Arise! Arise! I resurrect this thread! Blue pawn bases in medium, I need them!

Seriously, any possibility of this happening?

Sage advice. I appreciate it. We only play once a month so I'll make sure to mention Greeley in the recap when next we convene and see what they decide.

Alright, here's the sitch. The party, after learning where they might find Moses Greeley, arrived at his den (Area F) and in the ensuing search and investigation, the players split the party (another long story in an of itself) and managed to let Greeley escape. Now, one PC did manage to bull rush one of the flunkies off the roof, so there was that.

Anyway, they then were sent by Magistrate Drune to the House. Now, they didn't infiltrate via the wall tunnels, because after dealing with a pair of ogre spiders, they decided those tunnels were a no-go. So, they reconnoiter the house and then make an entrance into the Old Temple (area G11) via a hole in the wall. They then proceeded to go into the gallery (area G12), fight the cult members, discover the elevator, and descend to the Drowned Presbytery. There they managed to take out the phase spider guards, cult rabble, and Mog-Lathar through clever yet unexpected combat actions. This is where we stopped the session.

So, my conundrum is this: the PCs dragged Myra out with them so she's alive and subdued, the rest of the house still needs to be explored, and Moses Greeley is in the wind. What do the inhabitants of the house do now that Mog-Lathar has been beaten? Do they even realize? What does Moses Greeley do after successfully escaping?

Any ideas/suggestions are welcome!

Thread necro.

The old 2ed D&D accessory "City Sites" has a Civic Court that I'm going to use to play the part of the Longacre Building in my campaign.

The method I've used to create (way too many of) my own pawns is explained in a previous thread by yours truly: Creating Pawns from PDF Files

My apologies for the egregious thread necromancy. I am just curious if anyone created images of the graffiti to be found in the sewers in this adventure? If so, I'd love to see them.

What size of paper do you print on?

I received my long-awaited copies of the Kingmaker Pawns and the 1e Bestiary in the mail today. All I can say is Wow! I've only had a chance to give them a quick once over, but they look fabulous. Kudos Paizo for these amazing products.

Love, love, love, the pocket editions. I wish they'd "pocket-ize" the Planar Handbook, Pathfinder Unchained, and Mythic Adventures as well.

Speaking as his older brother (whose PCs he's killed more than any other player on the planet), he especially loves it when he dishes out a ton of damage an you reply with, "meh."

You'll have a blast. His games are always fun even when you're trying hard not to die.

That. Is. Perfect.

Thanks guys!

Has anyone created a cross-referenced list of pawns from across the Paizo catalog? By this I mean, for instance:

Hobgoblin - Bestiary Box 93; Ironfang Invasion 38; etc.

I ask as sometimes it's difficult to find multiples of some of the pawns needed for an encounter.

If anyone has a document such as this, I'd love to get a copy. And to extend 1000 blessings in your direction.

I'm no expert on soundtracks, but perhaps the Indiana Jones movies might fit the bill. John Williams definitely utilizes themes that run throughout. I haven't listened to them in a loooooong time, but I would imagine with the movies taking place in different areas of the world that there might be different styles of music. Just my 2 cents.

I'd be interested in Spell Cards, or NPC and Monster Battle cards like they have for 2e.

I couldn't agree more with what both of you said. The only reason I asked was in the interest of "realism" in my favorite fantasy game. I had honestly never thought of having a character in a wheelchair, but the image of the mini that Crystal attached got got me thinking.

Those are pretty cool. How would you adjudicate movement in game? Or just ignore it as long as the character is on a relatively flat surface?

Check out Ghostwalk from WotC. It was written right at the 3.0-3.5 change, but there is a 3.5 update available online. Has rules for playing ghost PCs.

So what pocket versions do you guys own?

I've got 'em all except the Adventure Paths and Starfinder.

I've got an idea for a short campaign that starts with the Dragon's Demand that keeps the party in the area of the Verduran Forest.

- The Dragon's Demand
- Realm of the Fellnight Queen
- Green Lady's Sorrow (Dungeon 35)
- For the rest of the campaign I plan on the party having an ongoing cold war against the River Pirates of the Sellen River - using the article in AP 111 "Sailing the Sellen River." This will culminate in:
- Vesicant (Dungeon 16)

Obviously, some levels will have to be adjusted to make this work, but it pits the PCs against 3 green dragons along the way.

First, let me say thank you. I appreciate all you guys have done while dealing with this whole pandemic and the associated headaches that came with it. I know you guys have been getting beat up on the boards, but I hope you know, that's a small minority of the Paizo customer base. Again, thank you for your tireless efforts to make everyone happy. Please let your whole crew know they are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Plus stuff like Monster Codex and Adventurer's Guide, right?

Monster Codex is already available.

Lichloved, that is an incredibly well-done Player's Guide. I'm an old PageMaker hand and try to make interesting handouts and such for my games as well. Thanks for sharing.

I've had this order showing as pending since I placed it back in late May. Today I noticed that the 1e Beginner Box was canceled on the 10th of June. Can I have you substitute a Non-Mint 1e Beginner Box on this order so it can get moivng?

Thanks in advance.

Love, love, love that this project is proceeding. I do hope that when it is all said and done, that a digest size POD option will be available. I'd love to have it sitting on my shelf next to my Pocket Edition NPC Codex.

If I have to, I'll get my six-year-old to make puppy dog eyes.

Count me as an unabashed super fan of the Pocket Editions. I certainly hope the last few hardbacks are converted to Pocket. Heck, I'd even pick up a Pocket edition Mythic Adventures if it were ever made.

I wish some other publishers would offer the "digest" size as a POD option. I'm looking at you Dreamscarred Press (Ultimate Psionics) and Alluria Publishing (Cerulean Seas).

Sadness. My set is missing pieces, and while I own the pdf there is no where in my town to get them printed. ;_;

1) Print the pages on 110 lb cardstock.

2) Using spray adhesive (Super 77 works the best IMO), create a 3-layer stack - blank page, blank page, printed page. Let dry under some weight for at least an hour. Create a 3-layer stack for both the front and back pages.
3) Once the 3-layer stacks are dry, cut out each pawn. Use a cutter of some sort, not scissors.
4) Use a glue stick to glue both halves of the pawn together. This will be 6 layers at completion.
5) Let the 6-layer pawns dry under weight for at least an hour.

Here's a link to a Facebook post showing my process as well. Homemade Pawns

I was wanting to stay a little truer to the original Chagmat as presented in the module, so here's what I came up with. If I counted right, this comes out to 21 RP.

Please let me know what you think. Also, Monstrous Humanoid or Aberration?

Chagmat
Chagmat are a race of humanoid spiders. They normally dwell in remote locations far from civilization. While not necessarily antisocial, the chagmat avoid outsiders as a general rule.
In their secluded homes, the chagmat live a simple life, hunting for food and raising their young. Most surprising to discover is that the chagmat are fine craftsmen, creating high-quality tools, weapons, and other items.
Personality: The chagmat are a fairly docile people, however, woe be to someone who threatens the chagmats’ lair. The spider-folk react quickly and in overwhelming fashion to perceived threats.
Physical Description: Chagmat look like humanoid spiders. They have six arms branching off a human-like torso, two legs supporting the body, the fanged mouthparts of a spider, and eight eyes clustered where a human’s eyes would be located. A typical chagmat has coloration reminiscent of wolf spiders, although other colorations have been reported.
Chagmat Racial Traits:
- +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, –2 Intelligence: Chagmat share the quickness and observational skills of their spider kin, but their alien minds see the world in their own unique way.
- Medium: Chagmat are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to size.
- Normal Speed: Chagmat have a base speed of 30 feet.
- Darkvision: Chagmat can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
- Expert Climber: Chagmat have a climb speed of 20 feet, and gain a +16 racial bonus on Climb checks. Furthermore, Chagmat can cling to cave walls and even ceilings as long as the surface has hand- and foot-holds. Chagmat are treated as being constantly under the effects of a nonmagical spider climb spell, save that they cannot cling to smooth surfaces.
- Extra Arms: Chagmat possess four extra arms extending from their torso. A chagmat can wield multiple weapons, but only one hand is its primary hand, and all others are off hands. They can also use its hands for other purposes that require free hands.
- Keen Senses: Chagmat receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
- Silent Hunter: Chagmat reduce the penalty for using Stealth while moving by 5 and can make Stealth checks while running at a -20 penalty.
- Stalker: Perception and Stealth are always class skills for Chagmat.
- Languages: Chagmat begin play speaking Common and Chagmat. Chagmat with high intelligence scores can choose from the following: any human language, Terran, Undercommon.

In a campaign a long time ago, the party made an enemy (unknown to them) who sent a pair of hired killers after. Completely inept hired killers. Every attempt they made to ambush the PCs failed miserably usually with one or both of the hit men badly injured. The party got to the point where they'd laugh at the attempt, turn the oafs over to the local authorities, and go on their way, waiting for the next attempt. Think Wile E. Coyote level of competence.

I'm sure some of you remember the classic Dragon magazine adventure "Chagmat" from issue 63. I"m looking to revisit it and was curious if anyone had created/updated the Chagmat using the rules from the Advanced Race Guide?

I was thinking of possibly using the Werespider (Bestiary 6) as an inspiration/template as well. If any of you ladies or gentlemen has some advice on creating with the ARG rules, I'd truly appreciate it.

You are a gentleperson and a scholar. Worked like a champ.

When I click "Add PDF" to put it in my cart, I get a message that it "produced an error" and nothing goes into my cart. Help! I wanna buy something!

Thanks for the ideas. I was finally able to get the file to go into my cart and download.

So, when I click on the "Add PDF" option, I keep getting a response that says "Your request produced an error" and it won't place the item in my cart. I've tried over the last couple of days both with my Norton VPN on and switched off. Please help.

+1 for Savage Species 2.0. I always liked that book, would've really liked a Pathfinder update.

Dreamscarred Press essentially accomplished this with their Monster Classes. I've not delved deeply into the numbers, but they seem pretty true to the Savage Species philosophy.

I inserted my two cents in a different thread (Jon Brazer looking at doing an NPC Codex II and/or Monster Codex II) that I'd like to possibly see these available in a Pocket Edition size or as a Pocket Edition Print-On-Demand option.

I'd like to take this request a bit further and ask the amazing 3PPs out there to look into making the Pocket Edition size an option for your larger products.

I'm looking directly at Dreamscarred Press (Ultimate Psionics) and Alluria Publishing (Cerulean Seas Campaign Setting and Beasts of the Boundless Blue).

I know formatting your existing product would probably be a pain in the neck, but I'd ask you to at least consider it. I would pick up Print-On-Demand Pocket Edition sized books. And I believe I'm not necessarily alone.

Anyway, I'm done rambling. I thank you for reading and I hope to see Pocket Edition as a possible choice. Thank you.

I can understand why some people would prefer the smaller paperback, for reasons of price and portability, but I'm a hard pass on that one. I like a full-sized gaming book.

I can't argue against that, and understand completely. Heck, if it was an option for Print-On-Demand, I'd be fine with it. I wish other publishers would offer it as well.

H Dale,

I gotta say I'm looking forward to the possibilities of these products. One question and a request, if I may, is this going to be available as a hard copy? And if so, what are the chances it will be available in the Pocket Edition size? I may be the only one, but I prefer the smaller size.

I'm not familiar with Fall of Plaguestone, but the best way to determine which pawns you'll need is to see which monsters are called for and see their source.

At a minimum, I'd suggest the Bestiary Boxed Set as it will have all the "core" monsters. "Monster Codex" and "Enemy Encounters" will give you multiples of some more common monsters. For PCs and NPCs, "NPC Codex," "Inner Sea Pawn Box," and "Heroes and Villains" are good resources.

Be warned, some of these are out of print, but you can still get the PDF and create your own. I've had to do that. I posted a thread showing my technique here. Some others commented with their techniques as well.

Oh, check out "Traps & Treasure" and "Dungeon Decor" for scenery pawns.

I joined with Pathfinder 2e and have been looking for a box of pawns my players can select from and to use running adventures.

The "Heroes and Villains" pawn set is good representing PCs. "Inner Sea Pawn Set" is a great resource, too.

I have purchased the PDF of some sets, and created my own pawns as well. I posted a thread here on how to do it.

+1

I truly hope they at least do Mythic Adventures, Pathfinder Unchained, and Planar Adventures in pocket edition.

NPCs are built like monsters, meaning they don't follow the player character character generation rules of the Core Rulebook. A swordsman NPC might have Fighter feats, but might not - instead having unique abilities no PC Fighter can do. A Monk-like NPC does not have to have the same attack or defense abilities as a PC Monk. And so on.

Okay, now it makes much more sense. Not having the 2e books I didn't know there was an alternate NPC building system.

Thanks for the explanation. And to you, too, Raven.

I am very intrigued with this new Adventure Path, and have wanted to run a circus-themed campaign since "The Jinglng Mordo Circus" from way back in the early years of Dungeon magazine.

While I have nothing against 2e, I am not currently looking to move on from 1e (yeah, I'm a grognard) as I have more 1e stuff than I'll ever be able to play. That being said, are there any "simple" guidelines for back converting an NPC to 1e? When I see a 2e stat block, I don't see a class or level listed. I suppose reading the 2e book would alleviate that issue, but hey, I'm being lazy.

So if any of you esteemed board members have any tips, tricks, ideas, or suggestions, I will wholeheartedly take them and thank you profusely.

(And, it should go without saying, this is NOT in any way a sneaky way to start any edition wars. Not my intention in the least. Thank you for your patronage.)

You may want to look at the Cerulean Seas GM Screen Inserts from Alluria Publishing. I haven't done a deep dive (HA!) to compare how those rules compare with Aquatic Adventures, but it may answer some of your questions.

I'm just curious as to how you use the different colored pawn bases Paizo markets.

I personally use blue for the PCs, black for opponents, green for tiny creatures, and red for creatures with a rider.

For the (very awesome) scenery pawns, I use a black base if the item takes up space in a square (i.e., statue, pillar, etc.) or a clear one (purchased from Spiel Pro) if said item (i.e., a door) would not take up a whole square.

Anyway, that's how I do it. How do you use them?

For those interested, I started a thread about a year and a half ago about making your own pawns from the out-of-print Monster Codex Pawns PDF. Monster Codex Pawns I was unable to find a physical copy so I did the next best thing. I think they turned out pretty well. Others in the thread had their own methods that would probably work equally well. Anyway, that's my 2 cents and I'll hush.

James,

I'm a big fan of your old "Far Corners of the World" articles from back in your WotC days.

I am curious as to what other classes' spell-lists you'd add the spells from this series to?

Instead of a new thread, I'm just gonna piggyback and query about my order - 4753791 - that was placed on March 12th and still shows pending as well.

Let me just say to be sure to use good spray adhesive (I've had the best luck with Super 77) and ensure you get a good coating on the paper before adding the next layer. I've had my latest set not adhere very well which is very frustrating.

I've tried that method, Fumarole, but trying to trim the chipboard was the biggest hassle. Of course, I may have purchased chipboard that was too thick. I won't discount it was possibly operator error.
