, FCB selected, so mostly finished, I guess, unless I think of more things to add to the story.

Development: I can pick some choices and make Bron closer to a rogue if there's no rogue in the group, or take a different path and cover the ranger niche. If there are both rogues and rangers in the group, he can still be a nice damage dealer and set up blindness or other things for the rest thanks to the dirty trick chain, as well as act as a back up stealther and/or tracker. Also, being a Shoanti could help in any attempt at socialising with them.

Evenin' everyone. Don't suppose you're good for another hat in the ring?

Introducing Kalais Ryndel; Ilsurian Archer and Scout of the Order of the Black Arrow. She's built to 20 PB, 175 Gold, and as average as you like...for a Plumkith Scion of Humanity, I guess.

I'd originally built her for a table where I got to chat quite a bit with the DM on Varisia and some of its nuances, so you may have to forgive the sheer amount of fluff (and I'd be glad to cull whatever you feel is inappropriate) -- but as I never had chance to actually put her in action, I'd love to be able to field her here for your consideration.

Oyzar here, finally done with my character. I've recycled an old alias, just disregard the unchained part (though I guess it could fit as a nickname). Hope the character is to your liking. Though I must warn you that the background starts off rather dark.

I ended up also going VMC cavalier, though in my case for order of a flame. Given how individual the order is, it's not really as part of an organized unit, but rather as a promise to his mother. It does fit the flavor of the character extremely well. I wish the other VMCs were as interesting as that of the cavalier. We already have two examples of it here and Order of the Star fits very well for a paladin, cleric or life oracle.

I might make him worship Ragathiel down the line. I think it would be quite interesting if he got converted by the party cleric to follow the General of Vengeace. Celestial/Defic Obedience Ragathiel is quite cool and fitting, even if Balazar doesn't end up going into any of the PrCs.

Sapiens' PC, Esmeralda Rosetti, shipwreck survivor and skilled waterbender hydrokineticist, reporting for consideration.

Dark Archive

Hmmm... interest. Might make a druid or a bard... Yeah a Bard! Will come up with more soon!

Sovereign Court

Here you go, this is Draco, he will be a skilled support. Looking into class options will flesh out the details by tonight.

Wow, so many new faces.

Just something i'd like to ask of you all, if you're taking a drawback for a third trait, please put the drawback close to the traits in a place where i can see it.

It is quite likely that i'll be sleeping before midnight, so if anyone wants to sumit or finish a new character you probably have about 5 to 8 hours after midnight untill i wake up and start picking players. I'll post when the submissions are oficially close.

Sovereign Court

Draco is a street performer bard. It'll definitely help if the huge barbarian suddenly vanishes right?

... Well any one would deal lots of pain of they where invisible.

I picked the vainglory drawback, which I think is extremely fitting for the character flavor-wise. On the sheet I put it right below the traits.

Looks like there are a lot of applicants for every role, but especially for martial ones. Though imho roles doesn't matter that much as a party with 4 martial characters can work just as well as a party with only 1. I feel like the only required role is to have someone capable of some sort of healing (of which there are four submitted), you don't need someone with trapfinding for example as anyone can detect traps with perception and dispel magic can deal with magical traps. What'll decide if you'll pick 3 or 5 players?

JMG021283 here.

I'm happy to change things as needed. Thanks for your consideration!!

So, I'm pretty sure that last night around midnight the devil himself climbed up into my colon and has been dying a violent, fiery death ever since... the chances of me finishing an application at this point are virtually zero. Sorry. Good luck everyone.
